Just saw them in Manchester last night, feel the same first time i saw them was in 1980! David's voice is not what it was , but you'll still enjoy what is a great band.

Tommy Aldridge is flamboyant showman, I'll give him that, but there is so much above-the-head wasted motion in his performance and I've never like the flabby sound of his Yamaha kit. Brian Tichy really drives those sticks through the drum heads and cymbals, and his DW kit sounds so much richer and focussed.
This song still ‘gets me’ today, a great song from probably the UK’s greatest singing voice and didn’t his speaking voice get us all and melt our bones.

I see what you mean, Reb has been with Whitesnake for some time now. He seems to be the perfect fit rhythmically with the band and does backing vocals. He does an amazing job with Joel Hoekstra, although not shredding like Joel, he provides a counter-balance lead and rhthym to Joel's playing !
I just watched RATT singing in a concert from 2014.. SP sounded like a witch about to die.. and here you have an older Rock singer, that took care of himself and sounds like Mozart with his professional; band.. my goodness what talent..

What really gobsmacks me every time i listen to a whitesnake song performed live is that the band fits together so great and David Coverdale really has a good feeling for recruiting the perfect musicians for the positions. You know you can recruit some musicians who just play the song and thats it but it really makes a difference if you just have musicians who just play the song or have musicians who really enrich the sound of the very same song not just by playing it, but also by just adding attitude to the song. Coverdale could have just a plain blues rock drummer behind the drums, but instead he always picks drummers who play both technically diverse ( like a normal hard rock drummer) and create a saturated drum sound ( which is not so common for Hard rock drummers, rather blues rock drummers). And Whitesnakes bass-players never only play very plain back chords and that's it, NO, they instead back the guitar player up and follow their notes instead of just keeping a rather simple background groove. And the 2 guitar players always play in harmony together and what i enjoy the most about them is that they don't just define their positions and that's it, NO, they change the roles and often right during the song. In one moment Reb beach plays Rythm-Guitar-chords and out of a sudden he changes over into the Lead chords, while in the very same moment the other guitar player, who played the lead notes before, switches into the rythm guitar player role. That's SO DIFFICULT to do, but they always time it just right. I LOVE THAT!!!
ddrum was making a Dios kit for Brian when he switched to Natal. He never got to play the ddrum kit, but luckily I wound up with it earlier this year via Guitar Center's used gear. Bonham sized maple drums, silver sparkle and 2 built in XLR jacks in the bass drum with a SHU mount inside. It's 9 years old and in perfect condition. I used a Ludwig Supraphonic with it and it's an amazing set.
