Harbir Brar Simply for Kodi/Xbmc use. Is this the best box available for that? Or is there better ones out there. I don't care about the price. Just the usability. Thanks!
Harbir Brar Yes I aggre good video. But one major question for me about GRID wasn't answered . What is "really fast internet connection " for someone it's maybe 15 Mb/sec for someone else it's 1Gb via optical cable it varies from country to country so for me he could atlest mentioned how far was he from GRID server and what is his internet speed.
Harbir Brar Yes you can do all the things I'm about to mention with a laptop connected to your pc if you have one laying around..you can install emulators on the SHielD. Like every system up to ps1 so far. Pluto TV; which is a free app, it has 100+ channels. If you cut cable and you have a tuner card on your network, you can use it to watch tv over the Antenna you have outside and do it wireless. They are adding MPEG-2 native support for shield next update, till then you have to pay insta TV app to decode the stream. Then you can get the slingbox app and pay 20 a month for good channels like H2, where you can learn more about aliens. Your efforts may differ if your outside the us. Pretty decent casual gaming machine, this is not a replacement for a ps4 or xbox one, though you have the option. Wired connection will clear up some of that lag, next update should also help. Can sideload stuff on it, keyboard and mouse work with it. With games that are streamed as well, so you dont have to use the controller. When he says fast.. I have a 60 meg connection and grid works flawless over a wireless connection to the shield on my end. GIgabit router helps a ton. It also works with logitech webcams and there's a video chat app.. name escapes me. It can use an external hd. So many missing aspects of your review now that I think about it... lol.

I felt that one topic was ENTIRELY left out. Emulators. Emulators, emulators, emulators, this thing can emulate GAMECUBE, so melee practice on this thing is feasible. More than that, everything below the Gamecube can be emulated, so N64, SNES, NES, GB, GBC, GBA, PS1, PSP, Atari, you name it. This looks like a really good emulation machine, since it has pretty nice looking controllers, and the specs are decent. I think that this one overlooked point could've excused a flaw or two, or increased this thing's value.
Great video! One thing that is mentioned is the lack of rumble functionality with the controller. It's true that the device does not rumble, but speaking to Nvidia reps, the controller actually has rumble hardware built in. What's lacking is the Android software catching up to take advantage of it. And I've actually been able to get rumble to work in some emulators which support it.

well i got one from amazon. shipped to bulgaria. so my guess it they shit to almost everywhere. just search for it, and tick the box from the left "shipping to XXX" your country. it gets a bit more expensive, but
Seriously excellent and informative video. OK now you do review everything on the Net. That was THAT good. You can do an addition where you cover the likes of Plex and Kodi and it will be the most comprehensive video about that product.
That is a great review of what you got going on with this, have they come up with any new games for it yet, i saw this at best buy where i work at as a guard in Westfield, do they do any upgrades to the library for new games from the google store, please let me know.
Great review, but you missed one MAJOR pro. You can install KODI on the NSC (not on xbox or ps4). That brings the NSC close to a complete media solution for the living room. Mine is coming this afternoon and I can't wait. Thanks.
thank you so much. I really like your video. very informative. I am getting hiccups using 60 mbps and bought a gaming router and was still having same issue. I do live in Florida idk if that is an issue. but I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets stutters
+Domo Rawrz I put a 128gb in mine and it works great. If you want more content though you can always download the Kodi app or if your into paying for things you can use Plex, and stream from other PCs in the house or network.
Nasir Jones with wireless you have TON of interference. even if it is 5ghz. if you don't have 5 ghz router, then ethernet is no-brainer. almost everything in your household is using 2.4 ghz, like the standard routers, so it is kind of a mess
I like the PC option. Currently running a custom Origin with two NVIDIA 980 cards. I use a 32 GB Shield that is quite reliable and I enjoy using the GRID. The console reviewed in this video looks promising and I want to get rid of my premium cable channels. Guess I will wait and see.
Great review! The Shield looks like a neat piece of hardware. I just can't get excited about android games, and the Shield optimized titles are old...I already own and played most of them.
Take your entire PC Steam library and put it on your TV....can be done with one HDMI cable. No $200 green box necessary! I hate to be that guy but for me, personally, I find absolutely no reason for a box like this. Love the review though very informative and you know what you're talking about. Being able to relate to someone recommending a product helps a lot!
Alex891 -GAMER i heard someone from the netherlands (or was it norway...) bought it from here: www.amazon.com/NVIDIA-SHIELD/dp/B00U33Q940/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1433877306&sr=8-2&keywords=nvidia+shield&pebp=1433877310226&perid=09ECTNA2D091ACHQYE11 i'm from Bulgaria, but i'm not sure if it will ship to here.
You're wrong about grid most games are 1080p 60fps. It lowers quality automatically if you haven't got the bandwidth. Grid will be getting a lot more games when the paid service starts. You're also wrong about it getting major triple AAA, grid is just lot's of high end PC's that they can install any PC game on them. They have stated major AAA titles are coming. Watch other reviews, you need 50 Mbps connection for grid to work flawlessly and most have said it feels like they're playing games natively which suggest you're home internet is poor or you are far away from their servers.
Hey man, have a quick question: I bought this for KODI and there seems to be a small issue with remote, there is no button to bring the menu feature in KODI to add movie to favorites or see movie information etc. Do you know any way way around this issue? Thanks in advance
If it has HDMI connection, yes. But the volume setting buttons on the Shield controller will only work with newer TVs. If it doesn't work, you have to change the volume with the standard remote.
this thing keeps me out of the office and lets me play games on a more social level (play on tv in the living room) and be apart of my surroundings and play games that are only available on PC. Now that the shield works with the xbox one wireless controller it makes for a great experience. I have this connected to my 65" HD tv streaming from my skylake 6600k 980ti PC and it works good enough for me...but if you want anything better than 1080p you gotta play on your pc. FYI, this doesnt work well at all over wireless connection, a gigabit connection is a must.
Guy Dviri you can play the native games offline. i guess the PC streaming would require just lan connection, not true internet. but to play grid games you would need internet.
Great review! I agree with members below to me you covered everything except for if it had functionality of the Dragon Box. However, I do not believe it does it is more fore online streaming features. Thanks
So, I was under the impression that it can coprocess with the PC using its own graphics card. So, it won't help the PC in any way play games? You do need to be able to handle the game on the PC?
No. Edited 19.10.2016 Can connect but... (It can only stream games from the nvidia cloud and your PC. That mean you can't play all games from Steam like on your PC.)
If you stream games, it doesn't use any storage. If you download games to the Shield (these are running on the Shield itself), you can move them to SD card, or any USB storage. But some programs might have problems with this.
I am looking for something to enable FHD60FPS on my tv. I record from my galaxy s6 in FHD60FPS but the tv doesn't playback very well. Can I stream to this and use it to process and output to my TV?
I love my Nvidia Shield TV Pro (500 GB), we have every generation of the Nvidia Shield line and use them all on daily basis. I enjoy being able to able stream 4K content to my UHD TV. I do not compare this product to my gaming PC or game consoles, because they all serve different purposes. My Roku, Chromecast, and Fire TV can close to this product. I know that they are cheaper, but I never use them for my set-up. I gave them away to my less techie family members.
Love the idea of the Shield. If you already have a gaming PC connected to your main TV with wireless controls, there would be no point in getting one. If the quality could match the PC streaming your game i might buy one. It would save money; id need one less PC. I have a hard time playing games without optimal performance. It ruins the experience for me. I like playing games on the big screen, however, i think most PC gamers prefer there 24 inch monitors. I think its fun on the big screen, especially with friends over....I'm way better at most if not all games with a smaller monitor. If your a console gamer you like your couch. If your a pc gamer you like your desk... I hope this product takes off and they keep making it better but i have my doubts.
***** yes, you can use the XBOXONE-S controller in the PS4, but you need to buy an adapter, make sure you buy the right one. I am currently using the PS4 controller in my XBOXONE, the only downside is that I can't see how charge the PS4 controller is, but works ok.
When looking for an all-inclusive next gen 'system' , this product looks simply AMAZING. However the review didn't answer all my questions. As far as a gaming console does it offer trophies and achievements, does anyone know? Trophies have me engaged to my console and gaming in general whether it's on PS3 OR Google play. They offer more meaning , purpose and challenge apart from playing just for fun which is nice also. I know I can't migrate my PS3 account trophies or achievements but what about Google play, will those carry over.? Nvidia grid games offer the same? Also does it allow for external hard drives like the Xbox ones to download if Internet is slow for streaming?
can i stream my pc games from outside home with nvidia shield pro (in my friend's house)? in the same country. what is the connection speed required to be good and optimised? can i connect xbox joystick? so i can play with friends from my pc?
+Praveen reddy for any game not in the nvidia grid system, yes you need a pc. The cloud gaming works the same way streaming from your pc works, it is just done on a server somewhere else.
this dude is amazing.
14 minutes of content and leave no unanswered questions.
keep it up man.
Agreed

The best review of this product I have seen. Very well done.
4:58 not all the games in the shield store are cross-compatible with the other shields

Alejandro Mtz Gandara but... is "Andriod" a new operating system? 3:33
***** it's not new.
for games that have no controller support and are kb/m only, download Pinnacle Profiler. It works with the Shield controllers with no problem.
Or you can connect a mouse and keyboard to the Shield, but i don't know if the games will support it this way.
Great review Thumbs Up for it...
I want it & hope people will Love it...
Also any bugs it has hopefully be fix...

will you be able to connect to a home theater?
Are you able to stream your desktop aswell? Like to show off documents or such
Oh, can you get Skype running while playing games?
Unfortunatelly, no, you can only stream games or the Steam app.
Can you buy and download games from steam to the consol directly ?
Also you can stream the Playstation 4 on all 3 Shield devices and you can run all kinds of emulators on it.
Is it worth picking this up if I have the tablet?
can i ask what's your work man ?

+Gimpy2k7 I've tried this years ago and where as this is a good method, there is a lot of dicking around going to and from the PC.
so is it worth 150 bucks on blackfriday?
do you know what sound DAC there is in it ? :)
Can I buy this for Google/Android games? Basically what I wanted the Ouya to be.
Awesome, thanks for that.
What do you think the best device is for streaming pc games to your TV wirelessly
I'd say the Steam Link atm as its only $50 and can stream 1080 60 FPS I believe.
+Ozzy0990 wireless and internet quality usually dont go together
Could you buy the nvidia shield in Europe
Alex891 -GAMER i heard someone from the netherlands (or was it norway...) bought it from here:

i'm from Bulgaria, but i'm not sure if it will ship to here.
also heard it will come in UK probably by the end of the year (second half of 2015)
it has steam on it so you can play most games on it thru steam right?
TheDayzOfOurLives Steam games can be used only if you're streaming from your pc. Most Steam games don't work on Android OS. (well, none of them)
So I'm to understand if you do not have a great pc for gaming you will not be able to fully use the NVIDIA Shield for PC game streaming from Steam?
You're wrong about grid most games are 1080p 60fps. It lowers quality automatically if you haven't got the bandwidth. Grid will be getting a lot more games when the paid service starts. You'll also get a steam key for any game you purchase on grid. Expect a huge library soon! Please do you're research before you review.
Can You OR do you have video comparison between the SHIELD Vs ALIENWARE ALPHA?
Amazing setup, but requiring a Nvidia Graphics card on your PC is definitely not a plus.
this or the Steam Link?
Hey man,
have a quick question: I bought this for KODI and there seems to be a small issue with remote, there is no button to bring the menu feature in KODI to add movie to favorites or see movie information etc. Do you know any way way around this issue?
Thanks in advance
does it work on any tv?
If it has HDMI connection, yes. But the volume setting buttons on the Shield controller will only work with newer TVs. If it doesn't work, you have to change the volume with the standard remote.
can you play pc games on your mobile ?? or its just like playing a pc game using a controller in tv ??
Imagine this with windows 10. It'd be a pretty cool console killer!
Do you have to have a pc to get one of these?
You don't need pc, but without it, you will not be able to use the gamestream function. But everything else works fine.
this thing keeps me out of the office and lets me play games on a more social level (play on tv in the living room) and be apart of my surroundings and play games that are only available on PC. Now that the shield works with the xbox one wireless controller it makes for a great experience. I have this connected to my 65" HD tv streaming from my skylake 6600k 980ti PC and it works good enough for me...but if you want anything better than 1080p you gotta play on your pc. +kenny anderson It works with the xbox one controller???
Sorry no, I misspoke, it works with Xbox 360 controllers.
No native games review!? :(
can it playable offline?
Guy Dviri you can play the native games offline. i guess the PC streaming would require just lan connection, not true internet.
but to play grid games you would need internet.
is this a console or like a pc
will this play dayz?
If you stream from your PC.
can you use steam without streaming it?
No
thanks for answering
How much is it?
Ninotendo 199 for 16gb. 299 for 500gb
that would be USD
I thought the Nvidia Shield Controller DID have rumble?
simply for Kodi/Xbmc is this the best box available for that?
How do you put Steam on my Nvidia Shield
can it connect and play avi, or mp4 movies in ext hdd ?
Rafael Estevez yep, it is an android device after all
thx
Is possible to play games using wi fi or do you have to use ethernet cable
You can use wifi if you want and it will work but Ethernet will be better.
being an ouya owner, not much updates has been goin on with it, I may have to jump ship and nvidia is definitely maybe it
Nice vid !
It is the ultimate kodi and emulation box
Can u play with steam friends if they are playing of a PC and you are playing off the nvidia
Should i buy xbox 360 or this nvidia sheild
Please tell me
Rasel Ahmee neither
Is nvidia shield console is better than xbox 360
Rasel Ahmee yep
But if I buy alienware Alpha i5 what do you say!!!!!!
Rasel Ahmee Buy a pc. Or better yet build it yourself. Cheaper and more Games and free online services.
Would my network be more stable if I bought an Ethernet dongle for my nvidia shield ?
callum mcdonald Yes. Always. Ethernet is usually faster and has less packet loss than wifi.
Great review! I agree with members below to me you covered everything except for if it had functionality of the Dragon Box. However, I do not believe it does it is more fore online streaming features. Thanks
Tell me how to streaming game from PC to Nvidia Shield
So, I was under the impression that it can coprocess with the PC using its own graphics card. So, it won't help the PC in any way play games? You do need to be able to handle the game on the PC?
can it connect to steam
No.
Edited 19.10.2016
Can connect but...
(It can only stream games from the nvidia cloud and your PC. That mean you can't play all games from Steam like on your PC.)
ummmm 7:17
Can this work with wireless wifi
Yes, sure, but you need a 5GHz dual band router for smooth 4k60fps.
how do u get steam on it
Only one question: Can I play games available through Steam?
+arnas kmita gta oh okay
how much memory does it take for the paid g force streaming ? can Any of these games that one bought can it be moved to the sd card?
If you stream games, it doesn't use any storage. If you download games to the Shield (these are running on the Shield itself), you can move them to SD card, or any USB storage. But some programs might have problems with this.
+Derively thanks! just bought 500g one

Can you play pc games with out a pc?
You can stream pc games from the cloud at 1080p60fps, but it costs $8/month (the first 3 months free).
+Derively so do you need a pc?
+Gopher Streams no, you don't need a pc. all you need is a good internet speed, but there is only around 50 or so games you can stream
Do you know what the 'cloud' means? It is streamed from the Nvidia's servers through internet, so you don't need pc for that.
Yes, that is exactly what it does no pc needed =)
One question Steam?
Why would I stream the game from my pc and have shitty quality instead of just using a HDMI cable?
Ciprian Taranescu fun.
Could you possibly use it offline? like how we can access games in steam w/o internet? Like for say, we play PES offline?
What device (or devices) would you recommend to replace the NVIDIA Shield for Streaming Movies and Retro Game Emulation?
Still sticking to my xbox console. That was made for game mainly
can i use my steam on this console directly? i mean on the nvidia shield not in your pc!
Love the idea of the Shield. If you already have a gaming PC connected to your main TV with wireless controls, there would be no point in getting one. If the quality could match the PC streaming your game i might buy one. It would save money; id need one less PC. I have a hard time playing games without optimal performance. Can nvidia shield play with ps4 users????
I'm going to buy it but with a plugged USB had drive in going to install the ps4 emulator so and ps3 emulator so it will be a awesome console
I dont have a PC but would like to play overwatch with keyboard and mouse, should i buy it?
can I use a PS4 controller?
what about usb memory expansion.
You can attach a USB hard drive to it.
wafflebunny123 you can use A PS4 controller, you just have to have it hard wired.
I use my PS4 controller on my XBOXONE
Fernando Salazar can you use the x box s controller on the PlayStation then?
***** yes, you can use the XBOXONE-S controller in the PS4, but you need to buy an adapter, make sure you buy the right one.
I am currently using the PS4 controller in my XBOXONE, the only downside is that I can't see how charge the PS4 controller is, but works ok.
what kind of program it use i mean windows use directx and dx12 for the windows 10 but this is capable of doing windows some how!?
No they don't have achievements but maybe some games might have their own achievement system. Mostly no.

+Praveen reddy for any game not in the nvidia grid system, yes you need a pc. The cloud gaming works the same way streaming from your pc works, it is just done on a server somewhere else.
