I've never filled the oil filter like that before putting it back in- any benefits to it? I just lube up the seal with new oil like how you did, but I don't fill it up. Great video though, very helpful. Keep at it :) Blessings.
It's not necessarily harmful to not pre-fill it, but I look at it as priming. When you go to start the engine, it will be trying to pull oil from an empty filter. I just do it to make sure oil is already in the filter and I am not "dry firing" the engine. My dad always did it when I was a kid, so it's just something I have always done, but it makes sense in my mind.
@@SpeedCultureStudios Makes total sense, I help my brother do the oil change in his GR86 and his oil filter is upside down, so that'll be impossible to fill. but cars like the MDX, makes sense to do it, totally. Good stuff, I'd totally love to see more DIY stuff. Safe travels.
From the oil analyses I’ve seen high mileage uses a seal sweller to help the seals that usually harden over time and become brittle. I believe one of the things they use is ester.
I agree with you; those newer J series engines in these Honda SUVs can be tricky to deal with for accessing fluids! Have you done your timing belt, water pump, & valve lash adjustment yet?
So i have a question i have a infiniti m35 and i bought true coilovers i installed them everything is good but my rears i wanted them to be like flush where it hover right over the wheel but even at max height it still sits really low. Before i did the swap my oem shocks struts wtv, the rear was sitting lower then the front and im not sure what could be the issue maybe you would know?

That was all done shortly before we purchased this vehicle about 20k miles ago, thank goodness. So I have not had to dig in much deeper yet
Good to fill the filters 3 to 5000 miles, especially with turbor s
Dont these burn oil? Read they are prone to burn oil?
They can start to burn some oil with higher miles.
