- PlayStation 2 Slim brings lots of nostalgia, so I took some time to clean it and replay some old great titles. PS2 Slim is also known for having problems with the eject button, so in this video I'm also fixing this issue. This Sony PlayStation 2 is part SCPH-70000 Series, so if your PS2 Slim looks different, that may be because your version is different.
Any PS2 Slim fans out there?
Any PS2 Gamers?
yeah bro
Yes
Me I own a ps2 slim
I just founded my PS2 in my grandma attic
me from 2000 using this ps2 slim works cool smooth ❤
THANK YOU so much for the parts at 8:48 and the one earlier of you dealing with the power switch board. I have had mine broken for months since March of this year and have finally gotten a replacement switch so was scared to try and do it on my own without seeing how someone else puts the board in - and after going through maybe 10 videos, yours was the only one to show this! again, MUCH APPRECIATION!
I’m glad you found it helpful
Figured after i cleaned my PS3 i should clean my PS2, pleasantly suprised to see you having a video on this as well!
Thanks! Mine is running very hot, and it's visibly full of dust, so I will definitely be doing this to make it young and beautiful again :)
Good luck 🍀
You can clean it even more thoroughly by removing the screw on top of the memory card and controller port and then taking the whole PCB out. Mine had dust and what not under the PCB so it's good idea to clean it as well.
I was surprised there was just one screw connecting the PCB to the bottom case. Works like a charm.
thank you! my dad gave me his ps2 years ago and he's never cleaned. I haven't. and I just did today and man its much better.
Im gonna get my PS2 slim later today. I'll definitely use this video to help guide me. Thanks.
I took the 6 screws on my ps2 off but it was not easily coming apart, still feels stuck together on one side
You mean by that side where the metal is and that thermal pad? I cut my finger so bad it sas a bloody mess cause it was stuck together too. You just have to pry it carefully from both sides. Careful with the metal parts, cause I was prying with my hands, slipped, cut my fingers open and broke a little piece off. Hope it's what you meant in the comment.
Hi! I took mine apart and cleaned the plastic piece align with the spring for the eject button.
However; it actually seemed to have gotten worse with sticking.
There's no dirt or debris left.. Any idea what I might've done wrong?
Have you put the spring and everything else correctly?
@@YesterdaysTech I believe so! Is there anything I should watch for in particular though?
I need help I recently tried to hookup my bro ps2 through hdmi converter and it works it turns on but my problem is I just got a wireless controller but every time I turn on console it shows the browser/ configuration menu is that normal and the control won’t work or let me click anything could it be the ps2 and not the controller that’s the problem?
I suggest to try with a standard controller and see how it works
@@YesterdaysTech thanks for the feedback I just got it wireless because the era we live in but if I have spend money on a wired controller oh well then!
Why is there not a single soul that can show me how to take apart the top casing. I'm trying to get into some of the grimiest places and replace the hodge spring but I can't get it apart.
The universe taunts us
wanna link?
im sorry maybe im late
What did you soak the cotton wool pads in? 5:16
Rubbing alcohol
Speed up the unscrewing next time bro.
2:20 the little silver part on the left came off on my console. is there a way to put it back in place?
Yes, all you have to do is slide it back in, unless your's is different.
@@AllahIsAkbar thanks, idk why i was so worried 😂
@@user-au2296 You're very welcome 🤣
So is it safe not to replace that white tape that was holding down the wire connected to the fan? Just want to know before I take it off without a replacement.
It’s fine without that
Thanks.
So my ps2 it only runs one of the games I have but shuts off on its own if I try to play the game and recently shuts off on its own when I turn it on. Any ideas why?
Have you cleaned it? Does it get hot? If it’s clean and is still shutting down, it may be either the PSU or the motherboard
very good work bro i am just needing to tape down the orange ribbon because it scratches my disc any tips brother
I don't think it's a good idea to tape it, that needs to be flexible. Unfortunately this is a common issue to some PS2 Slim models. Try to to put it back, press it a bit, that may help. I know this was fully fixed on 9000 series
u are a life saver in 2024
I have a scph 77001a and 77001b. Would your tips for disassembling and cleaning your 70000 be any different than when doing so to my consoles? If so, how?
Also, how powerful should the vacuum cleaner be exactly when my consoles are assembled vs disassembled? The user manual says to use a low powered vacuum cleaner when assembled, but I want to know precisely how powerful.
If I don’t have a brush like the one that you’re using in this video, what would be some good alternatives?
You may get inspired by this video and you may find it helpful, but scph-7700 is somehow different than scph-7000. Not very much but they’re not identical. The last number differs by region, that one doesn’t matter. A handheld vacuum should be enough, 300 - 500 watt power. A 2000 or 3000 watt power vacuum may cause some damage, I would avoid such powerful vacuums. Regarding brush, the softer, the better, you can use a toothbrush but be gentle
@@YesterdaysTech Thanks. Got it
Im sorry this isn’t yesterdays tech this only came out like 3 years ago
I can't open the ps2 because one of my screws are stripped😢
I know it sounds self explanatory, but How clean should the disc tray be for 77001a and 77001b before inserting a ps2 game?
I think there’s no difference between a and b. Using a cotton pad and a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol is all you need, but be gentle with the optical laser unit. If the PS2 doesn’t have any problems in reading the disc, just clean the area with the cotton pad and avoid touching the laser
@@YesterdaysTech what u just said was very useful, but more specifically, I meant to ask: to avoid having ps2 disc scratched since they scratch very easily compared to ps3 discs, how clean should the disc area be? I vacuumed the area a little (without touching the lense of course!) and there’s still a little tiny bit of stubborn dust left behind. How concerned should I be about it?
If you disassembly it as I did in this video you should be able to clean it properly. If you don’t wanna do that, try to use a tooth stick where you don’t have access. Scratched discs is a common problem on some PS2 Slim models and that’s caused by the ribbon connection of the optical unit. It has nothing to do with dust. You shouldn’t be worried if your PS2 is not just like new
@@YesterdaysTech So which Ps2 slim models should I worry about scratching ps2 discs?
The newer the better, 90000 series should have the fewer problems
can someone plz tell me how to fix fan plug in? the tiny clips broke on me...
Any luck?
Any of y’all know how to take the logo out of the upper shell
Im such a palooka. The fan would not unplug. So with enough force, i think i ripped out the port for the fan.
Can you tell me what size screw driver you used to get the bottom 6 screws off?
Phillips PH0 or PH1 should do the job
nice fart music
How to stop crashing my game
