You called it the worst ps3, but in reality it is actually the best ps3 ! Maybe not a looker but the inerds are solid and reliable. No worrying and disk drive issue either.
Thank you very much. Your video helped me a lot. It is clear and the words are simple and focused on the important and simple things. The operation was completed successfully
I used your videos for my ps3 and ps4. Both were a great success. Nice and quiet. Very cool now, the rsx was at 71deg on idle, now the rsx idle at 49! I used the noctua nt-h1 paste. Can't tell the ps4 temp because it's not modded, but the jet fan noise is completely gone. Silent running now, thankyou for your easy guides :)
Thank You so very much I was nervous about replacing the thermal paste on my two ps3 super slim systems since I got them new in 2012 I have only cleaned the fan in the past but I followed your guide and repasted both of my ps3 and thay work outstanding now thanks
Very helpful video I did not have all the tools to fully take it apart so I took the side off and used a hand vacuum for dust and the toothpicks with soft padding to clean from the vents and other areas if you have anything that blows a little it also works for the dust mines no longer sounding clogged and loud 👍
Hah, at the end, I was working along with this to reassemble and started cracking up because he said another one a few times for the screws, reminded me of DJ Khaled😂. Great video, thank you very much for posting. It made the process easy!
Thank you I have three of these and two old fat boy one backward compatibility. Your video as detailed as it was, made for a great rider of how meticulous the cleaning was. Power up duder
Friend , this two silver screws with strange format... who's make pression on sink. I lost him , and i can't find to buy in everywhere. did you know where I find them ?
My ps3 super slim , just recently after about an hour of play ( gta v) the fan goes super loud so I’m guessing its in need of a clean and re paste, hoping I’m not to late🙏. Ive watched quite a few youtube tutorials on the process ,as I’ve never done anything like this before , but your video is the most clear and concise I’ve watched. Just waiting on the delivery of mx paste and security screwdriver kit and I’ll be good to go. Cant wait to see how little or lots of dust is in mine 😂 Thankyou for a great video 👍🏻
Turns out the dust wasn’t as bad as expected! Followed your video stage by stage, no problem other than getting the new paste to stay stuck evenly to the two chips, was a bit of a faff. Put it all back together, crossed my fingers and played gta v for 3 hours with no fan issues at all. Hopefully Ive saved my ps3 thanks to your video, thank you 👍🏻
I used this video as my PS3 was getting dangerously hot watching blu rays after a few hours, it was noisy too. After following your video I was able to clean all the dust out, which has made it quieter, but there wasn't much dust in it. I replaced the thermal paste (didn't know which one to buy as I can't find anything online about which one should be used) so just bought thermal paste. Applied the same amount as you in the video, but after 4hrs work on it today, the console is still red hot after around an hour of use. It's not any cooler. I don't know what to do with it. A guy in a local computer shop told me to clean the dust out and replace the paste too, and use RUclips videos, and I have..😪
Great video, love the attention to detail. Unfortunately for some reason mine isnt powering back on. I even bought another psu thinking i did something to existing one. Everything is plugged in as it should be but there is no red light when i plug it in and there is even a little crackling near the power supply when i plug it in. Ugh, not sure where I went wrong as it worked before i cleaned it
have you/has anyone received an over temp message 5 mins after boot up then the machine powers itself down? I thought refreshing the thermal paste might sort it but no luck. thanks tech for the great video.
Hello, i have a small problem afer doing all the steps the only issue i see is ps3 not reading my disc. I'm pretty sure the problem is the ribbon cable from the back. I can't find any explanation on how to put it correctly, could you explained how to put that cable in the right place?
Hey, so I just put it back together, but I found a spring for like a lever or something where I was working on it. Is that part in the ps3, and if so, which part? The spring looks like a V with a circle in the middle. If its important I want to put it back even if I just finished putting it back together 😮💨
i fully completely ruined my ps3, after i cleaned everything and assembled it back to together and turned it on and it started to make a loud sound and the screen would not load up, sound was loud coming from the fan and lots of air being pushed out 😔
Great video, thankfully my ps3 was already REALLY clean. All I had to do was put new thermal paste on and boom. Also is it normal for blueray disk to spin up and down while playing randomly?
I don’t really understand what you mean by spinning up and down, however, it’s quite normal to move and if everything works fine, you shouldn’t be worried
My PS3 super slim stopped reading game discs and blu-ray but still plays regular dvd movies. Im wondering if a cleaning and new thermal paste would fix this issue. Fingers crossed 🤞
If it stops reading discs, and especially if it's reading one type of disc but not another, it's the laser. No thermal paste will fix the laser, but if you're already opening it up, it's a good time for a clean and some new thermal paste. My PS3 fat started acting strangely with BD games and movies but played CD, PS1, PS2 and DVD just fine. Eventually anything BD stopped working completely. For that model you can choose to replace just the laser, the laser cartridge or the entire disc drive. I went for cartridge and it turned out fine. I don't know for superslim but if you're gonna replace something you might as well order something larger than the smallest component and have your broken one as backup.
You can try, sometimes Phillips Screwdrivers work even if they’re bigger in size. If your Torx doesn’t have a hole in the middle, I don’t think it will work as a Security Torx
I have mine since years ago and I don’t find this one in particular, but any tools shop should have them. For being future proof, also for more teardown, make sure it’s included Torx T8, T9 and T10 with a hole in the middle. They’re sometimes known as Torx TR8, TR9 and TR10.
Just buy it. I have ps2, ps3 and ps4 that required tr8. I think SNES and Gamecube need it too. I have 2 TR8 to be on the safe side. Remember to get the TR8 with a small indenture hole in it.
Everything is so hard to take apart on mine it’s stupid the power supply won’t come out the top cover broke some plastic pieces off better off buying a new one lol not worth the stress and you destroying your child hood systems….
Realized my Super Slim turns 10 this year, and I've never taken it apart to clean it. Followed along with your video and all went well and she's MUCH quieter now. Thanks!
Mine too, but are you skilled? The reason I asked is because last night I completely cleaned my ps4 pro. While watching a fully detailed tutorial. And everything went well, and I'm amazed because I don't have any experience doing so. Now I'm thinking about my ps3 super slim, but my concern is it looks a little bit more complicated to tear apart. So tell me, how was your experience
I had only one little problem (meaning my ps3 works, but...) When I connected the two front cables for the disk reader, the wider cable wouldn't get back in, I did push it so the reader works while the ps3 is horizontal, but as soon as I put it upside down the cable slips away and the reader doesn't work... Why did that happen?
3:51 I can't for the love of my life lift this up as easy as you did in the video. The left part of the top cover is still really hard to lift up despite removing all the screws. I'm afraid of forcefully pulling it out as I might leave permanent damage.
I seldomly use my super slim ps3 and a week ago, it's overheating. I suspect it's the thermal paste being dry and I was right. I have never done this on the super slim ps3. Your video help and I'm going to put it in my favorite folder. Thanks.
why does the ps3 get hot all the time before this disassembly there when I opened the previous owner's ps3 it had dried out thermal paste etc. i.e. do I need to change the thermal paste and how much or little of it
@@YesterdaysTech how do I apply the thermal paste, is one drop enough and I apply it? at first I put a large amount on it and spread it and piled the ps3 and turned it on and the ps3 got hot
