I really respect your empathetic takes on fast fashion, there really are so many circumstances where it's the only affordable option someone has when not living in areas with thrift/secondhand shops, and how so many people can't find plus sized options while looking for secondhand clothes. It's a complex topic and I appreciate the nuance

  • @christie_exist

There are so many times I'm glad to live in a country where healthcare is a bit cheaper to deal with.

  • @Antigonex

thrifting has become so expensive… due to people buying and reselling or inflation. i go and say “i can just buy this for cheaper on shein and save money”😭im legit about to just give up on fashion.. also, you got a new mic?? it sounds so good! yes!

  • @patriciapeters7604

"That's kinda like throwing glitter at a turd" is officially my new favorite analogy, thank you 😂🖤❤

  • @itsmandamade8751

I’m glad you discuss the texture of the fabric. As an autistic people knowing if it’s “good texture” or not is a big deal.

  • @MareaRayneOleander

I think it'd be cool to see stuff from older hauls that have been worn or washed multiple times and see how those things held up💛🤍💜🖤

  • @wanderingfaerie

i've struggled to get into fashion because as of right now i just cannot afford to splurge on nice clothing, and as a plus size person thrift stores are usually a huge waste of time, and whenever i watch fast fashion hauls it's usually people talking about how perfect every piece is then you buy it and are extremely disappointed. so, thank you for these videos!

  • @willhockstein119

Thank you so much for talking on the fact thrift stores are picked clean by resellers. I find it so ironic when people say “why buy fast fashion if you’re poor, just go to the vintage store or depop like me,” totally unaware “vintage” resale shops and sites like depop are way different from thrift stores and the reason why poor people sometime now have to use fast fashion and nothing is at the thrift store for us. It’s outrageous some of the same people who were shamed for thrifting as children are now are shamed for not thrifting as adults

  • @inannatvearfugl8770

its not poor ppl causing the fast fashion, its the rich ones who buy kilos of clothes at a time, then just donates it to african contries destroying thier textile industry.(sry 4 mispelling)

my dear mother has used zip closed, mesh washing bags. they’re a game changer for our delicate items; bras, tights. basically all my clothes get zipped up for washing!

  • @satanicisopod

i don’t shop from shein or romwe ever but i love watching these videos just because you are so knowledgeable about clothes and fabrics

What you say Angela resonates so much. I was introduced at the age of 13 to the subculture in 82. At first, I was asked if I liked grave yards, I was taken to the library tp see what books I checked out, I had already spoken out the lyrics to certain songs but was introduced to new music to see if I liked it, then I was taught some dance moves during a visit to a local cemetery, then, taken to a club and introduced to friends. The whole ceremony of getting ready was already a thing. The other goths were as weird and off the wall as I was and all my quirks and weirdness, they loved me and my antics that would have made me the outcast anywhere else. It really was an amazing time. Of course, these days it's unlikely that someone 13 would get taken across state lines and taken into an adult club like that but the same principle applies nonetheless. You just need to find your tribe when you're weird.

Angela thanks for this. I’m on disability and also gained weight in lockdown. This content is really useful to me. I take very good care of anything I buy and keep it for years and I can mend and do a bit of sewing to repair and hem things.

  • @CutieBanana09

As a bit of a baby bat in Florida I really admire you were able to pull all of this off in this heat when you lived here 😅. My wife likes to jokingly inform me that Florida is where goths go to die, meanwhile I’m thinking it may just be where goths go to learn the value of sweat proof foundation.

  • @celestialfox9282

I own the first dress you pulled out…one of the best items I have. I needed a longer dress for a friend’s wedding because of weather and it did not disappoint. I still wear it when my husband and I go out on dates

OMG, I collect cameos as well. The best places I've found many of them are small mom and pop thrift/antique stores. As always thank you for being realistic when it comes to fast fashion. I have shopped Shein a couple of times and have been happy with my purchases because they're things I'll keep for years. The maxi dresses are very boho looking (and I'm also a Free People fan) so I may have to take a look. As far as thrifting goes, for a lot of people working two or more jobs or long hours, they really don't have the time to go from thrift store to thrift store. And upsellers are now coming to predominantly Black and Brown neighborhoods to buy thrift clothes they'll turn around and sell for five times as much. What I appreciate about your channel is that you show baby bats and us elder goths how to shop smarter, not harder. The fact that you emphasize accessories rather than clothes is a game-changer in my opinion. You have one dress yet gave it several different looks just with necklaces and belts.

  • @Mickieshelton

Well there you are...exactly what Friday needed. Always listening. Always absorbing.

  • @sophisticatedPJs

extra tidbit of advice: as a plus size person with a larger chest I'm always wary of anything with cups. Anything that seems like it has a set chest size in mind I avoid because 9 times out of 10 it's too small, no matter HOW much you size up it just never fits right, and even if it does, it might not a year later (weight fluctuations are normal, y'all). I prefer things with stretch and adjustability. overly structured bodices just never work out for too long.

  • @Lillith_Luna

I always love when you do hauls! I appreciate how you inspect everything and give honest feedback. Plus, your style is so beautiful! I love the last dress as well!! ❤❤

Always honest and so good reviews. And I think that's a great guide line for all that can't afford more quality (and expensive) clothes.
