Romwe's aesthetic deserves its flowers. They really stand out among Shein's other clothing photos because they go all the way with the background and design. Even making the models look like fairies? I have to stan the impeccable vibes
Fast fashion is only really “fast” or disposable if you just throw it away after one season. If it’s a good piece and you no longer need it or it no longer fits (which happens to every BODY) you can donate it. Sometimes a piece just fails for some reason and that’s just that.
So true! Shopping intentionally and consciously is always best regardless of where. I have so many pieces from fast fashion brands that I’ve had for years & still wear and take care of to help them last 😊
@@DressMeUpScotty Right, I buy from Shein but I don't treat my clothes like fast fashion, I buy pieces I like and take care of them. I'm formerly homeless and during that time, I had all my clothes stolen on 3 occasions. Being able to now dress how I want to and feel good about myself is a big thing for mental health/self esteem, to be able to represent myself how I feel I am. I'm also tall and a very hourglass shaped size 16 so it's not always easy to find things that fit well even when they have plus size sections in a store, eg bootleg pants being high waters (NO lol), things being too "revealing" in certain areas, things being too loose around the crotch/waist so that they fit my thighs/butt. I also find a lot of skirts too LONG on shein in the plus section even though I'm tall and have long legs, or they kind of stick out at the back when they're meant to be fitted. Argh it's a whole saga lol.
@@pumpkinpepsi I 100% agree. The idea of “you can’t wear an outfit more then once” online is what I think has made fast fashion much more prevalent today. I have had the same black shorts from shein for 3 years and they are still going
Thank you for speaking up about how difficult it is to buy ethical clothing when you just don't have the access to. I feel awful that I cannot buy only ethically based clothing but, I understand that I need to do what is best for myself. I thrift mostly, but essentials such as under garments I don't feel comfortable thrifting. Thank you for your video and understanding.
Yeah I find those types of accessories are a good value. I always lose them so it’s better to not spend too much haha. Also before I buy accessories off Amazon I always check Shein/Romwe because sometimes they’re sourced from the same manufacture but Amazon charges like 3x more (convenience charge I suppose, you get it quicker).
sometimes the necklaces or belts can break, the chain is kind of cheap and it can break easily, i mostly have belts just from romwe and they tend to have a problem with them but overall very cute!
As a mid- to plussize girl, I like shein because it's size inclusive. Most of the brands and stores out there aren't, which is a huge bummer. Same with thrifting, I love thrift shopping and second hand shopping, but I rarely find good stuff :(
Same here! like I enjoy Depop and stuff, but a lot of sellers who sell y2k and fairycore items are really exclusive. And if they do have bigger sizes, they overcharge by a lot. There are a few rare gems, though.
I have a hard time finding clothes in thriftshops, and usually, i buy a piece of clothing from shein, so I can make a sewingpattern out of the piece of clothes, and then I will make more of the shein piece :-) Also, the brown skirt, I have had the same problem, and I alteret it, so the top part was shorter; so it wasn't that tight :-) Also your hair is so beautiful! Love your channel!
That is so smart! I love that! And you’re able to remake cute styles with better fabric and stitching and you have the satisfaction of wearing something you made. That is so cool! 🥰
You’re hilarious, wonderful and sensitive! I love your aesthetic and you challenge my biases-I’m 54 and think I’ve seen it all and acknowledge humbly how damn much I can learn from a younger person. Thank you for you!
omfg you are so gorgeous!!! And I love how you stated stuff about fast fashion, I only shop there 1-2-3 times a year and I'm not too accessible to thrifting and other shops since one, they're expensive (80 DOLLARS FOR A SHIRT???), And two, I'm not always able to go out. My family is not amazing financially wise (we have clothes, food, and a roof over our heads) and I'm so grateful to be gifted with that stuff. However, we can't always afford shopping from more expensive shops, so I escort myself to romwe/Shein. No I do not support fast fashion but I just don't have money.
This is SO valid!! ❤️ Accessibility is sometimes lost in the conversation & the argument of sustainability vs fast fashion can become really classist really quick! @@DressMeUpScotty I agree so much! I really try not to shop at fast fashion brands but they have the best deal, And I can't really get too many items from a shop that sells a ripped pair of jeans for 60 dollars 😭
I’m from Italy and we don’t have thrift stores. The few there are have very expensive. In my city there is one and a shirt I bought there costed 86€. So for me SHEIN is really helpful even because I’m still growing and a lot of clothes I have don’t fit me after a couple years.
I am not growing anymore and there are “fast fashion” clothing items that I bought like 3 years ago that I still use. I am always trying to take good care of my clothes, especially if I love them. If I don’t like something anymore or have grown out of it, I bring them to thrift stores or to something we call “leger des Heils” in the Netherlands, basically donating clothes for people who need them.
I have heard about CIDER recently and honestly they do sell a lot of cute stuff, they have different aesthetics too! I haven’t bought anything from it yet tho. Ngl some stuff are quite overpriced but overall it’s really cute TvT
Out of everything I definitely recommend the green tiered skirt… I’ve worn that several times now including to a Celtic Faire as a spring fairy ☺️ after using the floral tapestry bodice I’d definitely say it would be better to invest in a good quality corset. It didn’t want to sit right. I used a custom corset from Etsy for the faire and it was perfect!
I love when influencers be like 'Don't buy from sites like Shien and Romwe where you can find a top for £5, go to these other super fancy stores where you have to pay £80 for a top'. I feel like clothes nowadays are either cheap but bad for the environment or really expensive which only rich and middle-class people can afford. And thrifting and finding items that you like and fit you is not as easy as people make it to be.
Stumbled upon your channel not that long ago and I absolutely love it!! I love all of your videos and hope you are doing well! If not that’s okay too, and hope you are doing as well as you possibly can!❤️🌷
I very much disagree with the idea that dressing the way you think looks best is a right. Ideally we would all like our clothes, but having very specific articles of clothing is actually not that important, and certainly doesn't justify buying new clothes every month.
Yeah I’m sure it can be challenging! I’ve been wanting to learn to sew so I can learn to hem and tailor my own clothes. I struggle with pants being too long myself.
I really want to try Romwe but I'm a bodybuilder and it's impossible finding clothes that fit my body. I have massive quads and biceps. but my waist is relatively slim. so buying pants is a living hell. sleeves are my enemy unless they stretch A LOT. sigh. I have a sewing machine and a serger so... I'm constantly having to alter stuff I buy. 😩
I grew up with rarely buying my own clothes or having them bought for me, it's always hand me downs from relatives especially from abroad so they're usually soooo sustainable and lasted me years. When I started finding my own style and aesthetic, I started thrifting, it's so much fun and better than buying something new (money issues mostly) then just started sewing/ up cycling my old ones and just today I thrifted this really cute sun and moon mini skirt and was soooo in-love, but it arrived and I can't even explain the disappointment when I saw the material that was used. It was literally like the shower curtain material and behold, it was a Romwe skirt. I hated that the seller didn't explicitly say that it was from a brand like that, I get fast fashion, I've had some items from such companies before that I still use but damn this one I can't
Yes! And I’m sure I could do more to hold these companies accountable as a consumer… but I will never shame anyone for buying from FF because they can’t afford anything else because I am also a broke babe ✌🏼
3 minutes in, I fully agree. I buy fast fashion because I earn less than minimum wage because I can't work fulltime because of health reasons. I still have primark sweater i got in 2018.
