i guess some people would argue it's science fiction but i've found it pretty easy to thrift a steampunky vibe with victorian-esque shirts/dresses and blazers with that kind of old military button style. it seems easy to me to wear in a subtle way when you don't wear a top hat/monocle/goggles. just a fun lil retrofuture vibe, especially with the right accessories
@@Justpondyippee you could, if you've got the guts! I've seen people wear them almost as a headband, like not actually over your eyes and that's a more subtle way
I noticed that these outfits also happen to be quite disability friendly! I wear knee braces, so I'm always looking for fun ways to style leggings and skirts, I want to wear more belt pouches as they seem like they'd be easier to use a cane with than purses and not weigh down my shoulders and back like backpacks do, and they all look very comfy and good for people with sensory problems!
I said to my husband recently that I wanted to wear everyday cosplay, so I felt like I was dressed up but not everyone would know and he looked at me like I was mad but I'm so pleased to know I'm not alone!!! Xxx
My husband ALSO looked at me like I lost my marbles 😅😂 I think he thinks I’m going out as a thull wearing princess in full getup when I’m only finding brown belts to pair with a long flowy dress (I sow myself) and with normal sleeves 😅 I FEEL like a princess but I look quite normal (to his relief 😂)
I used to be a Goth, now I m more boho/ country mix with a vintage twist. I thrift a lot. Love to upsicle. Love making unique clothing. Embrace your innerchild, be weird and stay weird. Lots of love, hugs X
For hobbitcore, it's very influenced by english folk clothing since that's where tolkien was from, and thats reflected in the books (the shire is based on the midlands/warwickshire and other close shires, where tolkien lived)
My personal style is all over the place. I mostly thrift my clothing, so I build up miscellaneous items to use some of my gorgeous pieces that'll have to be pried from my corpse one day. My favorite piece has to be a stretch belt I got thrifting; it's cream, with an ornate double sided leaf buckle in an antique gold finish. I love pairing it with a nice long sleeved blouse underneath my turquoise sundress (it has an asymmetric hem that's longer on the sides, so it's my butterfly dress).
I also feel the same way about skirts feeling too modest sometimes, I have taken a necklace and looped it into the side of my skirt so it creates like a bunched slit, so it's asymmetrical. And isn't permanent so you can choose to have it long or with the faux slit.
Love this breakdown! I didn’t realize how cool Knightcore is. Growing up, I wanted to be Goth so badly. But I hate black. I realize now that what I was truly drawn to was the “gothic”, not “goth”- the dramatic medieval look of Gothic art. The jewel tones, the bell sleeves, the lace-up details of corsets and grommets in blouses. A bit witchy, a bit emo, but very romantic and medieval. Probably why I was drawn to TV shows like “Merlin” and BBC’s “Robin Hood”! So now that I have realized these elements, I am drawing closer to my love for Whimsigoth and incorporating little nods to bohemian fantasy in my outfits!
Love your enthusiasm. Love your look. I'm an old hippy from the 70's and it's a pleasure to watch your videos. Hope you keep on with your stylish and informative videos.
The front seams on the corset style tops are called princess seams for easy searching :) I also love josef seibel shoes for a funky historic look! Bonus is that they are super comfy

I am right there with you on the Target leggings, especially the ones with the diagonal pintuck detailing. So comfortable and sturdy! I have a LOT of leggings and jeggings from Target and I wear them so much I've actually had to fix the split inner seams one a couple of them.😂 Wild Fable is also great for cheap and comfy midriff shirts that can layer under corsets and bodices for the Fantasycore aesthetic without the long sleeves, or under camisoles or slip dresses or overalls. (We're heading into summer swelter now, so definitely going for the cottons and linens. 😂)
I always sound like a basic white girl when I’m like “I love target” but honestly they’re great for a multitude of aesthetics 😂 can’t go wrong with those leggings. And yess!! Wild Fable and some of their other in house brands have been KILLING IT with their cottagecore/whimsical clothes. Yeah I feel like no matter what anime/comic convention I go to in every area I’ve been to them I’ve seen extreme, no doubt evangelical type Christian’s, picketing outside with massive signs and megaphones telling the con-goers & cosplayers to repent and accept Jesus and that them dressing up is the work of the devil & they’re going to hell for it or some nonsense. Luckily the event staff usually call the police on them because it causes major traffic and social disruptions. On topic of shoes riding boots look great and are great for riding but if you are going to a faire or just going to be walking a lot they are not the most comfortable
Yup! Lots of layers! Plus I think a lot of people online focus on the male side of hobbitcore style since the movies focus on the male hobbits (Frodo, Sam. Bilbo, Merry & Pippin). Altho Rosie Cotton has been getting a lot of love lately ♥️
Sigh... I desperately want to do this as a man, but masculine fashion trends have evolved so much that it seems impossible to do it in a low-key/casual way
You could try incorporating earth tones into your wardrobe! They are neutral but still give a slight fantasy vibe. You could also try getting some vests, and if you wear glasses you could try a different shape. All subtle details that could help you with a whimsical vibe
I've been searching for androgynous styles so I feel you. I think what works is following advice like this, but altering the silhouette shapes. I don't want waist accentuation for example, so I skip the waist cinch belt and go for a metallic belt that still gives the knight vibe!
I enjoyed your video but please, respectfully, can you not edit/move your camera every time you move your hands or say a new concept? It makes your video hard to watch. I know people zoom in to make a point but this is way too much. 🙏

@@DressMeUpScotty that's awesome. I'll have to check back sometime :)
On topic of shoes riding boots look great and are great for riding but if you are going to a faire or just going to be walking a lot they are not the most comfortable
Why not be extra and wear a crown! I have a wonderful fairy crown that I got from an Etsy shop in the UK.
✨🙌 agreed! It’s so fun too 🥰
I just wanted to point out the video has eleventyeleven views right now.
😂🥰 Yesss haha (I missed it but I love that)
Hobbitcore is like cottagecore but for cold weather/not so much poof
Yup! Lots of layers! Plus I think a lot of people online focus on the male side of hobbitcore style since the movies focus on the male hobbits (Frodo, Sam. Bilbo, Merry & Pippin). Altho Rosie Cotton has been getting a lot of love lately ♥️
Why is it that you pronounce the word whimsigoth “whimzahgoth”?

Hobbitcore 😂 whattt 😂😂
Hello!
👋🏼 👋🏼
A lot of those styles look a lot like German style from long ago
I enjoyed your video but please, respectfully, can you not edit/move your camera every time you move your hands or say a new concept? It makes your video hard to watch. I know people zoom in to make a point but this is way too much. 🙏
I guess I might have gone a little overboard this time 😂
Sorry what?! Leggings with pockets…?!
