TIP TO EVERYONE: Many users complain because when pulling the liquid with the syringe, the liquid does not flow out. The reason is that the circuit is closed by the lever pump piston! In order to open it you should unscrew the small hose that is between the brake hand lever and the handlebar! Do like 3-4 anti clockwise turns and keep pumping with the lever. If it’s soft, you can decide to use the syringe (this time liquid will flow down) or simply open the liquid box close to the lever and put the liquid from the top. Once done, you can calibrate the lever hardness by screwing (clockwise) the same hose so it will make the lever cilinder longer and able to make more pressure. I did not remove the handlebar but I positioned the bike in a way to have the liquid container parallel to the floor. I feel it’s very easy approach and less prone to damaging cables. Hope it helps everyone.
Tip for everyone: The wires within the handlebars can be disconnected near the fork. I had to learn the hard way and accidentally pinched the wire causing my boost button to stop working.
@@jasperw4281 you could switch the two buttons at the connection inside the fork. Luckily for me I live near a Vanmoof store in San Francisco so I was able to get a new button from them.
I have to replace the buttons. So I have to dismount the hole break lever from the bar. So I'm going to change the brak oil, without dismounting the whole handelbar.
Hi, Do you have any idea why I might not be able to bleed my brakes? I used the same kit and did everything as in your instructions, but when I pull on the syringe there is resistance and virtually no fluid comes out.
Due to the system being a closed circuit, you’ll need to allow air into it so that you can pull out the fluid. To do this you can remove your handlebar like in the video, or you can remove the one way valve plate which is on the top side of the break, it has the vanmoof logo on it along with two hex screws. There will be a seal once you remove it, try the syringe again, it should allow you to extract the old fluid while drawing air into the system.
I am struggeling to get the handlebar back on the frame because the wire of the push-buttons are in the way. I almost damage one wire while trying. Is there a trick how to do that?? I tried pushing the all the way up and all the way down before putting the handlebar back on the frame but nothing works. I cannot push the handlebar all the way back on the frame because I feel the resistance of the wires...
Maybe next time dismount the break lever from the handlebar. Think this could be easier. I have to change my buttons next week. So I'm going to bleed the breaks, without removing the handlebar. Hope it works.
I had to bleed my rear brakes but apparently the lever is still very soft. I read something about the small hose close to the lever but did not understand what’s its role
Good question - I've added links to the products in the description. I don't know if the S5 brakes are exactly the same as I've never used one, but I imagine that the process is roughly similar, maybe (hopefully?) with some improvements around not having to take the handlebars off.
@@cianmmjust to answer my own question on the S5 brakes. The reservoir screw is on the topside of the brake lever, so no requirement to remove the handlebars. The kit you link to will also work for the S5.
Guys! If you do not use the distance rings on the frame (that the handlebar is higher) watch this video first!!! Otherwise you will break your wires inside the handlebar!!! ruclips.net/video/8L4QEpAlPeE/видео.html VanMoof S3 & X3 | How to replace or remove play from the handlebar

I have the same issue do you have any idea how i can fix it

How did you solved your issue? Please respond

Thanks for the video!
Hi,

Guys make shure to screw the little adjustment screw completly out
Which screw do you mean
Hey. What adjustment screw?
I feel this is the thing that does the trick. There’s a small hose close to the lever, inside the round shape at the base of the lever

I had this problem. Such a bad design. Only solution was to add one of the collars designed to extend the bar height.

Great video. Which bleed kit did you use? Are the S5 brakes the same?

Hi Alex - it's a mounting system from Peak Design. I think it's fantastic - really really secure and also very small. eu.peakdesign.com/pages/mobile

Because that Japanese video is not doing a full bleed. It's a clever way to do a topup though!
