Top Ten Creepiest Yu-Gi-Oh Cards (Vol. 2)

- Yugioh is all about variety. We get cool, cute, and calming cards. But some of the cards that stand out the most are the creepy ones. There’s something about these cards that seem off, or they’re just straight up trying to scare us. I’ve covered creepy cards once before, so it’s time to look at even more unsettling cards in Yugioh. The cards or archetypes simply have something creepy about them. It’s all of to subjective interpretation, so let’s find some more creepy cards. Judgment Meter joins me for this list.

Judgment Meter is the best parts of these videos. Always love hearing her thoughts on stuff as they can sometimes spiral into unexpected places.
I love Judgement Meter
Fluffals and Frightfuls are adorable as hecc in my eyes. I used to collect actual partially destroyed stuffed toys on local thrift stores and bring them home then wash them up, sew and restitch them up, then just add some extra features and just show them off as some amalgamation. when i started playing yugioh the fluffal and frightful decks made me hit it right at home in the end. it aint much but i love it to death
I once did that for an art school project. I then went to a toy store so I could take a picture of said creature in it's natural environment, though neither of its original parts came from that particular toy store

I run a Frightfur engine in my Branded Despia deck, because it's basically a free fusion.
It does feel a bit out of place though...
EDIT: "Outer Entities look nothing like Yugioh cards!"
My brother in Christ, I'm sure that's the whole point.
Don't you think they are Konamis version of Five Nights at Freddy's?
Your edit is absolutely pointless considering no one made the claim
Haha Love J.M.'s take on Necrofear. I always felt this was a fittingly macabre, yet underrated card ok its ccult theme association. The mannequin like body is not its true form. This is one of yugiohs first Liche inspired monsters. A Liche is an alchemists that specializes in necromancy and soul transference to house their own souls in other bodies to attain a level of immortality. These bodies cam be corpses or artificially created forms to give the alchemist a level of invulnerability. The body won't function like a typical one and will typically be more difficult to damage and ultimately expendable. It will not age like a normal body and once it IS damaged enough, the host can simply transfer their soul to yet another body. The name of this monster and its surrounding teeming is what gives it away as it doesn't actually have liche in its name. "Necrofear" or fear of death. The driving force for someone to accept the horrific cost of becoming a liche. Since Bakuras occult deck is all about making dark deal with disembodied spirits, this fits in perfect. Necrofear IS a disembodied spirit possessing an artificial form through an accepted dark ritual. Dark Necrofear's effect eludes to this even more as it will hijack an opponents monster, equipping itself yo it and giving you corntol when it is destroyed. What is it simulating is the mannequin body being destroyed but the alchemist's now freed soul inhabiting the monster that destroyed it. It posseses other monsters bodies to continously avoid what it fears most, death, and stay immortal. It is funny that there ARE other liche cards in yugioh with liche actually in the name but they don't seem yo encapsulate the concept as well in their effects as Dark Nercrofear does despite the name more eluding to its state than simply recognizing it. Maybe it's a commentary on how the fear of death has so consumned the alchemist to the point it no longer is an individual entity but essentially its fear manifested as a sole defining trait? Considering that Yami Bakura is an echo of the Thief King, this is fitting for his boss monster. The Thief King witnessed his entire town slaughtered as a kid and thus a seed of fear was instilled in him that manifested as the spirit Diabound/Zorc coming into our realm. This caused him to rely on Zorc's Dark powers to not only survive but seek immortality and defeat the few he felt could threaten that. Zorcs powers include splitting his own soul to instil into other objects/people. We first saw this in the orgional "season 0" manga when Bakura was first introduced in the board game arch. He could transfer the sounds of people into objects and split his own soul I to objects to gain a level of control over them, like his dice. Later in millennium world, we learn the Thief King not only split a piece of the Zorc Soul he had into Akhenaden to complete Zorcs corruption over him started by the millennium ritual, but also put a piece into the millennium ring. This is why he even exists in the current world. When the Pharoah self sacrificed, the intent was to permanently trap himself and Zorc in the Pendent (millennium puzzle.) However, he did not know a piece of the Thief King and Thus Zorcs own shredded soul, was in the ring. This allowed the Thief King spirit in a limited form to posses Bakura. Once it gained more proximity to the Puzzle, it gained power and part of its memories from being so close to the rest of its souls. This "activated" more of the trapped Zorc soul in the puzzle and caused yhe freed part of Atem to start gaining its own identity again as well. The Thief King was so fearful of death by witnessing the millennium ritual that it allowed Zorc to partially manifest through him and this give him a power he used to avoid death by placing parts of his/Zorc's soul in other vessels. This worked for thousands of years despite zorcs initial defeat at the hands of the Pharoh. The Thief King/Yami Bakura IS the Necrofear. He is a liche avoiding death thrpugh soul teansference and his use of it as his boss monster is a reflection. We already sort of knew this from earlier seasons however we wouldn't know the true extent of his backstory until Millenium World, after we see his use of the card, so it is sort of a semi foreshadowing. I think the more feminine featured design and childish behavior of the Necrofear holding the doll compassionately is no coincidence. It is an illusion to the innocent Bakura himself being used as conflicted host body for the sinister spirit within that seeks to discard him and posses something stronger once it confronts him. This is also why Curse necrofear looks more sinister. It IS the related evil sprit before possessing another host body. It is a state during the soul transference between hosts and a peek at what the necrofear truly is in its most pure form. That's why it alps appears like the prior version but ethereal. It is the soul, still manifested to appear more like its most recent, slain host body but no longer bound to it and thus demorphing into pure spirit energy. Voldemort from Harry Potter is very much a Liche in the same vain and if you know what happened to him after his "death" with the split soul horcruxes keeping him alive, you can understand the weakness of a liche. If they ARE separated from their host body before transference, they are left in an ethereal state. They can potentially posses othe entities/objects as a spirit, depending on their strength as one buy are not physical until they do. Voldemort split his soul so much that it was tethered to earth when he died, but the remaining host peice was so deformed and weak it needed assistance to repair itself. Zorc on the other hand was a powerful demon from another realm. It already started from such a strong base that by splitting its soul, these pieces and even pieces split off of it even had some incredible power of possession afterward. There were still restrictions however like with the Theif King having very limited influence and consciousness over Bakura until it came close to the main soul source in the puzzle. Even in this state though, it survived and could transfer the souls of Bakura's friends into game pieces. The Thief King spirit was certainly a curse on anyone who possessed the ring and thus Curse Necrofear's name is fitting since it is a representing of the Yami Spirit residing in the ring but without its host.
I love for it to have a fusion monster "chaos necrofear. Effect/fusion: dark necrofear + chaos necromancer. This card gained 600 ATK for every gy and banished fiend type. All fiend type monsters you control are unaffected by card effects. When this card is removed from the field you can remove 3 monsters from your gy and choose the following: take control at least 3 of your opponent monster from their side of the field. 2. Special summon 1 fiend type from your graveyard. ATK 2200 dfs 2800

Oh no... those Outer Entities are 100% Lovecraftian... and I love it! Konami, we need more! And a spell card called "Miskatonic University"
I would play yu gi oh again if they released a functional lovecraftian deck... Well not really, but I know people who would.
I adore the gimmick puppets. The English dub centered them so bad. I love them in the sub where they were shown in all there grotesque glory.
Graverobber's Retribution always stook in my head since the first time I saw it. The whole scenario is so creepy and uncomfortable. The fade lighting, the cornered man, the whole thing feels so claustrophobic.
Absolutely. It was always a creepy card that fit the early card design/the "adult" card art style I'd see on mtg cards as a kid

I miss the old yugioh designs. They were very simple and designed to look like actual monsters or mystic creatures. They would would add so much value to the game by giving the player a sense of awe when admiring the designs. I haven’t played yugioh in a while but with some of the newer designs it’s very hard to tell what’s going on at times. There’s so much going on with the illustration that it can come across as messy in a negative way.

I always liked the outer entity monsters being extra deck only. They are literally "outer entities" outside of your deck
Anti raigeki is the worst of the "specific card negates" crew since if your opponent activates raigeki and he controls no monsters (which is more likely to happen since it is better to get rid of opponents monsters before starting any combo), you cannot activate anti raigeki
Who's Judgement Meter's insert supposed to be? The red uniform one. I am sure I've seen that anime before.
In duel links, call of the grave was a dead card until monster reborn was a thing several months ago.
I never knew Worm King was censored I always saw the card with its Japanese artwork and somehow completely missed the TCG one .. is it still censored ? or did it get a original artwork release at some point ? cuz it needs too if not . poor king did nothing to deserve his mouth removed .
I always noticed the creep factor of metamorphosis. I would even joke about a scapegoat token somehow morphing into a thousand eyes restrict in the most body horror way possible.
The only thing scary about scary moth is that Worm ass, otherwise I think this Design fucking rules!
Tin Archduke deserves a mention here. Of any of the aces I have seen the vids of in Duel Links is one of the most disturbing.
Where are my Tindangles, MTTL? WHERE ARE THEY?!
As cohost Sam has told me, Tindangles are cute, so they belong on a Cute Yugioh Monster list
The gimmick puppet card designs look as if Sid from Toy story was a Yugi-oh artist.
I wish Gimmick puppets have better Rank 8 monsters, they are nice but compare them with the Galaxy Dragons that nuke the whole field, negate cards and also punch really really hard.
Not to mention the "Puppet" spell and traps are kinda weak in their effects when you remember that the archetype doesn't have a way to search for them, "Junk Puppet" is a standard revival card but better run Monster reborn instead of a full playset of "Junk Puppet".
October is here and this is a great way to start!
We have to appreciate that Judgement Meter said yes to be in the video. Otherwise we wouldn't have this one. She has been the solo co-host for a while now

Judgement really has the bes sense of humor in all of RUclips 😂
Thanks
I always found it kind of funny how the "worm" archetype was reptile and not insect i feel like that might have been slightly more fitting
It's because they are aliens invading from outer space in their lore, if I'm not mistaken. They are also the reason why the Ally of Justice archetype have effects that are strong against light attribute monsters and cards with flip effects, as those cards were apparently created to combat the threat of the Worms

3:10 Considering the scary appearance of Gadarla, I think it's more likely inspired by Battra, which is essential the evil counterparts to Mothra.
It's a Pre release card in the OCG, but White Zoa of Dogmatika looks creepy AF.
And the implication it's the Dark god behind a seemingly pure and holy religion makes it creepier.
