Vampire Lord was such a powerful monster back in the day. When equipped with an equip spell, the only way to deal with it was by destruction and then it would come back the next turn. But it's aged so badly
even without equips he was hard to out, because of the self revival effects as well as the bleed effect getting rid of monsters that could out him but yeah he aged horribly
When you said "He's a hungry zombie," I thought there was a "Hungry Zombie" card that that was actually a pun on, but unfortunately it doesn't exist. It just sounds like the name of a card that Konami would make for Yugioh.
I love your voice dude and all of your special guests and how much knowledge you have of yugioh I grew up with classic yugioh and left it after GX then I saw vrains and was like wtf is all this lol nice to have you explain a bunch of stuff
I wanna mention that Moonlit chill isnt actually the worst ghost sister. She saw and still sees niche play in sidedecks. Ghost Reaper is actually the worst one arguable, she sees the least amount of play, even in the most recent tear 0 format where she is supposed to shine, and also in decks like floowandereeze that dont even use their extra deck she doesnt see play.
The bottom 3 of my ghost girl ranking all seem interchangeable, so I'm open to say Reaper is the worst. The main hangup I had about Moonlit Chill was that there were a few other handtraps that did her job, but with more freedom or less annoying limitations, but I can totally see how it has side deck purposes if you know you're going second. The main thing Reaper and Sister had going was their effects were more unique, so they were harder to substitute, but I agree that life point gain or putting together an extra deck blindly are less useful than a quick effect negate on paper.
An interesting thing about Zombino that was left out when localizing him was the last line of his flavor text, "That is why they will never meet again." It's a sadder story. You forgot to mention that the OCG names of Yokai Girls have 2 readings which the TCG names references both readings.
That both cool and disappointing that they removed in English. I guess they didn't want to make it overly sad, which is not a good reason. I didn't even think to look at the direct translation since there was so much more we wanted to talk about with them, but if they ever get featured in another video, I'll definitely bring that up!
For Vampire Genesis, you to remember that the deck had a huge emphasis around milling at the time and the best card for that was soul absorbing bone tower. The deck was more focused around locking with that monster's effect on field and burning through your opponents deck with Zombie sepcial summons. Two bone towers were great but if you didnt have two out, you relied on whatever else was on the field to be protection first. Pyramid turtle was good because it could bring another out and mill at the same time, locking your oppoent into a temp loop and protecting bone tower. Sadly there were limits to this and gravyard special summoning for the deck at the time. It was there but not always enough. Most zombies in the deck could be beaten over with a boss moneter given time so Genesis was a back up. It had high enough attack that it was not easily battled over and could act as a last resort special summon generator to mill out the last several cards of your opponents deck. With three bone towers on field, drop a 5 or higher monster to bring out a pyramid turtle from the grave and thats 6 cards sent from your opponent's deck to the grave.
I mean, that's the issue in its design. It is an emergency back-up card, but it relies on a specific Level 5 monster to be present on the field and _removes_ said monster from the field in order to be summoned. Especially for the 2005 meta, that is way too specific of a condition, so 60 - 70% of the time it's a brick that even when summoned could easily just get rolled over by any destruction/bounce at the time. If it just required a Level 5 or higher Zombie monster, instead of exclusively Vampire Lord, to be summoned, then it would be seen everywhere. And I don't think it would have been broken with that easier summoning condition either, since, you know... BLS was already out at the time.
In Yugioh Sevens they created a lot of goofy retrain versions of classic yugioh cards. There are several Kiaba ones based around cooking. It seems like Wightbaking may hace been origionally designed as one but considered too good to pass up making a regular TCG card. I also want to see J.M.'s reaction to Blue Eyes White Cat and Red Eyes Black Cat. Im sure it would be the most adorable ever! 💛
Some of the Ghost Trick cards remind to me of Darkstalkers in a way. Speaking of Darkstalkers, I really like your Forgotten Darkstalkers list so much that maybe you should make a follow up that should involve niche fighting games that should be revived Darkstalkers included.
Fusioh Richie was basically a less aweful version of Spirit of the Pharoah. That was a boss zombie who had even greater/weirder requirments to hit field in the form of 3 trap/spell cards played through each other in sucession like the Spirit board. Once it suceeded though, you got a monster with 100 less ATK than Fushio Richie, 900 less DEF and a much more watered down version of its effect. It can special summon up to 4 zombies from your graveyard, but only on its summon and only level 2 or lower normal zombies..there were a couple weak vannilas relaeased alongside it as the Pharoahs servents in theme so this seemed to be the point aroudn the useless gimik. There were few targets at the time aside from them, no real use unless you planned to just tribute them immediatly for something big and required tou to jump through SO many hoops to do it. Fusioh Richie sucks on its own but was a mich better version of another card that should have been much better from the start, considering its implied importantance in themeing not only to the pack it came in, but the whole series! It is the SPIRIT OF THE PHAROAH! HOW COULD TOU MESS IT UP SO BAD! Yami is like..THATS not me! I dont even KNOW that guy! I SWEAR! IMPOSTER! That said..Fusioh Richie could be seen as an evik counterpart to Mahado as the Spirit of the Pharaoh can be seen as a crappy verion of Atem.
I believe (& I could be wrong about this) that at Plaguespreader's peak, he was placed on the ban list. To deal with such banning, konami released pain painter (I completely forgot about Mauler). Ever since Plaguespreader got unbanned, painter & mauler fell by the way side.....to an extent for any Painter & Mauler fans out there.
Yeah, Jeff mentioned it, but Mauler came out in 2022. I'm usually good about mentioning the year a card came out for context, but I forgot to there. Still strange that they'd give it the Plaguespreader relation when the specific Plaguespreader synchros are not used much, outside of maybe Doomkaiser Dragon.

Supposedly, zombies and fiends were going to be included in the same type. They would have more of a relation and synergy because of this and I believe some of the earlier video games refelects this too. The message that they were being made their own thing more for the manga/anime story not reaching the makers of the real cards seems to be the only real explaination I can find for the pumpking/castle weirdness. That or they wanted to elude to a greater halloween theme beween the two bosses to combine into a singel deck for that. The castle was the lead for a deck based on fear of what lurks in the dark and pumpking is the boss of an undead deck. Both are unique though as castel is about illusions of dark monsters and pumpking is a clear jackolantern that boosts the image of the scary thinks..almost like halloween decorations that enhance the atmosphere. A huanted housecastle and scar jacko lantern. Id love retrians that reveal these two as just thar and everything is being seen through the eyes of a child. I made a bunch of costome cards years ago that buikd the fear/despair from the dark cards into a simialr archtype. It had supporting spell/trap cards in the form of projectors and speakers to reveal the monster was created from the emotional state of the person being tricked in the graveyard over a real monster itself. Panic was a mid level version and Demise was a final verion after giving into depair. Later card releases showing the Marauding Captian and othrr face down fear with physical consequence sadly ruined that but I'd love to see Castle and Pumpking do that dance! Could even have the Ghosttricks get in on it with them being represented as the children in costume. Everything more real and spooky was really just their imagination on the big spooky night!

How about the fact that Great Mamoth of Goldfine was shown to be a fusion of The Snake Hair and Dragon Zombie in the anime..but at another point we see Dragon Zombie is itself made through Call of the Haunted used in combination with Crawling Dragon. Funny fact about Ghost Mourner and Ghost Sister: They're staples thanks to time rules. This turns them from laughable members to frustrating cards to deal with.
IIRC Wight is a term used for a type of undead where the person retains their memories/personality from when they were alive unlike zombies who are strictly mindless and either require a controller or just move by instinct to procure food So it makes sense the SS and family have actual personalities and made a family
Off topic, but did you ever cover rivals in fighting games? There is some overlap with the deuteragonist top 10, but the rival is not necessarily the deuteragonist.
So..the names of ghosteick are mostly done to reflect little kids G-rated, friendly persepctives. The Warwilf though..is a sad other story..it seems the TCG wanted to cram him into a neglected series of cards depite it doung nothing to help them. Warwolf is a series of werewolf themed cards that actually started failry early on with Pitch Black Warwolf. It was a counterpart to Mirage dragon with Dark Atribbute and Beast Warrior Type but the same effect and stats. We also Got Gene Warped Warwolf as the first 2000 attack, level 4 vanilla. He was an earth attribute beast warrior which was nothing too special for support at the time, but still a big deal since he was the first normal summonable monster with such high ATK stats that didnt have a cost or negative effect to compensate. Aaand..that was it for a while. They kind fo just forgot about the series of monsters..they eventually came out with T.G. warwolf which just..was confusing. It was also a Dark attritubute Beast Warrior but had pathetic stats and an effcet clearly meant just for T.G. support. They finally came out with the Ghsotrick one that seeemd to solidify the fact the series was being relagated to name only cameos. They were just going to be random, unlreated monsters, popping up in other archtypes rather than creating a coherent one of their own. I really liked the idea when they forst came out and wanted to see what they could be. The waring theme seemed interesting to me and iw as currious if they would be battling the vampires or something else altogther. Perhpas another new archtype. They had both supernatural and scientific elements with the first two cards giving a little lore as to the organization begind their efforts. There were also other itneresting werewolf monsters at the time that reflected odd attributes or manipulations like Fenrir and Lycanthrope so I got excited to see what canid based madness the Warwolves would offer..and it was madness..boring..confusing..stupid, madness.
You got a detail wrong with Ghostrick Ghoul.... it doesn't buff a Ghostrick by combining it's ATK with it's DEF, and buffs them by combining the ATK of all face-up Ghostricks and putting them on that one monster (which then becomes the only monster to attack that turn). As such, you can get some VERY big numbers with that guy in your deck.
@@MrTopTenList No prob... as someone who likes the ghostrick archetype enough that I made an OC that uses them and wrote up a small fanfic centered around said Ghostrick using OC, noticing that the mentioned effect of a card was different then how I used it in said fanfic was not a difficult task... especially since I, like, quadruple checked the cards to make sure the effects were accurate for said fanfic (and naturally still got other cards wrong in the duels anyway).
I collected the Ghost Trick cards because I absolutely ADORED the artwork on them (same reason I collected all the Lovecraft monster cards), and it’s upsetting that they’re so bad competitively 😭😭😭.
Yeah I was excited for the solo mode tge deck looks so charming but flip monsters are just bad and the games didn’t feel fun (then again the solo modes tend to give you the worst least synergistic decks that could be considered an archetype deck) Doesn’t help there end board is just utopia future
Huh, interesting List, i wonder what’s the Scariest Zombie Monsters? Also, Yokai Girls, huh? I hope they get something more for them, they seem interesting.
Thank you! I definitely think it's up for debate between the bottom 3 girls. My main reasoning was just that Moonlit Chill's effect was on other monsters or handtraps, so there was generally no reason to play it when other cards at the same value were around. But in a vacuum, Spooky Dogwood has less of a benefit.
Maybe they want to make a warwolf arctype some day.theres already two others and ghosttrick warwolf wouldn't be the first monster who's name is just two different arctypes
Mauler came out in 2022. I'm usually good about mentioning the year a card came out for context, but I forgot to there. Still strange that they'd give it the Plaguespreader relation when there are only still 3 specific Plaguespreader synchros, making me wonder if they're doing more with that concept.
If you like DC comics or have any intent of talking about Lobo the Bounty Hunter in the future, it's fun to know that his co-creator is THE Roger Slifer. The same exact Slifer that we all know the sky dragon.
I learned about that when confirming the Slifer info for this video. Cool stuff! I'll probably bring it up if there's another Slifer or Egyptian God segment in a future video since some of the 4Kids people have some interesting history.
I think zombino and zombina are based on the 2 characters of 5D's. The brother and sister from the spooky mansion, if you look at them, they were ghost but they look very similar as the zombies as well as the mansion.

We got a new Skull Servant/Wight support card recently, Wightlord, a guy who honestly reminds me of Lord Marquaad. He can discard himself and mill cards from your deck equal to the number of Skull Servants in the grave already and can banish himself from the grave to revive any of the Skull Servant family from the grave. His second effect is pretty sweet since it seems like they wanted to rectify the main issue of King that he can only revive himself from battle, not spells or traps, his first effect is 50/50 since you could be sending some graveyard cards to the grave which is good or send something like Monster Reborn or Infinite Impermanence to the grave which is bad.
I noticed it too! I never hear him spoken about much in zombie piles, but I saw him in a few decklists, so I added the "and mauler seems pretty useful" line since I could see him floating in and out of rogue/meta relevance.
Zombie day. Zombie pile is my favorite deck, my pet deck if you will. It's not very great but I like to play it better than my other decks. (Too bad they recently banned Chaos Ruler in OCG, they hit my baby boy hard)
This is one thing that bothers me for a long time Old fusion monsters need specific monsters but they dont look like them and todays fusions look like they would need specific monsters but nope For example cybersaur would be perfect as a 1 dinosaur + 1 machine monster but nope a 2 headed dinodragon and a bombrobot And meteor black comet dragon IS the fusion of red eyes b dragon and meteor dragon but nope one level 7 red eyes and 1 lvl 6 dragon ...like ok i fuse my red eyes black dragon sword and naturia barkion (I know why it is that way and its a bit of an extreme example but still)
We planned it awhile ago, but we never moved forward with it. It's not cancelled or anything, we just got distracted by other topics, so it's coming eventually!
Wait..was the "JM:But hes a zombie. MTTL:A hungry zombie!" dialogue an omage to the DBZA line "Gohan: But Krillin, arn't you a Buddhist? Krillin: A hubgry Buddhist! "? If so..(claps enthusiastically while nodding approvingly)
@@MrTopTenList I did, I was just surprised that people-and you, specifically, were still producing this content. With how much RUclips has changed, it's kind of time capsule, now.
Glad to hear it! We definitely try to keep the vibe of old RUclips where our videos have that classic feel, just with better quality where it counts compared to the old days. More than anything, we like the feeling of "friends talking about what they like."
I never thought to even look it up since I assumed if it was based on another monster, it's be referenced in the name, so good to know! Glad I could learn something. Seems the original effect is pretty lackluster compared to Doomkaiser.
@@MrTopTenList Technically it was referenced in the name in Japanese, since the original was Hellkaiser Dragon. I guess whoever translated the zombie version was unaware they changed the name of the original version so much, or maybe not aware there was an original monster to refer to. It probably should have been called Doom Emperor Dragon in English to match better with its counterpart.
@@DaPopeANata It's even more interesting that he's named after Zane from the GX anime in Japanese since he never used a dragn like this and it doesn't resemble any of his Cyber or Cyberdark monsters. Sounds like good stuff to talk about if I go into Plaguespreader zombie facts in another video!
I would say that Vampire Genesis would be the type of monster Simon Belmont should be fighting. But then I remember Konami are the ones who distribute the Yu-Gi-Oh trading card game worldwide. (Konami also owns the rights to Castlevania as well.)
Mad musket is still used in zombie decks in fact it was in the one I netfecked in master duel it’s resummon with level modulation is actually a very useful alternative to plaguespresdsr zombie and you generally play both (not so much pain painter)
Wasn’t actually aware archfield zombie skull was a thing just added it to the deck sounds useful (though harder to summon since uni zombie is so useful)
I actually run one copy of Genesis in my vampire deck only for nostalgia factor plus the fact my levels tend to be 6 or 5 in hand and 5 or 4 in grave usually so that's nice I guess
I would like to see the Pumpking and Castle in the Sky retained like Pumprincess. It's not good, but it would be very thematic, creating mounting pressure if you can't remove them. I would think King could power up zombies or dark monsters based on the number of counters, and castle could be a field or continuous spell that protects your zombie or dark monsters.
3:26 just because they have Muscles doesn't mean they belong in Jojo's. Especially after the character designs started to become leaner in part 5. If anything, Vampire Lord looks more like a modern Jojo's character. Look up the Next protagonist, Johnny Joestar.
tbf, I don't know which one she was referring to, so I just assumed Genesis. Though, I think she was specifically thinking of Parts 1 thru 3 since it had the whole muscular vampire theme, so I stuck to just showing art of characters from that time when she mentioned JoJos.

Hey I missed u guys! Welcome back!
they made a video two weeks ago
@@thebookbandit5830 Well to me it’s felt like forever.
IIRC Wight is a term used for a type of undead where the person retains their memories/personality from when they were alive unlike zombies who are strictly mindless and either require a controller or just move by instinct to procure food
So it makes sense the SS and family have actual personalities and made a family
Off topic, but did you ever cover rivals in fighting games? There is some overlap with the deuteragonist top 10, but the rival is not necessarily the deuteragonist.
Saturn is a huge proponent for Live Twins
Yes
Three legged zombie… only has two legs.
Yo mama says otherwise.
Good catch! I even showed him going up to over 4000 attack and didn't notice that.
Yeah I was excited for the solo mode tge deck looks so charming but flip monsters are just bad and the games didn’t feel fun (then again the solo modes tend to give you the worst least synergistic decks that could be considered an archetype deck)
Doesn’t help there end board is just utopia future
my brother had a version of the ghosttricks where is was based only on the level 3 and lower types and used gravity bind to stop other decks
Ghost Sistet only gives you LP based on EFFECT Monsters Special Summoned NY your opponent.....I learned thus the hard way.
I like how I read wightbaking as wightbadabing for some reason 😂
Johnny Steps using Musician King makes sense when you realize how little Johnny's strategy does, so neither do his monsters
Spirit barrier works good with the ghost trick deck.
Spirit barrier, zero damage
I’m so unbelievably addicted to spyxfamily lol I’ve got a bunch of signed stuff from the American voice actors
Moon chill looks like it should be an ice barrier card.
Huh, interesting List, i wonder what’s the Scariest Zombie Monsters?
Also, Yokai Girls, huh? I hope they get something more for them, they seem interesting.
I really like your channel and the videos you make with your friends hoping you get 100k soon
Hoping it'll come by next year! No idea with how RUclips is, but we'll keep on pushing forward. Thanks for the support!
I would def argue moonlit chil is better than spooky dogwood. Effect negation is still 1000x better than life gain. Great vid though!
Pumpkins and Pumprincess
Three legged zombie
Zombino and zombina
And Skull servant .
*just….I love them*
Maybe they want to make a warwolf arctype some day.theres already two others and ghosttrick warwolf wouldn't be the first monster who's name is just two different arctypes
I remember Pain Painter, but wtf is Mad Mauler?
Mauler came out in 2022. I'm usually good about mentioning the year a card came out for context, but I forgot to there. Still strange that they'd give it the Plaguespreader relation when there are only still 3 specific Plaguespreader synchros, making me wonder if they're doing more with that concept.
Another great video :) I'm a bit of a vampire and yokai enthusiast
Judgment Meter is Anya in disguise 😅
If you like DC comics or have any intent of talking about Lobo the Bounty Hunter in the future, it's fun to know that his co-creator is THE Roger Slifer. The same exact Slifer that we all know the sky dragon.
I learned about that when confirming the Slifer info for this video. Cool stuff! I'll probably bring it up if there's another Slifer or Egyptian God segment in a future video since some of the 4Kids people have some interesting history.
28:15:so that's why tri-wight is called that
Every time I hear “Ghostrick,” I think, “Ah yes, Ghost Rick. Like Pickle Rick!”
"I got hung, Morty! I'm Ghost Rick!"
I think zombino and zombina are based on the 2 characters of 5D's.
The brother and sister from the spooky mansion, if you look at them, they were ghost but they look very similar as the zombies as well as the mansion.
Top 10 archetypes based on other properties
danger: based on cryptids
entity: based on H.P. Lovecraft creatures
frightfur: based on 5 nights at freddys series
kaiju: based on the godzilla/ ultraman series
masked hero: based on kamen rider series
super quant: based on power rangers/ super sentai series
A-Z machines: based the power ranger zords & megazords
dragonmaid: based on the anime of the same name
Mad MAULER seems to be wearing the masks of sorcerer of the doomed.
I've seen a decent amount of people playing Mad Mauler just recently :o
I noticed it too! I never hear him spoken about much in zombie piles, but I saw him in a few decklists, so I added the "and mauler seems pretty useful" line since I could see him floating in and out of rogue/meta relevance.
I think Wightbaking is cooking brains, not yams.
Zombie day.
Zombie pile is my favorite deck, my pet deck if you will. It's not very great but I like to play it better than my other decks. (Too bad they recently banned Chaos Ruler in OCG, they hit my baby boy hard)
This is one thing that bothers me for a long time
Old fusion monsters need specific monsters but they dont look like them and todays fusions look like they would need specific monsters but nope
For example cybersaur would be perfect as a 1 dinosaur + 1 machine monster but nope a 2 headed dinodragon and a bombrobot
And meteor black comet dragon IS the fusion of red eyes b dragon and meteor dragon but nope one level 7 red eyes and 1 lvl 6 dragon ...like ok i fuse my red eyes black dragon sword and naturia barkion
(I know why it is that way and its a bit of an extreme example but still)
Did you ever do that top 10 chain users
We planned it awhile ago, but we never moved forward with it. It's not cancelled or anything, we just got distracted by other topics, so it's coming eventually!
@@MrTopTenListDid I talk about Andromeda from Saint Seiya?
mentioning spy x family JudgementMeter could pull using Yor as an avatar in the videos
Do we like Skull Servants? There can be only one has him accosted by the Yugioh equivalent to the TSA. They even want to take his dog!
Skull servant did nothing wrong. #WightPower
This video was uploaded three days ago?
Yes, our latest video. Hope you enjoyed it!
Sorry Zombina is cuter than Zombino.
Pumpkin got retrained into Jack o bolin
Thank you for showing me and all my other neighbors in zombie world some love
Thank you for your service, Clown Zombie.
Doomkaiser Dragon is an undead version of a monster. A Gemini named Chthonian Emperor Dragon.
Top 10 weirdest fiends in Yu-Gi-Oh
My headcanon is that Zombino had a crush on Zombina and before he could confess they were killed so now they remain together beyond the grave. 6:36
I would say that Vampire Genesis would be the type of monster
Simon Belmont should be fighting. But then I remember
Konami are the ones who distribute the Yu-Gi-Oh trading
card game worldwide. (Konami also owns the rights to
Castlevania as well.)
What if the 12345 678910 11 12 song from Sesame Street was a pinball game with JM and ATG. the real homies know what I'm talkin' about
EXCELLENT WORK. MR.TOPTENLIST
Mad musket is still used in zombie decks in fact it was in the one I netfecked in master duel it’s resummon with level modulation is actually a very useful alternative to plaguespresdsr zombie and you generally play both (not so much pain painter)
What would judgement Meter think about ash blossoms, alternate artwork.
What?
@@JudgmentMeter the same monster can have more then one card artwork. Like how we have two different colour dark magicians one purple and one red.
@@JudgmentMeter I can just show you on Twitter
Just in time for spooky month
The Ghostrick cards also released in the U.S. around Halloween, so there's that, too.
Yayyyyy. Judgement meter!!!!!
YAY!!
Top 10 moths -
Morph Moth (Mega Man X), Mothra (Godzilla), moth cards (Yu-Gi-Oh), Venomoth (Pokemon), etc.
Should have added something like "When Zombina and Zombino are on the field, they cannot be destroyed by battle" or something.
My favorite scary monster is puppet plant.
Plaguespreader Zombie is the frankenstine version of the zombies, with all the mixed up body parts and electric tube-like thingy on its head.
i love how the skull family took in skull dog marion. i always felt bad for that dog and the impachi.
Hope you're having a good day
I wish the weirdest halloween ever mrtopten
3:26 just because they have Muscles doesn't mean they belong in Jojo's. Especially after the character designs started to become leaner in part 5. If anything, Vampire Lord looks more like a modern Jojo's character. Look up the Next protagonist, Johnny Joestar.
tbf, I don't know which one she was referring to, so I just assumed Genesis. Though, I think she was specifically thinking of Parts 1 thru 3 since it had the whole muscular vampire theme, so I stuck to just showing art of characters from that time when she mentioned JoJos.
Mad mauler is played in a majority of zombie decks my guy
