    Hey mate, bearded dragon owner from Australia here. Just want to give you a few tips... Firstly, get rid of the sand it's not good for them, it can cause gut impaction, it gets dirty really quickly and absorbs moisture like crazy. Astroturf or something similar would be a good substitute but also be aware that where bearded dragons live in the wild isn't just sand, there's also soil, logs, rocks, leaves, twigs and scrub where the eastern & pygmy dragons live. They don't just live in arid sandy wastelands - unless they're the central bearded dragon. My dragon lives in a 2.2 cubic metre outdoor enclosure (7.7 cubic feet or 575 gallon), I bought a large guinea pig hutch and converted it, swapped some wood panels out with fine wire mesh so he gets fresh air and natural light, there's an enclosed shaded area and a small log for him to cool down in, some driftwood from the pet store, a couple of flat rocks to bask on and a shallow water container for him drink out of/soak in (cleaned daily of course) so he automatically thermo-regulates himself and has plenty of room to scoot around, burrow, dig and climb. During the bullshite searing hot summer days he only gets morning sunlight then he's kept in the shade until later in the afternoon after the sun is low enough so he doesn't get cooked, we don't get snow where I am just frost in winter but his enclosure has wheels so I bring him inside during winter nights to keep him warm enough and his substrate is organic basic bark mulch with a little soil mixed in. It doesn't stick to him and he can't ingest it but it's good rougheage for helping him shed his skin. He mostly eats crickets or wood roaches (woodies) every other day the rest of the time he gets a varying mix of carrots, strawberries, blueberries, dandelions, a spinach leaf or 2 sometimes, broccoli, banana occasionally, bok choy, green beans and some hard boiled egg. I add a PINCH of calcium & vitamin powder every other day for good measure. DO NOT FEED MEALWORMS. Also, your tank is faaaar too small even for one dragon, 4ft x 2ft minimum is what you need for 1 dragon. They can co-habitate if they're a breeding pair or possibly if they're kept like that as babies into adulthood, but generally not a good idea keeping them in the one enclosure. You do need to feed yours more and separately to make sure they get an equal feed, they look too skinny here. But you're on the right track and have the right idea just a few changes need to be made.

    *PLEASE REALIZE. MY CARE HAS DRAMATICALLY CHANGED SINCE THIS VIDEO. I HAVE NOTICED THE COMMENTS OF EVERYONE SAYING "NO MEALWORMS NO MEALWORMS!!". I STOPPED FEEDING ALL MEALWORMS AND NOW DO SUPERS. I ONLY USE SAND FOR ADULTS. MY BABIES ARE KEPT ON PAPER TOWERS AND OR REPTI CARPET DEPENDING ON WHAT I HAVE A AVAILABLE. PLEASE CHECK OUT MY NEW CHANNEL AS I HAVE *COUGH *COUGH* ABANDONED THIS ONE FOR SOMETHING MORE ORGANIZED AND NICER. THERE IS A COUPLE OLDER VIDEOS ON THIS CHANNEL WHERE MY CARE ISN'T GREAT. I AM AWARE. PEOPLE COMMENT ABOUT IT, I MIGHT NOT REPLY, BUT I LISTEN. I TAKE CARE VERY SERIOUSLY. THANKS FOR THE CONCERN.

    I am thinking of buying a baby bearded dragon,I have a few questions I
    would love to be answered.
    1. What's the littlest size tank they can live in?
    2. What do I feed them daily?
    3.can I feed them veggies one part of the day and then crickets or that
    food you recommended on your site later that day so I'm feeding them twice?
    4.Do I HAVE to feed them mice?

  • @simtexx4952

    Don't worry about what people are saying... I feed my dragons mealworms.. and they thrive. I also don't feed them greens as they don't really eat that type of food in the wild. You're doing good keep up with what you're doing

    *correction* Only the basting spot surface temperature should be 95-110. If your whole beardie tank is 110F, I wouldn't be surprised if he's a BBQ. Your background temperature of the tank should be around 80F. With Gradient temps. Which means you need a warm side ( your basking light at one end ) and a cool side ( the opposite end of the tank away from the heat of the basking light, usually where I put my UVB bulb )

    Around 3:04, I think that bearded dragon needs to be held more proparaly and you need to develop a better connection. Also to much calcium in the bowl, it's a waste. Bath them in a tub so it's easier for them to get used to it, 1/2 inch to 1 inch or up to the shoulders of water. Just trying to help!

    you can feed with tweezers butt its better to hand feed them so they can gain more trust for you and so that they know that
    your not trying to hurt them your just there to love and protect and feed them because tweezers can be used just not all the time especially if you have a baby bearded dragon

    Beautiful beardies! They look very well taken care of :) You definitely shouldn't house them together though, they can scratch and puncture each other by accident. My friends beardie accidentally scratched out her other ones eye before she knew not to keep them together, and unfortunately he lost his eye to infection:(

  • @freedomof1695

    The problem with meal worms are that your bearded dragon can get too addicted to them and won't eat anything else . That's why I feed my bearded dragon a horned worms and crickets . I also feed him lettuce and other plants . But meal worms are not a problem for all beardies .

    • @g.rodriguez7445
      @g.rodriguez7445 8 лет назад +2

      chop the green up and mix it up. Dragons are smart and can pick out the stuff they like- You have variety in fruit and veggies so don't worry too much. Kale is ok but I would not reccomend it daily- (high oxalates)- mustard greens and Dandilion greens even Collard greens & chard are better alternatives. -- Avoid spinach like the plague, it binds with the calcium and can lead to MBD...

    • @georgebennett5206

    I'm only 13. I feel like I've had plenty of experience with animals, and do plenty mount of research on the species I want before every thinking about purchasing one. I have a lot of pets: reptiles, mammals, fish, you name it! I've never owned a bearded dragon, and it's been a dream for the last 3 years. Yet here's the problem - the live food. I've owned toads, grass lizards, water dragons.. But my mom has always found it a trouble to constantly go with me to the petstore and get live worms/roaches etc. what can I do? Should I wait until I can drive and am able to pay for everything myself? Any suggestions would be great, Thankyou.

    Mealworms are very bad for a bearded dragon!!!!! They don't die immediately and will eat your bearded dragons alive from the inside!!!! A suggestion would be to crush the mealworms heads and leave them for around 5 minutes just incase!!

      @alexiscarlin9690 7 лет назад

      Taegan Linnel this is just a myth. the stomach acids are strong enough to kill living meal worms. I believe it's because they have low nutritional value. crickets, roaches, superworms and silk worms are great to feed to beardies. Horn worms are nice for a treat!

But they didn't tell me the last time it ate they only put a little salad on a plate for it and told me it'll last for a while. It didn't eat yesterday but there was still salad and water offered and misted it. There was only a infrared light and a uvb light and salad and dried fried and veggies so today I'm going to get worms and more and basking light. I offered salad with the dried fruit and veg moist and it seem to me as if it was heating up on the rock but i still haven't seen it eat or drink what should I do ?

    • @g.rodriguez7445
      @g.rodriguez7445 8 лет назад

      Depends on age-- A 40 gallon tank is minimum size for an adult. 10 gallon might be suitable for a very young dragon but should be upgraded with in months. The more space the dragon has, the faster and larger it will grow. Too small a space can lead to a stunted and unhealthy animal.

      Morgann's Vlogs 2-3 times a day. Use crickets, Dubias or super worms. For adults their diet should be 80% salads and 20% protein (roughly) for babies/juveniles it should be flipped around (80% protein 20% salad). Mine currently isn't a full grown adult so I give her crickets in the morning and then crickets and a salad in the evening. Dust their food with calcium 3 times a week and multivitamins once a week.

      MilesIsMy MainMeme NO!! NEVER FEED THEM MEALWORMS. Btw I would recommend feeding them greens such as romaine lettuce and kale carrots cauliflower pumpkin squash tops of celery and spinach are safe veggies, now safe insects and fruits. Strawberry banana blueberry raspberry blackberry and watermelon are safe fruits, crickets Dubai roaches and superworms are safe. Adults need 20-40% of insects so that would be about a couple dozen or more crickets/ Dubai roaches a week and superworms in between, and they need 60% of veggies and fruits. Now babies need 60% insects and20-40% of veggies and fruits, I would recommend getting them baby crickets about three times a week and worms in between. So yes I would recommend feeding them breakfast dinner or just feeding them one else a day and remember to remove and poop dead insects or fruits and veggies after 24 hours.

    I have a question about Beardies, so I recently (3 days ago) bought a Bearded Dragon from Petco, It looks fine, healthy and what not but it seems so terrified of me, is this natural? I've taken him out onto my bed for a little each day so he can get used to life outside his tank because as he grows I'd like to take him out longer and often, he's only a baby now, clearly, I'd say under a month, is it normal for it to be so skittish though?

      @emmadeem1722 8 лет назад

      +Mister Guillotine Yes it is normal for them to be skittish because when they are that young they like to explore... You should let him get to know his surroundings before you take hime out again. Then kinda just ease your way into taking him out. When you get them you not supposed to take them out of their cage for 2-3 days just so they will get used to their surroundings.

      +Shevy Nation I got mine today and he's from petsmart do they abuse them too they said they gave him two crickets today and in my mind I was thinking that's not enough at all he's only a baby he needs more than that but yeah and they said four worms a day is enough and of course I didn't listen to them I've been researching about dragons for two years but any way do they abuse them it seems like it

    Even sand for adults is bad! I could get on their food and make them impacted and mealworms can make them constipated and they are very hard to digest!!

    could I use the same uv light as I use for my ball python

    • @greywolf6592
      @greywolf6592 8 лет назад

      Ball pythons don't need uv lights because they are nocturnal, there any advantages and disadvantages when using uv lights, you can if you want to but it has to be the right one to match the heat lamp (if you have one). I recommend you to watch RSPCA on RUclips and whatch the video that says "how to care for a royal python" make sure you download their care sheet too

    YOU CANT KEEP SAND FOR ANY BEARDED DRAGON!!! EVEN IF ITS AN ADULT . IT CAN RIP THEIR INSIDES AND THERE SKIN. ITS ALSO VERY UNHEALTHY IF THEY SWALLOW IT TOO CAUSE THAT CAN AlSO RIP UP THERE INSIDES

    That tank is way to small let alone for one you should get a 200 or300 gallon for four of them. Mine lives in a 200 gallon

      Sian Baker could have been that your beardies tail didn't shed properly and it was constricting blood flow and was causing her too much pain and stress
