In my next life, I want to come back as a bearded dragon. No taxes. No mortgage. Just sitting in the sun, chillin.
sign me up!
Jschlatt??
@beardyvrits a joke
Maybe not the part where too many people neglect their beardie lol
@@ocdmodernwarfare2049 probably a wild one, but it would be fun to have a human to bond with as a beardie
Great information. Beardies are cool but also remember they live a long time and that means you are responsible for them for a long time. Too many of them are up for adoption everyday.
Very true! well said Rick
you are absolutely right, when you adopt a pet, it becomes a member of your family and you have the duty to give the best possible care forever
The life span is part of the reason I love them
I’m so happy to know I’ll have a long lasting friendship
Up to 15 years, cats can get older.
Now a tortoise,that lives for a long time. :)
Your right I see it all the time and it's sad. Most people are selling or giving away the enclosure and lizard for free. Wish I could save a bunch but like you say it's alot or responsibility
Bearded dragons are definitely one of those animals that I didn’t want in the beginning because everyone had them. And then eventually I got one and I understand why everybody has them. I love that little guy.
I love my guy too!
hahah i was exactly the same
I dont get the “everyone has a beardie” trope when they are still nowhere near as common as cats and dogs. A beardie will always be exotic and cool because its a reptile.
I have a beardie called Arthur. He is so so chill and gives me such amazing relaxed vibes when he snuggles into my neck that i need to be careful i don't fall asleep with him on my chest (i have 3 cats and a dog too) 🦎💚
adorable
Lol not me being the knowledgeable lady at Petsmart who literally writes your RUclips channel name down in their sales sheet 😂😂😂😂😂
I mean I recommend your RUclips channel to all of my customers for reptiles 😅
ohhhh you are too kind!
@@WickensWickedReptiles I literally love your channel. I watch the videos that are relevant to my reptiles which is a red foot tortoise, bearded dragon, Sand dwarf geckos and leopard geckos, but I also love watching the videos of the animals I don’t have that way I can better inform my customers. I really love recommending your channel because you’re dealing with the same environment we are, I’m in Ontario too
Watched all of your videos in preparation for my beardie, and just picked up my red monster today! Thank you!
Had my Beardie 12 years and he’s still going strong. I live where they occur naturally so he lives in his enclosure outside. No heating devices or lights. Gets afternoon Sun. Hibernates all winter so only eats 8 months of the year. Caterpillar or snails as protein (from the garden) and flowers/veggies for plant matter. In summer temp gets to 40c/104F so I put him in a bucket in the shade. In winter the temp gets down to as low as 1c/34F. He stays in his enclosure and sleeps for months. I see temperature ranges recommended for these animals that are not at all what they are exposed to in the wild. BUT I would not recommend my way over what Wicken’s is saying. It’s just interesting.
Can you make a video of the enclosure.. I also live in a desert with a bearded dragon and would appreciate the advice
@@Godistriun3 just has red sand, some climbing logs, a hiding hole to escape the sun if required. Only gets Sun in the very early morning and late afternoon. Water bow for drinking and a food bowl. It’s a reptile enclosure so has plenty of ventilation. On days where the temperature reaches 35*C+ I put the dragon in a ventilated bucket in the house so he doesn’t get too hot.
My beardie, Frankie, is my favorite reptile. I am going to name my reptile education business after her and eventually will use my reptiles in my speech language pathology therapy sessions. That way I can combine my obsession with my passion.
I very much appreciate your videos, thank you!
❤
Beardies are such lovely animals! It's great how they respond and interact with us humans. Before getting a bearded dragon it is important to know, that they do brumate (winter rest) and what you have to do to give them the right condtions for brumation. It is important for their healthiness. First time my beardie brumated, I was so scared - although I knew they would do so. I checked on her every day and night to see, if she was still alive 😅 But it's okay and no big deal once you know, what to do.
I love my beardie sooo much I have someone looking after him for 2 days while I’m away and I carted at leaving him 😂
So I just got a baby bearded dragon. I live in Tennessee it's cold here right now. So when will he brumate? I'm learning as I go
@@michaelraines3465 hi, I don't know at what age they start brumation. I always get grown-up rescued animals. But I always let them decide, when they want to go into brumation. They live free in our room, so I clearly get the signs when they get less active and eat less and lesser. It is important that their intestine are empty when they brumate. If Beardies live in a terrarium, you shorten the illumination time of their UV/lights week by week. There are many websites in the internet to look at the details. I always look at several pages, because some information can differ from website to website. I hope everything was coherent, because english is not my first language 😅 Sending hugs into the US 😊
I've wanted a bearded dragon FOREVER. Yesterday, my friend gave me her rescue. She has two. One is a little on the -do, not touch me side & the one she gave me, which is a three-legged sweet, sweet girl. She is awesome! I'm worried that I'm not going to give her what she needs to thrive but the basics are covered. She's got night and day lamps, her main heat lamp, both stumps she loves to climb and rest on & her cool side with another climb area, plants, food & water. She loves to be held. Learning as I go. & these videos are going to be a big help! ❤ ❤ ty
You shouldn’t use night lights
My hubby has a coworker who took in a beardie, but they didn't really know anything about them. When they took it in, it was in 20/40 gal tank as an adult. We try our best to offer them as much advice & resources (such as videos like this one) for information as possible. Hopefully, in the future their beardie can have a better life and they can learn the proper way to care for him 🧡
A 40 is fine. Lmao
@@tru.5.3except for the fact that its not fine. Its only fine if you are okay with ur beardie only surviving and not actually being happy or thriving.
@@tru.5.3 I have a 50 for mine and he has more than enough room. 120 minimum is ridiculous.
@@thatcrazymick I never said a 50 was to small or anything. But my 100 gallon feel small so 🤷🏼 and there the same price. You’re just crying for no reason.
@@tru.5.3if they already have a 50 gallon or not the space for a 6ft tank it would still be fine
I have always loved your videos and this one is shaping up to be no exception!!!
Love your content Adam!! keep up the good work
This is great timing I've been binging the care guides
My daughter and I have four beardies between us. Two are missing the ends of their tails, a foot and some toes. The other two have varying degrees of MBD. She owns three and I have one. They are all amazing characters! We spoil them rotten after their rough start in life. If you can, adopt a rescue. Our local reptile store got these and we took them in. Just wanted folks to know even if one is missing a foot or is stunted, they still are full of personality.
Thanks for all the info Wicken!
I’m adopting a rescue beardie Thursday & I’m sooo excited!! I’m doing a lot of research on them..thanks for the great videos!
I’m rescuing a tripod and picking him up tomorrow! I’m nervous since he’s my first reptile but I’m so excited!
Thanks so much for this video! I love my bearded Billy so much that I'm constantly paranoid about him not being happy or getting sick! I have lots of confidence with caring for any animal but I'm always keeping an extra close eye on my reptiles
Thanks so much for the information! This will be so helpful to me when I get one!
I'm hopefully adopting a bearded dragon from a breeder soon! I'm so happy about this! Thank you so much for your video! I really appreciate it
Thank you very much. This was very informative. These animals are so cute.
Great video! I found it very informative and educational! Keep up the great work!😊😊👏👏😁😁
wow! wonderful info and explination, im a beginner beardie keeper so ive been reasearching as much as possible to keep my dragon safe :)
The more you talk about bearded dragons the more I want one, I seen one on ig that was a fiery red color, it was stunning. Great vlog today
Thanks, really wanted to know more information about Bearded Dragons and how to take care of one, this video was very informative and I appreciate the content!
I love bearded dragons. They have the cheekiest little faces 🥰 and such sweet personalities. I'm in the process of adopting one and I can't wait to give him all the love, bugs and hugs he deserves ❤
Thank you very informative I definitely took notes doing all my research before getting one 👍🏼
Thank you for the great information and insight into keeping these lovely dragons .😊
Great video! We tried rehabbing a beardie about a month ago. He was 8 years old and was in a 20 gallon tank. He lived off of pellets. Unfortunately he was severely dehydrated and ended up with an impaction and aspirated two days after a small bath. Since then we got another beardie as a surrender and he's thriving! I do encourage people to search for those who want to surrender because they're out there. I had five people willing to just give theirs away because they couldn't handle the responsibilities. My son now wants to make it a job to help rehab beardie and get them to health.
this video has been INCREDBLY helpful! ive been trying to decide weather to get a leopard gecko or a beardie and this video has definitely helped me with that choice :) thank you so much for making these videos you are by FAR my favorite youtuber
I’ve been thinking about getting a beardie and I haven’t owned a reptile before so I’m doing research on it and just trying to find out what I need and what is best but this video has helped thank you!
I’ve recently decided to foster one of these from a rescue near Toronto. So I knew I had to come watch your care videos lol!
Just came across this channel, we were at our local reptile store recently and originally I wasn’t planning on getting a pet but however my heart fell in love with this bearded dragon, I named him Walter and I’ve had him for about a week. He’s a year old and it’s still trial and error but I’m doing as much research as I can because I want to give him the best and I’m so glad I came across your channel!
please do more videos on bearded dragons i really enjoy them and they have good information.
I love em too
Adam!!! The example photo you use for the citrus beardie is from a breeder I work with called "HereBDragons" in the US! They're a fantastic small business and it's so cool to see one of their dragons in your video!
Very helpful you’re one of my favorite reptile RUclipsrs
Your care guides are the best!!!! Keep it up
Glad you like them! Thanks
Oh love your honesty keep up the great work
I appreciate that!
Thank you for this video, I have had my bearded dragon for 3 months, So all info is good.
thank you so much for this information
Just adopted a pair that I am still adjusting to, so thank you for the update!
They shouldn’t be housed together almost all of the time. Especially two males!
im really thinking about getting one so it’s great to have videos of this before committing to an animal. i’ve always had cats, dogs, rabbits, ect. but never a reptile. i’ve been wanting a bearded dragon for years now, they’re just so darn cute!!
It's good to watch You guys is videos. Even when you think you know what all as reminders? As I forget about the water bowl. And I think I tend to overfeel so thanks for all your advice❤
This will be super helpful for when I get my beardie, thank you!
EXCELLENT guide! You da man Adam. Love to Diamond. Great info, no bs, and totally agree they are the best reptile pet if I had to choose just one.
Just got my 1st bearded dragon, love her! ❤️
This was a great video that was very informative but easy for someone new to the bearded dragon world. There are some amazing reptiles out there, but honestly at the end of the day, bearded dragons are my absolute favorite reptile. This was my first reptile and will always have one.
Rescuing a beardie from Craigslist! So excited thanks for the info.
Great video, I have 2 bearded dragons. One red and one normal. I built custom PVC enclosures for them and they are in fact the best pet reptile.
Thank you for this info! Everything I was reading was making me so scared lol first time I’ve felt calm and confident about owing a beardie since we got our boy Jeff a week ago
I might be getting a bearded dragon Friday and I haven’t slept I’ve been watching so many videos and taking lots of notes about them
We have friends who introduced us into reptiles per my daughters love of dinosaurs. They have a bearded dragon and she loved it. She knows to be gentle but really like it didn’t run away he just hung out and was highly food motivated 😂
I appreciate this guide! I’m in the process of adopting one ❤ this was very helpful.
Good luck!!
Thnxxx so much !!!
I have 4 Beardies all in their own 120 gallon enclosures and we love them! 1 Citrus, 1 Normal, 1 HypoWhizlit, and one 50% Red. Definity jumped into it with our first one and learned alot from your different videos and the Facebook groups!
Great info thanks 😊. Subscribed ✌🏼
Awesome, thank you!
I really like the care videos! Keep up the great work! I wish they would get more views for you so we could see more! Anyway have a great day!
Thanks! Will do!
Love your details I want to get a beardie soon..subscribing to you right now
Im a mod in a bearded dragon group. Nice to see decent videos do exist on care overall!
I just got mine a few weeks ago so I'm still learning
I love how easy it is to scoop out with being bioactive. I do not keep water with either of ours.
love your videos
Thanks so much
Great information.
Thanks for watching!
You are absolutely right never neverby from those terrible pet stores ever I did a rescue and that's how I fell in love. With them
I love my Nina, it was a gift for my son but once she got big he was no longer interested in her. But I learn to take care of her and know her habits, she is my favorite pet.
Thanks this helps a lot
Glad it helped
very good love all your videos
thanks!
I’m also from Canada, southern Alberta. I’m interested in getting a beardie once I’m settled down. We had them briefly as kids before my mom rehome them. Looking back our Care was so wrong. I’m glad to learn the updated care for these critters.
for sure!
Yes
eh!
Great info! Lot's of happy dragons.
Thanks for watching!
I have 5 bearded dragons and love each and everyone of their different personalities
My girl"s plant, cool side gets up to 90% humidity on watering days to in the thirties on the hot side, it's been this way since her bioactive was set up. If bugs are left in, just put down food for them. I also agree with no babies on loose substrate. We've been fighting small pets in store for a while, all supply breeders treat then horribly.
You are the best RUclipsr ever wicked wickens reptile have a awesome day have a absolute wonderful day goodjob wicked wickens reptile
You are the best
Thank you for your tips. Finally got my parents ok to get a bearded dragon. Saving up for the enclosure.
Glad I could help!
This has been very helpful to learn for when I get my bearded dragon
Hey Adam, I just wanted to say that today I got my first bearded dragon and I'm so in love
I've even recommended your channel to a few people as well. I got mine from a breeder. Thanks so much for all your help! I truly love your channel! Plus you're hilarious too! Hello diamond from my bearded dragon Opal! Take care!!!!!
enjoy!
Thank you, very informative. We are mostly set up to get a bearded dragon for Christmas. My 10 year old has been wanting one for about a year
glad your humidity recommendation was spot on. a year or two ago, i came across a video (some no name channel) with a dude basically screaming that if the humidity ever got above 35%, they would 100% get a respiratory infection and die. I knew it was BS at the time, but it's always good to have things you know to be accurate, get reaffirmed.
I’m getting my own bearded dragon soon and I know a lot about them bc I take care of my friends a lot but this vid is helping me to thank you 4:03
Love Beardies, have one in my collection and she is awesome. Without a doubt one of the most personable reptiles you can keep
Yes!! I know people say reptiles can’t love/have feeling but my beardie is SO sweet and chill with a big personality. Just an all around neat pet.
Bout to adopt a bearded dragon, this was my first stop! great video!
Thanks for this I just adopted one ❤
I would really love to see an in depth video on morphs and colors.
Thank you
You're welcome! thanks for watching!
I’m about to adopt a small little three year old guy from a friend, he just needs more attention. I cannot wait to take care of him ❤
You helped me so much when setting up for my bearded dragon Charmander. He's citrus blue bar. Greatest scaley boi ever! But he has caused me an issue.... I now want more reptiles lol. We are looking into getting a hognose, a leopard gecko, and my dreams snake a pied ball python.
Diamond's little hands are just the cutest, too
My guy loves silkworms. I hit up a local expo for them, so he only gets them once or twice a month. Another great feeder option.
Few things I'd add:
1. Go with the most recent information. They've been popular for so long that there's A TON of antiquated information out there.
2. If you get a baby, get a roach colony going BEFORE you get the dragon. Babies eat so, so much. They are WILDLY expensive, out of proportion to their initial cost, to feed.
3. Gradients are super easy if you have lots of stuff in there. Plus, it makes the dragon happier. I noticed that when I upgraded my dragon to her new home. Most people's enclosures are the right-size but are too minimalist.
4. These aren't exactly beginner reptiles. They are more along the lines of the beginning of intermediate level reptiles.
5. DON'T FUCKING STRESS OUT. The level of neuroticism in bearded dragon keepers is positively astounding to me. Yes they are not beginner reptiles but they're not fragile animals at all.
They are beginning reptile, not intermediate at all. The rest of your tips is good except that one
My beardie Ziggy is my bff. He literally got me through my divorce, his crazy antics kept me from a deep depression. They are the best pets!❤
Great video! My wife wants one. I was gonna surprise her with 2 but since 2 can't be in the same enclosure I guess it's just 1. Thanks for the info!
I had a beardie that was found to have a sarcoma behind an eye. He died suddenly afterwards. I CRIED my eyes out. I loved that goofy little guy. I will eventually get another one. They are fun!
Great video, Adam! I love all your beardie content, even if it's just Diamond sitting on your shoulder with you talking about a different animal. I'm surprised that you say beardies are your favourite, I really thought leopard geckos were!
My partner really likes adult beardies, and I'm hoping to adopt a rescue someday. There's so many surrendered adults out there! But man, the size of the enclosure is such a huge hurdle at the moment.
Good vid Adam, if we had the room for another suitable vivarium I'd get a Bearded dragon in a heartbeat. Cool reptile. 😎👍
Love this video! 🤩 so many cuties
My mom’s ex had a pet bearded dragon and I absolutely adored it, he was extremely friendly and social. I’ve been wanting my own for years but my mom keeps saying no, but now that I’m a lot older and more responsible she’s considering it.
I love bearded dragons ❤ I have one, and she is very cute and intelligent 😊 this little big personality is so amazing
I'm getting my bearded dragon in July! It's my dream pet and I cannot wait!
this is so great to hear!
I’m finally getting enough money to the point where getting a beardie is now a realistic goal for me. I’ve watched this video so many times to prepare for one
