  • My first experience of claiming on the Dewalt Power Tool Warranty.
    Here I run through my first experience of using the Dewalt Warranty. I had to send back my Dewalt DCM575N 54v Flexvolt Chainsaw due to a faulty chain oiler pump.
    I was not happy with the time that it took to get a replacement chainsaw but to give credit to Dewalt, they recognised the inconvenience caused and sent me a free gift (watch the video to the end to see what they sent me).

    Hi mate always good when one of your video's are uploaded, and what a pain with the saw warranty, premium prices should equate to premium service, but like most it is found to be lacking when you have cause to use it. Thanks for sharing your experience with DeWalt most informative, and look forward to seeing another uploaded soon ,🔨👍

    they should next day you the tool, no questions asked. That said, if it is a mission critical business tool, it may be prudent to always have a backup at the ready.

      Yes, that is my feeling too.
      Yes, I have a lot of duplicate tools that are critical to business, I had a small 18v chainsaw and a Stihl MS170 as back up when this was away, but still a pain !

      I just use Stihl chainsaws now, far more powerful and reliable, but the Dewalt cordless saws are very convenient !

    I have two 4ah de Walt brushless drill/drivers. Both have slightly offset spins, is this normal.

    I bought a Dewalt DCW210 orbital sander that died after using it for a month. Went through a similar story to you. In the end it took them about 3 months for me to received the repaired unit. I didnt get any freebies like you did. I think the problem is that there are too many middle-men. The retailer dealt with the authorised repairer who then would deal with DeWalt. 4 months without a tool is not acceptable. The model you have may become obselete in that timeframe

      I feel for you, at least I got a new saw with a couple of freebies but as you say, a few months to wait on a replacement or repair is not how it should be. I have since got rid of the chainsaw as it ended up doing the exact same thing...............must be a fault with that particular model. Thanks for the comment

    You will find this sort of things are common because of covid. The supply chain is a mess at the moment. 2m is fast try that in other countries and it can take 4-6w just for postage

      Used to have a small MS170 but to be honest, the battery powered one's are so much more convenient, but in saying that, if the 54v gives me any more hassle, I might revert back to Stihl.........will see how it goes !

      @@Bacrenfencing ive got so much battery shit im a bit sick of it really. Constantly running out of power. Batteries are expensive. Doesn't have the same cutting power. Yeah you can press a button and go and good to make the odd cut here and there but if you need to use it all day long then definitely petrol.

      @@JamesMontana James, the 54v Dewalt chainsaw is really powerful and quiet.........just my preference, I hate petrol tools with the mess, fumes and noise levels and hassle starting sometimes. I will stick with it to see how it goes :-)

      @@_HOWTOUK yeah i agree on the fumes side of things but you can get aspen which has alot less. Also the noise doesnt bother me as im always wearing a forestry helmet and ear defenders while using it. I guess both have their strengths and weaknesses.

    Timescale not acceptable even though you got free battery etc. Wouldn’t give me any confidence in the replacement. Change make I think.

      I agree Lesley, to wait 2 months for a replacement was not acceptable. I will run this chainsaw over the coming weeks / months to see if it holds up. My 18v smaller version has held up well, so hopefully this one will too................we'll see ? 👍😃

    For a tool that needs to be examined or repaired there deff. is a waiting period . The pain is when the tool is an every day necessity. Reputable companies do sort it in due course,but unfortunately your time lapse and theirs almost always never match....

      They did not repair this, they sent me a new one which took weeks.........and just as an update, the same thing happened with the new saw. I have since got rid of it and replaced it with a Stihl chainsaw. The Stihl has not missed a beat and is fantastic. Thanks for the comment 👍

    Two months to get a replacement chainsaw under warranty..............but got a free gift from Dewalt........was that acceptable service ?

    Yes id be happy, those batteries and fast chargers are worth a mint, good on dewalt but this whinging pom should change the misleading thumbail

      😂 Cheers Nathan, I like a good whinge. I thought the thumbnail reflected the reaction time from Dewalt, 2 months in my opinion was too long to wait and was a fail on Dewalts part. In the end Dewalt did their best to rectify the situation and I was happy with that, Just to let you know that the chainsaw has failed again since posting this video..............the oiler again.........I have gone back to using my Stihl MS170.
