- The trilogy is complete as Hitman 3 release at the tail-end of one generation - and the start of another. Today we look at the PS5, Xbox Series S and X, the big revelation being the focus on 60 frames per second gameplay all round. Can they all achieve it? And what visual differences are there elsewhere between them, in textures and shadows? Tom and John check out all three.

Bought the digital copy for Series X and having damn near all of the previous Hitman games in one place is great. Absolutely loving the tech behind the PS5 & Series consoles. Great Job Sony & MS.
Hey man. Can you please explain your comments? If you buy H3, do you receive older Hitman games for free? Or if you already have H1 and H2, do they get performance improvement because it will run on H3 engine? I’m just confused why some people are talking about integration with older hitman games. Thx.
@@write2nick you got it right. Your second question is the case. You don't get them free, but they get upgrade inside of hitman 3. If you do not own them, they are $30 each through the game.

These devs do solid work. I really wish I had the time to really get into these games, they seem so fucking cool.
I've spent so many hours in the levels of Hitman 2016 and Hitman 2.
Dude, just get it and play. It's one of the best game series from this generation, and it requires so little of the player. They're so easy to just sit down and fool around with for as long as you want.
Also the way they apply the new features to the previous game too is great. Also they made a commitment that no player who owns H1 or H2 will need to rebuy either to play them in H3.

The Glacier Engine doesn't get enough praise. It handles many NPCs and they seem to have more variety than any other NPC heavy game. It also looks good while doing it.
Only thing that bothers me with this engine is NPC (non-guards) reaction to gunfire. Many just minding their own business while guns are blazing. I love the hitman games though, old and new.
Their NPCs are mostly stationary...Cyberpunk actually has similar NPC density in the parade mission, and they are all stationary as well. The difficulty is having NPCs with daily routines/intelligent AI. Hitman games don't have that.

Impressive for day 1. No need to "wait for a patch" like so many other games. Good job IO!
Waiting for patches is a part of the state of gaming today. It's nice when they get it right the first time though.
I think that’s the best for all platforms. A game that you can actually enjoy without bugs and day 1/30/60/360 patches
Well, I would like them to patch out the awful motion interpolation or whatever the fuck it is that makes the game look so janky when the camera pans
They just need to patch off the Denuvo-like DRM. I have been unable to save 10+ times since the servers have issues.
Yeah but dont forget it is more like map pack So if hitman 2016 was fundation and it was good then 2 and 3 also bcs its more of the same not entire new game from ground up.
The bottleneck for next-gen consoles is..... lavender
I have no idea why it has to drop some frames in that particular place but as they showed there were many places which had more crowded density and bigger landscapes than this and didn't even dropped a single frame ?
@@mrmarty9729 Could be something to do with having to process tens of thousands of flowers?
As they said in the video, it's because of the alpha masks, a lot of objects with transparency is heavy on GPU, there are multiple ways to optimise, but definitly not the easiest. For the crowd It is now simple, as long as there is no collision far from the character (I assume they did that way, just a guess), they can just be animated shaders that is light to process for the game engine. My knowledge is based on 2 years on learning optimisations Unreal Engine 4.

I think the truth is the PS5 is already at its maximum capacity by overcloaking, when the Series X is only at 50/60% of its real capacity for the moment. Its full potential will soon bury the PS5.
The only real truth: this is yet another cross-gen game using mish-mash Frankenstein BC+ settings to execute its Series X and PS5 upgrades, so we're not seeing best case hardware potential from either console yet. Low Shadows = Insane?
I legit don't understand John. He constantly says how stupid console wars are and that fanboys hurt his mental health, and I am incredibly sorry he has to deal with these idiots, yet he brings comments like "good news for Xbox fans" when something rund better on Series X. The better part not meaning that it runs perfectly, but "better than on PS5", as if th3 comparison is more important than the status of the game - stupid comments like these create the console war.
So xboxsx showed that it stronger than ps5, there will be no more "punch above its wheight" for ps5 anymore it seems.
Dude, you're making it sound like this is a massive win for xbox against the ps5....
While I do agree, Series X is stronger then the ps5 in most games (whit the ps5 winning rarely in some games mostly because they are optimised better for ps5, not because of its "superior power" as some might say), it's not really a huge win if you watch the whole video...
While, yes, the Series X plays the game at native 4k, you're forgetting that in Mendoza it drops the fps down to 41 in the most intense situation, showing that it is struggling to keep 60 fps at that resolution.
Ps5 on the other hand, plays the game at native 1800p( for clarity, 4k resolution means 2160p ), and while it is quiet a significantly lower resolution (not for everyone, some people can't really tell the difference in resolutions, especially when the resolution is so high) then the series X, ps5 has no problems in Mendoza, and runs the game at a perfect 60 fps.
My point is, Xbox Series X is giving everything its got to get 60 fps at native 4k and ps5 is clearly not. I mean why else would the Series X get less fps then the ps5 in the same scenario. Ps5 is getting an extra 20 fps average then the series x (as far as we know, could be a little more, but i doubt it since it has a weaker cpu). The ps5 could definitely get the same fps as the series x at a higher resolution, not as high as xbox series x resolution (4k/2160p) but, certainly not as low as 1800p, something in the middle of 1800p and 2160p.
And before you ask "then why did the devs not set a higher resolution for the ps5", most likely because, like I said, it's not as powerful as the series x. What I mean by that is, the series x was likely getting a stable 60 fps like the ps5 is doing right now, but at a higher resolution then the ps5, probably a resolution that was already close to 4k, so the devs decided to just push the series x to 4k native since it already gets 60 fps almost throughout the whole game and the only place it drops fps is in Mendoza. The ps5 on the other hand is not really close to 4k even at that resolution that's between 1800p and 2160p that I've talked about a few minutes ago, and at that hypothetical resolution( 1800p and 2160p, just to clarify 🙂 ) it would already be getting pretty low fps in Mendoza, so they decided to set the resolution at 1800p to get a perfect 60 fps instead. In a few words, Xbox series X= quality over stable performance and Ps5= stable performance over quality
Anyways, please respect my " very short" opinion :)

@@justspaztik But precisely being an intergenerational game it says it's not ok to have last gen games running at 30fps like we're seeing sometimes, or other games being launched these days with no 60fps options like Legion. Any game that only has a 60fps mode and being at a high res and good overall quality on top, moves the needle ever so slightly in the direction of a "30fps are a thing of the past" mindset, which I think they are and should be. Other games will have fewer excuses when a game like this one is up to the task.

This won't last. What we're seeing right now is a bunch of cross gen games which aren't really demanding enough for the new consoles. Once we see developers pushing the envelope visually, the games will be 30fps again. Mark my words. Consoles will never prioritize frame rates. We see this happen on every generation.

Finally a W for us Xbox Series fans here and i can only hope moving forward a lot of 3rd party games will be 4k 60 on Series X.
This should be the norm going forward or something close to this, it is clear that Assassins Creed wasn't going to be the norm, Ubisoft most likely rushed the game to have it out with the PS5 and Series S/X and for the other games alongside Assassins Creed it was most likely the tools not being as mature as the PS5's on Series X. Obviously depends on game engines and how well optimized they are, it's possible some PS5 games still have an advantage but we'll see.
I wouldn't go that far but no reason why they aren't all dynamic 4k 60 going forward. Borderlands 3 was disappointing on Series X where it missed out on the better shadows of the PS5 but that game never made any sense as the PS4 Pro version had higher settings than Xbox one X . They never bothered to patch it properly outside resolution for next gen so it still carried over the crappy settings of Xbox one S for Series X which was just plain laziness. But shut the crap about RDNA 2. The ps5 has most RDNA 2 features except ALLM(which is not even a big deal considering it takes two remote clicks to turn on low latency mode on the TV's that support it) and probably mesh shaders(which we haven't seen make a difference at all). The ps5 does have vrr, and it does have its own API for raytracing, which we have seen works just as good as the XSX.
The reason why the series X is "said" to have full RDNA 2 is because amd collaborated with MS to make the dxr api used in PCs and the xsx/xss which the ps5 doesn't have, but like I said before, it does have its own API and while Sony is quite cloak and dagger about it, it works well and that's all that matters.

The game of life is 60fps
@@titusalabat5173 Game of life is pay to win
I might have missed it, but wasn't the PS5 version stable 60fps?
@@defeqel6537 Mostly. I think the PS5 version does have some dips but they're rare and hardly worth talking about.
Of course, it should also be noted, the PS5 versions also runs the game on lower graphical settings too.
So, like most games, its always a trade-off.
"Mandoozaaa!" that put a smile on my face
Nice to see Series X flexing its muscles! The game looks simply outstanding in Native 4K60 on the tower of power!!
About time,
@Lawrence Newman my comment is of Sarcasm, they still don’t understand that Specs isn’t even half the battle.
Version Ps5 = 1800p 😭
Version XBOX Series X = 4K Native congratulations Xbox Send Kisses 😘
But the SSD??
@@darthtleilaxu4021 how many seconds the Xbox is behind? Can't be serious right? But honestly, let's just wait till mid year
They both sound so sad that the XBOX SERIES X is superior 💚
Bruh it’s only because the ps5 is the ps4 pro version upgrade it’s limited lmao! The series x version is based off the Xbox one x.. Just like how cyberpunk is.. Pipe down.. the ps5 is still the superior console my guy.
Yes it is.. it’s the ps4 pro version upgraded. Just like cyberpunk.
@@kingmilwaukee890 Surely not for all the gen my friend.. Surely not. Now is just the beginning..
@UCpVaoSpBawDNUWphhwJ_4gg it is the pro version this isn’t next Gen and the ps5 don’t upscale from the old systems like the series x does.. wait for actual next Gen games lmaoooo y’all thirsty
