As a 20 year old kid in 1984 I travelled from San Francisco to New York on the dog. Some of the happiest times of my life.

I rode Greyhound for the first time in late February in 2020 (before coronavirus disease was taken seriously).
Riding Greyhound was a fun experience. What helped was me doing research on all the rules beforehand.

This is the Greyhound I fell in love with as a child...than I later got to experience a 14.5 year career with them (13.5 driving, 1 baggage/customer service.)

Greyhound still had MC-9s up until about 2001. The first one has started running in 1979 and the last ones left were built in 1984. The older ones had 43 instead of 47 seats before Teets took over and reduced legrooom starting in 1982. Legroom has finally been increasing since 2009 when Leach became President and started installing more comfortable seats. Greyhound's getting better now, I won't complain.

Gosh, I wish the MC-9 was still Greyhound's workhorse. The ones in this commercial are immaculate!!!!

Such a shame that greyhound isn't greyhound anymore; broken down buses and broken down wheelchair lifts are common thing now. First group has to go and reinstate greyhound bus service here in Canada.

I love those MC-9s. Sadly that was about the last time Greyhound saw reliable service. When I went from St. Louis to Cape, I rode an MC-7 and and MC-9. The reverse gear sitting behind 2nd on the MC-9s and the GM Scenic Cruisers was a challenge. To back up a GM Scenic Cruiser or an MC-7, you had to put the shift lever in 1st, throw a switch which was a "gate" to allow you to go into reverse. It was a weird design. If you didn't lock the gate and once you shifted into 2nd and didn't come off the clutch in time, you would end up jerking the bus and upsetting a bunch of passengers. The MC-10s were the first buses bought with a new safety window mounted half way down just below the top step to make it easier for the driver to see what is on his right side.

I remember 1300 as well as 1301, these were both unique as they were the only ones that were 43-pax. From 1302 to the last
96A3 which I believe was 1372, those were all 47-pax.

Been riding Greyhound for more than 30 years. At first I rode the MC-8 and MC-9 a lot in the 1980s, MC-12s in the 1990s, and 102DL3s in the 2000s. Unfortunately, where I live, I've been having to ride a lot G4500s which break down a lot.

One day in 2003 when I was 16 years old my school had a field trip to Winnipeg because our school theme was on vehicles and we rode the greyhound back which the model of the bus was an mci g4500 and it had a smoother ride and the bus was a lot quieter then the mc9.

Will be a tough day for all drivers and passengers when greyhound no longer operates bus service here in western Canada thanks to First Group a European company bleeding greyhound dry financially; Laidlaw was better and there American; greyhound bus service was way better 10 years ago. Now it's gone to hell in a hand basket; broken down buses and broken down wheelchair lifts are common thing now. I say get rid of First Group a European company and fully reinstate greyhound bus service.

Greyhound had a one off, based off the MC-9, the MC-12. It looked very similar though the front roof cap was narrower and the taillights were similar to the 96A3.
