You should do a video with Toby!! Try to follow him for one day of training ;) dont know if you saw his last video with ROAP but he is a freaking machine!
It's always fun with you, Magnus. I hope I have surprised you in some of these tricky challenges (sometimes even myself). 😀See you next time somewhere at the crag!
I really enjoyed watching this video, you guys are amazing. BUT you did the "egg challenge" wrong because the egg has a way more stronger side and you crushed on the weak side!
Dude, monster arms? he has skinny long arms = bad leverage and he's not used to the exact movement as you can see while he is setting himself up there. No wonder could not bench (I believe) significantly higher than his bodyweight.
@@josefzocek9585 He has long arms but they're fairly muscular, specially his biceps. Makes sense, that's a muscle that develops from climbing. He can't bench because benching targets the chest, shoulders and triceps. Nothing at all to do with biceps.
Monster arms? LOL. LMAO, even. It was 70 kg, and even then, he didn't properly bench 60 kg. The bar has to touch your chest. His arms are small. He's small. He's just stupidly lean.
It's crazy how perfect Adam is for climbing, he's terrible at every exercise that isn't useful to climbing, but makes climbing look like a dream. Actual minmaxing
Its so great that we get to see adam, stefano, will bosi, jakob etc on youtube. I cant think of another sport with such good content made by the athletes.
I love this aspect of the climbing community. I do think there are a few exceptions but they are also not mainstream sports. For example, Mitchell Hooper has some pretty fun stuff (worlds strongest man), Haftor Bjornnson (WSM making a huge comeback after a major pec tear last year), Bob Jones (powerlifter - explicit language but also interesting), and Taylor Atwood (also a powerlifter who is making a bit of a comeback?).
What was so, so wild/cool that can never be appreciated enough about Mangus' early collabs with Juji was seeing a world class athlete doing goofy Internet challenges alongside normal people in a candid video. It's both super entertaining and fascinating. Love the tradition continuing lol.
17:50 has me dying, the banter, the look of shock on Magnus' face, then when Magnus repeats it he sounds so Irish "my grandmudder can do it" just a phenomenal sequence of events 😂
Janja did a video on Natasha Oceane's channel recently, not quite the same but similar energy, very fun to watch as well. She can do a better one-arm pull-up than Adam!
@Voiiid it's a habit from his climbing. When climbing or really doing any gripping with your arms above your head, shaking them out puts some blood back into your extremity making it possible to continue gripping overhead
Didn't think id ever laugh harder at a climbing video in my life than when you both just tried to hold your breath LMAO Adam crimped his nose so hard he got a pump that's true climber mode! it reminded me of making eye contact with your homie in class and both trying to not die of laughter for no reason at all
21:49, dead hang. Adam's expression, Zen and the Art of One Arm Dead Hang. Great video, Magnus and Adam. Good to see you both having so much fun, and giving us so much fun too.
I actually had the same problem with 1 arm pull up as Adam, but after 8 years of climbing I figured out that the movement from straight hand to "where climbers start to feel strong" can be done wrong (I was doing it wrong). If I do it wrong, I am locked in ~150 degrees arm angle unable to move up. But if I do it is correct then I can keep pulling. I took my time just to learn this movement from straight to bent arm (I even stood underneath hangboard tensing and releasing my muscles without actual hanging just to learn the feeling of that movement until I figured out how to do it to have correct feeling when I get into bent arm position). I also did small amount of repetitions of "that part of movement that I used to do wrong". Once my brain figured out that movement and my muscles got used to it a little bit (around 3 weeks) I unlocked full one arm pull up. I am not even sure which part of that movement I did wrong, but I know the feeling of correct vs incorrect movement is different and learnable. At least in my case it was learnable. :)
3:20 The wingspan of that guy is INSANE! To reach an IPF technically correct bench press, his elbows must drop below his shoulders, and then the bar must touch his chest (and I think there is a maximum grip width), so the proper bench form for Adam still requires a huge arch in his back to raise his chest to the bar once his elbows are down.
I absolutely love the energy these two have together, I have a smile on my face the whole time watching this, like I'm hanging out with the boys. So fun
Adam 44,5-45 street shoes, 40 to 41 climbing shoes max for comps and high level, and to 38 in the past : MY FEET HURTS HEARING THAT !! And now I've a good excuse for not doing 9a, I've comfortable climbing shoes, that's why !
As a 71 year old climber who was a 70 year old couch potato and way overweight, I can tell you, yes you can. I could hardly climb the simplest route when I started. Just give it a try, you'll surprise yourself.
Love all your videos Magnus, but it was so nice and wholesome to see you and Adam have that genuine laughter and fun together! First time I have seen that much genuine laughter and joy from you, good to see❤️ You have always a good spirit, but was like you really let your self loose, but have to give Adam credit for that also 😊Keep up the good work, you always have good content Magnus! The walnut thing is weird because these guys have absolute monster hands and had troubles, but my grandpa used to just crack them open casually between his thumb and index finger while watching tv. Kind of have to respect the power you build over the years hauling heavy shit all day.
The fact that Adam can't bench press a ton of weight is so much more inspiring to me than if he could, it makes me feel like I really have a chance. Thanks for the awesome video!!
Adam has that whole other animal that comes out when he's actually under pressure and really climbing. His talent is otherworldly sometimes; seriously. Awesome to watch.
I didn't read any disgust, just good humor and laughter. And to be fair, women (in general) would have an advantage in that type of exercise because they have a lower center of gravity. Dude,,, the fact Magnus says his best bench was “only 103kg”,,,,, haha what! That’s about 230 pounds,,, he weighs like 150/160,,, and never trains bench……. That’s crazy
Holy shit I would not have guessed Ondra benching under 80. It really goes to show how spesialized he is! Like he is often training several times a day, and I absolutely destroy him on that just going to the gym once or twice a week. Of course I am then also stuck at a very impressive v3 level
Straight off the bat, cracking a walnut in your hands is pretty bad ass. I don't care if it is actually easy if you have the technique, it is still cool as heck!
once, while my PE teacher was talking to the class outside, near a walnut treee, some kids were trying to open walnuts and not listening. So the teacher stopped talking, took their walnuts, cracked them in his hands like nothing, and then gave them back to them. I can tell you everyone was listening closely after that

Ondra climbs so much he can’t do any push movements, even when laughing he’s only pulling air in unable to push it out LOL

He's like a real-life alligator - super strong bite (pull), much weaker opening (push)
