      Hello, as long as your water temp is anywhere from 67-77F you would be fine. So generally, Crayfish don't need heater in their tank because they are pretty hardy!

      I feed my Crayfish shrimp pellets! I would recommend Aqueon Shrimp Pellets Sinking food. You can find them at Petsmart or Petco and even on Amazon! Good luck!

    can live fish like platties be a source of calcium?

    • @WaterStTVsubscribe
      @WaterStTVsubscribe  7 месяцев назад

      Fish don't really have much calcium as meal for the crayfish but rather shelled fish or snails. The shells are what provide source of calcium.

      @@WaterStTVsubscribe what do you recommend I feed baby crayfish that's calcium rich? almost 2 weeks old. They're smart enough to get inside the snail shell and eat the snail but not the actual shell

      Glad you asked! I would recommend you put whats commonly called Calcium feeders. They are calcium blocks you put in your fish tank and if your fish or crayfish doesn't eat them they will still slowly melt away and get mixed with the water, eventually providing calcium-rich water condition. Or, you can grind up cuttle bone ( you can buy this from any petco or petsmart) and sprinkle them in your tank and they will also eventually get mixed up with the water and provide good amount of calcium for your crayfish and shrimps! Hope this helped!

    Is there such a thing as too much calcium in the water? if i put snails/cuttlebone...etc all at once

    • @WaterStTVsubscribe
      @WaterStTVsubscribe  6 месяцев назад

      There might be too much calcium but I don’t think they would be fatal to them. But it would be best to check regularly if you are concerned of calcium overdose

    how about using plain ol crushed eggshells for me crayfish?

    • @WaterStTVsubscribe
      @WaterStTVsubscribe  7 месяцев назад +1

      That would work perfectly as long as they consume them! I would also suggest cuttlebone. (The ones the birds eat) You can find them at any Petco or Petsmart!

    • @ScissorsProduction

    I thought shrimps are not suitable as food for crayfish? I read somewhere said it has bacteria that is risky for crayfish. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

      Hiiii, well crayfish eats ANYTHING they can catch and whatever is leftover. I have had no issues with my crayfish feeding anywhere from live guppies, mollies, bottom feeder fish, shrimps, to even snails! BUT your crayfish might not like eating any of that and stick to just pellet foods. So definitely do your research before you feed your crayfish but keep in mind that they are omnivorous and opportunistic animals!
