Fun fact: Actually tried this, mildred dumbass AI died before even getting to half the health of queelag, so i had to fight her with only a reinforced club, probably the most satisfying thing ever in this game
I started another playthrough just to get the reinforced club so I could upgrade it to +5 so when Mildred died, I could gold pine resin and beat her. Almost done with the playthrough, just have the dlc left (And I am cheesing manus too)

I used to think: "damn, he died around 50 times against Manus and still persisted until he killed the fucking thing" A few minutes ago I legitimately beat Manus SL1 with the same strategy. I saw the video title and knew it was just pyromancies. That’s how you did it in the original. 19:10 best shit in the video undoubtedly. Gives me nostalgia and makes me die laughing at the same time. Man, I remember when that was EVERY SINGLE VIDEO ON RUclips EVER WORTH WATCHING.
If only her AI didn't absolutely fuck up. Instead of rolling out of the lava she got stuck in she'll just try to walk out of it and get staggered non-stop until she dies. Also sometimes the RNG Gods forsake you and Queelag will do that semi-rare jump attack where she does huge leap at you and sprays lava at you. I've gotten stuck underneath her abdomen while the lava killed me. It's horrible.
For a soul level 1 (or, really, any build with extremely low health) it's beneficial to retain cursed status. Since it halves your max health and, combined with dusk crown ring, your max hp becomes 143. This is beneficial, because it means you can lower the damage taken from power within to 1 damage per second (1% of 143 is one, rounded down). Coupled with sanctus (you don't need the stats for the healing effect) which heals 2 every 2 seconds, the effects cancel out. This means you can maintain a constant level of health, neither losing or gaining any as the effects cancel out, meaning you can proc red tearstone without dying because of power within, while not healing too much that you eventually lose the effect. You could likely do this with the pyromancer setup you opted for, but you'd be limited to one attunement slot for great combustion (with 50% more combustions due to the dusk crown ring). Mostly though, it favours a melee SL1 and your damage becomes ridiculously strong. If you roll with that into NG+ you can get a second power within, which in turns gives you 3 (2, plus dusk ring 1). This also works for any glass cannon build, which is also good.
Just wanted to say you deserve a lot more subs than you have. Keep it up. I've been playing Dark Souls 1 (even after it pretty much died) ever since it came out and while I haven't needed to use these kind of tutorials myself, you have some of the most straight forward and easiest to follow tutorials on souls games.
Finally finished SL1 today thanks to this guide. It took about 12 hours to complete. I never thought I would be able to do something like this, so thank you so much for making this video. Praise the sun!

There were some kinks and places where I went and done something myself, but for 95% of the time I followed the video and it was an awesome expirience! (except for bed of chaos, it was horrible). I usually play dex=sex fighters and checking some OP pyromancy build was very fun. Completed the SL1 run in about a week after work and had a great time :)

Just realized, I never updated this. I beat this challenge on 9/24/2021. Couldn't one shot manus, he was by far the most challenging for me. I died many times learning what could be blocked and what needed evasion/silver amulet timing.
Finally attempted SL1 after never trying it before and followed this guide to a T. Surprisingly enough, the most troublesome boss was the centipede demon for me. Fantastic guide. Entertaining, educational, and very well thought out. Not only that, was able to complete SL1 run without much hassle thanks to all the easy to follow steps. Thanks a ton; subscribed!
Such a great mix of WildPie, Dunky, and a ton of others I can't name and/or don't even know about... Not even mad cause I can't get enough of all those classic vids.
For those of you looking to do this yourself, I recommend the much more consistent, albeit dangerous method of alternating hits on quelaag between you and mildred. You can do this to abuse her aggro AI so she never actually kills mildred and finish the fight much faster, as mildred's AI can be finnicky, however this does run the risk of getting you killed.
Her AoE kills me in the "safe spot" every time anyway because Mildred insists on luring her right next to me. Guess I'll try your method. Edit: Discovered using the shield against the AoE leaves me with a sliver of health, kindled bonfire for extra healing, it worked out after a few more tries.

A shame in the remaster there is no reason to do this other than to say you did, because they added DS3 matchmaking. So you won't be able invade or summon anyone. :|
alan eklund, sure you can. But you can only connect with players within +/- 4 levels of your highest weapon of shield. So if you run with a +5 GBS Hammer (10) or +5 Ascended Flame (15) you won't find many at low levels.
I am IN LOVE with the sound editing in this video! The fact that almost everything is in time with some part of the music makes me nut. Also, the “bustin’ makes me feel good” part at 22:42 fits so well that I say we change the original song to include it.

Sadly, had to increase some hp and load to 20 to able to take hits with havel's armor. but OMG! The fire spells like flame surge, combustion, and great combustion work! I like this one because there's no crazy frame-perfect glitch or exploits to get infinite items, its just knowing the game inside out to become as OP as possible without technically cheating

I started another playthrough just to get the reinforced club so I could upgrade it to +5 so when Mildred died, I could gold pine resin and beat her. Almost done with the playthrough, just have the dlc left (And I am cheesing manus too)

A few minutes ago I legitimately beat Manus SL1 with the same strategy. For the first time. After probably no less than 40~50 attempts. It was fucked up, Manus on SL1 changes a man. Now I'm not laughing anymore

If only her AI didn't absolutely fuck up. Instead of rolling out of the lava she got stuck in she'll just try to walk out of it and get staggered non-stop until she dies. Also sometimes the RNG Gods forsake you and Queelag will do that semi-rare jump attack where she does huge leap at you and sprays lava at you. I've gotten stuck underneath her abdomen while the lava killed me. It's horrible.

For a soul level 1 (or, really, any build with extremely low health) it's beneficial to retain cursed status. Since it halves your max health and, combined with dusk crown ring, your max hp becomes 143. This is beneficial, because it means you can lower the damage taken from power within to 1 damage per second (1% of 143 is one, rounded down). Coupled with sanctus (you don't need the stats for the healing effect) which heals 2 every 2 seconds, the effects cancel out. This means you can maintain a constant level of health, neither losing or gaining any as the effects cancel out, meaning you can proc red tearstone without dying because of power within, while not healing too much that you eventually lose the effect.
You could likely do this with the pyromancer setup you opted for, but you'd be limited to one attunement slot for great combustion (with 50% more combustions due to the dusk crown ring). Mostly though, it favours a melee SL1 and your damage becomes ridiculously strong. If you roll with that into NG+ you can get a second power within, which in turns gives you 3 (2, plus dusk ring 1). This also works for any glass cannon build, which is also good.

Just wanted to say you deserve a lot more subs than you have. Keep it up. I've been playing Dark Souls 1 (even after it pretty much died) ever since it came out and while I haven't needed to use these kind of tutorials myself, you have some of the most straight forward and easiest to follow tutorials on souls games.
Finally finished SL1 today thanks to this guide. It took about 12 hours to complete. I never thought I would be able to do something like this, so thank you so much for making this video. Praise the sun!

@@ladyfox6705 Hi! After a year I finally found the time to attempt this and you know what? It turned out to be a completly valid guide! There were some kinks and places where I went and done something myself, but for 95% of the time I followed the video and it was an awesome expirience! (except for bed of chaos, it was horrible). I usually play dex=sex fighters and checking some OP pyromancy build was very fun. Completed the SL1 run in about a week after work and had a great time :)
@@ladyfox6705 Although it has to be noted that you need to play the game yourself beforehand. I feel like it is assumed that you are familiar with bosses and places and for a complete novice this guide wouldn't work

Just realized, I never updated this. I beat this challenge on 9/24/2021. Couldn't one shot manus, he was by far the most challenging for me. I died many times learning what could be blocked and what needed evasion/silver amulet timing.
Finally attempted SL1 after never trying it before and followed this guide to a T. Surprisingly enough, the most troublesome boss was the centipede demon for me.
Fantastic guide. Entertaining, educational, and very well thought out. Not only that, was able to complete SL1 run without much hassle thanks to all the easy to follow steps. Thanks a ton; subscribed!

The editing of your videos is fantastic.
For those of you looking to do this yourself, I recommend the much more consistent, albeit dangerous method of alternating hits on quelaag between you and mildred. You can do this to abuse her aggro AI so she never actually kills mildred and finish the fight much faster, as mildred's AI can be finnicky, however this does run the risk of getting you killed.
Her AoE kills me in the "safe spot" every time anyway because Mildred insists on luring her right next to me. Guess I'll try your method.
Edit: Discovered using the shield against the AoE leaves me with a sliver of health, kindled bonfire for extra healing, it worked out after a few more tries.
By Gwyn’s holy sunlight, that snake eater bit with the laughter got me way harder than I expected.

A shame in the remaster there is no reason to do this other than to say you did, because they added DS3 matchmaking. So you won't be able invade or summon anyone. :|
I invaded someone earlier as a lvl one and one shotted him with my giant blacksmith hammer, it's possible to find people, just rare
alan eklund, sure you can. But you can only connect with players within +/- 4 levels of your highest weapon of shield. So if you run with a +5 GBS Hammer (10) or +5 Ascended Flame (15) you won't find many at low levels.
I am IN LOVE with the sound editing in this video! The fact that almost everything is in time with some part of the music makes me nut. Also, the “bustin’ makes me feel good” part at 22:42 fits so well that I say we change the original song to include it.

Sadly, had to increase some hp and load to 20 to able to take hits with havel's armor.
but OMG! The fire spells like flame surge, combustion, and great combustion work!
