Set preferred spu threads to auto, disable thread scheduler, disable spu loop detection

@@KDA21 A "Monumental" SL1 run is basically a SL1 run with extra challenge by banning easier/OP strats. ymfah's run used most of them.

But at the very least they offer different categories based on what you use and don't just ban it outright.
It's probably to make the run a "true" challenge, a test of player's skill, understanding of the game and patience, and not "how can I crank the numbers up high enough to make the game relatively easy even without leveling up my character". It's similar to the reason why there are separate speedrun categories for "glitched" and "glitchless" (though certain speedrun glitches are quite difficult to perform, so it's not a perfect analogy).

@@Clarity_Control To be fair, a lot of YMFAH's runs have segments that aren't fun to play. Challenge runs are ultimately about setting arbitrary restrictions that may not be fun.
Though admittedly, the language used in that ban list was kinda low-key judgey about stuff they considered cheap/overpowered/cheesey. Plus, setting that many fine criteria can kinda feel pedantic; even if it's justified it still looks sort of silly on paper.
At the very least it's definitely a contrast to YMFAH runs which celebrate using whatever means necessary to accomplish an interesting goal.

@@dig8634 I'm not sure exclusivity nonsense has anything to do with it. Series X were just as hard to get back then, and the DeS remake is definitely a next gen game, it makes sense for it to not be on last gen consoles.

A ban list for a SL1 run is kinda dumb. Like you have to do everything you can to cheese enemies otherwise it's gonna be real hard.

@@azdtdevin I don't really know if circle jerk is the way to describe them cause from what I seen it's more of a "hey if you do a full run of a game and follow these rules you get this title in our community". I'm not into the Demon Souls community to know if people use those titles to put others down or stuff like that, but I think that they have that as a community is cool.
Now if they do use titles as a way to put others down then yeah they're a circle jerk but from what I seen from the surface it's just a cool way to recognize someone who did an impressive thing in the game.

I think demon's souls is actually fairly easy to sl1. Even easier if you skip the dagger and go all in on hypermode spells
He made a bunch of guides that aren't too bad to complete yourself and I guess we all just like to watch amazingly edited videos of a guy breaking games in completely insane ways.
I did the "How to break SL1 in DS3" , and it took me less time to kill friede than in my original playtrough

@@SillyLittleDemon They're not for speedrunners, they're optional extra rules for SL1 runs in the DeS community. They're only as arbitrary as literally any other set of rules forbidding community accepted overpowered items and cheesy strategies when doing an "official" challenge run.
2:30 I’m surprised even big souls tubers don’t realize they can utilize demons souls ledge hopping mechanic for that and don’t have to roll off the stairs.
If u don’t know demons souls is the only souls game to have a mechanic where is you walk up to certain ledges you could just climb. It was unique but it was hard to find places that were meant to be clambered. like in this situation where only the ledge right here is climbable and most other ledges that look the same in this level aren’t.

This is raw, unadulterated pain and I love every second of it
What I love about Demon's Souls is that your first playthrough will teach you the true meaning of pain, and after that you instill fear into the game itself. It makes you actually feel like you've gotten GOOD at the game; it's the exact same feeling you get when you perfectly execute a boss in Sekiro.
This was so satisfying, I love your videos so much dude and as soon as Demon Souls arrives you can be damn sure I'mma try that and perish a thousand times. Your videos are just pure happiness to me not even kidding. Love you man.

andy yeah it probably stems from the fact that demons souls which is not only the shortest souls game is also the easiest to do a sl1 run with all this cheese. That and how it’s the oldest souls game has led to its small dedicated community to create better challenges for those who actually want more masochism.
The rules also make sense (although the ones ymfah showed are a little confusing) but since it’s a dedicated challenge run for pure skill it’s only natural they prohibit tactics that ruin boss encounters like sniping the maneaters before even walking thru the fog gate or using hyper mode to kill bosses in a couple hits before they are even a threat.

I love how you treated the ban list. Personally I feel if it's in the game it's free game. For instance people always tell new people in ds1 to not get the Drake sword but that thing falls off pretty fast and ain't worth leveling so they will naturally gravitate to something else. Personally I'm always happy when I see someone swap to the claymore due to it being in the same area (also the roll attack is godly). Never got to play demon souls due to not having a PS3 but the game is so broken from everything I've seen. Hackers getting their armor broke by the scraping spear, backstab chaining, mass item duping, the list goes on. Arguably ds1 has the same backstab chaining and item duping though, it's rare that I do a run anymore without duping a boss soul to save time.

@@Ballchugger well that's more understandable. I enjoy limiting myself in runs. It's why I like SL1 runs because it opens you up to how much you can manipulate the game and how little levels really matter. Just hadn't thought of combining challenge run restrictions with SL1. Guess I got a one track mind, one gimmick per run usually. Right now I'm weeping trying to do a no item run of DS1 where I can't use anything and have to kill stuff with bare fists while naked. Just killing the asylum demon took about 20 minutes, it's such an endurance based run.

Gotta admit, having come back to rewatch this after seeing your luck-based break video, I have to admit Bluepoint made the remake look absolutely stunning. The difference is super striking. I love your videos. It helped me to do my level 1 runs. I did the DS1 level 1 run and Elden Ring level 1 run (Doing it again now). Im doing the DS3 level 1 too, i just reached the Pontiff. And im already planning my Demons level 1 run in my old ps3. Your videos helps a lot, shows how do it a lot of complex bosses and helped me to think about a lot of strategies. DeS is noticeably easier than every other Souls game. Like, I know coming back to it after spending 2000+ hours in souls isn't exactly fair but holy shit there are almost no places where dying is possible if you've ever played any DS game.
Those are also the “sl1 monumental challenge guide” which is an sl1 run with added challenges usually meant for people within the demons souls community who want a more challenging run.

@@whiterunguard1974 those are fast souls, if you try ds1 you'll notice how slow it is in comparison to ds2, bb, sekiro and ds3. Those are waaaay faster than des and ds1.

That list of run restrictions is literally "NO FUN ALLOWED"
Those aren’t the regular sl1 rules btw. those are the monumental challenge run rules which is an sl1 run with an added challenge like “no rolling” for example. It’s mostly meant for people within the demon souls community who want more challenge on an sl1 run without straight up cheeses like hyper mode.
It offers no reward for completion other than a title of “monumental” within the small community. So ymfah is just using it here to flex on everyone lol.
