- I continue to scratch the Caesar III itch with a map from the year 2000 by Gordon Farrell. Short and highly military in focus, this map is a far cry from the usual cities I put together. It can be downloaded here:

Full campaign where each mission has to be not only completed, but turned into an eternal city? 🤔
It is ALWAYS a good time for toga boy!
Looking forward to seeing you try that new map. Challenging makes for interesting content.
This starting position looks so claustrophobic
Hey Jake! Did you know that Workers and Resoruces: Soviet Republic left Early Access (finally)?
Also, sorry for talking about a different game than what you did here. I do really enjoy your Caesar III content.
I've got my hands on it and plan on streaming it soon.
love this game
Love these games
Patrician choice.
Can't believe Jake deleted his forts after the first attack, I was screaming at my computer 'nooooo please keep one at least!'
I thought there was no way we'd have another attack on Sicily.
2:04 wallpaper engine on steam is a very popular way to animate the desktop and I would really love to have an Eternal City looping in the background forever. Sadly there are no Caesar 3 backgrounds at the moment
Caesar 3 is also a game I always get back to when the cravings come. I also played this game when I was young. We always had a generation or two older computers in the family so I am familiar with older games. You are the only RUclipsr I watch for this game and it is the first time i learned from you the concept of having closed off loops for specific districts instead of fully connected city by roads. I personally find the manner how everyone on RUclips plays the game not so good. I understand the need of it in difficult maps but it just doesn't look good and it doesn't give a real city feel. On my style of gameplay I also get luxury palaces but I also get a whole gradient of houses and villas. It just looks a lot more natural. Maybe you can play like this on a campaign. It would look a lot nicer and it would add a bit of challenge. So the rule of fully connected city no detached districts rule.
Funny, I feel the same for Operation Genesis or the first Jurassic World Evolution game, that is full of mods, and I haven't uninstall it yet, maybe I am masochist, waiting for all go out of control, that happen a few times, when my dinosaurs began to die in mass or a sickness began to spread around the park, a massive storm hit my park or I have to use my rangers to reboot the feeders, there even have been a few anomalies, where the dinosaurs behaved beyond their parameters.
Ah, Operation Genesis, what a game.
@@DDRJake what do you think of my suggestion jake?
I like interconnected cities and use them where I can, but patrician goods spilling out to plebs or priority foods ending up in the wrong districts can be a real pain when doing a city build live on stream, especially on these challenging custom maps. It would be simple enough to do for a run of the main campaign though, and I have been looking for a reason to do the military maps in a single go.
@@DDRJake thank you for answering, maybe you can add a couple other limitations like you always do with other games
If you like micromanagement nightmare maybe you should try Work and Resources Soviet Republic, and I trough that the Anno games were complicated.
If Jake played Augustus, I would recommend the Reconquered Campaign by Marek and others

"**EDIT**
After pleading and begging with tears in his eyes from the Imperator, I've relented and made some small changes to decrease difficulty:
- Plazas allowed
- slight decrease in goals
- 12K start
- misc
old save file is still there if youre a real Caesar Meastro up for a real challenge ;]"
I can't back down now, huh.
@@DDRJake btw did you ever do the 5:30h challenge on the military campaign? just rewatched the peaceful one yesterday...
I did not, I would like to try a different run for the military maps though, considering that the citied in the 5h30 run ended up looking very uninspired.
What would happen if:
A - you deleted the bridge with enemy troops on it?
B - you deleted the bridge and just let the enemy chill out in Africa?
A - you cannot delete bridges with troops on it. I believe you can Undo bridges with people on them if you time it right, in which case they will still be able to finish crossing the bridge.
B - Enemies will chill out indefinitely until there is fighting. This sounds good, but enemies on the map block immigration, so city expansion becomes almost impossible.
Normally the mechanic makes sense, but on a map like this it'd actually be kinda interesting if you had Samnites present *on the island* and had to build up your military, then "invade". Then do the same with Africa, and lastly defend for a while.
Unfortunately, "no immigrants" prevents setting up something like that.
