    I can never honestly get enough of this game. I replayed it a lot so far this summer and still love watching you go through it.

    I haven't watched much of ddrjake, the viewer reduction strats are working, but then i saw caesar 3. Some kind of alchemy between this game and Jake's style that makes it irresistable.

    I finished this map twice, starting on the two small islands. Fun times. And I was such a noob, especially at trade; not that it was that important here. But the bigger cities in Pharaoh taught me a sharp lesson about that.

      Lugdunum is such a fun map because the challenges are all logistical.

    Savagely hilarious, Jake, as always.

    Jake, this is an itch that always has to be scratched. I'm interested in seeing your take on some of the other maps you hadn't done this time around. Londinium should be fun.

    For a line of service to get enough labors via a terminal road access of a house, you can change the terminal tile into a 2x2 road loop, and "trap" the labor seeker inside longer, thus gain better labor access.
    And usually it's not a good idea to use one warehouse to get 4 types of goods, even it's a remote one. Since a getting warehouse need at least two free slots to execute getting command, and each getting warehouse will try to keep 4 to 8 carts, and since it only have room for 32, if any slot didn't fill with 4 carts, it will not have enough space to get the 4th type.

    • @DDRJake
      @DDRJake  8 лет назад

      Interesting, I didn't know that about the warehouses.

    • @countingtls
      @countingtls 8 лет назад

      DDRJake If you really want to setup a long term running city, it's not even a good idea to get 3 types. There's a very small chance where 5 or 6 slots get stuck with just 1 cart of goods for a short period of time, thus can not get the 3rd type. Even if just a delay for 2 or 3 months will cause devolution. A centralized distribution is always more stable than distributed warehouses.

    This was incredible to watch.
    Quick question - once the two tents transformed into villas, how did the temple, granary, warehouse, hospital and all the other service buildings have access to labour?

    • @DDRJake
      @DDRJake  6 лет назад

      Patricians may not work, but they do supply labour access to walkers that pass them.

    Can you play a map where you build realistic roads.
    Now you min-max the roads so the walkers are restricted to certain areas.
    But I think it is much more fun if you build every road connected, even to the main road.

    • @DDRJake
      @DDRJake  8 лет назад +1

      Do you know of any existing maps which abide to this style?

    • @midnightfox6378
      @midnightfox6378 8 лет назад +2

      It should be possible to play like that on most maps. Here is a picture when I play Miletus:

      I abhor the 9*9 or 7*7 squares for building blocks, so you won't see me doing that any time soon.

    • @countingtls
      @countingtls 8 лет назад +2

      There are many ways to build a fully connected city, not even need gatehouses. One of the simple kind of this so called open-end or open-loop design is clover-leaves, essentially a loop of a certain length like a leaf, and a branch road in one side to connected to a central distribution center area.
      The trick is always about knowing how to predict walker pattern, and make sure they circle in the right order. You can check whisper777's cities on caesar 3 heaven, he has many this kind of open style cities.

      Tannu Tuva is completely impossible (i give it 99% fail chances, but you shouldnt care) and Albania is, well, a curious idea. How about Portugal, Liberia, Siam or the British Raj, adding to Albania and Tannu Tuva?

    Damn impressions games, now I have an itch, now is it a Caesar or a Zeus Itch, damnit damnit damnit.
    Like Early Bullfrog, Zeus and Caesar and Pharoh games are installed on nearly all systems, at least the aqueducting system isn't as bad as the in 1-2

    I so loathed this level as a kid.... It made me quit the game... I only got back on the horse of Caeser 3 five years ago and even then I only passed this level in the end by making everything a medium insula and then deleting all small tents at the end... :D.. even though that cut out food production but who cares :)

      Jake has said before that he just doesn't like Pharaoh and Zeus as much. The Caesar series has a Roman theme which he likes, but he doesn't much like the Egyptian or Greek themes in Pharaoh or Zeus. He's never tried Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom, if I recall correctly.
      He lives in Sweden currently, working at Paradox.

    How is your game so smooth? On my pc, Caesar 3's sprites have this strange microstutter to them every cca. half second. Also, scrolling around has similar problems. Changing the speed does not help.
