- Hey everyone! Just finished this one a couple days ago. I thought I’d take a short break from doing portraits and do a rose from a photo that I had taken last year. I think it turned out pretty well, and I hope you all like it too.

how do you do to erase the charcoal??
Thanks! I use a kneaded eraser, but it doesn't really take much material off when it comes to charcoal, it mostly just lightens it.
Serious question. After going around the edges of the rose why not just paint it black instead of doing it all with a nice pencil? Looks awesome though!!

I used Wolff's carbon pencils(6b, 4b, B). I have all of my materials used written in the description.

Alysée Sakel I think its a combination. But first and foremost I think the natural talent is what gets you started. Then after that its the learning and time that opens up your ability.
