- Hey everyone! I hope you all liked this one. It is probably one of my favourites right now, I just love the texture of the hands. For anyone wondering, these are not my hands, they are my fathers. This piece took a little over 30hours to complete. Also note to self and anyone else who may not know this, use a soft pencil to do the grid lines. I used a hard B pencil to do it and it left indented lines in the paper, which were a pain to get rid of afterwards. Anyways thank you all for the amazing support!!! I cant believe I'm almost at 9000subs. Thank you all!!

I use to draw mainly faces. Looking at your work is making me want to expand my artistic direction a lot more. Maybe I'll start with flowers or something. Fantastic drawing as always!

will j ...I agree! The detaile of the scales of a reptile would be breaktaking done by this artist. Perhaps a reptile with large overlapping scales such as an eye-lash viper.

Beautiful. Thank you. I know what you mean about hard lead and soft paper surfaces. I completely ruined a piece and had to start over simply by using a 2h to block and it left permanent grooves in the paper, which was Stonehenge Paper. I no longer use Stonehenge because I found its soft surface too difficult to work with. Even a Tombow Mono eraser marked the paper. I now use Arches Hot Press, as I largely draw animals. For portraiture I believe a bristol would be best. If I had blocked that piece in a softer lead I might have been able to save it. Thanks again for the wonderful drawing.

what do you use to get such dark blacks? love this piece
I used wolffs carbon pencils for the dark areas on the hands and Generals charcoal sticks for the background. They are a bit different in shades to one another, so I had to do a gradient transition in certain areas between the two.

Not really no. Ive never taken an art class, or done any studies. Just many, many hours of practice. :)
