I lost my plane (FMS F4U 800MM warbird) because it had no power when the battery went out in mid air. It dove straight to a group of trees and it is impossible to retrieve because of very tall grasses and branches covering the area. I can no longer get my plane back even if i tried. At least you were lucky that it did not crash and you are able to get it back in one piece. I really appreciate the things that you say, "what can we do? these things happen." Sometimes we end up crashing but like you said it's part of flying an aircraft model. I was really disappointed when i lost my plane, and I wanted to quit flying but I realize that it's part of it. This video made me feel better because it reminds me that this things happens. So it is not for nothing that you made the video, you encourage other people like me with bad luck to keep on flying. Thank you.

That Super Tucano is gorgeous. I LOVE watching Blaz with your glow engines at the field. You need to get them out more often Blaz ! I had not flown my 8 foot Telemaster with it's OS-FS 60 open rocker engine since last year. I decided it was time to fly it again. When I went to test the throttle function in my shop, it was locked up from the fuel sitting and GUMMING up the internals of the carb. So I did carb cleaning on it, but had a real hard time getting the carb rotor (cylinder) out of the sleeve. I had it sitting in steaming hot water to soften the dried oil, and carefully removed it to clean it properly. For something so silly, it took me over 2 hours to complete. Then I had bad receiver batteries, and had to deal with that too. Yes, sometimes unexpected surprises pop up when our old planes just sit and are not flown. I plan to run the engine again today, and hope all it ready to go. Take care, and hopefully a better flight next time Blaz.

Exactly this situation happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Although I had the engine running at full throttlwe und pointed the nose upwards and everything seemed to be fine. After take off in about 1.5 meters altitude the engine just stopped! Luckily no obstacle ahead so nothing was damaged. Back in the workshop I put engine and fuel tank out. It appears that there was some dirt in the fuel tank which might have blocked the fuel flow. As long as the plane is still intact, we can learn from this.

I've been flying electric and nitro and petrol balsa since I was a kid, for many in the hobby my age and older who started flying in the 80's it was all we could fly, however at an early age I would collect polystyrene and depron from rubbish skips and old packaging because I was convinced I could shape the foam into aeronautical shapes and replace expensive balsa with foam and it was successful and about 5 years later my hobby supplier started stocking depron sheets and now everyone I know owns a foamie - it's been amazing to see the hobby develop and as a carpenter's son I enjoy hand shaping foam but the rigid feeling and sounds and smell of a balsa airframe covered in tight covering is always going to be the holy grail even though at the end of the day as long as it flies and handles the flight loads it doesn't matter what it is made of, I have even made RC models court of aluminium, plastic and cardboard.

A simple matter for the main needle. Too rich 1st time, too lean 2nd..No problem at all.. Its a good job that shallow screw was discovered. I would check all over the plane for other similar short screws. This beast has taken me back 50 years, I can SMELL it.. Eeeeowww! Unfortunately one can't wear the same trousers the next day without getting into trouble with the family. But this video is of great use, pre flight checks on balsa planes are not a subject everyone knows about. The colour coding of servo wires for detachable flying surfaces is essential. With the 'tilt test' this would have purred like a kitten (the engine MUST idle reliably, with the plane stationary on geass or with small chocks on asphalt) and ROAR like a Japanese tiger at full throttle.. Eeeeowww! I can't WAIT to see this beautiful beast of a plane once structural integrity checks have been done. Big salute as ever from London. 👍👍👍🌟

Just to help everyone tuning an RC engine the nose has to be up when you set the high-speed needle and you just want it to peak and if it's a new engine you want to back it off one or two clicks then let the airplane idle for a while and put the nose down on low throttle and see if it runs too rich if it does lean out the bottom a little that should keep you in the air take care everybody

I grew up and learned to fly on glow powered planes. I quit the hobby for years due to glow. Then tried modern electric and got really hooked again. This brings back bad memories of glow engines quiting right after taking off. You where very lucky you got a good landing and had room. Electric so much more dependable.

The oil is used to draw heat away from the engine not just lubrication really. I hope you change the lines in the fuel tank.?

I'm proud to say I don't have one single foamie in my hanger..every plane is balsa with either a glow or petrol engine.... amongst my collection I still have three new planes that I have built and are ready to fly some as much as 5 years ago that I keep thinking I must fly them this year..😂😂

I'm not saying I saw it before on your channel but when you're setting your high-speed mixture you need the nose of the airplane pointed straight it the Moon and the tail pointed straight at the ground that's how it works long time RC pilot like 60 years
