These are legitimately nice vehicles. The dealer network is a mistake - Hyundai stores are far from a nice place to be. I've had 3 Hyundais and worked with 5 different dealerships over time. Only one of the 5 were hospitable with courteous people and well-maintained property. The others... Yeesh! Most look and feel like a used car store. Genesis needs its own experience, not unlike Lexus, Audi, Acura, Infiniti, etc.

Same. I will never buy another Hyundai/Kia/Genesis product just because of how horrible the dealerships are. Always a bad experience and they always seem to be booked 6 weeks out if you need service. You can't even use the great warranty as they'll refuse to cover things based on not following the maintenance schedule to the T.

And now they’re barely having their own genesis dealers at least in my area, but they should’ve done that from the start. when Lexus first came out, they were not sold at Toyota dealers at all. They had their own separate dealer network from the get go

If you don't need your luxury car to come from Germany, this is a worthy alternative. It's plenty nice enough and drives well enough. Kiyundai has gotten a lot of things right in the last few years.
The 180MPH speedometer is a bit much though. Few people are going to even do 100 in these.

Hyundai is in an odd position. Their cheap cars are straight garbage but the more expensive Hyundai’s and Genesis cars seem to be built pretty well. They seem to have both sides of the spectrum.

Maybe I got lucky but I drove a used Elantra for 8 years. Got it up to 170,000 miles and had zero issues. Just regular maintenance. Got 37mpg on the Highway and was comfortable to drive. Only got rid of it because I needed a bigger car as the family grew.

@@TheJm13post seems like you did get lucky. I know someone with a 2017 Elantra who bought it with 25k on the odometer, did religious maintenance and the rod bearing are giving up at 135k.

Fantastic looking interior. Live the rwd bias. I wish I could trust my local Hyundai Kia dealer to take a test drive in this. But I can't.
*Edit: My uncle has nothing but fair things to say about his local Kia dealership, and i feel guilty to not include the fact they treated a repeat customer fairly, even during tha pandemic, and we are in the same state. But the 3 (other) in-state dealerships I've been in contact with were not so honorable.
Edit 2: for 30k thats 4k *less* (after tax and fee) than i bought my '22 Mazda3 turbo hb with standard heated seats and steering wheel new for. But mine's fwd bias and it shows. I'd have gladly made that trade.

Hey I'm first! Test drove one of these I think it was a 2021. I liked it, but the Hyundai reputation kept me away. Mine was the 3.3 and it was fast.

These cars are used car bargains because they're just not reliable, no matter how hard its owners plead with you that they've never had a problem with theirs. I drove two the last time I was shopping for a car: the first had a malfunctioning speedometer that I later found out was a common problem for that model year and the two after that. The second died at a stop light during the test drive, had to be towed back to the dealership and was later diagnosed with a bad fuel pump. While that is my personal experience, my observations are backed up by Consumer Reports who weigh reliability separately from the buyer's-remorse-driven customer satisfaction surveys. They are nice looking cars and they have performance on par with who they think they're competing with, but if you buy it used, just know you're losing 5 years and 40,000 miles of warranty that you are probably going to wish you still had if the length of your ownership experience lives longer than the warranty and mileage you get these at.
