The fact that 5 and 13 don't output 5 and 13 is infuriating.
11 outputs 11 though.

@@SeriousBusinessman. the unholy trinity
it's based on the release date of each discs
It’s like that because disc 5 was added after disc 13 and the 5 redstone signal was already taken so they just made disc 5 use a new signal to not break any potential existing stuff

Mojang: We've introduced Redstone-Jukesboxesfor you to make playlists and stuff, isn't that neat?
Mr_Korwaldski: They've introduced a hundred-fold leap in computational efficiency!!!!
we're gonna have to watch that again
"Come on, It's not rocket science"
"Come on, It's not musical theory"
"Come on, it's not Minecraft Redstone"
Eventually, once minecraft Redstone starts running full rocketry calculations, minecraft will have become the pinnacle science.
Damn, this is like going from punch cards to floppy disks! It's insane how many uses this could have, like in an updated mc computer. Great video!
More like going from static cathode tube read only ROM to EEPROM(electrically erasable programmable read-only memory). Still game changing! Finally going to be able to create haskall/scheme in redstone
@@zekodun yes, I totally understand those words.

@@fishyninjja9103 it's fine, some people be like this, glad they pointed it out tbh lol
It didn't, the video blows it way out of proportions and you can do this with higher bases too, with an item decoder. It's slightly simpler now.
This is actually already coming in 1.19.4 so even sooner Than I thought. It also seems like i didn't explain the new feature well enough. Jukeboxes can now interact with hoppers and droppers. They always gave a signal strength via comparators. And While playing a music disc, the jukebox will now emit a redstone signal of 15. Until the record stops.
The overall message of this video remains. And I'm very excited for the future :)
B-but
What about the whole "This isn't THAT revolutionary, you could decode items before" thing?
It gives a redstone signal until the disk stops eh... Long duration timers just got WAY smaller.
@@dwalters98 I have a pretty good variable timer from a couple seconds to multiple days using a binary counter, it's only accurate to the second tho.

Finally! Disc-based data storage in Minecraft.
thats a great one
I d-didn't even realize, I'm so ashamed ;(
We're already in the 1970s!1
Minecraft is actually experiencing moores law. What a world we live in
I love how this kinda stuff completely misses me, but it makes the day of someone else
It's the beauty of minecraft, there's so much for everyone in these updates
Niiiceeeeeee!
But it would hard getting lots of pigsteps or othersides or 5's.... not very survival friendly unless only using the 12 C418 discs which can be farmed.
Love the outro!
True For example if you would want to make the colour display in survival then it would be easier if it's just 12 colours
Creepers don't have even a tiny chance of dropping Otherside?
@@nirjhar4803 nope. Otherside, pigstep and disc 5 are all only lootable in chests.
Maybe they could add a mechanic similar to smithing templates but for discs- once you get one disc, you could duplicate it somehow.
It would probably be expensive to keep discs valuable as loot, but it’d definitely make redstone applications a little easier!
Oh, it would also make sharing discs in multiplayer easier- especially the aforementioned rare, less farmable ones.
We can use a certain disc to be the password to a base. Just delay the door and if there is too much signal, it blocks the redstone's path
Can also be used for combination puzzles, using each disk like the cut on a key.
I saw this on the changelog and got exited for the reston potential, love to ser great minds working on it so fast
Can we get a survival series where the whole point is to build a computer so you can finally work in a cubicle?
I do want to point out that this feature is coming in 1.19.4. If you go onto the latest snapshot and don't add the 1.20 experimental features datapack, this will be in the game
1.19.4 is gonna slap...

For the people who REALLY dig into the game, and the people who consume that content, the update is already pretty massive.
Jukebox comparator combo has been working like this for a while now, I use it in 1.18.2.

The day when someone gets Doom to run on a minecraft computer continues to draw closer
I was waiting for someone to make a video on this! First thing I thought when I heard this, I was like computers and going to become soo much more compact!
When illmango released the video on his record sorter, i made a comment about this exact idea. glad to see someone else had the same idea and that its actually useful
Literally compact binary/hex code maker in Minecraft. Definitely going to lead redstone computing revolution in the future of minecraft
I absolutely LOVEEE THESE CHANNELS. Small channels that do redstone = A genius
You absolutely have to name this playlist 'Korwaldski, analysis'
I knew this was going to be a big thing for the redstone community and you are the first one I've seen that will utilize this and even more than I thought. Good on ya.
Very cool! I'm glad I stumbled upon your channel!
Congrats Mr. K! 🥳
I noticed this great feature as well and I started building a programmable music machine, nice vid btw
Nice, I've been away from the redstone scene for a while, I need to learn all the best gate designs again
I just realized, since we have 15 discs now, new discs can't have unique levels of power, which might be the end of new discs unless they decide to have duplicate power levels
would be cool if they added renewable discs with the same power level as pigstep, otherside and 5. that way they could remain rare and people could use this system in survival on a large scale
@@NeighborsNoisyVacuumCleaner this is the way to go
They could bring back the copper goat horn. I thought since they have 15 discs maybe they will be the equivalent
Cool! I'm curious why this hasn't been experimented with on Bedrock, since this tech has been on there for years. Maybe it has been built there, I just haven't seen it. Thanks for the informational video :)
I never thought of the crazy implications of the discs before
Your channel is super under rated
I remember ilmango talking about wanting this years ago
this guys videos are really interesting! cool to see the algorithm pick up this video
I was literally wanting a way to store data like this just like a week ago, i was working on a variable profile passcode, and I wanted a way to quickly and easily transfer the new passcodes between storage and active use. My solution was finicky at best, this is going to work so much better
I more or less stay on the simple side of redstone myself, but it's amazing to see faster redstone computers for me to break become possible! :D
I love how we’ve come full circle and now discs are a great storage item. CDs making their Minecraft debut
I see we have similar ideas, though I know I'm not the first to think of it. Assuming bundles will be able to be filled and emptied automatically, they can use stackable items to store 8 bytes of data each, 216 bytes with 27 of them in a shulker box, 9072 in a barrel with hoppers above and below, and 141kb in a 4x4 space of those. If not though, shulker boxes can get to 20.25 bytes each with stacks of items, 6 bits per stack.
Do we know if there will be an automatable system to interact with bundles?
someone else with the Carina Nebula as their desktop wallpaper! great taste my man
Everyone: Yay! Now I can finally automate my jukebox with redstone!
Mr. Korwaldski: DATA GO BURRR...
The juke box interaction with redstone is one of the coolest recent features!
Speaking as a non-redstoner
Watching this video felt like trying to understand computer engineering
It's sort of what it is about
lol it is computer engineering
@@emeraldbonsai wh a t
Yeah I'm never touching redstone
It basically is. This is far beyond regular redstone and closer to real life computers.
@@thebrandunsafeone7184 Well redstone in basic forms doesn't have to be this complex, in this case he's trying to make a legitimate computer.
no way its the guy from reddit that made the display!! that shit was cool
Wow i totally didn't think of this, but yeah that's huge for redstone computers!
Do you think with this you could make a programmable music player, triggering noteblocks according to the data stored in disc within shulkerbox form?
Like, make a row of noteblocks tuned to every frequency, then use a redcoder to play a specific note depending on which disc is in the jukebox.
Yes thats totally possible. I'm actually working on something like that
Here is a visualizer I made for example. ruclips.net/video/sQVan13ytBo/видео.html
@@MrKorwaldski That's cool! But i was thinking not only to use _one_ row of noteblocks, but also every combination of instruments and notes, allowing for baselines and melodies and instrumental variety.
Because i fondly remember that one time me and my pal made a noteblock loop of jingle bells. Ever since then i wondered if a truly programmable actual jukebox was possible/feasible.
It's not big for Redstone computers at all. Kinda useless for them tbh. Has other uses, the vid does kinda blow it out of proportions tho.
nice pfp
@@MrKorwaldski Hi! I really like your idea of using disks to store bits, but that leaves me with a question: how do you store the value 0?
I have never once needed something like this for anything I've built in minecraft but even I can see how useful that will be to those running redstone computation. I'm actually surprised it took them this long given how the number line up.
Normal people when they see the feature: oh neat I still don’t understand the comparator
Redstone engineers: D A T A S T O R A G E
This is great to know, very useful feature. There's a different way to store more data with items, even though it's practically worthless. Using item counting you can store up to 6 bits per item slot. With shulkers in a double chest, you'd have 8,748 bits.
shit is about to go down in redstone computer science
This finally gives disc farms a use! There was never much use building a disc farm when once you had 1 of each disc it became pretty useless. Although it’s a shame that pigstep, otherside and disc 5 aren’t renewable 😢
I don't play minecraft, but I like watching redstone videos, this seems crazy, can't wait to see people come up with interesting redstone designs
Why doesnt the 5 disc and 13 disc give off those levels of a signal? I mean 11 matches up properly, why not the other two numbered disc
yeah that doesn't make sense. real missed opportunity
- disc 13 was added before there were 13 discs
- disc 5 was added after 14 discs had already been added, the only empty slot was signal level 15
@@apollo4950 Its an update, they could have re-ordered
@@devilsblade2543 reordering could interfere with existing worlds, so better to just make it a new signal
I hope the ability to remove a music disk from a jukebox with redstone will be implemented in Minecraft bedrock some day.
You just popped up in my youtube homepage and I couldn't help but notice the square(?) in the chests and shulker boxes plus the "Toggle Fly Speed OFF" in your actionbar. What were those? Also nice video especially with the displays you made.
This is actually really cool
Taking out power depending on the disc with comparators has been for very long, the new thing is that the block itself also acts as source power (like temporary redstone block)
The new feature is that we can now automatically test discs without player interaction, because jukeboxes now have hopper/dropper support
@@InventorPWB true, thats nice, i was already jukebox fan to take "analog signals"
@@InventorPWB Hadn't this already existed in Bedrock edition? I toyed around with auto-music players in a friend's realm quite some months ago before.
However, I didn't know that discs could be taken out immediately with a hopper minecart though. I thought you had to wait for the entire disc to play, which really put a damper on my motivation to attempt a disc sorter.
@@keylimepie3143 yes, it has been in bedrock for a while now, but it just got implemented to java as well

There are multiple bytes, 8-bit in your case, 32-bit in older OS and CPU, 48 is internet, and 64 is used in modern OS.
Even more compact storage was already possible, unless I am missing something. I built a system using wool and an itemsorter, filling the box takes a while and some space, but greater storage capacity was already a thing since 1.10 or earlier.
This just makes that much easier since you don't need a sorter to read each item.
