Without watching, my guesses, not in any order: - Splendor of Athens - Pursuing Destiny - Athens Warehouse (he called it Challenge of Poseidon) - Gates of Athens (mini game theme) - Exploring the Isle UPD after watching: So I was 3/5, not bad lol, actually had the Architect them on there but removed it lol. Really can't go wrong, the ambient tracks in gow slap, I'm more of a gow2 man, but 1 dominating this list makes perfect sense too. Good sh-t Zesty
The soundtrack from God of War 1 is one of the reasons it's my favorite in the series. The vibe it gives you is something that was mostly lost in the next games.
Amazing video, good to see someone standing out GOW's most overlooked tracks, this series has one of the best soundtrack I have ever heard in any piece of media, in my top 3 alonside the Soulsborne games for sure.
For me I don't know my exact ranking tbh , but I know for sure my two favorites when it comes to calm osts . It's always melody of pandora and splendor of Athens that sh*t slaps me every time
Ambient music from the old games is so underrated, thank you for this video, Zesty. While the new games can compete sometimes in the terms of loud music, ambient background music is nowhere near as good and memorable as in the Greek saga. It's so special, i love it.
It's official THE OLD ZESTY IS BACK BABY 🔥🔥🔥 I'm really happy about you getting back to YT Much love brotha Also I'm shocked you didn't put Pandora's hope theme i forget whatever it name is
Splendor of Athens kicks so much ass! You know, It's not always easy being a GOW fan nowadays, but this little community built around your videos does make me a little more hopeful for the future. Nice video as always, Zesty!
My favorite calm music in general is the part in Ragnarok when you first see the Odin statue at the start of the game after getting the sonic arrows. It feels like Rome or something. But my favorite is also the Valhalla sound when Kratos peers back at his throne at the end.
Man, the Splendor of Athens is definitely my number one, it feels very good, very comforting and calm, while still reminding you, that you're in the Ancient Greece. And by the way, the choir you mentioned, it only kicks in in the in-game version, that's the main (but not the only) difference between it and the OST version. So yeah, in-game SoA my top-tier.
There is an unnamed track that plays in GOW 2 after the “ why do you aid me Gaia” cutscene plays. It doesn’t play in any of the other GOW games and i never see anyone talk about it. It’s a pretty good Calm track. Hope you check it out
A TOP 5 VIDEO FROM ZESTY? AM I DREAMING? LESS GOOO But don't burn out yourself, or else the last thing that happened will happen again Also i wanna say thank you for the NUR+ commentaries. They really helped a lot. I'm at HCB in GoW 3 and just collected heras necklace in GoW 1. All in NUR+
It's wise to focus on one challenge run at a time. Else you run the risk of getting rusty if you happen to get too invested in one (and de-rusting while at the endgame of another is a bad call).
@@MrWrightFine advice, but if I get rusty it should not take to long for me to get into it again. I also balance out my playing between all the GoW games
@@MrWright true. The GoW 3 scorp were really fucking me over and the HCB is also. GoW 1 is not as hard as GoW 3 Scorpussy and HCB (although i expect to struggle a lot on CW)
Great list Zesty, your #4 is my personal #1. That one when you do the "Challenge of Atlas" is good...if i wasn't dying 15-30 times jumping those saw blades like every 20ft and failing miserably 😒😮💨😡🤬
Almost most of songs clam songs are in god of war 1 and that's why in non action period game still make our attention to game and make us interested towards game. Which i miss in other god of war games. And mostly in norse saga then after some greek saga
That is an amazing list! But my personal number 1 is Melody of Pandora from God of War 3. Everytime I replay the Greek games I always just stop when I get to Hades I just sit there for awhile and just listen because it is just so good, it’s also one of my most listened to well working on something.
I recall I vivacious tune either before or after meeting Eos in chains of Olympus. I fondly recall female vocals singing softly and slowly, almost similar to the opening theme of AC Revelations
Here is my top 5 calm gow soundtrack 1: Svartlheim (when exploring, not in combat) 2: holding on (gow Ragnarök) 3: challenge of Poseidon 4: A giants prayer 5: Mimir
I completely agree that GoW1’s ambiences were built different so good I always start hearing them when I am all alone and they are dark gritty bleak and add necessary sense of dread and mystery to the game which makes it’s atmosphere immersion vibe and tone all come up so well together and make it so great the best in the series. 9:07 this one for example is a music for a sad soul going though the toughest journey don’t want don’t deserve it just have to do it I would love to add dark odyssey from GoW2 it gives the game this sense of adventure that I love
Very interesting and based list, mine personally is (worst to best): 1. Pursuing Destiny 2. Challenge of Atlas (calm) 3. Eos, Goddess of Dawn 4. Splendour of Athens 5. Seize Your Fate (yes I count this song calm).
In my honourable mentions would also be the Sewers of Athens, the Temple of the Oracle and Enthroned on Mount Olympus. The first one i think is the most calm version of Kratos' theme that with time turning into something completely unrecognisable and eerie, but in the game itself you probably didn't hear that part, it's short, but in the game it plays even shorter time. The second one is very ominous and mysterious, but at the same time calm and kinda hopeless. The version that plays in the end of the game (Return to Oracle's Temple) is even more hopeless, and it makes perfect sense. Beautiful sound overall. The third one is describing itself when you hear it. It's "your ultimate reward" - the song. Very calming, hopeful, cheering and uplifting, plays in perfect spots as well - getting the Pandora's box, ascending on Olympus. Oh, and these three tracks are also from the first game btw, so there's definitely a theme here, Zesty 😅
My list would be this but instead of pursuing destiny is have exploring ruins as #1 Ik ik, that makes it a full on GoWI playlist, but hey, it's just THAT good🤷🏻
Here is mine: #5 atlas theme (calm) - gow 2 #4 dungeons - gow 2 #3 Eos, goddess of dawn - gow chains of olympus #2 chamber of the flame - gow 3 #1 dark odyssey - gow 2
Sooo good. It originated from GoW2 but was very poorly used in that game (at the very end of the translator fight). In Chains of Olympus tho... they did the track justice.
Bro pls do this for the other games as well. i can't wait for the Pandora's melody like in the underworld. Pls talk about that someday, it's so special for me 😢
@@ExtremeGameplays1 there's track in gow 2 you can find it in the section where you have to rotate platform in order to reach the Cerberus boss fight who's eating Jason. Can you please give me the name of that track it's really great

I miss the mysterious aspect to the music in the new games, i think it amplifies mythology setting, 'cause, you know - mythology is mysterious and magical. Maybe it doesn't fit the tone anymore, but i don't remember any music pieces like the Architect's Mysteries in the Norse saga.

Raeb's lament is more depressing than it is calm.

- Splendor of Athens
- Pursuing Destiny
- Athens Warehouse (he called it Challenge of Poseidon)

- Exploring the Isle

Well, You guessed 2 of them, (splendor and Pursuing)
Exploring the isle and Athens warehouse are both way too good as well
Close, sonny.
Y'can't go wrong with them ambients.
The soundtrack from God of War 1 is one of the reasons it's my favorite in the series.
The vibe it gives you is something that was mostly lost in the next games.
Just like Batman Arkham Asylum and devil may cry 1
But hey at least GoW kept some of it unlike the other two were they lost it completely

1.seize your fate
2.Exploring isle
3.Athens Warehouse
4.Splendor of Athens
5.Pursuing Destiny
God of War 1 and 2 have the best ambient tracks ever. The games wouldn't be the same without them.
