I'm Enjoying Star Wars Battlefront classic collection. I prefer to play it offline with the bots So the multiplayer issues is not really an issue for me.

We're already seeing lesser known studios filling in the vacuum left behind by the classic AAA titans of a decade ago, the next step is the larger companies either going under or taking massive layoffs.

Gotdamnit, why Battlefront just can't catch a break? This is the REAL battlefront and yet they messed up big time with the launch. This game needed way better love, so many grew up with these games, they deserved better!!!! Good grief, what's with companies just don't know how to remaster classic games?
It's more like companies have no idea how game dev works. From what I've read, the studio that was put to work in this remaster had no previous experience with the kind of job they were tasked with.
Aspyr was mainly a port dev team, focusing on bringing games to platforms like iOS and Linux. From what I'm reading they never really tackled making a game from "scratch", and for windows at that, so they probably had to learn how to. And I am pretty sure embracer didn't really give them that much time or funds. I don't think any dev would launch a game with only 3 servers, and of course with major technical issues still there.
Seems like they spent most of the time making the campaign and single player work, and focused in the multiplayer at the tail end of the development cycle, but they just didn't have enough time before launch. If you are a smart company you would delay, but this is embracer we are talking about.

I wanted to buy this game. Something told me to wait. And i'm glad i did. What blows my mind is how they thought it would be a good idea to release the game with 3 servers for a total of like 200 people.
I'm glad i decided to replay the Metro series again instead. Such a great game series.
I bought it on Xbox and while It's not as bad I found on console, I have to agree, I'm going back to Stalker shadow of chernobyl lol

The only reason I waited was because I already have the GOG version of BF2 on my PC, so I wasn't in a rush. I only play offlineand like inverted controls for flying, so most of the issues wouldn't have affected me. Now I'll wait even longer and see how it goes.

@@almightyk11 that’s why it’s baffling though the graphics may have been slightly improved but it’s like the difference between a game coming out in 2005 in 2007 it wasn’t that big of an upgrade so they take games that were like 3 to 5 GB maybe 10 or less combined and turn them into a 60 GB game something had to go really really wrong under the hood. We’re talking about call of duty or battlefield level file size at this point and that game has an ear photo realistic graphics.

I don't know enough about Fromsoft to really have any comment, Capcom's kinda been doing a lot of "doing a bad thing for everything good they make" lately.
IDK if I'd call Aspyr a "big studio" (doesn't defend the state of this game at all). Heck they started off doing only ports of PC games to Mac. I don't think they have ever made an original game, only ports/remasters etc.
@@LloydTheZephyrianCapcom’s main inconsistency is just the RE franchise, but their other titles (Monster Hunter, Megaman, Ghost Trick, and Exoprimal) have all had good releases and reviews. Exoprimal being one of the lowest performing recently but still reviewed favorably.

@@AwakeInTheAM2 I'd say that for Monster Hunter, they really fumbled hard with Sunbreak, as I found the Anomaly stuff to be far too much. There's grinding for the ability to grind out the stuff you grind to grind through RNG augments.
Combine that with the mechanics just getting a little too button-mashy for me, and I just ended up going back to World after Sunbreak nearly killed my love for the series with that atrocious endgame loop.

This is just a another microcosm in the failure that is Embracer group, as things like this happen usually due to a lack of resources (whether its a material thing or a labor thing, with the latter being a result of Embracer continually reducing staff).

What ever happened to the dedicated server system of those days. For example, I remember with battlefield 2, people could run their own dedicated servers and with a simple toggle, allow it to be listed in the main public server list. It also allowed for modded servers, e.g., Battlefield 2 (2005) servers that would allow for 128 players.
Probably security reason? This is the only thing I can thinking.
The original Battlefront 2 was my childhood I absolutely adore this game and I really just gaslit myself into believing that this would be not broken and I’m absolutely crushed how bad it really is

This was quite surprising to see. Me and a few people use to play the original and we had OUR OWN dedicated servers that ran 24/7 for players to be able to play without problems. We didn't have devs interfering telling people "you have to play it our way. not yours's." This is why I hate games as a service. They need to give us back the tools that we should've had to begin with.

What I remember about the rise of "Star wars battlefront classic collection" is... Is how unplayable it was...
I was really excited when I heard these games were getting rereleased, then I saw aspyr was doing it and I knew to wait for reviews and not pre-order it. Glad I trusted my gut. That being said, I do hope they can turn it around eventually because these games are awesome and worth playing when they work correctly.

Oh come on, how do you mess up a launch like this? The game’s are literally 20 years old (I know me too), running on hardware that is easily… EASILY capable of running this stuff either legit or in emulation. How was it THIS HARD to ensure a decent release of this collection?!

On tech side, depend on what driver, softwares, tools or if have the original source to make a port more simple or not. One clasic example for me is the game "Gangster: Organized Crime" a very old game which is very hard to fixed because they used a windows video graphic driver that is unavaliable for every modern computer since windows discontinued. This software was so deep in the code that only open the source files to see if there is possibility to adapt, if this isn't the main core and need to remake the game from zero.
Since is a 20 years old game, there is chances that neither the original creators or the company (if still existed) may have the original source and need to extract the final product and remake from zero using today tools, that why is usally more easy just to create a emulator. Now in this especific case, it's a sign of someone order to rush up the production or have little resource to do a polishiment and clear all the trash excessive files (on the case of 60gb+).
Oh, I didn’t even know that people were upset with it. I just played single player for nostalgia I probably wasn’t going to get into multiplayer lol. That is really shitty though this IS ridiculous for a game that honestly should be well done.
Multiplayer is the greatest reason people get the game. Otherwise they would stick to the original releases for single player.

Since apparently, most people's memory seems to fail at earlier and earlier ages now, it wasn't just EA's "battlefront" 2 that had problems, the first game also had problems in the form of ridiculously low content and blatant rip off perks for the more expensive editions of the game.
There are a lot of RUclips channels who shilled for EA back in the days of their garbage "battleFRAUD" games very quick to point out all the negative aspects of this "collection" and yet, they have somehow (and conveniently) "forgotten" how crap EA's games were back just a few years ago.
I guess not having a paycheck from Aspyr like they did from EA "magically" makes them see all the negative issues with these games but, having gotten paid off by EA back then gave them rose-colored goggles _(looking at you "Star Wars HQ" and "Battlefront Updates")..._
You're aware that Battlefront as a series existed long before EA's version, right? These are two beloved and well regarded games from 20 years ago that have nothing to do with EA or their modern Battlefront games.

This was the first game I requested my refund for from Steam. It's just not good with how it breaks.
Even the nostalgic battlefront loading sound is fucked. That satisfying "do do do do" is the same sound until you actually get into the game instead of starting lower then getting higher. I audibly went "what the fuck?" When I first heard it

Both my sons are running into tons of issues. My oldest is getting massive lag in mult player and just had the game crash and corrupt the game requiring deletion and reinstall. My youngest cannot join any games online.
No offense but with that many problems in your gaming sessions, it's time to let it go and move-on but if you can get a refund go for it.

About the KotORII port for Switch: Aspyr promised that they would release a free DLC that would restore content that was cut from the original version but they never did. It's been nearly two years since. They said it would come a few months after release, then said nothing at all about it for over a year, before quietly announcing it was cancelled.
