It is a very common issue. There was a replacement wire you could buy. But no one seems to sell it anymore. The part number is WE49X32946. I believe it is just a 14ga wire with female spades on both sides.
Your video was perfect step by step instructions. However, I have changed my heating element and all 3 thermostats and still no heat from the dryer. $260 down the drain?? Or is there something else I should be looking at to replace (besides the whole dryer at this point)?
What a shame you have to take the whole control panel off to get at the drum and heating element. You would think there is enough wire there to lift the top of the dryer and flip it up.
There is...Youmdont have to remove the entire control panel and unhook all them wires.. there are other videos of the older guy just pops off the top.. Does NOt even touch the control panel.. pulls out the drum, swaps the element, hooks up the few wires that were removed.. puts drum back in ..top back on..Thus guy did WAY to much unnecessary steps just to swap out the element

@@BANSHEEBOY_1974 My brother, you are the best! Thank you for that video link GE DRYER REPAIR; HOW TO REPLACE HEATING ELEMENT. My model of dryer is many years older, but it came apart in a similar way. Machine is clean and runs like a champ thanks to you and these videos. It feels good to find replacement parts. Almake Appliance Parts in Toronto hooked me up.
This has to be the most ridiculous design ever. They know damn well that a heating element is something that would need to be changed, but they made it really hard to get to?
@repairclinic not really worth it, I bought mine 2 yrs ago and it's been doing the same thing every yr, ge is just crappy. Bought myself a maytag old model and it's awesome used but working even better than the new ge I got.
Thank You for your video. Changes the heating element and dryer of 20 yrs like new!!!!!!

This is a great advertisement for an older dryer. Took me 15 minutes to change out the element on my old dryer. Couldn't give me one of these.
You dont need to Uninstall the control board, you can let it rest off to the side and still take side plates and etc off
why pull the tstats? They don"t seem to affect removing the element.
seriously GE?? Put a Technician in charge of your engineering dept, and it won"t take 3 hrs to change out a heating element or thermal fuse..
Right! 4 front screws, unplug door switch, pull drum out of the front, replace element, then reverse steps.
we can put men on the moon, create super computers, and more....but we cannot make an easy simple to get to heating element...smh😒
Thanks!

While this doesn't look complicated, there are a lot of steps involved for sure. Think I'll just pay someone.
I understand that my guy. Still the dryer was $500 total. I am not going to pay a guy $350 to fix the thing.
@USA2283 this dryers are a piece of crap mine is only 1 yr old and already burned the element along with purple cable
Don forget to remove the legs 😂😂😂 and the electric motor 😂😂😂
At 5:47 what is that purple wire? Mine is burned. It wasn't attached. I need to replace it

I guess I'm throwing mine away. Heater costs 200 plus labour = not worth repairing!
You can save money by repairing it yourself and buying the part on our site: RepairClinic.com
