    This is a very thought out watch. The complication operation is perfect and in a way was due to out of box thinking watch engineering. I can't believe no one before thought of the bezel operation for this complication. It's amazing that Rolex can build serious complication with a simple and in some way minimalistic design. It's a beautiful watch, the classic Rolex design. Amazing review.

    Hi how are you Tim and all, what do you think better to buy, The new Deepsea 126660 D-blue or the Sky-Dweller black dail??
    Please advise

    If my luxury watch budget was $10k higher, this WOULD be my watch. Absolutely stunning. I'd love to see a 36mm version release in the future.

    • @rousseau327
      @rousseau327 5 лет назад +1

      36mm is a big ask for the complexity of this movement (i'm assuming), 40mm or 39mm would be plenty good for a watch like this. 40mm Sky Dweller would have my money before any GMT Master or Daytona

    I prefer the white dial - I saw both at my ad and the white dial looks amazing fresh very legible, elegant and sport at the same - and pro, white goes with everything

    Quick question on the date setting. For this watch, is there a "red zone" (10pm - 2am for example) for NOT touching the date setting? I notice the date can be set freely forward and backward. Does it mean setting the date is safe for any current time?

    • @williamumbach592
      @williamumbach592 5 лет назад +1

      killazx9. No “Red Zone” for setting it. So yes, safe to set date for any current time. I use the bezel and set in order 1-3-2 then 0 or full clockwise when done.
      bezel position 1: Go forward or backward (up to six months) in the shortest direction to yesterday’s date. ( if today is July 6, I roll the date until the red box is outside the 7 o’clock position (July) and the date Cyclopes says 5)
      Bezel position 3: When the second hand is at 12 on the watch, I pull the Crowne out with the bezel in the 3rd (full counterclockwise) position. This is the Hacking position that stops the entire watch. Here I rotate the 24 hr ring to my local hour and the minute hand to the next upcoming minute. (I use my iPad or iPhone for the correct time You could also use your GPS time in say an automobile ). When my iPad then says exactly the next minute, I rotate the bezel one clockwise. This starts the watch ticking or hacks it exactly to the second with apple time. (Example: my iPad says it’s 3:14pm, I set my watch ring to 15 and the minute hand to 15. Then as the exact time the iPad changes to 3:15 - I turn the bezel one click clockwise.
      Bezel position 2: Now I rotate the hour hand only, forward enough that it clicks over to the next date (remember in step one I set the date to YESTERDAYS date) and maybe another 12+ hours if it’s in the pm. (Example, it’s July 6th 3:17pm, but my watch displays July 5th. I rotate the hour hand only forward til it clicks over to display the 6th, and then continue past 12 again to 3 for pm). Watch is now set exactly with both time zones displaying your local or “home” time. This whole process will take less than 3min. Once you’re good at it, very intuitive and take 1min or less.
      Now you travel to another time zone: Very simple, intuitive and fast. Bezel position 2: rotate the hour hand forward or backward to your next time zone. (Example your home time is CHICAGO and you’re flying to London. Rotate the hour hand forward 6 hrs. Done.) Your date window will follow your hour hand. So say you take off at 9pm from Chicago, when you move the hour hand forward 6hrs, it’ll display 3 (am) on the 7th of July.

    I just bought this watch two weeks ago from my AD who used to be the watchmaker at my grandfathers store before opening his own. Feels good to have the first Rolex I bought go up 10k in value right away! Only waited two months on the waiting list also!

    Sadly that they did not make it day date instead of month date ... it’s not like I don’t know which month it is .

    Love this watch and two different ADs say I should have one within the year :) Do you think this will become a collectors item due to its complexity or ?

    • @andyreiter6253
      @andyreiter6253 6 лет назад

      no .. it won't be like the croon pertpertual from pateks or Daytona from Rolex .. but it won't lose much as lets say an omega watch

      MaidenJoel yea a few AD’s. Maybe this year I’ll get it.. if not I’ll buy the datejust 41 blue dial fluted bezzle which looks similar in style and is also an awesome watch.

    • @MaidenJoel
      @MaidenJoel 6 лет назад

      Niceeee! Do you plan on buying all that are offered to you, keeping one and selling the rest? And yes that's a lovely watch, tried a mint one on once but was young and skint at the time

    • @ripperx444
      @ripperx444 6 лет назад

      MaidenJoel nope this is just for me to keep. I have a datejust II blue dial now but doesn’t have the fluted bezzle.. so going to the 41 i would get the nicer movment and bezzle if i went that route.

    • @MaidenJoel
      @MaidenJoel 6 лет назад

      Fair enough, I can't resist keeping one for myself and flipping others I'm offered, maybe I'm greedy haha! Yeah for sure, I'm a sucker for a fluted bezel, so so classy yet somehow casual and almost sporty

    Generally I find the Sky Dweller to be an ugly watch. But the blue steel looks great. I can see why it's so hot, it's the only one worth buying.

      Andrew Brown
      I have a couple of Rolex watches, recently I acquired a JLC reverso duo tribute moon for a simpler price to the sky dweller
      It's a much better watch in my opinion.
