It is NOT complex . It has date ,month and 24 hr dial . PFFT.Clearly anyone who thinks this is complicated ,has no clue about watches and complications.
The easter egg in this watch is that although it's a dual time zone watch, because the 24 hour numbers move and the gmt point is fixed, the time for other cities will always be at the same point in the circle, so you can use it as a worldtimer watch if you memorize the fixed circle point of the 4-6 cities that you care about in a way that you can't for most gmt watches without the clutter and dst issues of traditional worldtimer watches and it's a rolex.
@@cjb5499basically the GMt time is always at 12 o'clock. So if I want to know the time im England for example, i can check where that is now, (say at 3 o'clock fot example) and england time will always be in the same spot
I saw this exact white model at the airport worn by a Qatary gent. Its a beautiful watch, very iconic and the bezel highlights the piece. Its blingy without being pretentious.
Totally agree on the dial. My wallet doesn’t agree on the price. I will say though, they sky-dweller is now on my shorter list. If they released one in 40 mm I would consider down the road
I worked on a couple of these and under the dial it’s one of the most complicated things I’ve worked on and I’ve worked on minute repeaters, patek, ap, vintage Rolex annual calendars
Man, Rolex just offered me one and she came home on Friday. In fact, it’s almost this exact one, except Jubilee band which I prefer. Ordered a Rubber B today to help dress it down, and will be my daily of 2023. Happy New Year new sub! Nice content you’re very natural on camera.
Thought about buying this watch.. after much contemplation, ive come to the conclusion that after selling my house and living in ny car, I'll now be selling my car and living in my watch. Thank you for your time.
Great video Teddy.... I've been a fan of the Sky Dweller since it was first launched. Unfortunately, the solid gold price put it out of my price range. Fast forward to Jan 2020, I was walking the other day and while passing by a Rolex Dealer, low and behold there is Two-Tone Champagne face one sitting in the window. Someone put themselves in for it and apparently lost interest in the year it took for the store to acquire it. While, not a fan of the Two Tone/nor the Champagne face, I put it on and viola.... This is one beautiful timepiece. Since then, I have fallen in love with it. If you can find one new and afford it, I would say scoop it up, you won't regret it and I personally think the two-tone is really the only "untouched" market in the skyrocketing values that have encompassed the Rolex catalogue. Teddy, I'd be really interested in your thoughts on the two-tone marketplace and where you think it may or may not be heading in the near future.... Thanks!
That’s actually a very fair question. Very similar to their sports bezels this one is sealed off. It be fun to open one of these up as an experiment though haha.
I have the two-tone version with a white dial. I consider it to be my Rolex dress-watch and a great alternative to date-just or even the day-date. I thought it was too big at first, but it has certainly "grown on me".
Hello from SF. Collecting 25 years. In a previous life I worked for a digital ad network. Watch (no pun intended) as many channels as I can. All the usual suspects. You have progressed the most. Excellent Midwest style, sincerity and charm. Like Jimmy Stewart. I love Jimmy Stewart. Advertisers loved James Stewart. Keep it up. Excellent work! Let's see if you and your staff read these comments. What is the best and least expensive Seiko automatic dress watch WITH a screw down crown? Sieko SARB GS etc ...
I do think this is a great watch. I was visiting a well known online retailer based in Florida the other day and got to check this exact reference out. In real life I'd argue it is not a pure white face, but actually has a dash of silver to it. It is not, for example, the same white you get on an Explorer II, and you can see even in this video the contrast between the face and the inner ring which is pure white. In any case it looks amazing. If you travel a lot this would be a sweet watch to own, but it is fairly bulky compared to a GMT, and unlike a GMT there is no bezel to calculate a third time zone or use as a rudimentary timer. Truth be told, most travellers would probably be better off with a GMT. But if you want something a bit more dressy and a bit less subtle, then here you go.
Planning to purchase one, but they only offer the oysterflex with the solid gold options, which are out of budget. The two-tone is growing on me though
gripes: case size, fluted bezel, cyclops. i absolutely love the dial of this specific reference. the cyclops kills all rolex watches with a date complication for me. same with daydate. fluted bezel is too flashy for me, but i could overlook it without the cyclops.
I plan on buying my first Rolex in 5 years, and I'm torn between the Milgauss (because it's just so quirky!), and the Sky Dweller. Great review! Keep up the good work!
Unfortunately, life has made a few decisions for me, and my 5 year plan went out the window. For now, the crown will have to remain on the wishlist for some time in the future.
Thanks for the explanation on how the watch actually works. I've been a bit mystified and now it all makes sense. The bad news is that now I want this watch more than ever. :)
Just bought the blue version, and from an AD of all things. Got super lucky. And I also have a smaller wrist, but it wears just fine (although a bit heavy compared to my two-tone submariner).
This video plus the fact the GOAT Michael Jordan has this in his collection made me buy my own Sky dweller. Thank you for helping me decide getting this over a ceramic Daytona
Sky Dweller is the only Rolex I want. It's one of the most unpopular Rolex watches, because I hardly ever hear anyone talking about it. It has absolute zero homages and straight forward fake copies have most functions disabled due to complexity. And where that price comes from? from what I see the basic price for SkyDweller no matter if it's used or unworn starts at 16K and escalates quickly.
Nice demonstration by Rolex of some complex complications, but a bit too large. I need a complication for the date; however, I really do know what month it is without a wrist check. I'll stick with my Tudor GMT for multiple time zone tracking and value. Good video & thanks.
Got this in black dial. Love it. Gets a lot of wrist time over Daytona & presidential. Probably because it’s steel. Only one problem I have with it is when crown is in the lock position the bezel still moves into its 3 settings.
My bezel also rotates while the crown is locked. I thought this could be a issue so I took the watch to the rolex service center, they inspected watch and said the bezel always being free to rotate is normal and operating as designed.
I love the white dial stainless steel version sky dweller is it absolutely stunning piece and also it look like almost the same as the white gold sky dweller version 326939🤩
I am not a Rolex guy by any means. But the Sky-Dweller does it for me! It's a shame they're so huge...wonder if they'd ever make a reduced version of some sort.
They aren’t huge at all … it’s quite wearable . It’s the best Rolex ever produced .. the movement is crazy accurate , the dial and complications are stunning . The white/Silver dial is breathtaking
Excellent review, Teddy. I am not a big fan of Rolex because, in general, I find them rather boring. I can’t say that this watch lights my fire, but at least it’s interesting and looks like it would be fun to own.
i like this watch a lot. I love GMT watches and this is an awesome alternative to a typical GMT watch. I hope they release a full stainless steel version. I really do hate the bubble date. throws off the symmetry of the dial.
I like the Sky Dweller. I like the design cues of it. I'm not much into other Rolex offerings so it's a nice and beautiful watch to look at and hopefully one day own
Great watch. I wish they were more available at retail but they aren't. I think the steel skydweller with WHITE dial will be discontinued so hold on to it. I love the black dial because I'm not a fan of the blue dial even though its the ONE that everybody wants. Great review 👏
as Laurens said, using this bezel action happens only once a year if it stays wound. In addition, it probably is the easiest watch to set of any annual or perpetual calendar that I have come across.
Just got home with mine ,ill be honest i bought it just for the looks and knew nothing about the movement, makes the other models seen basic .. Very clever watch

People need to see this vid to understand how complex the sky dweller really is
Flippin Zippo Agree. I bet 99% of people are ignorant to the bezel’s function; I was.
I had no idea prior to this and thought it was just a different GMT watch.
I didn’t fully appreciate it as well before making this video. Totally underestimated it and now it has much more of my respect!
This video as well as Watchfinder's video. Really appreciate Teddy for giving the Sky-Dweller the attention it deserves

The white dial Sky-Dweller is my favorite of the line. You need one, Teddy! 😊

While everyone else's future grail might be a Datejust, Sub or a GMT. Mine is this one.
50 mm lug to lug. are u crazy
This is a gmt actually.
Mohammad Shoaib Not everyone has modern female sized wrists, it’s great for a medium man sized 7inch wrist or larger.
I agree, it's one of the few Rolex watches that does something slightly interesting, in my opinion
It’s underrated people don’t understand the craftsmanship and the functionality of this watch
Didn’t care for the Sky Dweller prior to watching this video. Can better appreciate it after viewing this.
Just had a funny thought but why is it the Aqua Terra compared to the Datejust but the Aqua Terra Annual Calendar not compared to the Skydweller?
Does the Sky Dweller have the laser etched crown on the crystal?

The month indicators look mis-aligned with the hour markers and it really bothers me.

Is $20000 canadian a good deal for this watch slightly used?
How does the bezel movement work yet still keep its 100m water resistance?

I don’t know if you have, but can you make a video of watches to start with if you’re getting into watch collecting ?
That’s a cool idea!
gotta start getting manicures with all of those closeups man haha
I love the Skydweller. Would love to see the Command Bezel move to future Day-Date and the Datejust.
I honestly think the watch looks just fine on your wrist man
Don’t encourage me man 😂 the last thing I need is considering another watch haha
Great review. What are your thoughts on the white gold skydweller (black face) on a black leather strap?
Beautiful as well. I prefer the steel though with the standard hour markings with lume. A bit more sporty looking and of cross more affordable
You’ve been killing it with the videos Teddy. Keep it up my man
Thank you Alan!

How would the command bezel withstand the wear?
That's my main concern, else, love the simple look of the sky dweller.
can the date stop at 30 in june?
The movement is jumpy.. is it real?

Certainly up there as well. Could have been cool to do both.
skydweller and daytona are my favorites. But I wouldn't say no to a yacht master.👍
If the Sky-Dweller proves something is that Rolex should comeback to create grand complications...maybe using the Cellini line

On my admittedly short list of Rolex watches I would consider buying. Not normally a fan of their aesthetic but this one scratches the right itch.
Best looking - functional, legible, modern, sporty, elegant Rolex model ...
I like the watch except for the grooves on the bezel.
Love this piece. Great video.
I would normally complain about a smaller case size option, but I'm not so sure this watch can be made smaller.
Big problem with the skydweller, doesn't fit well on wristlets like me :( 39mm version please.
Agreed on the size. Even a 40-41 would be interesting.
