The funny thing is, when you watch them, you know what's going to come next. So, there's no surprises, and that's why I enjoy it so much besides of their contagious satirical humor.
Curly Howard was quite hilarious and popular, but Shemp Howard was also very funny and I think it's unfair to keep comparing Shemp to Curly, as Shemp was an original stooge who had his unique and excellent way, but he's very underrated.
Agreed. Curly Howard is arguably the greatest natural comedian of all time but when it comes to the history of the stooges, Shemp is the glue that made it work. When he returned to the act in 1947 after his solo career, he saved the stooges. Joe Besser and Joe DeRita were weak replacements and accented the strength of Curly and Shemp.
@@abrahamlincolnjones2922 Curly would have lasted a lot longer than he did had he not drank himself into oblivion the way his boss, Ted Healy, did, and would never have had the strokes he did had he stayed away from the booze. BTW, Curly did not die of a heart attack the way Shemp did; the narrator needs to get his facts straight.
My favs are Shemp and Joe Besser, who had major successes beyond the Stooges. Larry was super too. Loved a scene when faux dentist Shemp was pulling a tooth and the patient was yelling and twisting his legs about. Larry couldn't conceal his smile. Larry had the best pained look, esp when Moe filed his head or yanked-out his hair, And Besser was so funny, with his "oh you're m-e-a-n" and other catch-phases. Moe said that when Curley went-up on his lines he'd drop to the floor and, "spin like a top". Never thought that was funny. Moe was the glue, kindly in life, a meany on film.
i love the stoodges.i grew up watching them along with my other favorites abbott and costello.it's such a shame that both curly and lou costello died so young.
Curly, Larry, Moe, and Shemp were great. Joe Was good too. The last Joe was just a fill in for Curly. The stooges did new material as late as January 1970. God Bless them all.
Curly had a stroke in 1947 that pretty much ended his career. He had a series of strokes later on that deteriorated his health where he died in 1952 at age 48. Never heard it was a cerebral hemorrhage that finally him in. So sad 😥
@@kenkemzura903 Curly did live a wild lifestyle, he smoked and drank a lot which ultimately lead to his series of strokes. It also believed that the amount of physical punishment he endured from Moe was what eventually lead to his cerebral hemorrhage.
shooting stars break the mold. I'm a girl and I love the Stooges. Before I went off to school I would watch the reruns on ME-TV all the time. But lucky me they have some on RUclips! but yeah I love these Stooges with all me heart.
Fun fact:Did you know the stooges arent actually poking the eyes they are technically aiming for the eyebrows to not cuase any physical damage nor injury during filming
Hmmm, tough choice, though that one would definitely be up there on the list. I'd probably lean towards something in the early works. Men in Black ("Calling Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine, Dr. Howard!") would have to be in there somewhere, maybe even Disorder in the Court. Shemp shorts are tougher to call, but I'm sure he had his moments as well that could be added.
+AngusArt Entertainment Thanks for replying. Disorder In The Court & Men In Black would definitely belong on the list. My favorite Shemp shorts are Three Dark Horses, Three Arabian Nuts, Hold That Lion, Malice In The Palace and Brideless Groom. Also, if Watchmojo includes any Joe Besser shorts, they should consider Hoofs & Goofs.
Fandom of The Three Stooges has run in my family since the invention of movies and TV. I once had a dream that I actually met Moe, Larry and Curly. They even knew my name, and they let me join the club with my stage name, “The Comedy King”. Moe however was the only one who did not enjoy my humor.
In film appreciation class in college, we were shown movies of The Three Stooges, Laurel and Hardy, Abbott and Costello, and Martin and Lewis. And when the teacher had us pick which comedy act was the best, nearly everyone, me included, said The Three Stooges.
One of the few times the 3 stooges used stunt doubles in ANY film they did was in the football episode when they were tackled by college football players. The doubles were seriously injured.
me and my wife went to see the 3 stooges movie ...... went in the afternoon here in Kent Ohio ...... we were the only 2 people in the theater to watch the movie........ i told my wife ...see baby i reserved the whole theater just for us ....lol
The Three Stooges split from Ted Healy and moved to Columbia Pictures in 1934, and spent the majority of their career there (23 years), and made most of their shorts (190) there. Leaving out this fact is like forgetting to tell people the Titanic struck an iceberg before it sank.
And the reruns of the episodes still on television in the middle of the night. Questions: What are your favorite episodes and favorite stooge? Mine is, Disorder in the Court(I have many of favorite episodes)and Moe Howard. As in matter of fact, I was named after Moe Howard. Cause my parents had watched The Three Stooges with their long time childhood friends. My sisters and I really would named after The Three Stooges. Not kidding. Oh by the way. (action: slap) That's you forgot about the Fake Shemp. You left him out of the video.
It's quite frustrating to view a video about such a great comedy team when the voiceover has inaccurate information. The Stooges DIDN'T sign with MGM - they were with Columbia - as can be clearly seen in the logo on some of the clips that have been used. Other viewers have already pointed out the inaccuracies in relation to Curly's cause of death. What ever happened to doing proper research and double-checking the facts???
Here I will list all the three stooges of how I rank them: Curly in 1st, Moe in 2nd, Larry in 3rd, Shemp in 4th, Curly-Joe in 5th, and Joe in 6th/Last Place... Curly: Pure Masterpiece, Talented Comedian who has a special place in everybody’s heart, he was the true fan favorite, always and forever. Moe: Brilliant in his own ways, I’d say he’s more sarcastically funny with his grumpiness, definitely worth a laugh with him. Larry: Very decent type straight-up member that’s hilarious, more cheerful and just trying to be a typical guy to be loved. Shemp: I like him, he’s good it’s just to me he seems to be more mature-some funny, but he’s still pretty good member, I mean he is the oldest of the Howard brothers, so it makes sense. Curly-Joe: Eh... I guess he’s okay, he had his moments of being funny, but not as much as the others, though I will give credit that he admitted that being with the Stooges was one of the best moments of his life. Joe: An Absolute Train-Wreck, he’s just a brat not even funny, millions of thumbs down for him, I don’t think he even enjoyed being with the Stooges, with the fact that he was there for only 2 years, I mean he had to take care of his sick wife which his reasonable, but still I seriously don’t think he enjoyed a single bit about it.
I always heard there were 6 stooges larry moe curly shemp and curly-joe as well as the guy who portrayed a stooge for 5minites because the original actor died or was hospitalized durring shooting. Now i learn about hurley and joe. ...
WHY COULDN'T THEY ALL HAVE PASSED AWAY BY OLD AGE!!!! THEY WERE SO GOOD AND YET THE 3 BROTHERS AND LARRY DIED OF DISEASES!.......it's kind of suspicious once you really think about it and poor moe he was the one who suffered so much of sad emotions considering he was the last to die.R.I.P stooges!:'(
Times were different. Moe, Shemp, and Curly were heavy smokers. Curly would drink and party heavily too. Amazingly, Moe and Larry survived into their 70s. Joe Besser and Joe DeRita lived well into their 80s.
Idc what y’all say... I didn’t like Joe or Curly-Joe.... Shemp was good, Larry was awesome, Curly was a king... but they couldn’t be the three stooges without Moe!
