I love how everyone likes to talk about the “tragic final years” of a star. I worked at the Motion Picture Country Hospital where Larry Fine lived after his stroke. I was there in the mid-70s. He was a happy, funny man with a good life until the day he died. And Moe Howard visited him regularly.
On RUclips there are videos of Larry Fine being interviewed in the MPCH. His speech was slow and a little slurred, but he remembered story after story about Ted Healy, the Stooges, and working at Columbia. Names, places - he was still very sharp.
I visited Larry in his room at the country home summer 74. He invited me after getting my letter and photo. My name was close to that of a recently deceased nephew and the return address on my letter to him shocked him at first. I still have that letter he wrote me. I spent 4 great hours with him. All the way from St. Louis, Mo.
We're happy to know that you had a chance to spend 4 hours with such a fine man. Thank you so much for sharing your life story. Larry Fine will be missed as he know how to appreciate his fans 😢
My friend wrote a fan letter to Larry in the late 60s. He requested an autograph, and Larry mailed him a signed photograph, as well as one from Moe. They corresponded until shortly before Larry’s death. In the final letter, Larry wrote that it would likely be the last time he’d be able to write back, as his health was failing, and he wished my friend well.
Thank you for sharing this information. It brought tears to our eyes. We're glad that your friend got a chance to connect to Larry even just before he passed away. 😢
Larry Fine came to my elementary in 1972. The boys in our 6th grade class absolutely worshipped the Stooges so they cheered like crazy and I believe Mr. Fine was touched.
@@Iknowyoumadnow He was a big star to us as kids in the 60s and 70s. They did not tell us he was in a wheelchair or had a stroke and we were all a little in shock but he put us at ease with film clips, funny stories and letting us ask him any questions we wanted. It helped that the Motion Picture home was only a few miles from our school.
My grandfather once told me he met the stooges (Moe, Larry and Shemp) at a U.S.O. show during ww2, he said they were very nice, personable men and he thanked them for entertaining and bringing joy to people's lives when they needed it most.
@@carlcook801 my grand father told me approximately 30 years ago about a memory he had in the 40s...I didn't know I'd be cross examined by a stooges historian, so you'll excuse my crystal clear recollection of a memory I had as a kid...your honor.
@@carlcook801 Larry was the only unrelated member of the troop, so Shemp tagging along on USO tours is entirely plausible. And Shemp appeared with Curly as well, so you're wrong, Clouseau.
At 71 yrs. old, I grew up watching & LOVING the 3 Stooges. The most memorable short was " disorder in the court". I saw this one again a few short yrs. ago & laughed my head off! Classic!
My grandfather who raised me.. the only times I would see him laugh was when the three stooges were on. He was an extremely serious person but watching the Three Stooges with him broke through his serious part. So amazing I can still hear him laughing.
*** A couple of friends of mine said that they found out where he was staying at a nursing home in California and decided to pay him a visit. This was in the early '70's if I remember right. They said he was so glad to see them and they were well received by the nursing staff. They said he was in failing health, but seemed to have all his mental faculties. Of course, they got his autograph which he was glad to give. 🙂
The teachers went on strike some kids had to stay in the gym. Larry Fine came to speak to us. he was in a wheel chair but still very funny We just loved him! We were thankful he took the time to visit us.
I use to write to Larry back in the early 70’s. He always wrote back. I still have all those letters. Thanks to Larry and The 3 Stooges for all the laughs. You will never be forgotten
Completely agree! There are so many scenes where I closely watch him more than Moe or Curly. (“Im sorry Moe, I thought you was da goon”). Hahahahahahaha!
We strongly concur! We're glad that you like Larry. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. What other types of videos would you like to see on our channel?
@@billp4 This reminds me of a similar situation when I was caring for an elderly gentleman with dementia. There was this huge jug that had once contained cranberry juice. It still had the label on it, but it was now being used to store diesel fuel, which is also red like cranberry juice. I had awful fears that this guy would mistake it as cranberry juice and drink it one day. I informed his family, and they took off the original cranberry juice label and marked the outside with the word, "diesel" in large black letters. Even with that, I was concerned because this guy did some very unsafe things, like immersing an electric mixer in dishwater while it was still plugged into the outlet. I immediately unplugged it and told his family. Unlabeled containers holding dangerous substances can have tragic results. I also heard of a woman who had put cleaning fluid into an empty Coke bottle and was cleaning with it at the same time she was sipping real Coca Cola from an identical bottle. She got distracted while talking on the phone and picked up the bottle of cleaning fluid and drank it accidentally, poisoning herself. She later died in the hospital. A good lesson to be learned from these experiences, and from Larry' childhood story -- ALWAYS clearly label containers.
@@jrnfw4060 MY stepson put gas in a juice bottle and of course his 6 year old daughter drank some. Thank God she spit it right out. No real problems just a bad taste in her mouth.
@@hyzercreek Yes, but when someone has dementia as this guy did, he may not have spit it out. He may have swallowed it, thinking it was cranberry juice. He did many unsafe and peculiar things, due to his dementia, including putting knives in his truck and later accusing me of having stolen them. Fortunately, his family knew of his situation, and didn't believe him. ALWAYS make sure that containers are clearly labeled, and even then, keep them out of the reach of children or others who might harm themselves because they simply don't know any better. Because I was caring for this man, I felt responsible for looking after his well being. Hence, I informed his family about the things he did that were unsafe, so they could be proactive in helping prevent a tragedy. They appreciated it.
I had the pleasure of meeting Larry when he made a personal appearance while I was a student at West Los Angeles College during 1973-75. He was pretty frail by then, but his hair was frizzed like when he was with the Stooges, and when he spoke you could close your eyes and it was like hearing the Larry of old.
My favorite Three Stooges episode was all of the episodes. I am a boomer, and these guys were the best afternoon and after school entertainment that you could wish for. I love them.
Thank you Larry for all of the laughs you provided to me as I grew up, Larry was you can say the heart of the stooges, he was a good hearted man, rest in piece Larry.
Thanks for this information on the great Larry Fine. I grew up on Three Stooges shorts, seeing blocks of them every Sunday morning and laughing hysterically no matter how many times I saw them. As funny as Larry was, it's even more heartwarming to read some of the anecdotes in the comments and see that he was a great guy, too. It's a shame the last few years of his life were spent in poor health, but I hope Larry knew how much joy he brought to so many.
I love the 3 stooges... My dad got ne heavily into them & they been making me laugh uncontrollable my whole life & my dad passed away not long ago & when I watch them it just feels so good bc it's like me & my dad or on the couch again watching this show together just sharing a wonderful moment together... They seemed so sweet & I heard the way they were treated & the amount of money they made & it makes me mad 😠 bc these talented men that worked hard & made us laugh for so many yrs didn't get what they truly diserved & I love how they are timeless & every parent will expose their kid to the 3 stooges ( if they have good taste lol ) but they are so missed adored & loved wish I could've met them!!!
We're glad to know that you love the Stooges! Also, thank you for sharing your favorite scene. What other types of videos would you like to see on our channel?
I have always loved the Three Stooges. My mother and father hated them. But my grandmother loved them. She used to come to the house just to watch the Three Stooges with my brother and me. R.I.P., Larry, Curley, Shemp and Moe. Thank you for the laughter.
As a kid, Curly was my favorite, but in my adult years I came to appreciate Larry's contribution to the team. Yeah, without him the Three Stooges wouldn't be so ingrained in pop culture.
I think what I've most come to appreciate about the Three Stooges was their operation as a team and the way their form of comedy was so stylized. That's the one thing I appreciated the most about that Three Stooges movie that was made a few years ago; they captured that stylization in the Moe, Larry, and Curly characters.
I've always liked Shemp. Seems he was the more vulnerable one in the shows. Shemp was only 60 when he died in the back seat of an automobile, apparently of a heart attack.
@@jrnfw4060 i didn't appreciate shemp as a young man. But i came to appreciate and feel love for shemp over time. He was a professional imo, and in my opinion i think he may have been the inspiration for his younger brothers comedy.
Always loved Larry. If you ever get to tour South Street in Philadelphia, you’ll see a big mural of Larry on the side of the house where he was born! Great tribute!
@@FactsVerse Thanks for your response! If you go to Philadelphia, you can take the Ride the Ducks duck boat tour and they take you down South Street past Larry’s house. Beautiful mural of him playing the violin. Really miss him; the greatest comedy straight man. When Joe Besser temporarily took over for Curly, Larry told him that he would take Moe’s hits so Besser wouldn’t get hurt. What a great guy!
Hard to believe Larry Fine has been deceased for 47 years! Always thought he was great when he was with The Three Stooges...as far as a favorite episode, no favorite...they were all great then and now! 👍 🙏RIP LARRY FINE 🙏
In 1974 some guys from Southeast Missouri State University visited Larry. He was in a wheelchair, but enjoyed giving them an interview, for their small campus newspaper. I remember him saying that Moe lived in a mansion and he never heard from Moe any more. Also, Moe never allowed visitors and interviews. They said that Larry was very friendly and enjoyed the fact that a new generation of fans were interested in the Three Stooges.
*To condense Larry's life this way does little credit to him as an 'authentic creator' of the 'The Three Stooges' as opposed to the 'Healy' era when they 'worked for him as his 'Stooges'* _____________ *The 3 of them together were magic!* *'Shemp' suffered from phobias over traveling...he didn't like being 'on the road' and even rail travel upset him to the point of needing tranquilizers to stay calm and the idea of moving to Hollywood caused him no end of sleepless nights to the point of Moe telling him "Joe will have to take your place because if we aren't there the minute they want us, we'll be on the 'bread-line' with everyone else and I'm not gonna' let that happen!"* *Once 'Curley Joe' came-in full-time...all the rest became history that wasn't equaled until the 'Beatle' era in terms of popularity* _____________ *If you get a chance, watch 'Have Rocket Will Travel" and "The 3 -Stooges Meet Hercules" from the late '50's early '60's era...they're 'hokey' by today's standards, but still funny!*
Great comics!! I loved the episode where Larry played the violin while Curley was fighting in the ring! I never laughed so hard in my life! Loved them all, RIP Larry and the rest of the Stooges gang!
First saw Larry in about 1964 at the Saturday matinee me and my brother were packed off to every Saturday morning in Liverpool England..I remember all of us screeching with delight at the antics of the 3 stooges, an innocent time and fondly remembered..good night Larry. 💙
I remember Larry Fine on channel 52 UHF TV in Los Angeles, long ago, he was older and was selling a book he wrote on a TV commercial in between the 3 Stooges episodes.
He appeared in a commercial in LA for Boys Club in a wheel chair and I remember at 7-8 years old being distraught that he was actually old. In 1972-73 we watched the Three Stooges and Little Rascals daily and in my mind, he will always be 30 years old.
My favorite was Malice In the Palace. I first saw that in the summer of ‘74, and 48 years later in 2022 it still cracks me up! 😂 The scenes with the dog and cat in the kitchen give to side-splitting laughter.😅 Larry was the one that the act couldn’t live without. After his stroke that was it for them.
My mom was a huge fan, having had the Stooges' career begin when she was a schoolgirl. She love watching them with us in the 1960s and beyond, and my kids are the Millennial generation of fans!
I saw both Larry Fine & Moe Howard, plus 'new' Stooge, Curly Joe DeRita, in person, when they were making a personal appearance for their new movie, "Around the World in a Daze" in 1963 when I was 16! (One of their best full length movies). I was surprised how short they were, but still basically looked the same as the "old days"! Great memories! R.I.P. Larry et al!
My dad's a boomer, got me watching The Three Stooges at an early age and I've always loved Larry. Have fond memories of watching them with my dad and grandpa who was a WW2 vet. Grandpa would be laughing so hard he had tears coming down his face. I even have a poster of the three of them in their golfing gear that says "Golf with your friends" I also was able to visit his resting place at Forest Lawn where he is buried with his wife and son. May the Stooges rest in peace....thanks for making my family laugh thru the years
We're moved by your beautiful message to the Three Stooges! Also, thank you for sharing a part of your life. We're glad to know that you love the Three Stooges ❣
You neglected to mention that Soup to Nuts also included Mo Howard. This was the first film appearance of the Three Stooges, then part of Ted Healy's act, though the credits listed all three separately. Similarly the Stooges were all together in Nertsery Rhymes, although the Stooges now included Curley replacing Shemp, and they were billed as Howard, Fine, and Howard.
Thank You Larry Fine 🙂. For everything. You had a special gift 🎁 in comedy and acting. The Three Stooges would have never been brought into existence without you. You are an immortal in the comedy pantheon.
I remember when Larry spoke to all of the seniors at my high school. He spoke of his career in hollywood, as one of the 3 Stooges. He died about a year later in 1975.
Love this heartwarming story... They will love on forever the way parents keep passing them down it's amazing... Also my dad passed not long ago & he raised me to absolutely adore the 3 stooges & I have been laughing for 40 yrs now & when I watch it's like we still watching together & spending that time together my dad had good taste & I am the same with THE HONEYMOONERS but they will be missed but will be loved & adored forever & they were treated bad in the industry they worked their butts off & made ppl laugh HARD for soo many yrs & they got paid hardly anything... Anyways loved u story & I know your grandkids will get their kids one day into them as well... Anyways have a wonderful night 🌙 & rest of u week I wish u all the best & hope u & u family are doing well from a 3 stooges fan such as u self ❤!!!
Oh boy, do I ever! I watched the shorts every morning before school. And I love what the Farly Bothers did with their movie tribute. Very loving and respectful of the boys.
Favorite Stooges short: Men In Black. Favorite Larry line (different short): "It is our duty to posterior." I also love that bit in Disorder In The Court where he haplessly snags the toupee off the prosecuting attorney with the end of his bow, sees it and yells "A tarantula!"
Thank you so much .I grew up and still watch the stooges. My brother wrote to Moe's daughter in the seventys. They became friends and contacted each other often.
I Lovvved Larry! He was one of the more level headed of the Stooges. You also had great empathy for him as he always tried to restore peace & when he'd suffer at the hands of Moe yanking some of his hair out. There are to many favorites to include but, the one where they tried to get Shemp married & Sing a song of six pants. I heard he WAS the social butterfly.
We're glad to know that you love Larry! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and what you know about Larry. Which Three Stooges episode is your favorite?
I used to know one of Larry's granddaughters. Worked a whole summer on an archaeological dig with her. She looked a lot like him in the face! I did ask her a few questions after I found out who she was, but tried not to bug her about it too much. To her, he was just Grandpa. Interestingly, she said she couldn't stand watching the Stooges shorts, especially when she was young, because it bothered her too much watching her Grandpa get slapped around. She also remembered Moe Howard coming to visit when she was young; all the grandkids were afraid of him, thinking he'd be the mean sourpuss he was in the shorts, but he was actually a very nice man in real life.
I remember the days of going to the pictures on a Saturday afternoon and enjoying the 3 Stooges shorts as well as the Looney Tunes cartoons. Great atmosphere in the days of cinema.
Used to be Saturday on mornings in The Regal our local flea pit. It cost 6d ( a tanner) to get in, if you survived the crush of kids at the front entrance!
I remember watching The Three stooges on Saturday morning's while eating cereal and drinking chocolate milk. Like Laurel and Hardy they gave the gift of laughter.
I can’t just one episode! They’re all great in different ways! Larry and his violin are a blast! Stooges had an excellent chemistry,Larry is the stooge in the middle, the glue! I can only say great things about all of them for making me and helluva lot of fans laugh are assets off! Our world is harsh and stupid at times and when ya can people to laugh that’s a damn great achievement! Godspeed to the 3 Stooges! Comedy Gods!
In 1959, I was fortunate enough to see The Three Stooges in person. Their shorts started running on WPIX, Channel 11 in New York City and Moe, Larry and Joe DeRita made a personal appearance at a local movie theater. I was 8 years old and I still remember it. Now I’m a volunteer at the Motion Picture and Television Retirement Home where Larry died.
As a kid, I remember when Larry died…. My mother brought a newspaper home with the article about his death, on the front cover…. I also remembered when moe died as well…. Although I don’t remember, my mother took us to a live performance of the 3 stooges also! Thank you mom, for everything!
They were even popular in the Soviet Union. They were allowed to be shown there because they showed how crude and vulgar Americans are: eating peas with their knives, hitting each other with hammers, etc. That was somewhat ironic because Larry was of Russian ancestry; and Moe, Curley, and Shemp were Lithuanian.
@@williamwingo8952 Well being Russian decent really doesn't have anything to do with the politics of the Soviet Union. He was an American and I am sure his family came to America for a reason! But that's still a crazy fact! China pro ably does the same thing that's why they created TikTok!!
I'm a millennial and I absolutely love the three stooges. Larry was so talented and hilarious! I'm so glad his work lives on for generations to enjoy.🎉
Larry and my dad were best friends. There are some things you left out like his boxing career as a Golden Gloves champion of Philly. He was the tough kid in the neighborhood and nobody would mess with him. Your time frame is a little off by about 3 years but I can't substantiate what I was told. There is a museum here in Philly suburbs dedicated to Larry by his family, you should visit.
Outstanding video!...Been a fan of them since the mid 1950's...Saw them at a premier of Have Rocket Will Travel in around 59/60 when it came out...They were GREAT!!!
We're happy to know that you had a chance to meet Larry. Thank you for sharing your life story. If we may ask, which episode of the show is the most memorable for you?
god bless you larry fine, one of the more under rated comedy acts of the era, you made us laugh our butts off every saturday night in the late 1980s re runs, probably the only b/w tv show i could watch anytime
Disorder in the court was a great one but a favorite i dont know their were just so many greats. Larry was a great guy who answered letters and even phone calls from fans
I met Larry as well as Moe and Curly Joe in Bakersfield in 1964. They were there to promote the Tree Stooges shorts and a grand opening of a store, that how I met them. My Mom was driving down Chester Ave. and there they were, we kids started yelling, stop, stop there are the Three Stooges, she pulled over and we bailout even before the car came to a complete stop. There was no one else there but my sister an brother and of course me, we had a great time talking to them, Larry laughed just like he did on screen and was so friendly as was Moe. I had to ask Moe a question, my Paternal Grandmother told me she had hit Curly and made him cry and Moe said it was true which was shocking and made me feel ashamed Moe pulled out a large black notebook stuffed with papers and wanted to know what her name was, so I told him and he asked where did she live and I told him that too, I did get worried though him and Larry were talking together and seemed very excited. Well Mel Gibson put that in his movie about the Stooges but I can't remember if I told him that story or not, it's been along time ago. I still love those guys, they were real good people and I still love them to this day.
Very cool. I grew up watching them because of Dad, of course. I never heard much about Larry, lots of vids are out there about Curly, Moe, and even Shemp. But not much Larry. Thank you for this, he was more talented than I ever knew! They were a great Trio! (And occasionally a 4 man band).❤
Thanks for watching and for sharing your thoughts! We're so glad you enjoyed this video. What other types of videos would you like to see on our channel?
PUNCH DRUNKS was one of my favorites because it gave Larry a chance to play the violin. I saw him perform in person in the 1960s with Moe and Curly Joe.
I'm 66 and loved those guys my whole life. My favorite scene is when they are in a deep hole they dug looking for a supposed treasure. Any time you get the boys in a confined space with tools its sure to be a riot! Then they light a dynamite stick and try to get out of the hole!! If laughter is truly the best medicine, they've cured alot of people over the years!
In the 60s when I was 12, got to go backstage at the St Louis Police Circus & meet the 3 Stooges. I got to sit on Larry's lap. It was awesome! I'll never forget it & I carried around the 8 X 10 picture for a long time after that!
Tim, once again, there is a HUGE inaccuracy in relating how Larry Fine became a part of the Three Stooges. You make it seem as if Larry joined the Three Stooges when they filmed their first film. Larry, Moe Howard, and Shemp Howard were part of headliner Ted Healy's act in vaudeville and on Broadway before making films. They came to films from their 8-year success as Ted Healy and the Three Stooges in live performances. It was when Larry, Moe, and Curly Howard (who replaced Shemp as the third Stooge when Ted Healy and the Three Stooges went to film at MGM in 1933) broke away from Ted Healy and began their 25-year career at Columbia Pictures making shorts as The Three Stooges, that The Three Stooges that we know and love came to be. Also, you make it seem as if Larry, alone, were in "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" (1963). It was The Three Stooges, as a unit, not just Larry, alone, that was hired to appear in the film. When will you get accurate copy to narrate for a Facts Verse video? Your company is called "FACTS" Verse, not "Inaccuracies Verse".
My grandfather told me that Larry often went to Westchester New Rochelle to visit a cousin and that he was very kind, my grandfather told me that he walked around the neighborhood and that no one recognized him because he grew a mustache and wore a beret, and also have many photos with him
Larry was awesome, he stood between Moe & Curly & Shemp always taking the hits. There will never be such clean comedians like the 3 stooges. Rest in peace boys & thank you for the laughter.👍😊
When you’re a kid goofy Curly is the favorite. As you enter adolescence the mean smart-ass Moe stands out. When you go back as an adult and watch the stooges Larry stands out as the talent of the bunch.
I loved all the stooges but I always related most to Larry. I used to watch episodes everyday after school back on the 70’s and 80’s. After that I’d watch off and on. I’m not exaggerating when I say that I watched every episode more than 50 times each. I used to know every word spoken. I’m still a huge fan. I watch less often but they brought me so much joy and I still love them all.
Saw him at the motion picture retirement home before he died He said that Moe was supposed to come over but he tripped over his dog's leash while walking him and couldn't make it. A very gracious and nice guy. So many great stooge shorts, "A plumbing we will go", "Three little beers", "Dizzy Pilots" "Three little pigskins" "Woman Haters". "Disorder in the Court"
I Loved all of the stooges as a child as a kid as a teen and as an adult.. I'm 53 now and I think the stooges are the best comedy act in history . I still love watching the shows when I catch them on tv.. R I P Larry fine I'm glad to hear that you never lost your sense of humor I hope all of the stooges and their children and grand children realize just how much generations of American children loved the stooges.. we all grew up watching them and no other comedy act to date has managed to have more success or more fans than the stooges did The things they'd pulled off in their acts were simply amazing No one can ever match up to them in my opinion I hope they play in cindication forever because all children deserve to watch good clean comedy.. God bless all the stooges and their family's It's just sad that the movie studios didn't appreciate all the hard work and acting that you men put into your skits All of you will be loved by every child who has the opportunity to see your shows that's for sure and your family's deserve to collect residuals off of the shows that you stooges put out.. forever
Larry died just months before I was born. He was always the straight stooge, and underplayed his role so nicely. He is entertaining others in the heavens no doubt.
I can hear the stooges theme song in my head right now… So heartwarming to read the comments of the fans who got to meet Larry. Thanks for a great tribute to a Hollywood icon!
I met Larry at the motion picture hospital in Calabasas when I was 6 or 7. I was a big fan but it was hard to recognize him at first. He understood that and made light of it. He was very kind, gracious and of course funny as I remember. Ive always felt lucky to have met such a titanic legend in show business. Since then Ive known a good few but honestly none quite compare with the same status.
I used to watch "The Three Stooges" dubbed into Spanish in Latin America when I was a child, and oh boy! It was so popular that even today you can speak about the show and everybody knows about it and tend to smile right away. Saludos desde Panamá, amigos.
Wow, sad ending for someone who seemed to be a great entertainer and lived a gregarious life. Thanks to steaming services have seen a couple of his performances but not enough to have a favorite.
Larry Fine was a virtuoso violin player. He had the ability to teach himself different styles and read everything he could find related to violins. It all started with a $2.50 violin his family bought for him.
Such a great man. A true gentleman !! So entertaining for so long. Talk about slap schtick, the poor man took it on the “turned cheek” so often which is also to his credit. Still so engagingly funny at every turn.
Three stooges was always the high light of my weekend after 46 years of living i still look forward to watching them never a dull moment it just keeps getting funnier everytime i watch them

My grandfather once told me he met the stooges (Moe, Larry and Shemp) at a U.S.O. show during ww2, he said they were very nice, personable men and he thanked them for entertaining and bringing joy to people's lives when they needed it most.
WW2 ended in 1945, and Shemp joined up after Curley's stroke in 1946.....
@@carlcook801 my grand father told me approximately 30 years ago about a memory he had in the 40s...I didn't know I'd be cross examined by a stooges historian, so you'll excuse my crystal clear recollection of a memory I had as a kid...your honor.

My grandfather who raised me.. the only times I would see him laugh was when the three stooges were on. He was an extremely serious person but watching the Three Stooges with him broke through his serious part. So amazing I can still hear him laughing.
Thank you so much for sharing you and your grandfather's life story! Who is your grandfather's favorite Stooge?
*** A couple of friends of mine said that they found out where he was staying at a nursing home in California and decided to pay him a visit. This was in the early '70's if I remember right. They said he was so glad to see them and they were well received by the nursing staff. They said he was in failing health, but seemed to have all his mental faculties. Of course, they got his autograph which he was glad to give. 🙂

Larry's father saved his life. I couldn't imagine the Three Stooges without him.
Given that he left the bottle of acid, probably unmarked, where his son could get at it.
@@jrnfw4060 Diesel fuel is not poisonous. I have syphoned it and got a mouthful, you spit it out and forget it. Same as gasoline.
Larry what a star, thanks for all the great goods and jokes...our prayers have always been with you and your family..

I had the pleasure of meeting Larry when he made a personal appearance while I was a student at West Los Angeles College during 1973-75.

I loved Larry as I loved them all. Larry had comedy all his own. And he was a scream.
They couldn't be more wrong about Moe.
*To condense Larry's life this way does little credit to him as an 'authentic creator' of the 'The Three Stooges' as opposed to the 'Healy' era when they 'worked for him as his 'Stooges'*
_____________
*The 3 of them together were magic!*
*'Shemp' suffered from phobias over traveling...he didn't like being 'on the road' and even rail travel upset
him to the point of needing tranquilizers to stay calm and the idea of moving to Hollywood caused him no end of sleepless nights to the point of Moe telling him "Joe will have to take your place because if we aren't there the minute they want us, we'll be on the 'bread-line' with everyone else and I'm not gonna' let that happen!"*
*Once 'Curley Joe' came-in full-time...all the rest became history that wasn't equaled until the 'Beatle' era in terms of popularity*
_____________
*If you get a chance, watch 'Have Rocket Will Travel" and "The 3 -Stooges Meet Hercules" from the late '50's early '60's era...they're 'hokey' by today's standards, but still funny!*

Larry Fine was a trained violinist in real life. He started playing by age 10.
Punch Drunks!!! Great short.
The guy was a genius his timing was impeccable as with the other two stooges.

I saw both Larry Fine & Moe Howard, plus 'new' Stooge, Curly Joe DeRita, in person, when
they were making a personal appearance for their new movie, "Around the World in a Daze"
in 1963 when I was 16! (One of their best full length movies). I was surprised how short
they were, but still basically looked the same as the "old days"! Great memories! R.I.P. Larry et al!

I Lovvved Larry! He was one of the more level headed of the Stooges.
I knew a girl who was a great niece of Larry's and she'd tell me all about the effects and what the boys were really up to

True, Larry loves connecting with fans 👍

Exactly, Larry was the glue that held the stooges together.
R I P Larry fine
I'm glad to hear that you never lost your sense of humor
I hope all of the stooges and their children and grand children realize just how much generations of American children loved the stooges.. we all grew up watching them
and no other comedy act to date has managed to have more success or more fans than the stooges did
The things they'd pulled off in their acts were simply amazing
No one can ever match up to them in my opinion
I hope they play in cindication forever because all children deserve to watch good clean comedy..
God bless all the stooges and their family's
It's just sad that the movie studios didn't appreciate all the hard work and acting that you men put into your skits
All of you will be loved by every child who has the opportunity to see your shows that's for sure
and your family's deserve to collect residuals off of the shows that you stooges put out.. forever
Larry died just months before I was born. He was always the straight stooge, and underplayed his role so nicely. He is entertaining others in the heavens no doubt.
I can hear the stooges theme song in my head right now…
So heartwarming to read the comments of the fans who got to meet Larry.
Thanks for a great tribute to a Hollywood icon!
You're very much welcome. We love the Three Stooges ❣
All of the stooges had their own charm. But I feel Larry was the best actor of the bunch. His reactions were always the most genuine.
We absolutely agree! Thank you for watching our content. Be on the lookout for our next video!
Larry’s brother also wrote a book about his brother: “Larry In The Middle”
I used to watch "The Three Stooges" dubbed into Spanish in Latin America when I was a child, and oh boy! It was so popular that even today you can speak about the show and everybody knows about it and tend to smile right away. Saludos desde Panamá, amigos.
Glad to know you were able to enjoy the Three Stooges in Spanish! Thank you for sharing your life story. Which episode appealed to you the most?
Loved Larry;never too much of a loon, but a loon enough.
I remember that after Larry Fine's death the Charlotte Observer paid him a tribute on the editorial page. That was special.
Wow, sad ending for someone who seemed to be a great entertainer and lived a gregarious life. Thanks to steaming services have seen a couple of his performances but not enough to have a favorite.
We feel the same way! Thank you for watching our content and for sharing your thoughts. Be on the lookout for our next video!
My all-time favorite of the Boys’ is Micro-phonies. Impeccable timing, witty dialogue, and spot-on performance.
Moe, Curly and Shemp were all brothers.
We strongly agree Thank you for watching our content and for sharing your thoughts. What other types of videos would you like to see on our channel?
