When I was young.. a very long time ago, when one our crowd would be all packed up to move we would have a “ shipwreck party.” We would order food or all friends would bring something and we would sit on the boxes and use boxes for tables. 🤗

Man, she has so much patience for packing. I know when I packed that I started okay but towards the end, I just shoved things into the boxes. I didn't have to move so far as her, it was just a 30-minute drive.

Try to “touch once” as you pack. Put the box on a nearby chair to save all that bending and it allows you to wrap and place items right into the box.

Your “baby bump” is beautiful, Sophie. 😊 For the future, instead of buying newsprint, newspaper is cheaper, works the same & doesn’t leave ink on glassware. Also…this is a “biggie”…use your linens to wrap breakables. Saves space & packing materials.

ok, I didn't think this video was relevant to me before. Thought we were in our forever home. But we may move to the coast (which would be a dream thanks to working remote). (our prev move was 3 miles away, so I didn't even put everything in boxes). Interested to see how you pack things like your food processor.
It's hard for me to decide when packing whether to mix stuff from rooms (like putting sheets in w kitchen stuff) to reduce weight / empty space of each box.
I use clean towels to wrap large serving bowls & platters.

I just use tea-towels, microfibre cloths and even towels to wrap breakable kitchen stuff. Packs two things in one and saves buying packaging materials!

I love the way you are packing, Sophie! You honestly have made me want to pack up my whole house😅 so smart of you to buy boxes in batches so you are not crowding up your apartment. I know when I'm even organizing a garage sale the home feels so crowded so I can only imagine what your apartment must feel like haha it's good that Jim has already taken some things to make some space 😃
Thank you! Totally how I feel when I see other people moving too! Ugh yes, packing up an apartment too far in advance is tough! We are using every inch of empty space to stack up those boxes 👏🏻 I can’t imagine if Jim hadn’t taken a few loads already how bad it would be

You will want a few large boxes for your comforter, pillows, blankets, and towels! One thing you can do with towels and blankets, though, is use them for packing material to keep breakable things safe. Use your kitchen towels, also, to put between your pots and pans so they don’t bang against each other and get scratched up. Have a special box or two with essentials that you bring in your vehicle that you’ll want right away, for toilet paper, scissors, and screw drivers, etc, that you’ll need to put your bed frame together, etc. It’s smart to get your bed set up early in the day, as well, so you’re not dead tired at the end of the day, and realize you have no where to sleep! I literally could have watched this kind of video alllllll day long (if I could sit still that long 😂. I don’t know why watching you pack in such an efficient way was very gratifying. I can not wait to see how you unpack... although, we have so much in common, I believe I KNOW how this plays out. But you’ve surprised me a thousand times so I just wait for it. 😂😂😂

I have never seen so many glass storage containers!
The best part is because they are glass we can bake in them too! So easy to cook with and keep leftovers!

Just a suggestion-the glasses should be packed open side down. If they're just going by car, you should be ok as is

Because I honestly do not know….is that wrapping paper recyclable??
Probably too late now, I saw a lady pack up her China by putting those cheap foam plates between each plate. Then wrapped it with the paper. Nothing was broken
Yup, its recyclable and made from recycled paper!

Unbelievable you're doing this. I bet you're pooped at night! Which toaster oven do you have. I'm getting one for our newly renovated kitchen, and having a hard time deciding. Good luck with your new adventures!
I love to watch you pack and organize but the music absolutely drives me insane. I can’t turn the volume down to mute the music and still hear you talking. Facebook Marketplace is a great place to recycle the packing boxes and materials
Sorry about that, do you mind elaborating on what is frustrating about the music? Is it the volume level or the actual selection of music? The sound of the music drops down to 1% whenever I speak so you should be able to hear me without adjusting anything. Thanks for the tip on facebook marketplace!
