Another tip...Pack a bag or suitcase with just essentials. Seems like no matter how much I plan we always end up finishing really late on moving day. So I pack first night essentials separately so I don't have to dig thru boxes that first night ❤💚💜💙💛
My mother passed away this summer and we hired what we thought was a moving company to move stuff from her house in NC to our house in TX. It turned out to be a moving broker who hired another company who stored the stuff for 6 weeks before hiring another company that was a delivery company. The driver arrived in a UHaul truck with our stuff just thrown inside. Long story short; broken items, missing boxes, and damaged furniture. We are filing a claim with not a lot of hope of recovering much. Check out your movers and the laws regulating movers very carefully especially if you are moving very far.
When we moved, we loaded the furniture in a way that when unloading it got put in rooms furtherest from the front entry. We set up the rooms as we went. Even the beds got made. All boxes were taken in last and set in the rooms where they belonged. I love the color coded tape idea. ❤️ Thanks for sharing.
When my husband got his new job and I found out we were moving from Arkansas to Arizona, I knew I was going to have to pack up the whole house by myself. He came to Arizona in January/February and the kids and I didn’t come till end of May. I started packing up non-essential but wanted items right away. I had a full time job subbing at the local high school, so I knew I needed every possible moment to get it done. Then COVID hit and I no longer had to work, so I was able to focus on decluttering more than I thought I was gonna get to. I was so grateful because I REALLY didn’t want to pack and move all that stuff I didn’t need or want. 😂 But, I was able to completely declutter the whole house! I got rid of SO MUCH JUNK!
Just a tip for the tape colors...the movers will be walking around your house with boxes looking for the room the boxes belong in. A sign on the entrance doors would be a good idea too so they know where to head.
We just moved a couple of months ago and I always spend weeks leading up to the move to nicely pack what I don't need until the new house, organizing and getting rid of things you don't need. And then you get the new place and you quick move necessities in because you're so excited to spend time in your new place. Then you go back to move the rest and you realize just how much you hadn't packed yet and a lot of that stuff you end up throwing in the car without a box and just dealing because you're tired of moving and you just need your old house cleaned out so you can give it to the next people!! 😝
It’s such a kind and polite thing to do to clean your home before handing the keys off to the next family. We bought our first home and moved in (while I was 9 months pregnant) and the previous owners left it filthy😭 I cried. Thankfully my whole family came over and cleaned for me since I could barely bend over at that point.
When I moved to my house 20+ years ago I was pregnant. Being I was in my third trimester I decided that one thing I could do help things move better was to not only mark the boxes for the room they were going in (ie; the kitchen), but to the cabinets they were going to go in. I had many people helping and this way they knew exactly where the contents of that box was going to go and could put the items away. It worked out well for me. I like your color coding with the tape that is a great idea!
You are a brave woman to take on hosting Thanksgiving in the middle of the moving chaos! I highly suggest you take time to sit and rest, pray with your family, so you don't get overwhelmed. I moved last year and it's the only way I kept my sanity. God bless y'all and Happy Thanksgiving!
We went to Home Depot and got a maybe 20 of their medium boxes. They were not too much, and those boxes are so awesome! What I did, b/c I knew I was moving a bit before was this. I had my hubby take photos of the cabinets etc since I was not able to be there for that part of the process. I did not move anything that did not have a space. I notated everything in a book that was in a box, and numbered the boxes. When you have movers - you do NOT want them knowing what is in the box. All they saw was numbers. Then, when we unpacked, we knew which box went in what room. IF I needed to look for something, we knew exactly where it was. The higher numbers were the numbers we would start unpacking first b/c we needed that stuff til the end. :) It worked seamlessly! Also great for those who cannot unpack fast. When I unpacked the kitchen, everything went into its new spot and I hardly had any extras that didn't have a "home"
i'm not moving, but with it being seasonal decorating at an all time high time, i've been putting away, pulling out...big time purge of my christmas, as well. I wanted to get some tubs emptied and out of my closet I use to store this type of stuff. after watching this, i've gone in and restored a lot of it. it's wrapped and packed in drawers (I have a similar piece in my living area), used shelving instead of tubs, etc. you are very detail oriented and I love that! thanks for the motivation! have a good week.
Its been a long time that ive seen ur videos sorry ive just been really busy work n kids, n school. But i still love ur videos, hope u guys enjoy ur new house, n I bet a lot more videos r coming our way
My last move was 7 years ago and I vowed to never move again! Watching you brings back all of the hard move memories! Can't wait to see the new place! Have a great week-end! The count down has begun!
Not sure if you mentioned this (I was packing too while listening to you) but put heavier things like books in smaller boxes and lighter things in bigger boxes. It will just save the backs of the people carrying the boxes on moving day. Also do and essentials box/bag with toilet paper, soap, toothpaste, pj's, chronic medications and breakfast supplies for the next morning so you have that if someone needs the bathroom or anything essential. Good luck with your move. Xxx
I like going to copy centers and asking for their boxes that they get their printing paper shipped in. They have lids so I don’t need to tape them closed.
Dust furniture before it leaves old house under the furniture as well! Write on top of boxes which room it goes into. Leave some cleaning items at old place to do a final clean after empty. Gather all keys that need turned over. Great tips!! Excited for you all! Can’t wait to see new place!
Shrink wrap! For furniture with drawers and for boxes that you want to group together. Pallets are amazing for the garage, you can designate each pallet for a room, you can shrink wrap the pallet and just make sure you can rent a pallet jack and a moving truck with a lift instead of a ramp when you move. We have moved across the country and back a few times. We have moved over 30 times in 20 years because we loved it and my husband was a cable tech so we went where the work was busiest or just wherever we wanted. Shrink wrap and pallets changed my whole life pertaining to moving. I learned this trick after working in a warehouse. A light went on in my head and I was like, "Aha! I am brilliant!" Lol Another trick is color coded markers. Example, my stuff is all marked with bright pink sharpie, my son's stuff we marked with green sharpie, the hubs got blue sharpie and anything household just black. It's really convenient to just see the color and know who's it is and the approximate area it belongs. One last tip, use your spare linens to wrap your pictures and wall decor before you shrink/bubble wrap them.
It is crazy when you look around and are like aw this will be quick to do cus I don't have that much then reality is you have more then you think🤦. I used to like moving and now older and not Mobil it would be do hard to do for me. I mean the excitement of a new space to decorate would be awesome. I am loving watching Emily and some others that have moved and now you will be since I am behind in my vids again. I get the excitement but not the work🤪😁😅🤣🤷💞💞
My husband thought you were standing on your closet shelf. The box was hiding your stool. He was so worried! It was cute to me that he was so concerned about your safety! Best wishes as you move! I did this exactly one year ago!
I’m so excited for you guys. You are going to miss your home and that is normal. We built our home 3 years ago and we now finally feel like we are home because we needed some memories to feel home.
I was so excited to see you on the actual Jaws website . I told my husband wow look at my friend 😀I needed to buy some refills. Shout out to you I love my Jaws cleaning system! Have a blessed day. Cans wait to see the new house! So excited 😆
GREAT suggestion re: the colored tape. I moved a bunch as child and have some great systems in place for when I have moved as an adult and the colored tape is a really great suggestion!! TY!
Moving is an overwhelming process and I can tell you've done a great job at minimizing the overwhelm. I have two moving day tips. Use a pole that goes across the back of the car for moving clothes on hangers, about 10 bucks at Wal-Mart. Two people can hold the pole while a third loads it up and then vice versa when you get to the new place. Sooo much easier than 20 trips in and out with an arm load at a time or having them all piled up and sliding around in the car. Second, take the drawers out of the furniture, move the piece and put the drawers back in. More trips but alot less chance of injury and/or damage from carrying something that's way heavier than it needs to be. I had professionals pack and move for one of my moves and that's how they did it.
I'm excited and waiting in anticipation as if it were my family moving, lol. Good luck with everything, be safe and have a Happy Thanksgiving. Can't wait for pictures and videos when you get moved.
You can get free boxes from USPS go on their website and you can order their priority boxes in bulk (they aren't big big but it's free lol, great for smaller items)
The coloured tape is such a great idea! I love using big Ikea bags to pack things I’m moving in my car - like clothing/shoes etc, and smaller bags for heavier items like books. I find I can fit more in the car since they are soft, and they are easy to carry!
You are uncanny Ash. Love the idea of the color coding! Ahh tape guns, the sound of them is music to the ears..hehe not! Well I wish you all a blessed, safe healthy and happy Thanksgiving ..and wishing you all the very best settling into your new home :) Love you too
That is so nice of you to clean for the next owner. I wished all sellers lived by that rule. When we moved into our current home the previous owner left this house a mess. And to top it off they did not pick up their dogs droppings in the backyard. And we don't even have a dog but we had to pick it all up. Finally I told my hubby lets hire cleaners because we are getting too frustrated on what should be a happy event.
Awesome video! I’ve found that liquor stores are one of the best places to get boxes, if you ask them to hold them for you on their truck day they normally will.
I love that your cleaning your house for the new people. We cleaned out house before we moved but the people we bought the house from didn’t do it. They made the house appear clean. We also got boxes from my husbands job. We were lucky. Anyone can get boxes from my husbands job as long as they call ahead of time.
🙋🏻♀️Moving. December 12 and hosting Christmas Eve and day. Working full time and watching a 4 yr old and 19 month old in between. And instead of packing I’m watching you pack. 🤣in fairness declutter this weekend and have get that out of here to get packing started. I use beach towels linens etc for protection especially around pictures. Good luck
Good luck on your move! You should have the packers for military moves watch this. I’ve seen some interesting rooms be combined in boxes before. I’ve only had to pack once in all the moves we’ve done in my husband’s Navy career and that was because the movers didn’t show up! We had to pack the entire 3,000 sq ft house in a day and a half. Yea that move was anything but organized!
I did the color system in my move before my most recent one. It’s a great idea, but on moving day my family helped. They kept asking “what the heck does green mean?” “What’s a blue one?” Or they just ignored it all together and just threw boxes in my living room for me to figure out later. Even though I made charts and lists and sent to my family members in advance it didn’t help. So I just labeled what room each box went and taped a written sign of what the room is. Before doing either system ask yourself what’s going to work for your helpers before doing it. Love this video, great tips!
Yes, color-coding is awesome!! When we moved we used colored labels that were preprinted with room names on them. SO helpful!!! I've never used movers, but LOVE the idea of the tape on the room so helpers know where things go!!!
Your color coding system is the most genius of all your great moving tips because any of us can use it for the boxes and bins we store. I have been procrastinating forever about going through our storage room. I haven't had a clear system regarding content and usage for those things so I think color coding the containers and having a coordinating master list will make the post declutter organizing and finding what we need later much easier. I'm actually excited to start! Thank you for yet another great tip! Have a happy and Blessed Thanksgiving!! XXOO❤
Ugh! I just started a new job so I'm behind on watching your videos again! But I'm excited to see the moving journey! You are SO organized! Awesome! OK on to the next one! 💜💜💜
Omg Ashley the time has finally come where you will be moving to your new home. So happy for you guys. Will admit I look forward to your videos all the time and know that you will be busy these last few weeks with the packing, moving , holidays and unpacking. I cannot wait to see your beautiful home the reveal of it and all your new content that you will be doing. Congrats and most of all God bless. Enjoy your happy thanksgiving with your family and many more blessings. Love you guys!
I love how organized you are!! When we moved last year I had every box numbered and a correlating spreadsheet with what was in each box. I love your colored tape idea though!! We had friends helping us move and I just had everyone put boxes and stuff wherever they could find room because it quickly got out of control!! I will have to keep this in mind for future moves 😊
Good luck, great you shared your tips. My dad a professional mover so I already know what to do, but when you share the knowledge it's most helpful to those who need it
My dear sweet Ashley, I am praying that you and the family have a blessed Thanksgiving Day. I know you have very much to be thankful for. I pray for strength, wisdom and much peace during this time of packing, organizing and preparing for the big move just remember this to shall pass . We love you and your precious family. Gods blessings my dear sweet one.
I always learn something from watching your videos the coloured tape idea is fabulous. I was starting to get stressed out for you by the end though. Good luck with the move. Can’t wait to see your new home.
All the best for the move!!! So excited for you guys but I know it’s stressful so I’m praying God will give you strength, motivation and just an extra dose of graciousness and patience!
Yep being doing the color tape since college. Nice to see others use these tips. We have moved around a lot. Also if you want to reuse boxes I recommend using post its and put clear tape over it once labeled.
Great tips!!! I am so excited to see your new home! You have so much going on right now and its making me tired just watching. Lol But its all so awesome. Happy Thanksgiving! ~Tanya
I feel like you’re my twin! Our style and thought process is exactly the same. I enjoy your videos so much! Another moving tip: cut out handles in the boxes so it will be easier to carrier 😉. Literally packed my stuff into storage a month ago and moving again in 3 weeks!!
I'm going to be moving to a smaller place in the next 2 or 3 years so there will be a lot of planning for what I want to keep and what I want to give away. It already feels a little overwhelming when I think about it. I will have to check back with your videos for ideas.
I'm so excited for this adventure with your family. I'm sure the anxiety is high but hang in there!! Wishing you and all your families a very Happy Thanksgiving!! Until next time!! ❤💚🤗🦃
You look Beautiful! Great job with all that packing 👍🏽Watching with happiness for you and your Family💕. I just want to thank you for every home tip you taught me from this home. Can’t wait to watch the unpacking and organizing at the new home 🏡. God Bless ur Family 💞! Happy Thanksgiving 🦃.
I really enjoyed this video. I have to start packing too! I have 6 wks, so this was great. I love the color coded tape. Very helpful. I will miss seeing this house, but can't wait to see your new house! Wishing you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving! God bless.💗🙏💗
Labeling is a must when moving. Such a time saver and I love the colored tape method. That is genius Ashley!! I’m sure the movers will appreciate it as well! Love this video ❤️
We got boxes at our grocery store. They have all different sizes. One thing I learned is not to put too many books in one box. It will be too heavy to lift, like you said you can fill up a big box with pillows or other lightweight stuff. Good luck with everything and have a blesed sunday!
I love your new home! You will love having an entry way. I love ours except that it seems too dark. Our front door is 8’ tall, and if it had a large glass it would really be better. Yours does seem much brighter, and your Christmas decorations are lovely! Looking forward to your whole house Christmas tour!!!
Hey guys, I hope you enjoyed today's packing tips! Wishing you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving!
Another tip...Pack a bag or suitcase with just essentials. Seems like no matter how much I plan we always end up finishing really late on moving day. So I pack first night essentials separately so I don't have to dig thru boxes that first night ❤💚💜💙💛
Got my coffee in hand and my FAVORITE RUclipsr on the TV, now that’s a good Sunday morning!!!!
Yay happy Sunday!

Thanks for sharing.
Your almost there!! The tape trick works so good. Sad to see this house go but the new one will be amazing
Almost there! Thanks for being there with me every step of the way
It’s such a kind and polite thing to do to clean your home before handing the keys off to the next family. We bought our first home and moved in (while I was 9 months pregnant) and the previous owners left it filthy😭 I cried. That was super smart!
You are a brave woman to take on hosting Thanksgiving in the middle of the moving chaos! I highly suggest you take time to sit and rest, pray with your family, so you don't get overwhelmed. I moved last year and it's the only way I kept my sanity. God bless y'all and Happy Thanksgiving!

i'm not moving, but with it being seasonal decorating at an all time high time, i've been putting away, pulling out...big time purge of my christmas, as well.
Color coding boxes. I will have to modify it using different markers but love the tape idea. Thanks for sharing.
The new owners will be so grateful it was you who had the house 😆 Mrs super clean and organised . Your home is like a Palace so well looked after 💛👌
Its been a long time that ive seen ur videos sorry ive just been really busy work n kids, n school. But i still love ur videos, hope u guys enjoy ur new house, n I bet a lot more videos r coming our way

So so organised how exciting can’t wait to see your new house tour, all the best God bless. Enjoy the moment 🙂 I always say it too
We can’t wait to share it with you!
The tape trick is brilliant! That said, I'm so excited for you. Can't wait to see your new place!
I like going to copy centers and asking for their boxes that they get their printing paper shipped in. They have lids so I don’t need to tape them closed.
They have QR code moving box labels that you can scan and see a picture of what's in the box. Thought that was SO clever. Thanks for the great video!
Dust furniture before it leaves old house under the furniture as well! Write on top of boxes which room it goes into. Leave some cleaning items at old place to do a final clean after empty. Gather all keys that need turned over. Great tips!! Excited for you all! Can’t wait to see new place!

Thats a great way to move w the tape!! Cant wait!!! Happy Thnksgiving!! Pace urself!! Luv ya guys!! 🎄⛄☕🐨🍟🐨🌠❄🏡🔑💟🐕🐱
Love the color tape system💞💞
Awesome video! I’ve found that liquor stores are one of the best places to get boxes, if you ask them to hold them for you on their truck day they normally will.
One of the most things I dread. I haven’t moved in 13 years. Thanks for the tips
I love that your cleaning your house for the new people. We cleaned out house before we moved but the people we bought the house from didn’t do it. They made the house appear clean.

Good luck with the move. Can't wait to see your new house and your new content xxx
Thank you so much for the kind words! God bless and Happy Thanksgiving
My dad a professional mover so I already know what to do, but when you share the knowledge it's most helpful to those who need it
Great organization and packing tips
Great video and those boxes are perfect because then nothing gets too heavy
To those people that get the second hand boxs covid can love on cardboard just being helpful you do you
My dear sweet Ashley, I am praying that you and the family have a blessed Thanksgiving Day. I know you have very much to be thankful for. I pray for strength, wisdom and much peace during this time of packing, organizing and preparing for the big move just remember this to shall pass . We love you and your precious family. Gods blessings my dear sweet one.
I always start with pictures and decor when we move. Having a spot to keep all the boxes is very helpful too.
Yes for sure
So exciting! Happy Thanksgiving and I love you guys too 💕❤️😍😇
I always learn something from watching your videos the coloured tape idea is fabulous. I was starting to get stressed out for you by the end though. Good luck with the move. Can’t wait to see your new home.
Hello Ashley 😀 Moving is a lot of work but worth it when you get to new house. I Cannot Wait To See Your New House!!!!! 🏠🏡🏠🏡
All the best for the move!!! So excited for you guys but I know it’s stressful so I’m praying God will give you strength, motivation and just an extra dose of graciousness and patience!
All the best with the new home. Nice tips. Thank u. 😍😍😍
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! Always enjoy your videos, and looking forward to seeing your new home and designs!
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!
Great Tips. Thanks so much.
Yep being doing the color tape since college. Nice to see others use these tips. We have moved around a lot. Also if you want to reuse boxes I recommend using post its and put clear tape over it once labeled.
Happy Thanksgiving! Excited for new home tour.
Love the color coding with tape. Brilliant...have a Blessed Thanksgiving. Praying for a smooth move. 🙏💛
Thank you, hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving too
So satisfying!! I hope you’ll share your unpacking at your new home ♥️♥️
Great tips!!! I am so excited to see your new home! You have so much going on right now and its making me tired just watching. Lol But its all so awesome.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Great vlog ashley cant wait to see the new house xxx
I’m just so excited for your family! I’m loving the tape trick smart idea. Good luck with the move.
I’m driving hubby nuts watching moving videos. We are on the final count down 6 days until we move.
You are so lucky!! Happy for you!🌲💕💜
The color tape system is a great idea. So excited to see new home.
I feel like you’re my twin! Our style and thought process is exactly the same. I enjoy your videos so much!
Another moving tip: cut out handles in the boxes so it will be easier to carrier 😉.
Literally packed my stuff into storage a month ago and moving again in 3 weeks!!
How can a packing video be so relaxing to watch! When we move houses it is so stressful because I declutter as I pack so that adds so much stress
Wrap your signs in plastic wrap too so they don’t get scratched. We do this for storage as well.❤️
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!🧡🍁🍂🦃
Thank you, you as well!
Thanks for sharing your packing. It was super enjoyable. Can’t wait to see the new place. I hope all goes well with the move.
Awwww I’m goin to miss this house I will love the next one🥰
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🍽🍁
I'm going to be moving to a smaller place in the next 2 or 3 years so there will be a lot of planning for what I want to keep and what I want to give away. It already feels a little overwhelming when I think about it. I will have to check back with your videos for ideas.
I'm so excited for this adventure with your family. I'm sure the anxiety is high but hang in there!! Wishing you and all your families a very Happy Thanksgiving!! Until next time!! ❤💚🤗🦃
Happy Thanksgiving!

I really enjoyed this video. I have to start packing too! I have 6 wks, so this was great. I love the color coded tape. Very helpful. I will miss seeing this house, but can't wait to see your new house! Wishing you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving! God bless.💗🙏💗
I can't wait to see the new house!!!
Labeling is a must when moving. Such a time saver and I love the colored tape method. That is genius Ashley!! I’m sure the movers will appreciate it as well! Love this video ❤️
Thank you!
Great tips for moving! I’m looking forward to the new home tour!
Thank you for the video! I need this! And thanks everyone for your tips in a comment section. Love you all♥️
We got boxes at our grocery store.
Happy Thanksgiving and it is a happy time to celebrate with family. It is getting exciting now that packing has started, can't wait to see new house.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I love the colored tape idea. Have a bless day!
