Really enjoy your video been years since I've worked on any saws just getting back into cutting my own firewood and buying and fixing old saws to use just got an old Mac 610 going again thanks
Love the old school saws. Nice job getting her up and running. I have several huskies including an OEM 327 but my favorite is still my original 281xp. It’s like us older guys, a little heavier but solid and dependable 😊
Mr Tinman, I've watched a few of your vids and want to say thanks for the wonderful videos, and a huge thanks for not ruining them with crappy background music. I don't know why some people do that.
Hi, friend. New saw porter here. I’ve successfully ported my first saw. It was a poulan with plastic transfer ports so not much to talk about. But your videos taught me how to use my degree wheel & several other little tricks. Could you do a video on finger ports? When & when not to put finger ports in a saw etc. My next build is a MS271. I’ve got it torn apart on the bench now just waiting on parts! Cheers
HI TINMAN 😊😊 U shoudve took the filter out of the gas tank and sprayed it W carb cleaner 2 clean the fuel filter if U cant get any air 2 go through its stopped and is no good replace W a new 1 and U should match the old W the new and the end of the fuel filter and has 2 be the same size or it wont work and the gas line can be dry rotten and I VE seen the screen in the carb stopped up clean out and a gas inlet can be stopped up also clean out and the old gaskets are no good or carb gummed up U will have 2 let the carb soak in carb cleaner 4 that at least over night longer if its worse than that 😊😊 OMG 3 6 2O24
Good stuff, Tin Man. I always learn something from you. Thanks for making great content. I hope you and the family are well. Cheers from Michigan, USA.
Hey Tinman, nice saw for the investment. Definitely a big win. My 268 ran just like that after tinkering with it. Only problem was it fell flat when I put in the wood. It ended up needing the vent. I stuck a new one in and it runs like a scolded dog.
Good timing with this video. I'm working on the same saw, same year right now. My brother in law found it at the dump and gave it to me. Compression feels ok, has spark, don't see any scoring on the piston. Going to do the carb this weekend. Having trouble tracking down a chain break hand guard though. I think in a past video you said they aren't interchangeable with the later model plastic ones? The side cover and break mechanism are all there, just missing the guard.
My 268-272 build does the same exact thing with the slight fluctuations in rpm when turned on the side. I tried the brake clean and had same results as you
Hi, Tinman! Yes, I do like this kind of content. You'll have to keep bidding on auctions 😉. Hearing the rpm change on flipping the saw around, I think I'd have to do a P&V test even in spite of passing the carb spray test. Must admit I'm always leak conscious, since I got into the saw thing because I burned up a piston due to a bad crank seal.
Absolutely my favorite model if husky. I own two and I would own more if I could fine them. Just tuned up my 268xp yesterday. Same carb 234 tillotson. Great content. Still haven't figured out the 272xp build I've been tinkering with. Has to be the new crank is out of phase (non-OEM part). Oh well I will keep at it as time permits. TC Mahalo Tinman 🤙🤙🤙
I just wanted to share with the group that sometimes when you turn it on its side and it races (changes idle speed), it's because the fuel line isn't the right length or "floppy" enough, or you don't have enough gas. Also, I've had saws with bad crank seals run bad sitting normal/upright, and then better on each side (equally).
Mr Tinman, what is your opinion on when to rebuild a carb? Is it after X years, after the saw not being used very much over a lengthy time, saw was used a great deal and the parts wear out? You have a great deal of experience and would appreciate your comments. Are OE parts usually best to use?
I never get tired of seeing the basics done exceptionally well!!!
I'm really enjoying your videos...both the info and your style. Thanks for taking the time to share them with us!
A lot of good tips which saves a lot of time for those of us who do not repair of a regular basis 👍
Keep up the good teaching videos, 🎉 Tinman😊

That was such a great tip about hard start due to a worn needle. 😊
Thanks Tinman😊

I don't know why some people do that.
It’s always nice to be able to figure out a saw and get it running
I enjoy the lessons, but it is you I really enjoy!
Thanks for being here!!

Love the content Tinman!! Bought out an old shop of all there broken saws and have been building and testing ever since been an absolute great time!
Love the oldstuff
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner Bud!!! Fuel line, Impulse line, Filter and a Carb kit and you have a decent runner!! That’ll be a good workhorse.

Excellent advice. Thank you.
A win for sure👍🏻 I also expected the metering diaphragm to be crispy!
good stuff, and the best tune advice ever

Yep. Definitely like the repair/re-build videos. The misses is sick of hearing chainsaws on RUclips so these ones go down a bit better lol

Sounds like piston slapping on video, I had myself many of them, very good quality chainsaw.

Would love to see you warm up a Mini Mac. They seem like a good challenge

Great job Tinman 👍🏻
The piston is slapping pretty good i can ear it all the way to Alberta. Hahaha
I’m learning and I like it thx
Thanks for taking the time to be here.
That’s awesome I just got an 84 266 running again
Thanks for helping out ironhorse.
Lol he called you Ironhorse! Hey Ironhorse put out a new video today! He's back & looking good! God bless everyone, be kind.
Throw a Hyway pop-up piston in it. She’s clattering pretty bad.
Very nice
Great save. Have to be careful, some sprays take off paint. Have you ever tried small amounts of propane?
I just rebuilt the carb on my 268 a few weeks ago it was pretty bad the diagrams were super crusty
How's the Tinman and family. Clad to see Harvey put out a video miss that guy

Like the content! keep it up!
Did not know to clip the needle. Are any walbro or zama carbs that way?
You ever see a full wrap that connects to the dog?
Please describe the differenc in material gaskets for what fuel 😊
Did you change the dirty screen, that had lots of gunk?
Hey guys😊
