I had a Poulan 655BP that I bought new in the late 80s. The only issues with saws were the rubber isolator/mounts rotting out. I still have some of the mounts. The other was there is a plate that divides the oil tank and fuel tank. It fell out and allowed the bar oil and fuel to mix. Poulan fixed it under warranty. I got it back and it fell out within 10 minutes. The dealerships fixed it again and it stayed in. If you take the fuel cap off you can see the plate. Was told it required splitting the cases to do the job.
When you get to it I’d sure love to know what you think of the 036 with a 25” light bar. I absolutely love the light bar on my 036. Probably the best balanced smaller firewood saw I’ve ever used. Your not gonna win any races stock but gosh darn is it a pleasure to use.
Put the pretty corpse P42 parts on the Frankenstein running saw and put it in the wood....then you will have a nice feel for whatever changes you make when you eventually build and port your " pretty saw"
I love me some Pioneer saws. I too have a paid way too much for it p41 but I am bound determined to have an exellent running ported Pioneer. Think Ima name it snowball😆😆mine will have a oem Husq 272 carb on it.
Good score Tinman, I'm excited for both builds, I just did a 036 about a year and a half ago. Did a light port job on it, cleaned and opened up the piston bumped the compression and a eagon straight shot. That little saw runs strong for what it is. By the way a after market 044 3/4 wrap fits right on there. Have to re drill 1 hole. Can't wait... got a nice farm saw bad coil and cracked reedblock. I'm gonna have to dig it out and start hunting parts. Been wantin 1 forever that runs..
I had a P42HP just like the ones you bought, it was owned by a fire department and they had painted it red. I spent about 4 hours cleaning the red paint off it but it had hardly been used otherwise. They are pretty easy saw to mod: muffler mods are simple to do, "west coast intake"(using 288XP intake elbow), and Boyseen make a upgraded reed for about 20$ and makes a noticeable difference.
i just picked up a 036 pro in michigan for 40 guy sed it be good for parts sed it ran last year wont start this year he sed he is original dont think he never cleaned i took off the back pulled air filter and push lever down to choke the choke was only closing like 80 percent sence the on off choke switch was all clogged so it would go down all the way cleaned fired on second pull pretty happy with it so far
I love my 034super, basically predecessor to the 036. Well i did love it until the dreaded after market wrist pin clip failed yesterday. Tore up the piston and cylinder bad
was over a friends shop today and when i was driving in to get rid of used motor oil i saw an old jonsered 930 passing hands!! had a 3 ft bar on it!! still ran and he bought it back for the second time!!
In my experience anything labeled CB is not a boost port saw. I have a minty P39 boost port saw and it’s labeled PP39. Got 3 other P39s that aren’t boost port saw that are labeled CB. That the extent of my knowledge so could be proved wrong
never seen a chainsaw auction ... didn't even know it existed but im in Washington State so im limited in many things. except taxes we have loads of taxes here
We have what are called consignment auctions here or sometimes just farm auctions, different auction company's have them about once a month and they don't sell just chainsaw's. Everything from household furniture to heavy equipment are sold at these sale's, there's something for everyone "bring the whole family" lol! You can buy an end table for the wife and a D8 cat later that afternoon for yourself if you want it's a real mixed bag of anything and everything. PS we have lot's and lot's of taxes here to, they keep adding new one's every few months.
One persons garbage is anothers gold... problem is everyone think their stuff is gold...😂 I'm not overly interested in all the knock off brands, it's kinda hard to get parts for them and I likely wouldnot cut with them anyway... oh well to each there own. TC Mahalo Tinman 🤙🤙🤙
I'm 15 years old. I collect chainsaws. 036 is my favorite of all time. Would you do some kind of a trade? I have some really cold saws that would be cool for your channel
The healing shelf 😂
I love it
Those 036 machines are just a honey of a saw. My absolute favorite.
😂😂😂
Picked up a blown up 036 today from my local saw shop , cant wait to get into it!
Will be interesting to see how these saws turn out. First look appears like you did ok. A little Tinman magic and your in business 👍👍

Didn't realize that I love the "she cuts, eh?" statement in your intro. Don't lose it again, Tinman...it is classic
My friend, you can do my auction shopping any day!!!!
You have the Midas touch!💪
Good haul sir,
I just recently got a P42, runs well.
I own a couple of 036s, great saws
Reed valves and Pioneer are where it's at. Good development of the channel to get into timing them.
NIce three-fer, looking forward to the progression of going thru each of them!
You did good. Lots to look forward to watching.👍

I just finished a light port job on an 036!(thanks to your videos!) it really woke up and is just a joy to cut with
More Pioneer content please. I have several of the P series. They are great saws. Very manly. Boyesen 2 stage reeds are still available for them.

Great buys , never seen p42 Pioneer/Partner before,thanks for sharing 👍💨💨

The "ugly" p42 sure sounds good. And the 036 looks very promising. I'd say you did pretty well!
I have to chuckle about the farmsaw being the only one without ignition issues. They were the worst for issues. Nice p42's
Nice pioneers brother they should be fun !
Nice score. I have a poulan 655 bp that gets the smiles out. It's my first and only pioneer based platform. I love It's design.
Sweeeeeet!! I have a p42 and p61! Some of my favs for sure!! Awesome
The Stihl will be a nice firewood cutter. The Pioneers should make for 1 ripper of a saw.
Nice haul!
Looks like a great day at the auction
I love these old pioneers! I have a p41 :)
I have 3 pioneer p41s and I love them, good power they oil like crazy and been super reliable for me

Hey buddy I just picked up a 064 and a 036 and a 026 I haven't messed with them yet
I have an 064 and 036. Sold the 026 to buy the 064. 036 cuts like a dream for firewood

I have a Pioneer 1074, and a Pioneer P41 that I would part with, if you get out to B.C., give me a shout and we'll make a deal.
P42 those are tank saws
I'm 15 years old. I collect chainsaws. 036 is my favorite of all time. Would you do some kind of a trade? I have some really cold saws that would be cool for your channel
How's the Tinman and family
My neighbour always had Pioneer saws back in the 70s wish I would have asked him for a couple of his old ones!
