Can't stop watching Sophie and Brendan. They should've won every dance contest they entered! Can't watch other couples after you have been lightning struck by these two.

To everyone saying that this is not samba, lemme just tell you, it is. The basic moves in Ballroom Samba are here ike the batucada, promenade runs, samba rolls, reverse samba rolls, there is also bounce and hip actions here, so, yeah, this is a Samba, people.
Love, love, love Sophie. She almost shot herself in the foot by doing such an amazing Charleston so early on - it meant that all the other dances (many with technique far harder to master than Charleston's) were going look comparatively less impressive. I actually thought this was a really nice samba. Good basics and she does feel the rhythm. I think she has such a laid-back personality, that she'd never have been able to go full out latin-party feel - but I just love her style. Classy gal.

maybe she´s not the best dancer but she has charisma, and like we say in our country, she got angel, something that makes you want to see her... so... the score she had is for that too! not just for the dance.... you can be the best dancer but if you dont transmit is like you are nothing.

There was plenty of samba moves in there. It lacked a bit of energy, and the samba bounce action was missing, but it wasn't a bad routine.

Take back what I said earlier. I think she danced really well. I think camera work could be better, so we could see her feet more!! They're quickly becoming my favorites along with Susanna and Kevin.
Yes, that was his competitive specialty -- and how could you have missed the bota-fogos, the Samba rolls, and the basic traveling patterns of the Samba? That routine had content and to spare!
I don't understand what you're saying. My comment had nothing to do with "technicalities." It had to do with what Ballroom defines as the distinctive elements of Samba, which is admittedly NOT the same thing as true Brazilian Samba and never has been. For Brazilian purists, perhaps this was no Samba, but by Ballroom standards, it most definitely was!

I don't think this was overmarked at all! Being a tall girl makes the samba incredibly difficult, and she doesn't quite have the body for it, which made her look quite awkward. That's why people at home didn't like it. But looking at it technically, it was quite hard to fault.
Liked it, but I think she's a bit too calm and collected if you know what I mean? It suited the charleston and made it more sophisticated, but I think with the latin dances, she needs to give it more of a party vibe, and smile a bit more. I like her though :)

This is ballroom samba which varies quite a bit from traditional samba.
I understand that Sophie is still a beginner (and I wouldn't expect a professional show), but even if you start pointing technicalities, there's still going to be something missing there, and this thing is the samba itself. Even the song didn't have a single samba beat. Samba de gafieira has a different mood.

I'm a big SEB fan from Brazil, but I've got to say that I didn't see any samba there. Wasn't Brendan Cole supposed to be specialised in Latin dances?

I think she could do it better. But Brendan put plenty of recognizable Samba steps in there. But thought maybe she struggled to keep up a bit. It's my least favorite latin dance, so glad its out the way. She did well for her 1st latin dance.

I guess this needs repeating: This is a ballroom samba which varies quite a bit from traditional samba. The steps are different, it's not samba like it's danced in Brazil. It's the samba that's choreographed to be danced in a ballroom.

This wasn't salsa!! I realy like him and He's trying realy hard but, dancing is not his thing, anyway just to see him taking his shirt of was more spicy than any salsa.
