I had a nightmare about a zombie apocalypse, I remember *that* feeling of not being able to control your body, but being there to experience it, it scared me. But this man turned it into a skit, respect.

This is actually a good horror/thriller material. We know that unfortuntelly there are quite a few sicknesses that trap a conscious mind in a disabled body. With zombies, as the skit shows we usually associate mindless husks, but the idea of a conscious mind and original personality trapped within a body they can't control is horrifying. They can't do anything about it and the survivors don't know that is the case. Both being trapped in a body you can't control that runs towards potential death is scary and the realization that as a survivor you may be killing conscious minds and not "just zombies" is disturbing.
What makes this video even funnier is if you remember that he said he doesn't have control over his body, then it's clear that even the zombie him is concerned about the entire situation.

There's a korean webmanga like this called "Housekeeper" About a robot maid who protects her young master after he turns into a zombie during the apocalypse. After about a year, he starts to recover his intelligence and even memories of his past life as a human. Upon realizing this, she makes it her mission to save and help all the zombies. After all, they are just humans who are sick and need medical attention, and most importantly love and care. Unfortunately the government has already started a mass extermination of the Zombies. But luckily she was secretly installed with crazy combat augmentations and can go fucking super saiyan so it's like a battle manga as well. It's a really interesting subversion of your average zombie story. With so many different genre's mixed into one. It's very often switches between cute and wholesome and absolutely horrific. It is a story where robots act more human than humans. Where zombies are the victims, and humans are the monsters. It gets my highest recommendation.
There have been a few variations of this idea but in novel form. I've read one about 9 years ago, cannot recall the name, but it was zombie romance and I loved it. Basically 1 Sentient zombie helping his non-sentient girlfriend zombie escape avoid other humans until she became sentient. They eventually became befriended some humans who helped them along the way. In the end, he dies for his gf and she gets cured and lives a normal life without zombies.

The idea of a zombie having no control over their body, but still having the full functionality of their brain is somehow more terrifying than the entirety of DL2.

Assuming you still feel all the physical sensations, then you'd be in constant pain from being a rotting corpse not to mention the constant hunger, the smell, if you manage to kill someone the taste of eating a human. Most people would break after a couple of days.

I don't this was intentional, but some zombies in Dying Light can actually make noises similar to speech. The runners are actually recently turned zombies, and sometimes in the first game you can hear them begging for mercy if you beat them to death. They really are just people who don't have control of their bodies. They just haven't fully died to the infection yet...
Not to mention (massive kinda spoiler so I’m skipping down don’t click read more unless you wanna be spoiled) Aiden is living proof of that theory, with how he has a semi control over his virus. There’s even hints of this in the prologue, when you read a final note in that end of the world party. Dying Light truly is the saddest zombie universe. At least think of it putting these people out of their misery. If they stay infected, they’re only going to evolve into something far far far worse. The people in the tv tower turn into freaking boomers. That’s gotta be hell.

Dying Light was one of the games that made me scared to be a zombie because Virals are still semi conscious. When you hit them in game, sometimes they momentarily beg for their life and then resume attacking you. If you chop off an arm, they'll hold it too because they still feel pain.

They do that when you talk to an NPC as well lmao. I saw guards killing zombies but when I talked to an NPC. The guards were just standing there and zombies were just walking normally around them. They were just ignoring each other.
In the leadup to DL2, devs made q point to call them "infected" and not "zombies" as zombies are reanimated dead, where infected are still living humans, they are just infected with a virus (like rabies does to animals, but worse). So all the infected have varying levels of themselves, still conscious, inside, suffering from the pain and discomfort of the mutations the virus has done to their bodies.

This is actually a good horror/thriller material. We know that unfortuntelly there are quite a few sicknesses that trap a conscious mind in a disabled body. With zombies, as the skit shows we usually associate mindless husks, but the idea of a conscious mind and original personality trapped within a body they can't control is horrifying. They can't do anything about it and the survivors don't know that is the case. Both being trapped in a body you can't control that runs towards potential death is scary and the realization that as a survivor you may be killing conscious minds and not "just zombies" is disturbing.

It's very often switches between cute and wholesome and absolutely horrific.
It is a story where robots act more human than humans.
Where zombies are the victims, and humans are the monsters.
It gets my highest recommendation.
I’ve read a few manga about either a friendly zombie, or the Mac being a zombie but they are conscious
There have been a few variations of this idea but in novel form. I've read one about 9 years ago, cannot recall the name, but it was zombie romance and I loved it. Basically 1 Sentient zombie helping his non-sentient girlfriend zombie escape avoid other humans until she became sentient. They eventually became befriended some humans who helped them along the way. In the end, he dies for his gf and she gets cured and lives a normal life without zombies.
This would be such a cool premise for a anime or a show how a zombie goes from monster to human

The idea of a zombie having no control over their body, but still having the full functionality of their brain is somehow more terrifying than the entirety of DL2.
Imagine being a zombie, minding your own business and some lunatic jumps from a roof and drop kicks you into next week

For a guy stuck in the body of a zombie who has no control over said body and likely doesn’t even feel pain, he sure doesn’t want to die.
Caleb’s character accidentally running into the original point of zombies is pretty funny
I don't this was intentional, but some zombies in Dying Light can actually make noises similar to speech. The runners are actually recently turned zombies, and sometimes in the first game you can hear them begging for mercy if you beat them to death.
They really are just people who don't have control of their bodies. They just haven't fully died to the infection yet...

Aiden is living proof of that theory, with how he has a semi control over his virus. There’s even hints of this in the prologue, when you read a final note in that end of the world party. Dying Light truly is the saddest zombie universe.
At least think of it putting these people out of their misery. If they stay infected, they’re only going to evolve into something far far far worse. The people in the tv tower turn into freaking boomers. That’s gotta be hell.

Dying Light was one of the games that made me scared to be a zombie because Virals are still semi conscious. When you hit them in game, sometimes they momentarily beg for their life and then resume attacking you. If you chop off an arm, they'll hold it too because they still feel pain.

In the leadup to DL2, devs made q point to call them "infected" and not "zombies" as zombies are reanimated dead, where infected are still living humans, they are just infected with a virus (like rabies does to animals, but worse). So all the infected have varying levels of themselves, still conscious, inside, suffering from the pain and discomfort of the mutations the virus has done to their bodies.

The zombies all being conscious add a completely new level of horror to any zombie apocalypse. Someone needs to incorporate this into their story!
