I find it contradicting that Knecht has a long wingspan of 6'9 for a SG, finishing top 2 in both lane agility and shuttle run, and front runner in vertical leap, yet he gets easily blown by guards. What is the reason behind?

Some dudes just don't have the instinct or IQ to play defense. I don't hate this pick for the Lakers as they're desperate for spacing, but I believe his defensive inability brings his ceiling down significantly. A lot of real nba analysts (not the shit you see on TV) had him going late in the first round.

Tennessee fan here: If the lakers have a true scoring threat Dalton will thrive as a complimentary asset to that individual. He only spent one year at the D1 level. He will get better on both sides of the ball. He was a statue on defense when he first arrived here.

@@bigdawggrese8128 According to his strengths and weaknesses, he is very similar to a taller version of both Reeves and Russell, this is not saying they are exactly the same, but if we can say Kobe and Jordan had similar games, how am I wrong by pointing out the similarities of Knecht game to the two forementioned Lakers?
Help me out, maybe I am missing something, how do you think his game is different than the two?
@@bigdawggrese8128 Here's my question. If he does offer similar if not the same strengths and weaknesses as Russle and Reeves, does this mean one or perhaps both will get traded? Or can you see the Lakers being able to match up with the western powerhouses with a big hole on defense, especially in the department of foot speed, and then not being able to defend against quicker guards off the dribble?
@@mrxexesit’s just lazy analysis. “Just a taller version of…” requires no effort. There are hundreds of NBA players that you can extrapolate a few similarities from and just call them a taller/shorter version of [insert random NBA player]. Comparing players that have a decade-plus of NBA experience = fine. Comparing someone who just got drafted to 2 veterans who play nothing alike = not fine. Dlo and Reeves have completely different games, so saying he’s a taller version of them makes no sense. Analysis needs to be more than “he shoots threes and can score”… that’s basically describing 2/3 of the league. In reality, the only reason the Reeves comparison exists in the first place is because he’s white. They are not really similar.
@@twcam The reason why I made the point is to point out the redundancy the Lakers have with this type of player who can score and is decant at passing but struggles with slow footwork (especially on defense), finesse dribbles, yet rhythmic shooters (who can heat up real quick or remain ice cold for prolonged periods). While I think Dalton Knecht may have a higher ceiling, this doesn't negate the point that having such similarities in three key players on a team, may not be the best choice to make, if you want to win a championship. This is why I am guessing there might be a trade coming up soon.
P.S. i see similarities between the Lakers drafting Dalton Knecht to the 49ers drafting Ricky Pearsall because both moves may lead to a trade down the line.
