- We came to Copper Canyon for 2 days and ended up staying for 8 instead! After leaving the town of Creel, we headed further into the canyon to a town called Areponapuchi. It was the best decision we made and I already want to come back to this sleepy little place and eat all my meals back at this hotel and hike into the hills with our tour guide Guadalupe everyday.

That's what makes you special. Rather than visiting what most tourists visit, you venture yourself to inner deep Mexico. Raramuris are magical. When Spaniards tried to conquer them, they failed. They ran and hid in caves up in the mountains. The mountains protected them. The conquerors couldn't reach them at all. Their story is sad. They are way too proud. A couple of years ago, in a tough winter, many died of hunger. Tons of snow fell and the previous government did nothing. AMLO our current president is very very close to all those forgotten native people across the nation like no other previous presidents. He has made lots of social programs for them for the first time in history. AMLO loves ethnic groups very much. I am sure he has already done some sort of program to help Raramuris. It will be interesting if you ask about it to locals.

Y sin duda AMLO ha sido el unico que desde siempre antes de ser presidente mucho antes de ser jefe de la Ciudad de Mexico estuvo involucrado en depedencias indigenistas. El unico presidente que se ha interesado en los pueblos indigenas. Y Frenaa? Un monton de acarreados por un sujeto desquiciado.

Gracias. Chihuahua is my home state. I have hiked these mountains in Chihuahua, and went camping there with college friends, we slept in a cave and enjoyed the hot springs there, it was an adventure.
I like your concept of being a tourist: flexibly immersing yourself in places that look interesting to get the real feel of them - a kind of respect, as opposed to just "lookeylooing" about from distraction to distraction,
THANX FOR GIVING CREEL AND THE CANYON AREA A FAIR SHAKE... I CAN TELL YOU WERE VERY UNCOMFORTABLE... THE BEST TIME TO VISIT IS BETWEEN JULY THROUGH OCTOBER, THE ONLY PLAGUE BEING THE RAIN... BUT THAT ACTUALLY WORKS TOO BECAUSE ALL THE WATERFALLS ARE RUNNIN PRETTY GOOD... MY WIFE & I HAVE A CABIN NOT FAR FROM THE ARCH. I'D RATHER BE IN CREEL THAN THE PHOENIX AREA... AGAIN THANX, YOU COULD HAVE BEEN SNOTTY LIKE THAT ENGLISH VLOGGER WHO CAME AT THE WRONG TIME OF THE YEAR TOO. I INVITED HIM BACK & OFFERED HIM A PLACE AND A PERSONAL GUIDE AND WELL, TO SAY THE LEAST, HE BLEW ME OFF WITH VENGEANCE. PLEASE COME BACK IN THE SUMMER, THANX AGAIN, STAY COOL... PEACE...

I would love it if you could share more of what you learned from the guides that you hired. Also how did you find the guides and how much did they charge?
All of our guides were organized through the different hotels we were staying at. We paid 500 Pesos each to our guide for that hike and for the small tour we did we paid 250 Pesos each. There's just so much to say about the Raramuri it's hard to sum up in a video I felt I wouldn't be able to do it justice.

Best view of the canyon and the Urique river I ever saw was at a place called the Hostal de Oteviachi. Next time make time to visit Basaseachi Falls, but try to go during the rainy season so you can enjoy it in all its splendor.
There is still so much to see in this incredible place that we didn't get a chance to. Most of the waterfalls were all but dried up so it didn't make sense to make the trips out to them but hoping to get back maybe in August or September next year depending on what's happening I suppose. Thanks for the tips though I'll add that hostal to my list!

So when you go on hikes in Copper Canyon is only with a guide? or can visitors just hike trails on their own? Or is hiking with a guide a preference. Are there interesting signs about Coppery Canyon and educational tours?
i have visited solo in copercanyon 9timessince1996i ntook thetrainin al 4sesons.took the train and buses.i amfromwisconsin.definetelyworth going.
It is not 4 times bigger than the Grand Canyon, it is the second largest canyon in the world.

Stunning landscapes! So beautiful! But, wait, what - did you say no beer on Saturday? You threw that out without an explanation. Is that a COVID restriction or ...?
Yea it was a covid thing - at the moment you can only buy alcohol in chihuahua Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I think I mentioned it in an earlier video but yea it was a struggle haha!
Curious - did your guide talk about the wildlife that lives in the area?
Yea some of it, mostly about the trees and plants that are in the different areas of the canyon though.
Do you know why the Adventure Park was closed? Is this a COVID issue, or is it normally closed during the winter months?
It was closed bc chihuahua was in the “red” at the time. It’s green now, so it should be open without any restrictions 👍

I'm getting confused when you mention Mexico because, Mexico is actually named, the United States of Mexico, and consist's of 27 States.
I actually live in Baja California Norte, for 16 years, and have vacationed in many states.

@@laura-bronner thanks, I have been in Chihuahua, it is beautiful. I went up into the mountains via the Cheppe (Train), from Cd. Juarez and stayed at a hotel. the next day I visited the Water falls. And returned to the city, Juarez. I'm told that the train goes south west to the state of Sinaloa, close to Los mochis.
Just today I found out that Guilinai. NY attorney. even with his millions and powerful friends. He would be very eager to breathe that pure and healthy air that you breathe in the copper canyon. well. is that you have followed the advice of health experts. But he made fun of them and did not put on the mask. Now he has to be sorry
THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE COLOR IN THIS CANYON, WHY IS THAT? FID YOU FIND ANGELS OR GIANTS EXISTENCE THERE. ARE THERE DINOSAURS THERE;THAT BRINGS COLOR. IT COULD BE THE SANDS.
