Seeing this cover made me appreciate Geddys playing more on this album. The original release sounded so muddy I had a hard time making out the parts and intricacies in Geddys playing. Absolutely phenomenal. Great job blasting this one out.
I totally agree. I find it almost impossible to even hear what geddys doing on most of the album on the original mix. The 2013 version is so much more listenable to my ear and you get a much better sense of all the awesome little details in his playing. Thanks for watching. Will do a new video tommorrow :)
Oh man, this is sweet. Truly love this album, too. I previously mentioned more Presto tracks. I should also say: more Vapor Trails too, plz! I took a crack at Peaceable Kingdom but I'm still trying to learn flamenco. Anyways, great performance/tone as always. Keep it up!
Thanks for watching! Doing earthshine on one of the next couple of videos. I'm looking forward to doing lots more from vapor trails too because of how much flamenco stuff there is on the album
I was interested to see what you'd make of the ending, it's kind of hard to tell exactly what Geddy's doing so I started just kinda going for it like he does in the snakes and arrows live version. Love how he just starts hammering the shit out of his E string because he didn't want to stop playing, very relatable 😂
Haha yeah well the album outro sounds like several bass tracks simultaneously so i used the live style more. It's quite short on this version though so not masses of time to jam, I just do a couple of 'improvised' open a string bits. Thanks for watching
Man! You are gaining a fan.I remember playing this song live with my band, was very cool! Can I request a song? Also because it will match your playing style a lot. Crossroads - album Feedback
Thanks! I hope I can play it live someday too:). I really like playing rush's crossroads version it's a good song. I think I'll probably stick to rush's original stuff for the foreseeable future though. Maybe when I get through most of the catalogue I'll think about doing crossroads. Thanks for watching
Thanks. I'll keep doing them whether they get a thousand views or zero tbh haha. It's good fun for me. That's great to hear! Probably will do something 70s next
@@jeffanders5263 I've got a lot of requests for that one and have been working on it over the past week or so. I think I'll be ready to do it in a few videos. Still need to do a moog sound for the synth part but that is a final detail to work on :)
I play by-tor quite often. I would like to spend some time learning some of the live versions though, I've never gone through them closely. That's one for the future but I will definitely do it on my channel. Got a lot of requests for Cygnus x-1 so working on that too!
Hey dude. I don't normally keep all the old recordings, just the final videos. Have you ever used moises? What you can do is put the audio into the software and it will separate all the instruments so you can hear them isolated. Its not perfect, but pretty close! Sorry
Thanks! Very pleased to hear that. No nothing in the daw and no extra eq. Just a combination of the 3 bits of gear in my rack. Honestly the ged-2112 is fantastic. I'd never get a sound like this without it
@@hemibass It is definitely an amazing piece of gear, I've got one but I'm still dialing in the sound. I snagged a PDI-05 at a decent price today, so I'm real excited to try that out along with it once it arrives.
@@Delco42 that's awesome congrats. I'm a big fan of the palmer as well. It's always nice when you buy a bit of kit that improves your sound and I think the palmer is pretty important in my setup now. I wouldn't be happy having to go back to before I got mine haha. Let me know what you think of it when you get yours
That's how it's referred to amongst geddy fans (I think based on his description), and it's his signature technique so I think it's as good as any. I called it the 'flicky technique' before I knew about the flamenco name for it :)
This is awesome! Would you mind sending us an isolated track to our web page? We are a new non-prof. platform that will enable Rush fan-musicians to combine their tracks with one another. We are hoping to form a large enough community to attract more attention to the 2112 tribute foundation for glioblastoma research, the deadly disease that took NP from us all too soon. Many Thanks!
Wow! Pretty rare to see Geddy's technique nailed so well.
Thanks for watching. Plenty more flamenco stuff coming :)
He does it… the best I have see.
I've watched this over and over again... The attack and the power is equal to Geddy's.
That's very nice of you to say. He is the master! Thanks for watching
Love it! Vapor trails is one of my favorite Rush albums due to its heavy, emotional nature.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I'll definitely do some more stuff from the album
Agree, for Rush it was a pretty dark album and so emotional. As a bassist I love that Ged went full force with employing chords on that album.

One my favourite albums of Rush's later years. Thank you very much !
Thanks for watching. I think this is one of the best modern rush songs!
the remix version is incredible

Thanks for watching. Much appreciated! And that's very kind of you to say
This is an insanely heavy bass song. Thanks for posting

Thanks. Much appreciated. I have a new one coming in the next few days! Just doing the editing now :)
Dude I just watched again and damn I’d love to jam with you! 🤙🏽😎 my favorite part of playing to RUSH is listening to Ged and Alex, you did great!
Thanks! Really glad you like my channel :)
Such a great song. Nailed it! Like to hear you do the extended outro that Ged played live.
Thanks for watching. We play that version in my tribute band so maybe I'll upload one of our playthroughs sometime
Mate your Geddy Flameco technique is fucking perfect! I have the same Counterpart shirt as well haha
Thanks. Its a technique I enjoy playing a lot. Really fun style. I love this t shirt Haha

I think just on amazon! Search for rush counterparts t shirt or something. Killer show don't tell cover btw

When did Geddy start using that flicking back and forth technique?
Around counterparts era. Early 90s. Thanks for watching
Is the proper term for this technique "flamenco"? Just wondering. Have there been/are there other bassists doing something similar?
