I recently started Jessie's hacks and i need to say it 100% works for me and i have seen so much difference and it's sustainable. I dont feel the need to do push ups after i have a dessert but i do get up snd walk around the house or do chores just to get muscles working or sititng and watching tv and doing the 10 min calve raises. It also never feel hungry and i definitely sleep way better. I had alot of sleep problems waking up multiple times in the night now i sleep through. I have ordered Jessie's book and am excited to read more and follow more hacks..ive been binge watching her videos
I read the whole book last night and you missed 80% of the message. This is one of the easiest diet adjustments I have ever made. She encourages people to eat what they want, what they feel is best for their bodies, eat when you are hungry and until you are full. It is a very empathetic diet and considerate of all - including those with eating disorders, mobility restrictions, and general preferences. All of the hacks are based on real scientific research. And the hacks aren't that hard. In my opinion, a woman with PCOS, and many other health issues that almost require me to give up foods I like for the rest of my life or take lots of medications with many side effects - this method is revolutionary. I can eat things I like again with some pre and post cautions. It's amazing! It's life changing for women like me.

I eat roughly 2000calories per day, and now i just want to maintain my weight without counting calories. I'm afraid that if i go up to 2000 i'll gain weight. It's definitely different for each person but i struggle with food on so many levels, either deny or feast. I am finding this method to be amazing for myself and a daughter who majorly struggles with food.
To me, being a Type 1 diabetic, "healthy" people wearing a CGM smells like eating disorder and OCD ... This Woman probably gets a lot of money from freestyle libre ...
Exactly. I don’t restrict carbs, but we don’t need sugars to survive. I eat a handful of fruit everyday and treats occasionally. Jessie doesn’t demonize glucose, she just lays down the fact.

how is it micromanaging when she's simply suggesting ways how blood sugar can be managed. she doesnt even say to NOT eat sugar but rather, she gives easy ways and alternatives on when to consume it best. her hacks make sense and is very practical and easy to follow. it seems to me that you should be the one doing more research and even help support such an effective and good advocacy. Been following it for a year and it has done wonders for my body. i also lost weight without even trying because my cravings lessened.
Appreciate the counterview to what GG touts. But I have to say, as an adult who is currently in the healthiest place with how I view my body and diet I've ever been, I just took her advice that I heard in an interview and tried it out. I'm losing weight almost without realising and my periods have returned again! For each theory there is someone it will work for. For me it works and due to that alone I will get her book and study it, picking out other tips that could be useful and applying them

Absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence. The issue with nutritional sciences in general is that it the research behind it is historically pretty bad, be it flawed or grossly underpowered studies to horribly abused and misunderstood statistics to animal studies that misrepresent the human condition to, sadly, cases of fraud. Unfortunately, I increasingly find it hard to put much stock in 'what the research says'. Listening to my body and getting personal data be it from a CGM device or whatever is, for me, a much better bet in understanding my health. However, I do agree with your concerns about how some of the way the glucose goddess talks about things and promotes 'hacks' could certainly promote disordered eating.
@@thatirishdietitian she is smart influencers, she tells "eat lot of veggies at every meal, drink water before meal and eat carbs at the end...and walk after every meal" By water and veggies your stomach will be full when is time to eat carbs, walking almost 1 hour at day will make you in calories deficit. So that tricks works also in long term, just isn`t about glucose in blood but tricks that push you to eat less calories and move more.
This video confirmed again why the glucose method works and i shouldn't listen to random people on RUclips 😂 I've never felt better or lose weight so fast (and also keeping it) with such low effort. Because to me the tips from Jessie's book were easier than anything I've ever tried before. And yes, it does work. And i highly doubt it wouldn't work for most people But it's interesting to dismiss a method without even trying
GG has been saving lives, as she does mine. I’ve been struggling with binge eating my whole life but ever since I implemented GG’s methods surprisingly it took turn on my sugar cravings. I’m slowly leaning towards building a healthy relationship with food bcs of her method, for once in life it feels good not to think about food all the time and yet get to eat what I want without the urge to stuffed myself to the brim.
I feel that the important take-home messages of her method are not being properly understood here. The method doesn't require people to monitor everything they eat. No food is ‘off-limits’ It doesn't tell people to do 'push-ups' after eating, the plan advises exercising for 10 minutes after ONE meal a day, within 90 minutes after the end of the meal. People do not have to use glucose monitors to take part in this 4 week plan. Even if I don’t agree with everything she says, the hacks themselves make a lot of sense and clearly (judging by responses and reviews I’ve seen of her books/interviews etc) have been really beneficial for many people. And from what I’ve read in the book itself, I haven’t seen any suggestions that are harmful. Regarding your concern about the way Jesse eats herself. The 4 week method is a way of getting started with improving blood sugar control. She states in the book that not everyone needs to necessarily continue with all of these hacks, it is up to them. I’m reading her book and have seen some interviews but not the ones you mention. I’d be interested in the links so I can understand them in context.
Exactly, when she says to move after eating or eating cakes, it doesn't have to be a full blown aerobic class or push ups, just moving is enough, and if you are at a party you can dance. I actually asked my daughter's endocrinologist who is curing her for PCOS and she said that multiple of her hacks makes sense and works.

Ive followed this method and continued to do so. ive got to say its really reduced my craving for sugar and therefore increased my energy levels. Diet/guidance whatever category it falls under, its working for me 😊

I have PCOS and have been following these hacks for 2 years and my body has undergone a lot of healing. My depression and anxiety symptoms also improved SO much.

"glucose spike" the precious phrase I've ever found out in my life. I hadn't known it for more than 40 years. It'd kind of silently impacted my health badly, but I didn't know it. Now, I've followed her hacks and have enjoyed my life with full of energy through the day. I'm grateful for this exploration on youtube. I'm sure in the future there will be more and more thouroughly convincing scientific proof to support this method.

I bought her book and watched numerous videos and tried it and IT WORKS! I have a even keel of energy all day and don’t feel deprived . Will definitely continue to do this because of my results !
For me, GG method is legit because most of her advice is what I always heard from doctors/nutritionists in Japan. I lived in Japan for 13 years and didn't know I've been unconsciously doing these habits mentioned in GG. Her advice is nothing new if you live in Japan, and it's already a lifestyle in Japan. These habits not stressful at all, didn't count calories, ate savoury breakfast with rice. Japanese diet can easily reach, 2000cal even for women. They ate balance meal without restricting anything. Japanese do a lot of activities like walking or housework after their meal. They also enjoy their desserts in between meals yet remained thin. Eating was enjoyable in Japan. The only huge health problem they have is the impact of drinking beer daily and eating late at night after work. Then, I returned to my country, gain a lot of weight after falling out of habit. I followed so many western diet advice, hired a nutritionist for a year, followed her strict calorie plan, but I couldn't lose weight at all after all that strict monitoring. Ended up being more stressful. For me GG habits is a great way to create the butterfly effect, get motivated, because it's not a huge change compared to keto, paleo or any other diets out there.
It seems like you didn’t really read the book or even took a look at her recipes as well. Attacking her as well without backing up what you state, also taking just one thing and holding strong with it like this push ups part shows how you don’t take full perspective and you seem too aggressive towards it. She does focus on glucose but she also says how much fat and proteins are import and she repeats that throughout the book, and you can’t fight with the fact how much proteins and fats are important and how much harm can excessive sugar intake make. Before doing a video like this next time, try doing more research and getting more perspective yourself.
I could not agree more. I was about to type something just like this. I feel this video has missed Jessie's message completely and is manipulating bits of her work. A result due to ack of research.
It’s like she already read the book biased in her own disagreement with it. I honestly feel like this kind of biochemical knowledge gives us the foundation of how our bodies operate, giving us the autonomy some nutritionist wouldn’t like us to have cause then we wouldn’t need them hahah. I hope more scientists get out there opening the book to society so we are more autonomous on making our health decisions. Nutrition and the way our body works should be public knowledge! It’s also funny how she talks like her method is not backed up by science when Jessie actually based her method on studying all the papers she could find as a scientist herself 😅
The only lesson I learned from the “Glucose Godess” is how to make a ton of money using other people’s work. There is nothing new in her “ studies”. She is a an excellent sales person and nothing more. Obviously if people eat healthier, less calories and move more … they are going to feel better. The human body is miraculous and has a system in place to regulate glucose metabolism. Obviously this system is broken in diabetics and needs some help but she also claims this is powerful for non- diabetics, thus more business for her. She is smart enough to know that the average person can’t afford a continuous glucose monitor and thus- can’t prove or disprove her claims. Obviously a lower sugar diet that incorporates more vegetables will contribute to improved health and wellbeing- this is not ground breaking research. Her hacks are old news and common sense. What she is selling is an image. Basically this diet results in less calorie consumption- if you eat your veggies first- you will naturally take in less calories. We have heard a million times that high sugar breakfast leads to empty calories- causing fatigue and more food cravings. Increase movement leads to an uptake of glucose- again- old news. Exercise of any kind increases calories burned, increases endorphins and leads to weight loss and improved mood and motivation to move more. Don’t get me started on the vinegar…… this apple cider “ hack” has been highly researched and there is a ton of old literature to suggest this may have an impact on weight loss. They make apple cider vinegar pills for Gods sake. Just because she takes a pile of old research and common sense practices and wraps them up into a fancy package called “ the method” doesn’t make her a genius. She prays on the sick and desperate like every other “ diet” guru. When people are fatigued due to poor health and see her perfect body and perfect skin and energetic sales pitch they will do just about anything to try and achieve the image she is selling them. She is barely 30 years old, physically healthy and could literally sell anything to anyone. That being said - I don’t think the “ method” is unhealthy as this review suggests. In fact - it is very healthy especially when compared to most people’s current eating habits. Savory breakfast will almost always result in a more nutritious, lower calorie, higher protein start to the day. I’m just saying there is absolutely nothing new or earth shattering here. All she has done is summarized a pile of well established research and wrapped it up with a bow added her attractive looks and marketed it as something unique. She might be a genius but it’s not for the reasons you think. I already eat like this for the most part. The vinegar isn’t for me - its effect is marginal and mostly placebo making the user feel like they are accomplishing something. Like they have found a “ hack” when really they are just eating less, more nutrient dense foods and moving more like we all should already be doing. If you need a “ method” to get motivated then go ahead but you do not need to purchase anything special or make her recipes. Filling up on bread before your meal …. There is no glucose crash 45 minutes later in healthy individuals. We all know most people will eat the entire meal that they ordered as many of us were raised in the clean your plate generations. Saving the bread until last just means you will eat less over all because it was free and not part of your plate and if you are full ( mostly from all the vegetables she had you eat first) you will be more inclined to leave the bread behind. Who doesn’t know that grapes are very high up on the glycemic index? These “ tips” are not only things we already know - they are just extractions from other diets and research documented in the 90’s. Don’t get sucked in to the image she is selling. She very intentionally continually asks viewers to really look at the photography in her recipe book - to pay attention to its “ artistic” value. All of those photos are intentionally made to look as seductive and suggestive as possible. She isn’t selling healthy desert recipes. She is selling sex appeal. I don’t actually have a problem with any of this. I just want people to take a closer look at what her method really is before they throw their hard earned money at her and then blame themselves when they don’t end up with the sexy, glowing image she is selling. It’s marketing, marketing and more marketing. She is indeed young and beautiful but I highly doubt that her motivation was to help people. You already know this information! You already have these tools in your brain- forget the hype. Just dig deep and use them. You are worth it.

I read the first book, implemented her tips as I could (which is what she recommends), and I no longer have dizzy spells after I eat, the 2 weeks I had a CGM on backed up that the tips did in fact work on my glucose spikes. It does. I haven't lost weight, but cravings are gone and moods are more stabilized. And it has helped hormone related symptoms. No issues with disordered eating as I already had that from histamine intolerance.... with 1 of my root causes being PCOS from insulin resistance. Maybe you should actually try some of these things before you say they are crap. It might help your patients to know they have multiple options that can help. Shoot, the time I tried medically managed weight loss with a dietician and my doctor was the first time I started binge eating in a regular way. The thing you seem to miss about the programs you dislike sp much is that they give people hope. I think at least most of us are willing to try a few tips and shrug it off if it doesn't work... but as it turned out, It worked, and I bought the book. And read it in 2 days. Even switched doctors and sought help because the one I had didn't want to look into the hormone issues I was having unless I was trying to conceive or was past menopause. I sincerely hope you find peace and hope in your life. The rest of us are..... and I firmly believe you can too.
This was a interesting counter take on this. I'm curious as to your thoughts on 1. eating a savory breakfast over eating a more traditional western breakfast that is high in carbs and sugars- cereal, toast, bagels... 2. eating veggies with every mean and eating your veggies or fiber first 3. the vinegar - this one is kind of questionable, I'll give you that, 4. walking or exercising after meals?? Pretty much all 4 of these things follow pretty closely to what is commonly found in the Mediterranean diet/lifestyle, which arguably is touted as the healthiest lifestyle/diet. They tend to eat more savory breakfasts, consume lots of veggies, use vinegar regularly in their cooking and are more active than most other western cultures. So is it the information that is bad and you disagree with it or is it the package it is presented in that you disagree with? At the end of the day from the 10,000 ft view it doesn't seem that far off from what most nutrition experts I've read about or listen to have recommended. Avoid processed grains/refined carbs and added sugar, base meals around lean proteins, consume more fiber daily, and eat more veggies and fruits
Keeping blood glucose at a range in your blood that your body wants cannot be a fad - the diet we had all the way up to the mid seventies saw very few people with weight issues - take a look at beach photos from that era for the proof. The changes to food production and how sucrose is now made together with the introduction of seed oils has led to an obesity epidemic. Think her tips are spot on and will make a positive difference for thousands of people.
@simongarner5340 Sir, if one abuses his body with excess sugar (your body can safely tolerate only one teaspoonful of sugar at any given point of time) and by enjoying processed foods till one fine morning he finds his body can't cope any more and he is diabetic. Monitoring blood glucose will not yield any result and one becomes slave to the eating habits as your lectin's feeble voice would by then be overpowered by ghrelin hormone. Prediabetes is a long period and food industry are always ready to fool the mass through such controversies confusing the people. did you notice that this learned channel is advocating against someone (for whom the beneficiaries are voicing their personal experiences and testifies the benefits, see the comments) but you can't find any superior advice here . Only criticism and no better advice doesn't earn people's trust. Sugar and diabetes industry is far more powerful than we can even think of. There are several trustworthy Dieticians and scientists who research constantly on macronutrients and eating habits, foods which our bodies are adapted to guided by our hormones working according to our genetic codes. But these scientists and nutritionists are not vocal and never misleading online. On the contrary if you are lucky to come across their interviews sometimes you'd find them explaining the basics and educate us. My periods stopped for seven months, four weeks after implementing some of the GG hacks to control my glucose spikes and my period is back, not to mention no longer having energy peaks and troughs throughout the day - same level of energy all the time. I agree that some of her discussion could be more careful in terms of encouraging disordered eating behaviour, though. I’m incorporating the method as part of a plan I’m working through with a certified dietitian to heal from disordered eating.

@@msrislammylife I learned about her method while working with a health coach for disordered eating and she’s specialised in EDs and loves the GG method. If you have a health coach, nutritionist or therapist, it’s worth discussing this with them because there are four main “rules” in the method which could trigger certain thought patterns or behaviours in people recovering from an ED. However, if you take the “rules” as general guidelines and understand that it’s okay if you don’t do them all all the time, which she herself emphasises in her second book - they’re designed as useful guidelines not strict “rules” - you’ll be fine! It’s really up to you to decide whether this is the kind of useful, positive structure you’d like when it comes to your relationship to food. It’s less about what you eat than when you eat it, to be honest, and that alone just changes how your body feels. Use your judgment and discuss it with a professional if you’re unsure! It’s so hard because you need some structure to overcome an ED but too rigid a structure and you’re at risk of falling back into strict food “rules”, and all the self-recrimination that comes with it. Well done for getting to where you are and I wish you lots of strength and success as you continue to recover ❤️❤️
@@dwinaliem8170 I’m so sorry! I didn’t see this reply until now! For me, rigid meal plans and timetables don’t work; I find them too stressful and restrictive. But if that’s something you would benefit from, absolutely give it a go! The GG method gives you general tools that you can incorporate into your approach to eating (1. savoury breakfast 2. vinegar once a day, preferably before your biggest meal, 3. veggie starter before your biggest meal and 4. movement after eating, preferably your biggest meal). So you can combine that with intermittent fasting, with your work schedule, with meal plans etc. It’s super flexible! Pick whichever principle you think you’ll be able to incorporate most easily and do that for a bit, then add the others as you go, one by one, until they become instinctive 😊 I hope that helps!

Keith Floyd British celebrity cook said in the 1980s use apple cider vinegar before any meal and it will help lower your blood sugar level my point is a lot of the information that she gives does work .
Have you tried her method for 4 weeks? I don’t think you have, don’t knock it until you try it. You’re not speaking from a personal experience of trying the method. You would also have to keep track of your glucose levels .
Yah - it doesn't look like she even tried lol - and even what she's doing now is probably not working also because she looks chubby but if she was bigger before than I guess she's good - but the ultimate goal will be to bring all your health markers into the good range and feel emotional good - because she started that she's a dietitian she feels that she knows more than everyone - yah she's one those know it all's lol
Science isn’t based on personal experiencias, is based on evidence. So if you don’t grasp the importance of good quality research and methods in science, I advise to don’t put your ignorance in this matter in manifest.
I have been following the advice of Jessie Inchauspe for three weeks and with some very minor adjustments I have seen amazing results! In addition to lowering my blood sugar to normal levels, I have lost 9lbs, I am able to get a full night's sleep, rather than being awake half the night, I feel much better and energized and I don't see any negatives. I view her comments about doing push-ups after eating a piece of cake lightheartedly as I'm sure she intended, but in my case, following a snack, I use the opportunity to do some physio rehab exercises for an injured knee. So, I have adapted her supposedly silly suggestion into a practical application...and it gets the desired results in limiting the glucose spike. Furthermore, while her study wasn't a scientific paper, which she readily admits, her stated results are very similar to my experience and most of the replies that I have read following your dismissal of her work. Very disappointed in your review!
No I don’t Agree with you! Nothing negative of eating less sweets and sugar or moving a little bit after eating dessert!! And no it’s not a diet because it doesn’t tell you what to eat or not eat it just give us very useful easy tips/hacks to think more about the negative impact of glucose!! You are just jealous…
Glucose is only harmful to your body if you have a diagnosed medical condition like diabetes or insulin resistance. Even for people in this group I wouldn’t recommend her work.

I had been suffering from bloating, abdominal pain and constant hunger for years. I needed to eat 7-8 times per day and I still felt hungry up until a month ago when I accidentally bumped into Jessie's video on RUclips. On the very first day of trying 1.drinking diluted vinegar, 2.eating savoury (protein based) breakfast, 3.keeping the order: salad, protein, carbs ALL my problems disappeared. I thought, it must have been a coincidence, then another day passed then a whole week and up until today I have been feeling great without any of the above mentioned symptoms. Seriously, I do not care whether the actions I have taken (the 10 hacks available free of charge on a piece of A4 paper) are called a diet or not, as they work wonders. I would suggest that instead of criticizing it from a theoretical point of view, one should try it to see if it works. And if it does, why not recommend it to one's own clients to help some people. It isn't restrictive in any ways, as one can eat everything, what matters is the order. I have never come across a diet (if we want to call it a diet) easier to implement than this way of eating. By the way, I didn't intend to lose weight, in fact I wanted to put on weight which I didn't manage to do contrary to the fact that I ate more than anyone else in the family. So now I feel totally liberated that I don't have the urge to eat every two hours. And I am thankful to Jessie for it.

Would it hurt if you keep an open mind, try the method yourself, and have your bloodwork done. Or better, take a baseline bloodwork, try it for 12 weeks, and have your bloodwork done again. What is your current HOMA-IR?
You are misrepresenting what the GG says. She doesn't tell you what to eat. Just the order to eat them and add some vinegar. Simple! Also, people eat 100X the amount of sugar vs a century ago.
I'm here because I wanted to answer your question... Yes, the method is legit. It works great for me, and I certainly wouldn't call it dieting. In fact, my actual diet hasn't changed at all, only the order and timing of my food intake. I have always eaten a balanced diet, and I'm perfectly healthy in every way. Fit and healthy and very active in my day to day and I also run marathons throughout the year for enjoyment. However, in the past, I've always struggled a bit with the highs and lows of my blood sugar. Even though I'm eating mostly low GI foods, I would still have low blood sugar crashes if I didn't eat at the right time. Also, you don't need to have specific studies done on this so called "method" The facts on how the human body uses and absorbs glucose is very well known, and because they are already "facts" we don't need to question it. The simple hacks she describes are just to help slow the absorption of glucose and also to use them at the correct times so you don't have a glucose overload. You're supposedly a dietician? I would've thought you'd be able to understand why this so called "method" would work. You're stating that this can incourage eating disorders? You clearly have no idea if you believe this. Eating disorders are mainly caused from poor metal health/self image disorders ect. You criticised the comment "doing push-ups right before or after a piece of cake". This can perfectly explained by the facts on how muscles use glucose. It's just a simple hack that outlines the importance of when we can use up those excess glucose, this is also backed by sports science. Obviously, simple carbs should be avoided at all cost, but sometimes, you need to have that piece of bithday cake, otherwise you may offend people, this could ruin your social life.
The point is to not worry as much. If it becomes your culture to often eat a veggie starter, it’s not worrisome. Our culture clearly got the order wrong with sugary breakfast being promoted as healthy. That’s worrisome.
@@RachelRiner But recommending to pick apart meals and eating in a certain order is disordered. You shouldn't have to worry about what order you eat your main meals in. Sugary breakfasts on their own aren't healthy but can be incorporated into a healthy diet if people chose to eat them.

You just eat it as normal but the combination of the 3 just makes your glucose spike overall lower.... that's what I have noticed when eating something like a pasta.

Nobody is saying you should pick apart you stir frys. 😆 If you're already eating a good balanced diet, then there's no real problem, however, the GG methods just help stabilise daily blood glucose levels better. They're just useful hacks around eating certain foods. Example, eat that plate of leafy greens before that dinner roll or potatoes. It's the order of that food those food groups that helps. Obviously it won't be convenient in all situations, that's why she says don't stress. And yeah, we all need carbs, especially if you're physically active, however it's important not to choose the wrong type at the wrong time, not taking about potatoes, I'm talking about pure sugar, that has no nutritional value, eg. Coca-Cola, soft drinks, cakes, lollies ect. Humans don't need this, they're not natural, but who can resist the odd bit here and there ay, just don't eat them on an empty stomach, or you'll crash and burn. Lol I think you need to learn more about nutrition if you don't know the difference between simple and complex carbs.😮
Suffering from cravings and dips in blood suger through out my whole life, I just need to say, that eating the greens first, has done everything for me! I'm not hungry between meals - and chocolate does not enter the building ;). Agree on the various issues adressed here, but eating greens first is not really a problem, is it?
I started the GG method on May 10, 2024. It is July 11 today, 2 months and 1 day later. I am down 16lbs. My BMI went from 35.5 to 33.3. My basal metabolic rate went from 1940 cal. to 1876 cal. My muscle mass went from 160 to 164 lbs. Body fat from 36% to 31.1%. So you can pontificate and criticize all you want, but this shit works. Ask yourself WHY a medication for people with diabetes is helping people without diabetes to lose weight??
Why would you discourage people from making minor lifestyle changes that could have major effects on their mental and physical well being? Pretty gross thing to do. Many of her hacks have been widely studied and proven even if it doesn’t have her name attached to it.
Exactly, I agree on that. In a lot of cultures these hacks have been used for thousands of years. But I do think that through the GG method it has gotten some traction and more mainstream.
I always appreciate another view, and while I might agree with your take on the vulnerabilities of GG’s work, it definitely fits a pattern around our awareness around the foods we eat. The Standard American Diet (SAD) is a killer, driven by money - that’s clear to me. You mention we don’t know what causes diabetes, but we definitely know obesity and poor dietary health is ravaging our population. Sugar, starch and processed food intake is at the core. The problem is that folks doing your work tend to follow research studies primarily, until of course the studies are proven wrong. It seems to be more about research than anything else. The problem with research is that it doesn’t tell the whole story, and heavy reliance on it often misses valuable points. Anecdotal evidence has value too. And the reality is that it has more of an immediate effect on people than research. Therefore it’s actually more powerful. I mean, need I point out the fallacy of the fat-free research of the 1980s? I am a type 2 diabetic, with a continuous glucose monitor. While my experience noting how which foods, and the order in which I eat them, or what I combine them with affects my BG is anecdotal, my life is also anecdotal. I consume all the information out there, including that from folks like you. I then experiment coupling it with my own experience. GG’s work matches a pattern of common concepts around the crap we eat. Like your work, it has value. I take all of it in, and apply what I find works for me. Finally, I notice you seem to have a focus on eating disorders and disordered eating. That’s awesome. But I’m not sure how this factors into your objectivity on a topic like this. Is it possible that you, like many others, have bastardized the word diet due to your work with this population? Clinicians have a tendency to get wrapped up in labels, become inappropriately inclusive, and jump to conclusions that are counter to a holistic approach and which fail to focus on general wellness. This discussion seems to miss the real point: Is leveling out glucose spikes helpful or harmful to the body? Since a lot of people are advised to wear a glucose monitor, it would appear that the medical community thinks spikes are harmful. I have no health issues other than age, have plenty of energy and maintain a normal weight with portion control, so I have wondered whether implementing Jessie's hacks would be valuable for me. Then I realized that I already eat mostly that way already, and maybe that is why I am healthy at nearly 90. A savory breakfast, lots of veggies, salad first with vinaigrette dressing. I am just missing the walk after dinner, but maybe doing the dishes counts.
When I try to decide on which doctors or experts to consider following, I ask myself a few questions. Does this expert: 1. Look like an image of health 2. Is at an ideal healthy weight themselves 3. Offer something practical. For the glucose godess, all three are a yes.

glucose goddess method is not a diet for weight loss. it's said very clearly in her interviews. it only offers some healthy tips to eat and reduce glucose increase but that does not mean that if u eat a salad 1st and then eat 2 chocolates, you can expect to lose weight and not gain calories at all. That is not at all the message.
I don’t follow the Glucose Goddess, but a long time ago, I dealt with some issues and ended up doing something similar to what she now suggests (actually, I did it even more strictly than her recommendations). Since then, my body feels amazing. I look a lot younger than people my age; many say I look 25-26 at most, even though I’m 37. I also get regular check-ups with my GP every 6-12 months (even my GP start learn how I eat and start to tell my story to another patient of him), and everything comes back great. I haven’t been sick in 5-6 years, and I’ve never had COVID. My severe hay fever is mostly gone. In the past, I had bad symptoms like a runny nose and often needed to use a steroid spray, but nowadays, it only shows up as an itchy nose in the morning and then disappears. Your method approach to use measure her method also seems outdated ( who is the one who set up that guideline to tell you that method that tell people what to eat is bad, I only see the person who do that is the one who only want to eat whatever they want, lol), focusing on making people feel better about eating whatever they want. Many people need guidance on what to eat. If you’re a dietitian and can’t provide clear dietary advice, perhaps it’s time to reconsider your role. Most people with health issues want someone to tell them what to do because they don’t have enough knowledge about nutrition. I’m not a dietitian, but I’ve worked as a chef for over 15 years, dealing with food and ingredients every day. I’ve gained a lot of knowledge-like how many carbs, fibre, or fat are in different vegetables or meats, and which ones are rich in different type of essential vitamins and mineral like magnesium or potassium. So, I can confidently say that the Glucose Goddess offers valuable advice that people should be aware of and consider adapting into their diet. Lastly, if our generation had more dietitians like the Glucose Goddess, rather than those who follow the outdated methods and oppose her approach, we could better combat the rising rates of diabetes and obesity. It’s clear that the dietitians who stick to old methods aren’t able to solve the problem, as these issues continue to increase. Not only that, but they also use these outdated methods to argue against hers, as if they don’t want their failing approach to disappear.
Weight inclusive is a catch phrase for the last few years that says being big can be healthy which is false. Just because people are big and do not currently have metabolic issues doesn't mean that their weight is not working on having them in the near future. If they don't have issues they should count their blessings and work hard to get out of the danger zone. This business of saying everything is fat shaming is utterly ridiculous.

Sorry but your view of Jessie Inchauspe’s information is way off the mark. Example, she said if she was at a party and was going to eat a piece of cake which she knows will spike her glucose since she has an empty stomach. What does she suggest? Do some quick exercise so when she eats the carbs, her muscles use them immediately due to the exercise. You interpret that intelligent hack, based on solid science, as encouraging eating disorder behaviors (!) Your entire review is filled with this nonsense. Encouraging physical activity as part of a healthier lifestyle is not an eating disorder behavior. People are going to eat a slice of cake at parties. Why not be intelligent about it. Are you going to tell someone not eat the cake? Fine, she didn’t recommend a person eat the cake at all. She used herself as an example and explained what she would do to blunt the carb effect. So instead of falling off the wagon and feeling guilty, a person knows they can take control and with some healthy physical activity, prove to themselves they are consciously addressing the situation. Thinking of doing excercises at a Party because of eating a piece of cake is NOT healthy, it leads to disordered eating. I have Type 1 Diabetes and had to micromanage my glucose all my life - and it easily leads to disordered eating, this i backed up by a lot of studies. So If you have a fully working pancreas, just don't do it ...

I just watched a few of Jessie’s interviews after your comments, and whether or not I agree with her ideas, she repeatedly states that these are hacks that can be tried to see how you get on and NOT rigidly to be obsessed about. She accepts the fact that restrictions such as amounts to eat, calorie restriction etc are not necessary and are unsustainable long term (we’ve all been there). Your claims in this video are disingenuous and misleading. I do agree that her ideas (actually Dr Robert Lustig has promoted similar for years) should be based on rigorous evidence based research. However, she herself also states that more study is needed over time and to get the money needed for that is almost impossible.
Diet refers to what is actually eaten, not just a specific range of foods eaten. Intermittent fasting and keto diets are restrictive. I'm sure they can lead to disordered eating too.

I am also a believer of Jesse. I am a diabetic and I incorporated her hacks and it lowered my sugar plus my weight which had been stack is now going down too. How can you say that Jesse's hacks does not have scientifics basis, she is a biochemist and had studied everything about it. Actually I have heard already about the veggie starter and vinegar on other blog. Plus before I even heard about Jessee I notice that if I sprinkle ground peanuts on my cake it dont have much spike plus it is more delicious.
I agree with you in that she doesn’t provide scientific evidence however, I am surprised you claim that people who don’t have insuline resistance or diabetes shouldn’t have to worry about their glucose as their body takes care of it…you also claim we don’t know what triggers insulin resistance or diabetes, what if it is glucose? I think perhaps glucose might be to blame, we do eat a lot more glucose than we used to…I know it’s anecdotal but cutting down on glucose is not a bad thing. Look at how much obesity there is in countries that consume more glucose compared to some that don’t.
Blood sugar (glucose levels) is not the same as consuming added sugar. Rice, pasta, potatoes, sweet potatoes, lentils, chickpeas etc all raise our blood glucose levels and are perfectly healthy. She explains at the beginning how insulin brings the sugar from our blood to our muscles and brain, thats how we can function 😊 some foods raise our blood glucose levels faster/longer than others. GG says it's a problem even for healthy people and thats the whole debate

Weight-inclusive nutrition is an approach to nutrition counseling that purports to focus on access to respectful and equitable care regardless of size based on evidence. It offers nutritional advice that isn’t simplistically centered solely around weight loss. In theory it can be very useful for people recovering from eating disorders, athletes, and certain metabolic conditions. It also makes sure not to assume that someone is eating healthy just because they are lean. The problem is that, at least in my experience, many of them cater so much to people with eating disorders that they overcorrect and don’t actually provide much help for healthy and sustainable weight loss, even when it’s clearly necessary for health. They go so far to avoid fatphobia and push intuitive eating that sometimes it clouds their ability to understand and meet their client’s unique needs. For example, I have PCOS and have insulin resistance and nutrient deficiencies that caused me to lose control of my weight very suddenly and rapidly, which in turn caused me to develop injuries to my feet and knees as a runner because my muscles weren’t properly conditioned for my excess weight. I have seen 3 different RDs for this issue, including 2 weight inclusive RDs. The first RD didn’t know much about PCOS and just insisted that I eat only 1200 calories a day (1300 on the days I went out running) because a simple calorie deficit would cause me to lose weight quickly and supposedly improve my sensitivity to insulin. That was NOT sustainable for me, I was constantly in a fog and couldn’t keep up running. My PCOS symptoms actually got worse and I did lose weight but I’m pretty sure some of it was muscle. The second RD I saw was weight inclusive, and she actually did teach me to care more about incorporating certain macronutrients like protein and healthy fats, which helped my PCOS symptoms and athletic performance a lot. She also taught me about probiotics and anti-inflammatory foods which was super helpful. But she INSISTED I do intuitive eating and learn to listen to my body to figure out how much to eat, and I actually gained weight because of this. As you can imagine was very distressing for my joints, I actually needed almost a year of physical therapy and still have plantar fasciitis issues to this day. Turns out my insulin resistance made it very difficult to eat intuitively because the main side effect is uncontrolled hunger and sweets cravings. I asked about this and my RD was almost allergic to discussions about cutting carbs or calories. Even though my therapist assured me I wasn’t suffering from an eating disorder or internalized fatphobia, my RD insinuated I was simply because I was skeptical of intuitive eating and unhappy to have gained more weight. I ended up switching to another weight inclusive RD (with great trepidation) who was thankfully less obsessed with intuitive eating and not totally paranoid about EDs. She was the one that validated my need to count calories but without being so extreme as the first RD. And it turns out I just need a small calorie deficit paired with high protein to boost my muscle, burn fat, and manage my PCOS symptoms. She actually knew about PCOS nutrition research AND athletic nutrition in depth, and she seemed to understand that just because I avoid high-glycemic carbs and follow glucose goddess hacks because it relieves my PCOS symptoms doesn’t mean I have an eating disorder. Ultimately I do agree in theory with the concept of weight inclusive dietitians, but some of them REALLY seem to miss the mark in an attempt to avoid fatphobia and/or avoid provoking eating disorders. The right one will be better with nuance, but it was hard to find.
I think glucose goddess is 100% legit in my opinion . Now I eat much more foods that love but in a correct order and I don’t feel bad or gain any weight . That’s the success of Glucose Goddess 😎
You seem to miss the entire point and taking some of the comments she makes way too literal. Doing pushups at a party after eating a sugary treat is an example of that. She has many more serious videos as well as many casual conversations where she says things like you reference. I would invite you to do more research on this method instead of poo pooing on it.
I don't claim to know more than an Irish dietician, all I know is my own anecdotal evidence. If something make you feel better overall, exhibit more mental clarity, and reduced A1C level, and experience an apparent reduction in inflammation (visible reduction in redness, flaking, itching, etc), why not continue? Nothing else has worked for me except this method (so far). I'm not saying I'll religiously follow every single one of the 'hacks' every single day! That would be a bit extreme. However, when it comes to continuing along this lifestyle path because of the benefits mentioned above, yep, I'll keep going. Thanks for your POV though.

You convinced me that it's good to be skeptical of the glucose goddess. The part about how she skips breakfast was news to me. In the mediterranean diet we're also told to be active after eating. Isn't a lot of her advice just old fashioned common sense packaged inside the language of wellness?
I totally agree with this Irish dietician. Thank goodness to hear some discussion about Jessie Inchauspe. My first thought on her method was, and the question is fundamental, are these glucose spikes really so harmful for someone without diabetes? Out of interest I am trying out some of her hacks. Eating less sugar always decreases your sugar cravings - so that’s good. I am enjoying only eating between 10am and 6pm (intermittent fasting) I am trying harder to walk 10,000 steps per day. The biggest behaviour change I am implementing is asking myself « are you truly hungry? » and often the answer is « no ». So yes, I have lost some weight, but I do think it is all a bit daft, and scientifically woolly. She talks about deconstructing a sandwich so you eat the veggies first, then the cheese/ham and then the bread. Sorry, but the greatest enjoyment of food is eating the different groups all at the same time. I will increase the vegetables I eat, increase activity, decrease my eating « window », and cut out processed sugar items whilst allowing myself fruit. Basically there is nothing new in my regime!
Nice overview. Your points make sense, I am tired how every second month we find someone with the secret to healthy life. The secret has been known for a long time: consistency in a varied and slight calorie restricted diet, sport and social interactions.
I don’t think you have this right at all and do not understand what she is proposing. I am prediabetic and have been following it for several months with great success at many levels and it makes eating fun and manageable for me. Several other diabetic specialist doctors pretty much agree with this approach. It is a way of eating, not a diet in my opinion. She provides ten hacks, not 4 BTW. You don’t do all at once! Push-ups? Not sure where that is coming from. She says that one option is to do calf flexes with ankle raises when you can’t go for a walk, but would like too. I am not impressed with your snotty approach. Too many dietitians and naturopaths push people into outrageous extremes and takes away their freedoms with food, which many times ruins their health. I have seen it too many times. There is nothing EXTREME about G.G. Approach. This is a mentally healthy approach to healthy eating. Nope, you are wrong and have looked at this with the plan to discount it. If you’re looking for a diet to lose weight it’s no longer nutrition. This is nutrition to be healthier not skinnier. Exercise anywhere at any time is not a bad thing. Your advice is dangerous to diabetics. She is helping me live a better life while dealing with a hypo active thyroid and insulin resistance. Not a diet … a lifestyle.
Jesse aims for insulin/glucose management.. Not weight manangemnt... Because above all onsulin management is the most important aspect to fcus on.. Because if u happen to mange insulin n glucose spike.. Everything will come into place.. U will get this if u dont have brain fog

I am always baffled when i see "healthy" people doing that volontarily and also seeing healthy people wear a CGM ... Whyyyyyy? Really, just dont eat too much sgar, no fuzzy drinks and then enjoy your life!!!
6:00 having a little movement after eating sugar can cause eating disorder??? She is talking about calling a friend to have a short walk, this sounds so healthy to me. Eating lota of sugar and sitting down on a sofa sounds way worse. I’ve got eating disorder and it came mainly from the glucose sparks she talks about! Being a biochemist, isn’t it the fundamental knowledge for nutrition to actually be possible? I mean, she could understand deep down to how our cells act and react, can it be deeper than that? I looove her tip, I’ve been dealing with all the symptoms she mentioned and I’m gonna be testing her method for sure. And last: I don’t think she is focusing on micromanaging one aspect of eating habits, it’s focusing on a molecule that impacts the whole body, how it impacts and what are some simple steps to improve how this molecule works. If she was focusing on let’s say C vitamin levels, alright, but it’s nit the case. And finally: that’s exactly her point: the amount of glucose we get from the foods we have nowadays it’s NOT NATURAL, and it isn’t. Nature didn’t predict us manipulating food in order to get the finest sugar like we did, and our bodies are not able to process that “naturally” as we can see in the long run with obesity and diabetes increasing so much! Though, I agree she could be more careful with her writing. But I understand: it’s dangerous when someone is trying to give people such a fundamental knowledge causing them to having autonomy to decide what to eat based on biochemical reactions rather than being dependent on a nutritionist to do so.
I am not prediabetic but I noticed a big difference within 2-3 days of doing her hacks. More energy & better sleep! My cholesterol came down 15 points & Tryglcerides came down 26 points in 9 months. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least!
Her tricks are well know from years in Italy. You eat too much pasta and bread and become fat and sleepy after lunch. So when we need to do some heavy works after lunch we give up to eat pasta and et some light stuff that depend on people. Also if you wanna loose weight in easy way we eat salada, meat/fish/egg and after pasta giving up bread. If you do this (exactly how she tell in book) you will loose weight not because of glucose level but because you get your stomach full of veggies and when will eat pasta you will eat few or nothing. Is a very old basic trick. Also the trick of vineager in water...you fiil your stomach with water so means less space for food, isn`t that vineager will eat carbs, is that you will eat less carbs. I can assure that if you eat a lot of vegs and less carbs you will loose weight...of course. About her trick of walking after meal...you eat 3 times at day without snack, if you walk 15 mins after every meal you will walk 45mins...so what is new?? but she tells that you will loose weight NOT because you walk every day almost 1 hour but because your muscle will burn the glucose in your blood after you eat. Isn`t aboout glucose, is about you are moving.
You only need 4g of glucose in the blood at any time - the body will happily make it's own without needing to eat it - it makes sense to not flood the bloodstream with glucose which will end up storing as fat - everyones aim should be to attain stable blood glucose levels
Correct! Your liver can convert protein or fat into glucose if need be and one doesn't need to consume copious quantities of carbohydrates. Pick your carbohydrates carefully and all will be good.
Just wanted to say, that i live in France, she is criticized here too, because she creates lot of anxiety around food. There are some french doctors who are against this method.
Have to agree with the criticism of Aoifes comments. She follows conservative dietary conventions. Understandable given her training. However, the reality is that " conventional" dietary beliefs are , like so many things, constantly changing. Remember the "food pyramid" diagram? In a western food convenience, the reality is that the structure no longer suits our lifestyles. This is not to say the types of food are bad, but the structural emphasis is no longer valid.. The evidence is that too much carbohydrates is damaging to our bodies. We need more fresh fruits and vegetables, less processed foods and more fibre. We can get these things without the obsolete food pyramid- that is, we need to change the food types order. We understand that fibre is filling, changes the grehlin factor. We need to satisfy our body needs with good foods first, and then, if we want, finish with something sweet. Jessies suggestions just change the order of types of food. It doesnt mean you can't have different foods together just eat them in an order which enables the body to digest, and digest slower- thus reducing the glucose spike size. Jessie is not saying the spike is bad, but that the size and frequency of spikes is related to pre- diabetic states. Aoife fails to clearly define this problem which contributes to around 50% of Americans, for instance, being prediabetic or diabetic. She, like all dieticians in the western world, should be fo ussed on healthy dietary regimes, and decreasing the diabetic epidemic that is hitting the west. Jessies recommendations are not a DIET fad. Hacks are not bad- we employ many hacks to ease our way through the world we live . DIET implies weight- loss- we should be thinking about lifestyle choices/ healthy food habits. Jessies ideas are not just another FAD. Science is contantly informing us about dietary research informing us about ourselves. Look how the science of intermittent fasting is educating us about constant food consumption, its effect on constant blood sugar/ insulin levels. Conservative criticism liks Aoifes comments is a reaction to this constant updating of scientific knowledge and how we should use that information. Sure, there are fads out there- anyone rsmember the Israeli Army diet?. Yes, we should be aware- science informs us. All Jessie has done is give us a better understanding of science and research findings. Fibre fills and satisfies our hunger. Its better to feed youself with good good choices then treat ourselves afterwards rather than up first. Finally Jessies food order is not restrictive, nor does it have to be followed in every meal. For instance my breakfast begins with greek yoghurt followed by fruit then tea and whole- grain toast -as one example. Other days I may only have fruit depending on how I feel. My lunch may follow her suggestions- I feel more like eating vegetables and protein at lunch. Dinner is usually salad and some protein/ carbohydrate early in the evening.. There is no unbreakable rule and no one food regime fits all. Use the science, consult reliable sources, particularly in medical science- the Mayo Clinic is my first stop if I need to know anything in general medicine. Above all- eat sensibly, not frequently, exercise body and mind, get good sleep and hydrate. Keep sugar and salt to a minimum. Walk often- it is good for mind and body. Be cautious. Life is a journey. Enjoy it, despite its ups and downs. Life is a gift.
Someone just mentioned using the Glucose Goddess' methods. I didn't know the name but I saw an interview with her and she said nothing worth hearing that I hadn't already sussed out on my own. Which is to say, I already know if I eat something that causes me to feel more energetic it's a good idea to dance or get some work done. And, I lost a great deal of weight before by primarily just beginning each meal with a 1/2 or whole grapefruit OR salad or a vegetable dish, then moved on to eating a meal that i fit as much vegetables as I could into. And, I have never been one for eating a sweet breakfast if I could help it. Unless it is fruit, that is. That was long before I knew she existed. It wasn't enough. I tried using ACV and POM vinegar, white vinegar and rice vinegar. Having a little vinegar for flavor helps cut out some cravings, sometimes, but that's all the joy I got from it. I am just not sure how she is a "Goddess" and people think that she came up with something unique. She basically, as far as I can tell, cobbled together a little Natural Hygiene with some Chinese history.
All the books out there say nothing new. But it’s how people can relay information and how people interpret it that makes it “powerful”. Just like movies - how many rom coms are out there? A lot. But some impact you more bc the story is great. Same with books and information.
And I for one don’t know much chinese history, so if that is what she researched and presented to me in 2024, than I thank her for doing what I did not know about or want to do.
GG may looks good for people in all these positive comments. But for me the biggest trigger and doubt was that her “research results” were just her words and some numbers. That is not a research!!!!! Totally agree with this video! But this “method” could of course make some people happy and they feel their body better or something. Good for them.
If you look at the info on her RUclips videos (click on the title) she references the studies that back up her claims. And her method is solid as evidenced by the experience of myself and millions of others.

I just stumbled upon this video and something stroke me, she says she would not recommend the GG plan to none of her clients. Could it be because if she did she wouldn’t have any clients since they would feel better and wouldn’t need nutritional advice? 🤔 She also contradicts herself in this video because as a nutritionist she DOES tell people what to eat and how, so wouldn’t that fall under her “diet” questionnaire? There are a lot of contradicting information in this video especially if she herself never tried the GG program.
Seems like the literature points to long chained saturated fats as the culprit behind type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance in general. So, heavy meat and dairy.
I will say that you absolutely missed her message completely. Some may pick the nutritionist over the scientist, not I. There is a very OBVIOUS difference between the two of you on who has better control of their "nutrition".....
I recently started Jessie's hacks and i need to say it 100% works for me and i have seen so much difference and it's sustainable. I dont feel the need to do push ups after i have a dessert but i do get up snd walk around the house or do chores just to get muscles working or sititng and watching tv and doing the 10 min calve raises. It also never feel hungry and i definitely sleep way better. I had alot of sleep problems waking up multiple times in the night now i sleep through. I have ordered Jessie's book and am excited to read more and follow more hacks..ive been binge watching her videos

I read the whole book last night and you missed 80% of the message. This is one of the easiest diet adjustments I have ever made. She encourages people to eat what they want, what they feel is best for their bodies, eat when you are hungry and until you are full. It is a very empathetic diet and considerate of all - including those with eating disorders, mobility restrictions, and general preferences. All of the hacks are based on real scientific research. And the hacks aren't that hard. In my opinion, a woman with PCOS, and many other health issues that almost require me to give up foods I like for the rest of my life or take lots of medications with many side effects - this method is revolutionary. I can eat things I like again with some pre and post cautions. It's amazing! It's life changing for women like me.

It's definitely different for each person but i struggle with food on so many levels, either deny or feast. I am finding this method to be amazing for myself and a daughter who majorly struggles with food.

Exactly. I don’t restrict carbs, but we don’t need sugars to survive. I eat a handful of fruit everyday and treats occasionally. Jessie doesn’t demonize glucose, she just lays down the fact.

how is it micromanaging when she's simply suggesting ways how blood sugar can be managed. she doesnt even say to NOT eat sugar but rather, she gives easy ways and alternatives on when to consume it best. her hacks make sense and is very practical and easy to follow. it seems to me that you should be the one doing more research and even help support such an effective and good advocacy. Been following it for a year and it has done wonders for my body. i also lost weight without even trying because my cravings lessened.
Appreciate the counterview to what GG touts. But I have to say, as an adult who is currently in the healthiest place with how I view my body and diet I've ever been, I just took her advice that I heard in an interview and tried it out. I'm losing weight almost without realising and my periods have returned again! For each theory there is someone it will work for. For me it works and due to that alone I will get her book and study it, picking out other tips that could be useful and applying them

The issue with nutritional sciences in general is that it the research behind it is historically pretty bad, be it flawed or grossly underpowered studies to horribly abused and misunderstood statistics to animal studies that misrepresent the human condition to, sadly, cases of fraud.
Unfortunately, I increasingly find it hard to put much stock in 'what the research says'.
Listening to my body and getting personal data be it from a CGM device or whatever is, for me, a much better bet in understanding my health.
However, I do agree with your concerns about how some of the way the glucose goddess talks about things and promotes 'hacks' could certainly promote disordered eating.
@@thatirishdietitian she is smart influencers, she tells "eat lot of veggies at every meal, drink water before meal and eat carbs at the end...and walk after every meal" By water and veggies your stomach will be full when is time to eat carbs, walking almost 1 hour at day will make you in calories deficit. So that tricks works also in long term, just isn`t about glucose in blood but tricks that push you to eat less calories and move more.

I've never felt better or lose weight so fast (and also keeping it) with such low effort. Because to me the tips from Jessie's book were easier than anything I've ever tried before. And yes, it does work. And i highly doubt it wouldn't work for most people

GG has been saving lives, as she does mine. I’ve been struggling with binge eating my whole life but ever since I implemented GG’s methods surprisingly it took turn on my sugar cravings. I’m slowly leaning towards building a healthy relationship with food bcs of her method, for once in life it feels good not to think about food all the time and yet get to eat what I want without the urge to stuffed myself to the brim.
I just tried and felt great..I do not crave anymore and have more energy the whole day....My bowel movement is also amazin, no more constipation...

Jessie never said to do pushups after eating. She said to just move around, walk or a simple calf raising while you sit.
I feel that the important take-home messages of her method are not being properly understood here.
The method doesn't require people to monitor everything they eat. No food is ‘off-limits’
It doesn't tell people to do 'push-ups' after eating, the plan advises exercising for 10 minutes after ONE meal a day, within 90 minutes after the end of the meal.
People do not have to use glucose monitors to take part in this 4 week plan.
Even if I don’t agree with everything she says, the hacks themselves make a lot of sense and clearly (judging by responses and reviews I’ve seen of her books/interviews etc) have been really beneficial for many people. And from what I’ve read in the book itself, I haven’t seen any suggestions that are harmful.
Regarding your concern about the way Jesse eats herself. The 4 week method is a way of getting started with improving blood sugar control. She states in the book that not everyone needs to necessarily continue with all of these hacks, it is up to them. I’m reading her book and have seen some interviews but not the ones you mention. I’d be interested in the links so I can understand them in context.
Exactly, when she says to move after eating or eating cakes, it doesn't have to be a full blown aerobic class or push ups, just moving is enough, and if you are at a party you can dance. I actually asked my daughter's endocrinologist who is curing her for PCOS and she said that multiple of her hacks makes sense and works.
I can 100% confirm that with a CGM, The Glucose Goddesses guidance is effective. I learned a lot from her. Check out her scientific background and how she overcame serious personal struggles while recovering from a broken back. She rocks.
Ive followed this method and continued to do so. ive got to say its really reduced my craving for sugar and therefore increased my energy levels.

"glucose spike" the precious phrase I've ever found out in my life. I hadn't known it for more than 40 years. It'd kind of silently impacted my health badly, but I didn't know it. Now, I've followed her hacks and have enjoyed my life with full of energy through the day. I'm grateful for this exploration on youtube. I'm sure in the future there will be more and more thouroughly convincing scientific proof to support this method.

For me, GG method is legit because most of her advice is what I always heard from doctors/nutritionists in Japan. I lived in Japan for 13 years and didn't know I've been unconsciously doing these habits mentioned in GG. Her advice is nothing new if you live in Japan, and it's already a lifestyle in Japan.
These habits not stressful at all, didn't count calories, ate savoury breakfast with rice. Japanese diet can easily reach, 2000cal even for women. They ate balance meal without restricting anything. Japanese do a lot of activities like walking or housework after their meal. They also enjoy their desserts in between meals yet remained thin. Eating was enjoyable in Japan. The only huge health problem they have is the impact of drinking beer daily and eating late at night after work.
Then, I returned to my country, gain a lot of weight after falling out of habit. I followed so many western diet advice, hired a nutritionist for a year, followed her strict calorie plan, but I couldn't lose weight at all after all that strict monitoring. Ended up being more stressful. For me GG habits is a great way to create the butterfly effect, get motivated, because it's not a huge change compared to keto, paleo or any other diets out there.

It seems like you didn’t really read the book or even took a look at her recipes as well. Attacking her as well without backing up what you state, also taking just one thing and holding strong with it like this push ups part shows how you don’t take full perspective and you seem too aggressive towards it.
She does focus on glucose but she also says how much fat and proteins are import and she repeats that throughout the book, and you can’t fight with the fact how much proteins and fats are important and how much harm can excessive sugar intake make.
Before doing a video like this next time, try doing more research and getting more perspective yourself.

I feel this video has missed Jessie's message completely and is manipulating bits of her work. A result due to ack of research.
It’s like she already read the book biased in her own disagreement with it. I honestly feel like this kind of biochemical knowledge gives us the foundation of how our bodies operate, giving us the autonomy some nutritionist wouldn’t like us to have cause then we wouldn’t need them hahah. I hope more scientists get out there opening the book to society so we are more autonomous on making our health decisions. Nutrition and the way our body works should be public knowledge! It’s also funny how she talks like her method is not backed up by science when Jessie actually based her method on studying all the papers she could find as a scientist herself 😅
The only lesson I learned from the “Glucose Godess” is how to make a ton of money using other people’s work. There is nothing new in her “ studies”. She is a an excellent sales person and nothing more. Obviously if people eat healthier, less calories and move more … they are going to feel better. The human body is miraculous and has a system in place to regulate glucose metabolism. Obviously this system is broken in diabetics and needs some help but she also claims this is powerful for non- diabetics, thus more business for her. She is smart enough to know that the average person can’t afford a continuous glucose monitor and thus- can’t prove or disprove her claims. Obviously a lower sugar diet that incorporates more vegetables will contribute to improved health and wellbeing- this is not ground breaking research. Her hacks are old news and common sense. What she is selling is an image. Basically this diet results in less calorie consumption- if you eat your veggies first- you will naturally take in less calories. We have heard a million times that high sugar breakfast leads to empty calories- causing fatigue and more food cravings. Increase movement leads to an uptake of glucose- again- old news. Exercise of any kind increases calories burned, increases endorphins and leads to weight loss and improved mood and motivation to move more. Don’t get me started on the vinegar…… this apple cider “ hack” has been highly researched and there is a ton of old literature to suggest this may have an impact on weight loss. They make apple cider vinegar pills for Gods sake. Just because she takes a pile of old research and common sense practices and wraps them up into a fancy package called “ the method” doesn’t make her a genius. She prays on the sick and desperate like every other “ diet” guru. When people are fatigued due to poor health and see her perfect body and perfect skin and energetic sales pitch they will do just about anything to try and achieve the image she is selling them. She is barely 30 years old, physically healthy and could literally sell anything to anyone. That being said - I don’t think the “ method” is unhealthy as this review suggests. In fact - it is very healthy especially when compared to most people’s current eating habits. Savory breakfast will almost always result in a more nutritious, lower calorie, higher protein start to the day. I’m just saying there is absolutely nothing new or earth shattering here. All she has done is summarized a pile of well established research and wrapped it up with a bow added her attractive looks and marketed it as something unique. She might be a genius but it’s not for the reasons you think. I already eat like this for the most part. The vinegar isn’t for me - its effect is marginal and mostly placebo making the user feel like they are accomplishing something. Like they have found a “ hack” when really they are just eating less, more nutrient dense foods and moving more like we all should already be doing. If you need a “ method” to get motivated then go ahead but you do not need to purchase anything special or make her recipes. Filling up on bread before your meal …. There is no glucose crash 45 minutes later in healthy individuals. We all know most people will eat the entire meal that they ordered as many of us were raised in the clean your plate generations. Saving the bread until last just means you will eat less over all because it was free and not part of your plate and if you are full ( mostly from all the vegetables she had you eat first) you will be more inclined to leave the bread behind. Who doesn’t know that grapes are very high up on the glycemic index? These “ tips” are not only things we already know - they are just extractions from other diets and research documented in the 90’s. Don’t get sucked in to the image she is selling. She very intentionally continually asks viewers to really look at the photography in her recipe book - to pay attention to its “ artistic” value. All of those photos are intentionally made to look as seductive and suggestive as possible. She isn’t selling healthy desert recipes. She is selling sex appeal. I don’t actually have a problem with any of this. I just want people to take a closer look at what her method really is before they throw their hard earned money at her and then blame themselves when they don’t end up with the sexy, glowing image she is selling. It’s marketing, marketing and more marketing. She is indeed young and beautiful but I highly doubt that her motivation was to help people. You already know this information! You already have these tools in your brain- forget the hype. Just dig deep and use them. You are worth it.

Managing your Glucose as a healthy person ist micromanaging. The management is already been done by your pancreas ... !!!
I read the first book, implemented her tips as I could (which is what she recommends), and I no longer have dizzy spells after I eat, the 2 weeks I had a CGM on backed up that the tips did in fact work on my glucose spikes. It does. I haven't lost weight, but cravings are gone and moods are more stabilized. And it has helped hormone related symptoms. No issues with disordered eating as I already had that from histamine intolerance.... with 1 of my root causes being PCOS from insulin resistance. Maybe you should actually try some of these things before you say they are crap. It might help your patients to know they have multiple options that can help. Shoot, the time I tried medically managed weight loss with a dietician and my doctor was the first time I started binge eating in a regular way. The thing you seem to miss about the programs you dislike sp much is that they give people hope. I think at least most of us are willing to try a few tips and shrug it off if it doesn't work... but as it turned out, It worked, and I bought the book. And read it in 2 days. Even switched doctors and sought help because the one I had didn't want to look into the hormone issues I was having unless I was trying to conceive or was past menopause. I sincerely hope you find peace and hope in your life. The rest of us are..... and I firmly believe you can too.
This was a interesting counter take on this. I'm curious as to your thoughts on 1. eating a savory breakfast over eating a more traditional western breakfast that is high in carbs and sugars- cereal, toast, bagels... 2. eating veggies with every mean and eating your veggies or fiber first 3. the vinegar - this one is kind of questionable, I'll give you that, 4. walking or exercising after meals?? Pretty much all 4 of these things follow pretty closely to what is commonly found in the Mediterranean diet/lifestyle, which arguably is touted as the healthiest lifestyle/diet. They tend to eat more savory breakfasts, consume lots of veggies, use vinegar regularly in their cooking and are more active than most other western cultures. So is it the information that is bad and you disagree with it or is it the package it is presented in that you disagree with? At the end of the day from the 10,000 ft view it doesn't seem that far off from what most nutrition experts I've read about or listen to have recommended. Avoid processed grains/refined carbs and added sugar, base meals around lean proteins, consume more fiber daily, and eat more veggies and fruits
Keeping blood glucose at a range in your blood that your body wants cannot be a fad - the diet we had all the way up to the mid seventies saw very few people with weight issues - take a look at beach photos from that era for the proof. The changes to food production and how sucrose is now made together with the introduction of seed oils has led to an obesity epidemic. Think her tips are spot on and will make a positive difference for thousands of people.

Prediabetes is a long period and food industry are always ready to fool the mass through such controversies confusing the people. did you notice that this learned channel is advocating against someone (for whom the beneficiaries are voicing their personal experiences and testifies the benefits, see the comments) but you can't find any superior advice here . Only criticism and no better advice doesn't earn people's trust. Sugar and diabetes industry is far more powerful than we can even think of. There are several trustworthy Dieticians and scientists who research constantly on macronutrients and eating habits, foods which our bodies are adapted to guided by our hormones working according to our genetic codes. But these scientists and nutritionists are not vocal and never misleading online. On the contrary if you are lucky to come across their interviews sometimes you'd find them explaining the basics and educate us. My periods stopped for seven months, four weeks after implementing some of the GG hacks to control my glucose spikes and my period is back, not to mention no longer having energy peaks and troughs throughout the day - same level of energy all the time. I agree that some of her discussion could be more careful in terms of encouraging disordered eating behaviour, though. I’m incorporating the method as part of a plan I’m working through with a certified dietitian to heal from disordered eating.

@@msrislammylife I learned about her method while working with a health coach for disordered eating and she’s specialised in EDs and loves the GG method. If you have a health coach, nutritionist or therapist, it’s worth discussing this with them because there are four main “rules” in the method which could trigger certain thought patterns or behaviours in people recovering from an ED.
However, if you take the “rules” as general guidelines and understand that it’s okay if you don’t do them all all the time, which she herself emphasises in her second book - they’re designed as useful guidelines not strict “rules” - you’ll be fine! It’s really up to you to decide whether this is the kind of useful, positive structure you’d like when it comes to your relationship to food. It’s less about what you eat than when you eat it, to be honest, and that alone just changes how your body feels.
Use your judgment and discuss it with a professional if you’re unsure! It’s so hard because you need some structure to overcome an ED but too rigid a structure and you’re at risk of falling back into strict food “rules”, and all the self-recrimination that comes with it.

@@dwinaliem8170 I’m so sorry! I didn’t see this reply until now! For me, rigid meal plans and timetables don’t work; I find them too stressful and restrictive. But if that’s something you would benefit from, absolutely give it a go! The GG method gives you general tools that you can incorporate into your approach to eating (1. savoury breakfast 2. vinegar once a day, preferably before your biggest meal, 3. veggie starter before your biggest meal and 4. movement after eating, preferably your biggest meal). So you can combine that with intermittent fasting, with your work schedule, with meal plans etc. It’s super flexible! Pick whichever principle you think you’ll be able to incorporate most easily and do that for a bit, then add the others as you go, one by one, until they become instinctive 😊 I hope that helps!

Keith Floyd British celebrity cook said in the 1980s use apple cider vinegar before any meal and it will help lower your blood sugar level my point is a lot of the information that she gives does work .

Have you tried her method for 4 weeks? I don’t think you have, don’t knock it until you try it. You’re not speaking from a personal experience of trying the method. You would also have to keep track of your glucose levels .

I have been following the advice of Jessie Inchauspe for three weeks and with some very minor adjustments I have seen amazing results! In addition to lowering my blood sugar to normal levels, I have lost 9lbs, I am able to get a full night's sleep, rather than being awake half the night, I feel much better and energized and I don't see any negatives. I view her comments about doing push-ups after eating a piece of cake lightheartedly as I'm sure she intended, but in my case, following a snack, I use the opportunity to do some physio rehab exercises for an injured knee. So, I have adapted her supposedly silly suggestion into a practical application...and it gets the desired results in limiting the glucose spike. Furthermore, while her study wasn't a scientific paper, which she readily admits, her stated results are very similar to my experience and most of the replies that I have read following your dismissal of her work. Very disappointed in your review!

Glucose is only harmful to your body if you have a diagnosed medical condition like diabetes or insulin resistance. Even for people in this group I wouldn’t recommend her work.

I had been suffering from bloating, abdominal pain and constant hunger for years. I needed to eat 7-8 times per day and I still felt hungry up until a month ago when I accidentally bumped into Jessie's video on RUclips. On the very first day of trying 1.drinking diluted vinegar, 2.eating savoury (protein based) breakfast, 3.keeping the order: salad, protein, carbs ALL my problems disappeared. I thought, it must have been a coincidence, then another day passed then a whole week and up until today I have been feeling great without any of the above mentioned symptoms.
Seriously, I do not care whether the actions I have taken (the 10 hacks available free of charge on a piece of A4 paper) are called a diet or not, as they work wonders.
I would suggest that instead of criticizing it from a theoretical point of view, one should try it to see if it works. And if it does, why not recommend it to one's own clients to help some people.
It isn't restrictive in any ways, as one can eat everything, what matters is the order. I have never come across a diet (if we want to call it a diet) easier to implement than this way of eating.
By the way, I didn't intend to lose weight, in fact I wanted to put on weight which I didn't manage to do contrary to the fact that I ate more than anyone else in the family. So now I feel totally liberated that I don't have the urge to eat every two hours. And I am thankful to Jessie for it.

Would it hurt if you keep an open mind, try the method yourself, and have your bloodwork done. Or better, take a baseline bloodwork, try it for 12 weeks, and have your bloodwork done again. What is your current HOMA-IR?
You are misrepresenting what the GG says. She doesn't tell you what to eat. Just the order to eat them and add some vinegar. Simple! Also, people eat 100X the amount of sugar vs a century ago.

I'm here because I wanted to answer your question... Yes, the method is legit. It works great for me, and I certainly wouldn't call it dieting.
In fact, my actual diet hasn't changed at all, only the order and timing of my food intake.
I have always eaten a balanced diet, and I'm perfectly healthy in every way. Fit and healthy and very active in my day to day and I also run marathons throughout the year for enjoyment.
However, in the past, I've always struggled a bit with the highs and lows of my blood sugar. Even though I'm eating mostly low GI foods, I would still have low blood sugar crashes if I didn't eat at the right time.
Also, you don't need to have specific studies done on this so called "method" The facts on how the human body uses and absorbs glucose is very well known, and because they are already "facts" we don't need to question it.
The simple hacks she describes are just to help slow the absorption of glucose and also to use them at the correct times so you don't have a glucose overload.

You're stating that this can incourage eating disorders? You clearly have no idea if you believe this. Eating disorders are mainly caused from poor metal health/self image disorders ect. You criticised the comment "doing push-ups right before or after a piece of cake". This can perfectly explained by the facts on how muscles use glucose. It's just a simple hack that outlines the importance of when we can use up those excess glucose, this is also backed by sports science.
Obviously, simple carbs should be avoided at all cost, but sometimes, you need to have that piece of bithday cake, otherwise you may offend people, this could ruin your social life.
The point is to not worry as much. If it becomes your culture to often eat a veggie starter, it’s not worrisome. Our culture clearly got the order wrong with sugary breakfast being promoted as healthy. That’s worrisome.

If you're already eating a good balanced diet, then there's no real problem, however, the GG methods just help stabilise daily blood glucose levels better. They're just useful hacks around eating certain foods.
Example, eat that plate of leafy greens before that dinner roll or potatoes. It's the order of that food those food groups that helps. Obviously it won't be convenient in all situations, that's why she says don't stress.
And yeah, we all need carbs, especially if you're physically active, however it's important not to choose the wrong type at the wrong time, not taking about potatoes, I'm talking about pure sugar, that has no nutritional value, eg. Coca-Cola, soft drinks, cakes, lollies ect. Humans don't need this, they're not natural, but who can resist the odd bit here and there ay, just don't eat them on an empty stomach, or you'll crash and burn. Lol

Suffering from cravings and dips in blood suger through out my whole life, I just need to say, that eating the greens first, has done everything for me! I'm not hungry between meals - and chocolate does not enter the building ;). Agree on the various issues adressed here, but eating greens first is not really a problem, is it?
I started the GG method on May 10, 2024. It is July 11 today, 2 months and 1 day later.
I am down 16lbs.
My BMI went from 35.5 to 33.3.
My basal metabolic rate went from 1940 cal. to 1876 cal.
My muscle mass went from 160 to 164 lbs.
Body fat from 36% to 31.1%.

Why would you discourage people from making minor lifestyle changes that could have major effects on their mental and physical well being? Pretty gross thing to do. Many of her hacks have been widely studied and proven even if it doesn’t have her name attached to it.
Exactly, I agree on that. In a lot of cultures these hacks have been used for thousands of years. But I do think that through the GG method it has gotten some traction and more mainstream.
I always appreciate another view, and while I might agree with your take on the vulnerabilities of GG’s work, it definitely fits a pattern around our awareness around the foods we eat. The Standard American Diet (SAD) is a killer, driven by money - that’s clear to me.
You mention we don’t know what causes diabetes, but we definitely know obesity and poor dietary health is ravaging our population. Sugar, starch and processed food intake is at the core. The problem is that folks doing your work tend to follow research studies primarily, until of course the studies are proven wrong. It seems to be more about research than anything else. The problem with research is that it doesn’t tell the whole story, and heavy reliance on it often misses valuable points. Anecdotal evidence has value too. And the reality is that it has more of an immediate effect on people than research. Therefore it’s actually more powerful. I mean, need I point out the fallacy of the fat-free research of the 1980s?
I am a type 2 diabetic, with a continuous glucose monitor. While my experience noting how which foods, and the order in which I eat them, or what I combine them with affects my BG is anecdotal, my life is also anecdotal.
I consume all the information out there, including that from folks like you. I then experiment coupling it with my own experience. GG’s work matches a pattern of common concepts around the crap we eat. Like your work, it has value. I take all of it in, and apply what I find works for me.
Finally, I notice you seem to have a focus on eating disorders and disordered eating. That’s awesome. But I’m not sure how this factors into your objectivity on a topic like this. Is it possible that you, like many others, have bastardized the word diet due to your work with this population? Clinicians have a tendency to get wrapped up in labels, become inappropriately inclusive, and jump to conclusions that are counter to a holistic approach and which fail to focus on general wellness.

This discussion seems to miss the real point: Is leveling out glucose spikes helpful or harmful to the body? Since a lot of people are advised to wear a glucose monitor, it would appear that the medical community thinks spikes are harmful. I have no health issues other than age, have plenty of energy and maintain a normal weight with portion control, so I have wondered whether implementing Jessie's hacks would be valuable for me. Then I realized that I already eat mostly that way already, and maybe that is why I am healthy at nearly 90. A savory breakfast, lots of veggies, salad first with vinaigrette dressing. I am just missing the walk after dinner, but maybe doing the dishes counts.

When I try to decide on which doctors or experts to consider following, I ask myself a few questions. Does this expert: 1. Look like an image of health 2. Is at an ideal healthy weight themselves 3. Offer something practical. For the glucose godess, all three are a yes.

glucose goddess method is not a diet for weight loss. it's said very clearly in her interviews. it only offers some healthy tips to eat and reduce glucose increase but that does not mean that if u eat a salad 1st and then eat 2 chocolates, you can expect to lose weight and not gain calories at all. I don’t follow the Glucose Goddess, but a long time ago, I dealt with some issues and ended up doing something similar to what she now suggests (actually, I did it even more strictly than her recommendations). Since then, my body feels amazing. I look a lot younger than people my age; many say I look 25-26 at most, even though I’m 37. I also get regular check-ups with my GP every 6-12 months (even my GP start learn how I eat and start to tell my story to another patient of him), and everything comes back great. I haven’t been sick in 5-6 years, and I’ve never had COVID. My severe hay fever is mostly gone. In the past, I had bad symptoms like a runny nose and often needed to use a steroid spray, but nowadays, it only shows up as an itchy nose in the morning and then disappears.
Your method approach to use measure her method also seems outdated ( who is the one who set up that guideline to tell you that method that tell people what to eat is bad, I only see the person who do that is the one who only want to eat whatever they want, lol), focusing on making people feel better about eating whatever they want. Many people need guidance on what to eat. If you’re a dietitian and can’t provide clear dietary advice, perhaps it’s time to reconsider your role. Most people with health issues want someone to tell them what to do because they don’t have enough knowledge about nutrition.
I’m not a dietitian, but I’ve worked as a chef for over 15 years, dealing with food and ingredients every day. I’ve gained a lot of knowledge-like how many carbs, fibre, or fat are in different vegetables or meats, and which ones are rich in different type of essential vitamins and mineral like magnesium or potassium.
So, I can confidently say that the Glucose Goddess offers valuable advice that people should be aware of and consider adapting into their diet.
Lastly, if our generation had more dietitians like the Glucose Goddess, rather than those who follow the outdated methods and oppose her approach, we could better combat the rising rates of diabetes and obesity. It’s clear that the dietitians who stick to old methods aren’t able to solve the problem, as these issues continue to increase. Not only that, but they also use these outdated methods to argue against hers, as if they don’t want their failing approach to disappear.

Weight inclusive is a catch phrase for the last few years that says being big can be healthy which is false. Just because people are big and do not currently have metabolic issues doesn't mean that their weight is not working on having them in the near future. If they don't have issues they should count their blessings and work hard to get out of the danger zone. This business of saying everything is fat shaming is utterly ridiculous.

Sorry but your view of Jessie Inchauspe’s information is way off the mark. Example, she said if she was at a party and was going to eat a piece of cake which she knows will spike her glucose since she has an empty stomach. What does she suggest? Do some quick exercise so when she eats the carbs, her muscles use them immediately due to the exercise. You interpret that intelligent hack, based on solid science, as encouraging eating disorder behaviors (!) Your entire review is filled with this nonsense. Encouraging physical activity as part of a healthier lifestyle is not an eating disorder behavior. People are going to eat a slice of cake at parties. Why not be intelligent about it. Are you going to tell someone not eat the cake? Fine, she didn’t recommend a person eat the cake at all. She used herself as an example and explained what she would do to blunt the carb effect. So instead of falling off the wagon and feeling guilty, a person knows they can take control and with some healthy physical activity, prove to themselves they are consciously addressing the situation. Thinking of doing excercises at a Party because of eating a piece of cake is NOT healthy, it leads to disordered eating. I have Type 1 Diabetes and had to micromanage my glucose all my life - and it easily leads to disordered eating, this i backed up by a lot of studies. I just watched a few of Jessie’s interviews after your comments, and whether or not I agree with her ideas, she repeatedly states that these are hacks that can be tried to see how you get on and NOT rigidly to be obsessed about. She accepts the fact that restrictions such as amounts to eat, calorie restriction etc are not necessary and are unsustainable long term (we’ve all been there). Your claims in this video are disingenuous and misleading. I do agree that her ideas (actually Dr Robert Lustig has promoted similar for years) should be based on rigorous evidence based research. However, she herself also states that more study is needed over time and to get the money needed for that is almost impossible.
Diet refers to what is actually eaten, not just a specific range of foods eaten. Intermittent fasting and keto diets are restrictive. I'm sure they can lead to disordered eating too.

I am also a believer of Jesse. I am a diabetic and I incorporated her hacks and it lowered my sugar plus my weight which had been stack is now going down too. How can you say that Jesse's hacks does not have scientifics basis, she is a biochemist and had studied everything about it. Actually I have heard already about the veggie starter and vinegar on other blog. Plus before I even heard about Jessee I notice that if I sprinkle ground peanuts on my cake it dont have much spike plus it is more delicious.
I agree with you in that she doesn’t provide scientific evidence however, I am surprised you claim that people who don’t have insuline resistance or diabetes shouldn’t have to worry about their glucose as their body takes care of it…you also claim we don’t know what triggers insulin resistance or diabetes, what if it is glucose? I think perhaps glucose might be to blame, we do eat a lot more glucose than we used to…I know it’s anecdotal but cutting down on glucose is not a bad thing. Look at how much obesity there is in countries that consume more glucose compared to some that don’t.
Blood sugar (glucose levels) is not the same as consuming added sugar. Rice, pasta, potatoes, sweet potatoes, lentils, chickpeas etc all raise our blood glucose levels and are perfectly healthy. She explains at the beginning how insulin brings the sugar from our blood to our muscles and brain, thats how we can function 😊 some foods raise our blood glucose levels faster/longer than others. GG says it's a problem even for healthy people and thats the whole debate

What is a 'weight inclusive dietician'?
Weight-inclusive nutrition is an approach to nutrition counseling that purports to focus on access to respectful and equitable care regardless of size based on evidence. It offers nutritional advice that isn’t simplistically centered solely around weight loss. In theory it can be very useful for people recovering from eating disorders, athletes, and certain metabolic conditions. It also makes sure not to assume that someone is eating healthy just because they are lean.
The problem is that, at least in my experience, many of them cater so much to people with eating disorders that they overcorrect and don’t actually provide much help for healthy and sustainable weight loss, even when it’s clearly necessary for health. They go so far to avoid fatphobia and push intuitive eating that sometimes it clouds their ability to understand and meet their client’s unique needs.
For example, I have PCOS and have insulin resistance and nutrient deficiencies that caused me to lose control of my weight very suddenly and rapidly, which in turn caused me to develop injuries to my feet and knees as a runner because my muscles weren’t properly conditioned for my excess weight.
I have seen 3 different RDs for this issue, including 2 weight inclusive RDs. The first RD didn’t know much about PCOS and just insisted that I eat only 1200 calories a day (1300 on the days I went out running) because a simple calorie deficit would cause me to lose weight quickly and supposedly improve my sensitivity to insulin. That was NOT sustainable for me, I was constantly in a fog and couldn’t keep up running. My PCOS symptoms actually got worse and I did lose weight but I’m pretty sure some of it was muscle.
The second RD I saw was weight inclusive, and she actually did teach me to care more about incorporating certain macronutrients like protein and healthy fats, which helped my PCOS symptoms and athletic performance a lot. She also taught me about probiotics and anti-inflammatory foods which was super helpful. But she INSISTED I do intuitive eating and learn to listen to my body to figure out how much to eat, and I actually gained weight because of this. As you can imagine was very distressing for my joints, I actually needed almost a year of physical therapy and still have plantar fasciitis issues to this day.
Turns out my insulin resistance made it very difficult to eat intuitively because the main side effect is uncontrolled hunger and sweets cravings. I asked about this and my RD was almost allergic to discussions about cutting carbs or calories. Even though my therapist assured me I wasn’t suffering from an eating disorder or internalized fatphobia, my RD insinuated I was simply because I was skeptical of intuitive eating and unhappy to have gained more weight.
I ended up switching to another weight inclusive RD (with great trepidation) who was thankfully less obsessed with intuitive eating and not totally paranoid about EDs. She was the one that validated my need to count calories but without being so extreme as the first RD. And it turns out I just need a small calorie deficit paired with high protein to boost my muscle, burn fat, and manage my PCOS symptoms. She actually knew about PCOS nutrition research AND athletic nutrition in depth, and she seemed to understand that just because I avoid high-glycemic carbs and follow glucose goddess hacks because it relieves my PCOS symptoms doesn’t mean I have an eating disorder.
Ultimately I do agree in theory with the concept of weight inclusive dietitians, but some of them REALLY seem to miss the mark in an attempt to avoid fatphobia and/or avoid provoking eating disorders. The right one will be better with nuance, but it was hard to find.

You seem to miss the entire point and taking some of the comments she makes way too literal. Doing pushups at a party after eating a sugary treat is an example of that. She has many more serious videos as well as many casual conversations where she says things like you reference. I would invite you to do more research on this method instead of poo pooing on it.
I don't claim to know more than an Irish dietician, all I know is my own anecdotal evidence. If something make you feel better overall, exhibit more mental clarity, and reduced A1C level, and experience an apparent reduction in inflammation (visible reduction in redness, flaking, itching, etc), why not continue? Nothing else has worked for me except this method (so far). I'm not saying I'll religiously follow every single one of the 'hacks' every single day! That would be a bit extreme. However, when it comes to continuing along this lifestyle path because of the benefits mentioned above, yep, I'll keep going. Thanks for your POV though.

I totally agree with this Irish dietician. Thank goodness to hear some discussion about Jessie Inchauspe. My first thought on her method was, and the question is fundamental, are these glucose spikes really so harmful for someone without diabetes? Out of interest I am trying out some of her hacks. Eating less sugar always decreases your sugar cravings - so that’s good. I am enjoying only eating between 10am and 6pm (intermittent fasting) I am trying harder to walk 10,000 steps per day. The biggest behaviour change I am implementing is asking myself « are you truly hungry? » and often the answer is « no ». So yes, I have lost some weight, but I do think it is all a bit daft, and scientifically woolly. She talks about deconstructing a sandwich so you eat the veggies first, then the cheese/ham and then the bread. Sorry, but the greatest enjoyment of food is eating the different groups all at the same time. I will increase the vegetables I eat, increase activity, decrease my eating « window », and cut out processed sugar items whilst allowing myself fruit. Basically there is nothing new in my regime!

Nice overview. Your points make sense, I am tired how every second month we find someone with the secret to healthy life. The secret has been known for a long time: consistency in a varied and slight calorie restricted diet, sport and social interactions.

I am prediabetic and have been following it for several months with great success at many levels and it makes eating fun and manageable for me. Several other diabetic specialist doctors pretty much agree with this approach. It is a way of eating, not a diet in my opinion. She provides ten hacks, not 4 BTW. You don’t do all at once! Push-ups? Not sure where that is coming from. She says that one option is to do calf flexes with ankle raises when you can’t go for a walk, but would like too. I am not impressed with your snotty approach. Too many dietitians and naturopaths push people into outrageous extremes and takes away their freedoms with food, which many times ruins their health. I have seen it too many times. There is nothing EXTREME about G.G. Approach. This is a mentally healthy approach to healthy eating. Nope, you are wrong and have looked at this with the plan to discount it. I don’t believe you have done your work on the research Jesse presents, before spewing your negative opinion. Honestly, with all her free videos, people can give this a try without spending a dime except on a way to use RUclips. You are snarky and it is not pretty!

If you’re looking for a diet to lose weight it’s no longer nutrition. This is nutrition to be healthier not skinnier. Exercise anywhere at any time is not a bad thing. Your advice is dangerous to diabetics. She is helping me live a better life while dealing with a hypo active thyroid and insulin resistance. Not a diet … a lifestyle.
Jesse aims for insulin/glucose management.. Not weight manangemnt... Because above all onsulin management is the most important aspect to fcus on.. Because if u happen to mange insulin n glucose spike.. Everything will come into place.. U will get this if u dont have brain fog
Thank you 🙏 i came across this method as i have always been type 1 diabetic and now developping insulin resistance on top. I have had to micromanage my glucose levels all my life - which is very annoying and definitely a form of disordered eating. I am always baffled when i see "healthy" people doing that volontarily and also seeing healthy people wear a CGM ... Whyyyyyy? Really, just dont eat too much sgar, no fuzzy drinks and then enjoy your life!!!
6:00 having a little movement after eating sugar can cause eating disorder??? She is talking about calling a friend to have a short walk, this sounds so healthy to me. Eating lota of sugar and sitting down on a sofa sounds way worse. I’ve got eating disorder and it came mainly from the glucose sparks she talks about! Being a biochemist, isn’t it the fundamental knowledge for nutrition to actually be possible? I mean, she could understand deep down to how our cells act and react, can it be deeper than that? I looove her tip, I’ve been dealing with all the symptoms she mentioned and I’m gonna be testing her method for sure. And last: I don’t think she is focusing on micromanaging one aspect of eating habits, it’s focusing on a molecule that impacts the whole body, how it impacts and what are some simple steps to improve how this molecule works. If she was focusing on let’s say C vitamin levels, alright, but it’s nit the case. And finally: that’s exactly her point: the amount of glucose we get from the foods we have nowadays it’s NOT NATURAL, and it isn’t. Nature didn’t predict us manipulating food in order to get the finest sugar like we did, and our bodies are not able to process that “naturally” as we can see in the long run with obesity and diabetes increasing so much! Though, I agree she could be more careful with her writing. But I understand: it’s dangerous when someone is trying to give people such a fundamental knowledge causing them to having autonomy to decide what to eat based on biochemical reactions rather than being dependent on a nutritionist to do so.
I had a nutritionist once. She advised I eliminate or severely reduce meat, avoid FAT. And eat all the carbs I wanted.

Her tricks are well know from years in Italy. You eat too much pasta and bread and become fat and sleepy after lunch. So when we need to do some heavy works after lunch we give up to eat pasta and et some light stuff that depend on people. Also if you wanna loose weight in easy way we eat salada, meat/fish/egg and after pasta giving up bread. If you do this (exactly how she tell in book) you will loose weight not because of glucose level but because you get your stomach full of veggies and when will eat pasta you will eat few or nothing. Is a very old basic trick. Also the trick of vineager in water...you fiil your stomach with water so means less space for food, isn`t that vineager will eat carbs, is that you will eat less carbs. I can assure that if you eat a lot of vegs and less carbs you will loose weight...of course. About her trick of walking after meal...you eat 3 times at day without snack, if you walk 15 mins after every meal you will walk 45mins...so what is new?? but she tells that you will loose weight NOT because you walk every day almost 1 hour but because your muscle will burn the glucose in your blood after you eat. Isn`t aboout glucose, is about you are moving.
You only need 4g of glucose in the blood at any time - the body will happily make it's own without needing to eat it - it makes sense to not flood the bloodstream with glucose which will end up storing as fat - everyones aim should be to attain stable blood glucose levels
Correct! Your liver can convert protein or fat into glucose if need be and one doesn't need to consume copious quantities of carbohydrates. Pick your carbohydrates carefully and all will be good.

Just wanted to say, that i live in France, she is criticized here too, because she creates lot of anxiety around food. There are some french doctors who are against this method.

Have to agree with the criticism of Aoifes comments. She follows conservative dietary conventions. Understandable given her training. However, the reality is that " conventional" dietary beliefs are , like so many things, constantly changing. Remember the "food pyramid" diagram? In a western food convenience, the reality is that the structure no longer suits our lifestyles. This is not to say the types of food are bad, but the structural emphasis is no longer valid..
The evidence is that too much carbohydrates is damaging to our bodies. We need more fresh fruits and vegetables, less processed foods and more fibre. We can get these things without the obsolete food pyramid- that is, we need to change the food types order. We understand that fibre is filling, changes the grehlin factor. We need to satisfy our body needs with good foods first, and then, if we want, finish with something sweet.
Jessies suggestions just change the order of types of food. It doesnt mean you can't have different foods together just eat them in an order which enables the body to digest, and digest slower- thus reducing the glucose spike size. Jessie is not saying the spike is bad, but that the size and frequency of spikes is related to pre- diabetic states. Aoife fails to clearly define this problem which contributes to around 50% of Americans, for instance, being prediabetic or diabetic. She, like all dieticians in the western world, should be fo ussed on healthy dietary regimes, and decreasing the diabetic epidemic that is hitting the west.
Jessies recommendations are not a DIET fad. Hacks are not bad- we employ many hacks to ease our way through the world we live . DIET implies weight- loss- we should be thinking about lifestyle choices/ healthy food habits.
Jessies ideas are not just another FAD. Science is contantly informing us about dietary research informing us about ourselves. Look how the science of intermittent fasting is educating us about constant food consumption, its effect on constant blood sugar/ insulin levels. Conservative criticism liks Aoifes comments is a reaction to this constant updating of scientific knowledge and how we should use that information.
Sure, there are fads out there- anyone rsmember the Israeli Army diet?. Yes, we should be aware- science informs us.
All Jessie has done is give us a better understanding of science and research findings.
Fibre fills and satisfies our hunger. Its better to feed youself with good good choices then treat ourselves afterwards rather than up first.
Finally Jessies food order is not restrictive, nor does it have to be followed in every meal. For instance my breakfast begins with greek yoghurt followed by fruit then tea and whole- grain toast -as one example. Other days I may only have fruit depending on how I feel. My lunch may follow her suggestions- I feel more like eating vegetables and protein at lunch. Dinner is usually salad and some protein/ carbohydrate early in the evening..
There is no unbreakable rule and no one food regime fits all.
Use the science, consult reliable sources, particularly in medical science- the Mayo Clinic is my first stop if I need to know anything in general medicine.
Above all- eat sensibly, not frequently, exercise body and mind, get good sleep and hydrate. Keep sugar and salt to a minimum. Walk often- it is good for mind and body.
Be cautious.

Someone just mentioned using the Glucose Goddess' methods. I didn't know the name but I saw an interview with her and she said nothing worth hearing that I hadn't already sussed out on my own. Which is to say, I already know if I eat something that causes me to feel more energetic it's a good idea to dance or get some work done. And, I lost a great deal of weight before by primarily just beginning each meal with a 1/2 or whole grapefruit OR salad or a vegetable dish, then moved on to eating a meal that i fit as much vegetables as I could into. And, I have never been one for eating a sweet breakfast if I could help it. Unless it is fruit, that is. That was long before I knew she existed. It wasn't enough. I tried using ACV and POM vinegar, white vinegar and rice vinegar. Having a little vinegar for flavor helps cut out some cravings, sometimes, but that's all the joy I got from it. I am just not sure how she is a "Goddess" and people think that she came up with something unique. She basically, as far as I can tell, cobbled together a little Natural Hygiene with some Chinese history.
Goddess is easier to remember and say than Inchauspe.
I think she made it more ''mainstream''. And I think that's great.
All the books out there say nothing new. But it’s how people can relay information and how people interpret it that makes it “powerful”.
Just like movies - how many rom coms are out there? A lot. But some impact you more bc the story is great. Same with books and information.
And I for one don’t know much chinese history, so if that is what she researched and presented to me in 2024, than I thank her for doing what I did not know about or want to do.

GG may looks good for people in all these positive comments. But for me the biggest trigger and doubt was that her “research results” were just her words and some numbers. That is not a research!!!!! Totally agree with this video!
But this “method” could of course make some people happy and they feel their body better or something. Good for them.
If you look at the info on her RUclips videos (click on the title) she references the studies that back up her claims. And her method is solid as evidenced by the experience of myself and millions of others.
I think theres no harm in trying if theres hope promised.. What u r doing is killing the hope and inspiration to change.. We getwhat u mean.. Just like we belive in jesus yet we never saw him... But the impact and experience is more important because of that we believe and we have a life... Think of that before killijg our hopes
I just stumbled upon this video and something stroke me, she says she would not recommend the GG plan to none of her clients. Could it be because if she did she wouldn’t have any clients since they would feel better and wouldn’t need nutritional advice? 🤔 She also contradicts herself in this video because as a nutritionist she DOES tell people what to eat and how, so wouldn’t that fall under her “diet” questionnaire? There are a lot of contradicting information in this video especially if she herself never tried the GG program.

Seems like the literature points to long chained saturated fats as the culprit behind type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance in general. So, heavy meat and dairy.
I will say that you absolutely missed her message completely. Some may pick the nutritionist over the scientist, not I. There is a very OBVIOUS difference between the two of you on who has better control of their "nutrition".....
