    In my experience, it was hard for me to balance at first so it took me a little less than a week to get that down. For pumping, it took me a little less than 2 weeks to get it consistently. Now after 5 months, free skating is very easy for me :)

    In my experience. To know which foot is your leading foot. All You have to do is wear socks, run and to slide on a smooth floor. try see which foot is easy to slide then you will know.
    Now I can pump and do carving movements but only goofy. Still learning how to ride regular.

    As someone who recently received free skates as a gift I believe it was pretty easy. After about a week I could keep my balance consistently and got the pumping motion down 2 days after.

    In my experience the hardest part is developing my inner thigh muscle. Balancing really isn't that hard at all. I just get too tired to keep practicing after a bit

    Ben and Mattie's reviews 😂. Unicycles are definitely harder to use than freeskates, in my opinion at least. You can't go too far back or forward and it's hard to start. I'd say freekstates are challenging at first, but get very fun soon after.

    Hip width works better than shoulder with when getting started pumping, I was busy trying to imitate Jeff's pumping, as soon as I shortend my strides and brought them hip width (or closer than shoulder width) I can even go uphill a little, you have to be right on the edge of clipping them together, shorten ~~~~ the swerves and you'll have more leverage Tight little pumps! feet close together Imitating the footage is like trying to go upstairs 2 at a time before your tall enough to reach that far.

    • @jmkride
      @jmkride  2 года назад

      Yes, everyone will eventually develop what works best for them. We provide what we feel is the most comprehensive way to learn and each rider can tailor it to themselves

    It took me 5 days to learn how to pump properly, the first and second days are just trying to balance and then third to fourth is just learning how to pump. Fifth day is where i got the result. Overall just practice at least 30 minutes a day you should be fine. If you struggling to pump just practice the pumping movement on one leg first. :)

    • @jmkride

    In my experience in freeskating and other sports like it, freeskating is significantly easier than :
    Skateboarding
    Skiing
    Ice skating
    Roller blading
    Snowboarding
    Etc
    The learning curve is a little more demanding at the beggining, you definitely cant just get on it and ride away like with a ripstick for example - but it's still significantly faster to learn than some really hard thing like Skateboarding

    45-year old inline skater (25-ish years) here, got my jmks a few days ago, it took me a ~4-5h hours to pick up (very) basic riding. Still, I don't think you can learn it in a day properly. Do 1-2h a day, then sleep so your muscle memory can "patch" your brain, the next day things will have become much easier (except for the mother of all muscle aches these things will give you). That's what worked for me at least, YMMV. Oh and BTW: This is the most fun I had in years, so addictive , heroin on wheels

    I would say that free skates are difficult. It took me about 2 weeks just to learn how to cruise , mostly because of the pumping part. I think that's a big problem with free skates, because not many people would want to spend their time learning something kinda pointless. Once you do learn them though, they are extremely fun.

    As someone who spent my whole childhood riding a ripstick everywhere, I found them not too bad. After a video tutorial or two and and few hours I was up rolling pretty good. Although when some family or friends tried them they felt like they were way to confusing to ride. It seems like anyone who is used to general staking (skateboards, long boards, rollerblade, etc.) can pick these up pretty easily with a day or two of practice, but others who have never tried to skate before are going to need an extra week or two before they really start feeling comfortable cruising around on them.

    • @jmkride
      @jmkride  2 года назад

      Yes it's definitely possible to learn with no wheeled experience, but having that feeling of moving on wheels puts you a step up

  • @ReavoEnd
    @ReavoEnd 2 года назад

    I'm on my fourth week learning. So far, the thing that makes freeskates challenging to learn is the slow speed. If you're learning on flat ground then pumping starting out is pretty slow, and you don't get much adrenaline from going slow haha. So much easier to go faster on a skateboard and kickstart that adrenaline feedback loop.
    That said, I'm going to keep it up because I do think freeskates are fun!

    • @jmkride
      @jmkride  2 года назад

      Freeskates have that extra learning curve. Once you start getting it you'll get that fix!

  • @Orasium
    @Orasium 3 года назад +1

    They are hard to learn sure.. take me 3 weeks like 1h per day to just learn how to pump with front foot
    I was riding more Surfskate before and it is fun too but Freeskates is like 2-3 times more fun than Surfskate, so much tricks to learn, you can carve and slides as well but with more things to do :)
    In the end i'm so happy at my hard work because it's a lot of fun, it's so addicting and a great workout !

    I disagree, jmk you're a great company but the Amazon 26$ skates are fine, actually for a year now I've been using both jmk and the s shape skates,
    The S style skates (the cheap ones) have pros and cons,
    Major pro: they are lighter and lower to the ground, they are easier and even a little more comfortable to ride, I use them to teach people to ride,
    Cons: they aren't very good if you want to do tricks or drop ins etc, the truck style is awkward for the coping, the platform is too low and makes flip tricks difficult,
    The truck style of jmk skates make it easier to do coping stuff and they are taller which makes it easier to do flips,
    I always tell people the amazon skates are just fine for beginners who aren't ready to make a 150$ investment (assuming shipping cost)
    Edit: twolions "pros" on the amazon website seem kinda nice, they use an s style shape but the platform is raised higher which makes it a little more ideal for flip tricks
