Man I remember defending Constantinople against the Venetians in the Crusades expansion. Two stacks attacking from both sides. I put all my men at the front wall while I only had my king and prince at the rear. I pulled a hail mary and managed to destroy the second army’s artillery with the body guards alone sustaining heavy casualties but not losing my generals, forcing them to walk all around the city to link up with the first army. Then when the first army breached through the wall with their artillery, I kept my siphonatores close to the breach to burn them on mass... Practically destroyed those stacks with minimal losses. It was glorious and so satisfying.

The point is that the mongolian *empire*, as in Genghis Khan's conquered lands, did not meet something that happened a century later. His successor states very much did, though. And Islam in mongolian territory was at first pretty accepted, which made the Khans ruling over said muslim population quite eager to convert. Y'know; not getting dethroned by a popular revolt and a few thousand zealots. Also i was poking fun at Genghis Khan existing before being born, but that's neither here nor there.
@@rory6860 I kinda get Golden horde vibes from the mongols in Medieval, with them being muslims and settling around Astrakhan, but i guess they really wanted to add the mongols without them being super mega late in the campaign. And to be fair ,even if they had gone the extra mile and pushed the whole date back, they still wouldnt have wanted the mongols to be a single faction from Persia to eastern Europe. That just wouldnt work without stupid buffs, which would in turn not work because duh mongols op now.

Feels like every European country throwing their spare armies at you. Must've been hard to be Jerusalem back then. Imagine that.

I just love how powerful guns in M2 sound, how they thunder so forcefully the screen shakes. Meanwhile in WH you have feeble pop gun recharger rods that make a puny little pip as they send something slower than most sling bullets on a weird arc every few moments.
@@TrueScottsmen No they aren't, they just aren't instant-win buttons. Try using archers against English Armored Swordsmen, then try using gunners. Sure Handgunners kind of suck but the later matchlock armed lads are rather good. Also note if you enable Skirmish Mode they'll use Fire By Rank (DLC units like the Irish Gunners do this by default) but don't have a proper reload timer so if you put them in two ranks they'll alternate fire putting a lot of shot downrange. Just like the Gun Sam in S2 you have to know how to use them. Use them right and they'll be purebred monsters (And use them in siege defence and you'll utterly crush the baddies).
Can we take a moment and applaud Pilps for spending hundreds of hours editing to make this video? His CPU nearly had a stroke when he hit the Render button! :D

These guys were the only reason I bought Med 2. And yes, I did it in the exact same way you did with the feigned retreats. You should have also renamed Rome to "empty lot" after destroying all the buildings and downgrading it to a village.

there was a envoy who carries the word of the pope, which goes to the great khan of mongolia, asking for attacks to end and conversion of khan to the christianity. The great khan first ask to the envoy, Plano del Carpini, "who is the boss of europe." Plano answers that simply says its pope. then great khan answers. "Then make your pope to give me the europe, then we will end the attacks.". I just reminded that scene when you become ally of papal states.
Horse archers. Also known as HA. Not because its a abbreviation of "Horse Archer", but because its what they say as they run around you shooting you with arrows.
Pilps I have to recommend a mod for medieval 2 called total vanilla beyond, it adds new factions to the campaign, as well as new units to each faction. It even gives you the ability to play as the aztecs and apache tribes. You can also play as the papal states but I do not believe you can excommunicate people. It also adds new religions

I like the simplicity of the mod i have on now, it basically is the base game but with all factions playable, but yes The Byzantines will get the rightful justice and glory they deserve!
That’s weird, the Mongols had their own voice lines when I fought against them in the campaign, but the campaign map you’re playing had the Muslim quotes instead. No matter. When you crammed your siege equipment, along with your spearmen to slow down the Crusading factions, it was satisfying seeing the attackers’ siege equipment and soldiers burn into a crisp as you made instant Mongolian BBQ from those fools!
Really? Oh that's weird! Some of the general speeches were asian inspired, but the campaign map army sayings were definitely one of the muslim factions voice lines. And yeah aha, i love blocking choke points with siege equipment's!

The great khan first ask to the envoy, Plano del Carpini, "who is the boss of europe." Plano answers that simply says its pope. then great khan answers. "Then make your pope to give me the europe, then we will end the attacks.". I just reminded that scene when you become ally of papal states.

Pilps I have to recommend a mod for medieval 2 called total vanilla beyond, it adds new factions to the campaign, as well as new units to each faction. It even gives you the ability to play as the aztecs and apache tribes. You can also play as the papal states but I do not believe you can excommunicate people. It also adds new religions
I wanted to try it and I did a poll but a majority voted against it, so I’m just going to stick with custom campaign mod

I like the simplicity of the mod i have on now, it basically is the base game but with all factions playable, but yes The Byzantines will get the rightful justice and glory they deserve!

That’s weird, the Mongols had their own voice lines when I fought against them in the campaign, but the campaign map you’re playing had the Muslim quotes instead. No matter. When you crammed your siege equipment, along with your spearmen to slow down the Crusading factions, it was satisfying seeing the attackers’ siege equipment and soldiers burn into a crisp as you made instant Mongolian BBQ from those fools!
Really? Oh that's weird! Some of the general speeches were asian inspired, but the campaign map army sayings were definitely one of the muslim factions voice lines.
And yeah aha, i love blocking choke points with siege equipment's!
