My dad drove a tanker. All their trucks had air starters during a period back in the late 60's, early 70's. They were used because refineries thought the electric start may ignite fumes.
I drove an old 69 Matlack truck pulling a bucket for 9 years 75 to 84 it was a 237 5 speed with 4.17 rears 24.5 rubber and those 237s were bulletproof even after you turned them up it had an air starter and never wore out so I wonder why anyone would go to electric start 🤔
