So very sorry you are lost to this earth now but along with every song you sang, this is an incredible rendition. You inspired then, and now still, to have A Closer Walk With God. Then you saw through a glass dimly but now you see your Saviour face to face. We bless your memory, and Thank You. Indeed the carnival is over (on this earth).
Transcendent. This was the song on the Seekers original audition tape. As Guy Athol said, “That’s some audition, huh?” Check out the live version on the Seekers Carnival of Hits Tour 2000
What a brilliant voice. I can not explain what it does to my soul. I can be having a bad day and then Wham! I happen upon this and my day has purpose again.
I live in UK and have been a big fan of the Seekers and Judith since the 1960's. What a voice! I was fortunate to see her and the boys at the Royal Albert Hall in London for their 50 anniversary tour. When she was hit by illness and the first tour date had to be cancelled I thought my chance to see them perform live had gone BUT luck was with me (and her) and she recovered to perform some months later. What a lucky man I was to be there and hear such beautiful songs sung by them all. I heard on a radio recording some time back where Judith was asked whether the Seekers would be able to take the pop world by storm today. She answered that she doubted it as youngsters today do not seem to want to listen to 'wholesome' songs anymore. That may be so but my generation (i'm in my 70's)still loves to hear her voice and the harmonies of the Seekers.
I was fifteen years old when i first heard the seekers song georgy girl what a supper song i was in Wisconsin at the time they were young what a timeless song i life in texas but we went to work in the fields at the time let me say the seekers are the greatests singers even til now as they were back in the 60'S love you all four off you judith durham thankyou for all the year's to you all and for ever your songs will endure thankyou for the times you all sang for the whole world love you and may god keep you safe September 2020.
Unless they compared it to another performance of hers of the same song, and they don't like a key change or something. Or they just don't like gospel...
Lyrics: Just a closer walk with Thee Grant it, Jesus, is my plea Daily walking close to Thee Let it be, dear Lord, let it be I am weak but Thou art strong Jesus keep me from all wrong I'll be satisfied as long As I walk, let me walk close to Thee Through this world of toil and snares, If I falter, Lord, who cares? Who with me my burden shares? None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee. Just a closer walk with Thee Grant it, Jesus, is my plea Daily walking close to Thee Let it be, dear Lord, let it be
When and where was this performed. Is that Ron playing piano. This is just off this planet. Soooo good. Thanks to whoever posted it. Never heard Judith give such a great rendition as this.
I know, I know, but I must: Her stunning voice rivals Judy Collins. Both of them a sirens voice. Mahalia Jackson gave both lessons I believe.Grandioso...
Oh, little ladies with big voices - the most obvious that comes to my mind is Mireille Mathieu, who I think is well under 5' (listen to her rendition of the Marseillaise: you'd storm the Bastille!; or Kulissen von Paris; or Derniere Valse). But there are others - I don't think Cilla or Hairy Mopkin were very tall; Sarah Brightman; I think even Kylie isn't that tall. In other fields Leslie Garrett ... Judith is one of a kind, though. (As, in their own way [often very different], were most of those I've mentioned.)
Small stature is almost a requirement: Judy Garland, Edith Piaf, Elaine Paige, Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse, Dolly Parton, Kristen Chenoweth, Bette Midler, Barbra Streisand all tiny, for example.
Muito bonita sua apresentação!

This is the Judith I love.
By far the best performance of this song by Judith. The passion and feeling shines through from start to finish. Thank you Judith.
Masterclass. This must be in the top 5 of Judith's vocal performances.

Absolutely stunning, both singing and piano. Brilliant
Fantastic! Popular music stars of today should take note.
Wow what a brilliant performance
Wow, just how many times must Judith has sang during her career? Just A Closer Walk With Thee. Absolutely beautiful.
She can sing it again any time she wants.
Keep coming back to this, it’s so different to The Seekers version. Greater inflexions I think.
STUNNING
I stumbled across this video and absolutely loved it. What a beautiful rendition of one of my favorite songs.
What the heck! Where was this performed?!! Absolutely brilliant. She has always been good but this is over the top
The Best
How can 2 viewers say that they don't like this.? What is there to dislike
Unless they compared it to another performance of hers of the same song, and they don't like a key change or something. Or they just don't like gospel...
Don't worry about it, Richard. It doesn't matter.
Amen
Lyrics:
Just a closer walk with Thee
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea
Daily walking close to Thee
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be
I am weak but Thou art strong
Jesus keep me from all wrong
I'll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee
Through this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.
Just a closer walk with Thee
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea
Daily walking close to Thee
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be

GOD BLESS YOU,JUDITH
..YOU HAVE MADE THE WORLD A HAPPIER PLACE...MAY GOD BE WITH YOU ALWAYS..YOUR SONGS WILL LIFT OUR HEARTS ,WHENEVER WE LISTEN...MWA
Ken Franks no, Mahalia Jackson didn't give lessons to Judith, but Judith did listen to her records, along with Bessie Smith and Ma Rainey
In an interview I remember her mentioning a fondness for Sophie Tucker, and I do hear some striking stylistic similarities.
Y gore erioed! Am Lais. Am gan! Neb yn agos i ddi!
How is it possible for anyone 5ft 3 in to have a voice like this?
Richard Barr Judith isn't 5'3" Richard, she's 5'1 and 3/4"

Is that husband Ron on piano, anyone know?
most likely
Yes, her husband Ron Edgeworth made an album with her, " The Hot Jazz Duo" released in 1979 and re released in on a cd in 2003. Great duo!
So much better without the Seekers
Woot or without Judith shines. A beautiful soul. God love her, I do.
And miss her so...
