How to Create and Use Labels in Gmail

Labels in Gmail are the simplest way to organize your emails. They work similarly to folders on your computer.
You can create a label for anything inside of Gmail. Once you create a label, you also need to create a filter. Filters and labels work together. The filter will automatically add a label to emails.
You can always change your labels and filters by editing them under the Gmail settings menu.

The only good video I found on how to actually use labels for filtering your inbox automatically. I was trying to figure out how to do the Smart Inboxes feature like how apple mail has it but in gmail. and I couldn't figure out how. I knew that smart labels were part of the answer but I didn't know how to add filters. Exact video I needed. This is so much better then using the "mutiple inbox" feature too. all my mail that comes to my inbox is automatically applied a label and organized. why would you want to open your main inbox and then have the folders inside there? I mean that works but having the labels/folders on the main left pane is just cleaner objectively.

I created labels exactly as suggested here but only some of these labels seem to work -- but some labels do not show up from the contacts and go into the "To:" line when I call for them? Are there rules as to what kinds of words can be used as label filters?

Question? How can you REMOVE labels on GMAIL for everything for the IPHONE, or remove all LABELS off IPHONE, it seems when you create a ontact list and use LABELS for something when updating IPHONE or just in general the LABEL changes on it's own. For example, the in Address, the label says "label' so you cange it to HOME, it sometimes reverts to "address", is this a glitch in IOS or in GMAIL.....thanks, John

Great video, can you please tell me, is there a method I can use to move emails from a specific sender to a label of my choice? I have a Label called General, however emails I received from a specific person I want to move to their own Label which I have created. There are years of emails from this person so doing this one by one would be very labor intensive. Thanks for any advice you can offer. Much appreciated..!
