  • The USMC plans to replace their F/A-18, AV-8B and EA-6B with the new Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II. On March 18, 2010 at Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland's Integrated Test Force (ITF) from Air Test and Evaluation Squadron US Navy's VX-23 "Salty Dogs" the first F-35B prototype BF-01 lifted off with the runway using less than 1000 feet and only 80 knots of speed. After 13 minutes of flight BF-01 used its 41,000 pounds of thrust to hover 150 feet above the ground and then slowly descend to a successful first vertical landing.
    VX-23 was established in 1995 and operates several types of aircraft. On average VX-23 conducts 3,000 flights annually accumulating about 4,000 flight hours with a large portion of this time spent conducting high-risk flight tests.
    Seen here is that very aircraft in 1:72nd scale diecast. This one did give me some grief; it did not feel up to the normal Hobby Master standard. Maybe it was just my model, but there were a few fitment issues. As you will see in the video again like what happened in the last F-35 model from Hobby Master. The in flight gear bay doors are just so hard to get out when fitted correctly when you want to change to gear down.
    Thank you as usual for checking out our video, we appreciate it immensely. I hope you found it helpful in some way and if so please throw us a like or even subscribe if you wish to be kept up to date with our latest releases ‪@heavymetaldiecast‬
    Use of any images or video in any of my reviews is used out of pure respect in regard to units and/or actual people. I wish to acknowledge all those that have served past and present with their respective nations armed forces with some making the ultimate sacrifice. Political ideals aside, it takes great courage and selflessness to answer your countries call.
    Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.
    Cheers

    Hello! I have heard about your channel from co worker^^^jrex. It is definitely will be another addition to my hb die-cast. I feel the c is beautiful as well, Of course I am partial to the c bc I did serve in the navy for 8 years. Thanks for the excellent review and have made a decision that it will be added to my growing collection!

      Hey mate, thanks for dropping past. I hope you enjoyed the video. That would have been a great experience to serve in the Navy for nearly a decade. My nephew is in the Australian Navy currently. Glad the video helped in making you spend more money on our expensive hobby,haha. Its like I say to everyone, even if one of my videos gets just 1 view but it has helped that person make their mind up whether to add it to their collection then that's the videos job done. I appreciate all that drop past to my channel. And especially those that share there won experiences and stories to whether its about their own model experience or military experience. I just recently had a grand son of a pilot who's aircraft I did a review on contact me and thank me for making the video. For me that kind of interaction makes it all worth making these little videos. Thanks again for taking the time to watch and comment, I appreciate it. Cheers 👍

I'm gonna share this video with him right now & see what he thinks lol. We make a lot of parts for the F-35 so it's a bit special to us you could say. Thanks for the review as always brotherman 🤘

      To be honest if your an F-35 fan you will love this. It is well worth the effort and the many parts although maybe a little overwhelming, they did go in there respective spots with out too much trouble. Just choose what configuration you want first,haha. As going from in flight to gear down...grrr is dam annoying like the last one. Those goddam gear doors once pushed home for in flight are soooo hard to get off, I had doors flying off everywhere,haha. If I do another F-35 I am doing gear down first, then in flight,haha. So cool that you have a personal involvement in the creation of this aircraft. For me personally I still find them not too exciting to look at, but in this "Beast" mode it does look awesome!! They are exciting to see fly though, before you hate on me for saying they are much to look at,haha. Imagine how cool one of these would look in a desert camo!!! Thanks again for watching 😎👍

      @@peterhewson3216 For sure, the Stuka looks terrible without gear down ,haha. The reason I went down the gear down path was because of my trust issues,haha. Some stands are very iffy!! So I never trusted having models on them so always went gear down. So now I'm stuck pretty much buying only models that have a gear down option!! I really want to check out the Me-108 that oxford make in their green box range but that range only come in flight only. But they are the only ones that make it in diecast so I may eventually pull the trigger and hide it shamefully behind my 109's,haha

      Yes its a very expensive aircraft to acquire and maintain in real life. I cant help but thing back to WW2 when Germany had all this technologically superior equipment, but ultimately would be overwhelmed by numbers of less advanced machines. Considering the Su57 is half the price!!!

    Nice review mate, I’ve got all three versions of F-35A B C and I got to tell you the B version is the most complicated one there are so many panels related but gladly that hobby master nailed it. just reminds me of the movie of transformer.

This is the second time I have had trouble getting those doors to come out so I can put it in gear down and "Beast" mode,haha. Yeah I was worried when I saw so many parts, but they do go in there without too much trouble. And this one when all opened up look absolutely fantastic. Your not wrong about the Transformer side of it, was expecting to find a head to pull out of one of those openings 🤣 Thanks again for dropping past!!

    As always, I will be critical. 😂 No, not for the video review, but for the model. The video review is great 👍, but the model... We really need a new model of the F-35A/B/C because the HM is just terrible. By the way, I think the F-35 as a fighter is beautiful.

    • @heavymetaldiecast
      @heavymetaldiecast  5 месяцев назад +1

      You can be critical of the video if you ever feel like it, I am a big boy and wont cry!!! I am not a millennial and can take harsh criticism 😂The HM F-35 feel really light compared to other models I found too, similar to the feel I got from Panzerkampf's Rafale. Maybe cheaper metals, not sure. For me personally I don't have a huge fondness of the look. The F-22 for me is a sexier beast, I also like the look of the Su-57 as well. But that's the thing I think about the F-35, you either love them or you don't. In flight they look fantastic as we have some here that fly over some of our sporting events. The rare plan I do get to see on the odd occasion,haha.

    • @slizevicius
      @slizevicius 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@heavymetaldiecast No, no, everything is fine with the video. You are one of the best bloggers in this field.
      As for the HM F-35, it would be interesting to compare it with the AF1 model. Although the latter has some inaccuracies in shape, especially behind the cockpit.
      And speaking of the Panzerkampf Rafale, I recently received it. Yes, it's light, but it's not that bad. Well, there is another problem with the Rafale: we don't have a good and very high-quality model. Everyone praises the HM model. However, as always, HM makes some nonsense of it, which makes the model unattractive. They did not put anti-radar "tooth" on the Rafale model, which are on the wings and the bottom of the body. Even Altaya was able to do them, but HM was not. And this is an important attribute. Now they released the Mirage-III, with an unrealistic cockpit... But the good news is that soon Panzerkampf will also release their own Mirage-III...

    Is the F22 easy to put together ? So far I have an F16, F18,F4, A6B Prowler, and Mig 31 from Hobby master. Just ordered SU 30 as well. Love the Russian fighters as well. Prowler is the fav out of my collection for me and the easiest to put together. F4 was a bit tricky, and I broke one of the missiles in the F16. Need to put some super glue when I am not too lazy

    • @heavymetaldiecast
      @heavymetaldiecast  5 месяцев назад +1

      F-22 is easy compared to this,haha. I find swapping out from in flight to gear down on these HM to be annoying hard for me. As the in flight gear doors are stuck in a way that makes them so hard to get back out. Unusual to experience this from a Hobby Master aircraft as normally they are always fairly easy to assemble. The other aircraft you mention go together easily too and I'm always happy with those. Yes sometimes things can be a little tricky on some planes and I myself have had the odd breakage with my sausage fingers 🤣. Just be careful with that super glue, that stuff can fly out at times,haha. With missles I just re attach with some normal model glue that I have a jar with a small brush in the lid. just a couple of dabs and its done. I only ever use the super glue if I am repairing metal on metal breakages. Thanks for watching the video and taking the time to comment. 👍😁
